Previously Titled She Writes Love. One meeting that changed the course of two people's lives when they least expected it.PaisleyFollowing a personal tragedy, the idea of experiencing love again seemed impossible. I shut myself off emotionally, immersing myself in my work and living life as I wanted. During a meeting, I crossed paths with Ben, a man who understood my pain. His handsome looks, rugged charm, and humor sparked our undeniable chemistry. The idea of opening my heart again filled me with fear, compelling me to confront the very thing I'd spent the last year hiding from and paving the way for a fresh chapter in my life.BenAfter experiencing a personal tragedy, it was difficult for me to return to everyday life. I buried myself in my work as a firefighter and as a craftsman on the side. I had no interest in love or relationships until the night I met Paisley, a beautiful woman with whom I felt an instant connection. Being with her made me feel like my life could return to normalcy. I was grateful for the second chance fate had given us, and I was determined to make Paisley see that we were meant to be together.18+
Writing is my passion and my mission is to provide readers with romance novels that will whisk them away into another world and from the daily grind of life - one book at a time.
Paisley is a twenty-seven year old widow. A year ago, her husband of a year died on their anniversary. She's been grieving and her family want to help her move on, they miss the old Paisley. They suggest she go to a grief support group. Ben is a twenty-nine year old widow. He lost his wife a year ago to cancer. When Paisley and Ben meet at a grief support meeting, the find understanding in each other.
I have had this book on my ereader since the day it was released. I thought the description sounded really good but was afraid it might be too emotional for me. I'm not going to lie - this book is very emotional and I did cry but there is so much more to this story than two people who are dealing with their grief. This was an incredible book about love - losing love, finding love again, family love, and a love that is so powerful it stays with you. I could not put this book down once I started it, it's fast paced and well written. This is such a brilliant love story, perfect for anyone who loves romance!
I went into this book blind, so all I knew about this book was that it was a romance story. I am so happy I took a chance on this story and this new-to-me author. Sandi Lynn has created a hopeful and emotional romance about two people helping each other put their pieces back together. The heaviness of Ben and Paisley's loss was broken up with light-hearted familial banter that had me laughing during the moments I wasn't tearing up. Erin Mallon and Chris Chappell did an outstanding job bringing Sandi Lynn's words to life in the audiobook version. They brought Ben and Paisley's story to life and pulled me into their story. I definitely recommend one-clicking She Writes Love and adding on the audio narration, if you are an audiobook listener. You will fall in love with this story and these characters.
Books always leave an impression on a person who reads it but there are some books that leave you with a sense of calm after you read them.
‘She Writes Love’ was that for me.
It literally took me a couple of hours to finish this book and I can say that I loved every single minute of it.
Paisley, at the age of 27, lost her husband to massive heart attack on their one-year anniversary. Even after a year she hurts for him and can’t seem to move own. She works as a columnist, known as ‘Dear Paisley’, for LA Times.
Every Saturday, since the day everything came crashing down she writes letters to her dead husband ending the letters with ‘Love forever, Paisley.’
These letters are more than just letters to her husband. They were a deeper insight to the emotions that Paisley keeps hidden from everyone, everyone except Ben.
Ben lost his wife Amy to a cervical cancer after a five year marriage. Now he works as a firefighter and in his free time makes furniture.
A chance encounter brings them together at a group therapy session. And this was the start of something beautiful.
As the book progresses, the bond between Ben and Paisley evolves.
Any relationship that ends tragically, there is always a loving and supporting family behind them. Paisley’s mom and dad, her sisters- Charlotte and Piper and her brother Keaton have been supportive of her. Even they are over bearing, they want nothing but the best for her. But the relationship that stands out is that of Keaton and Paisley.
Ben’s mom, dad and brother want nothing more for him but to move on with his life and who better than Paisley.
But, The road to love was not easy for them. A small but poignant moment made Paisley re- think about her life.
Midst all of this, there was one person who made a huge difference.
David.
He was, in no other better term, an angel in disguise. He was the acting force between the commencement of Ben and Paisley’s relationship. He was the one giving advice to Ben and pushing him to talk and go out with Paisley.
He knew what it meant to lose someone he loved.
And do you want to know who David is?? Well, for you to find that out, you will have to read it but the one thing I can tell you is that when you read further you might know who he is.
‘She Writes Love’ is more than just the title of the book. It’s the story of a man and woman who are on the journey to re-discover their lives after a tragic accident forever altered them.
It’s a story about moving on.
A story about re-discovering life.
A story about living again.
A story….about finding love again.

Wonderful story, not 5 stars because I know this writer could do it better. But thanks to her for great amazing MCs, both faithful and great personalities. Safe read
Just a word of warning, you will need tissues to get through this tearjerker – plain and simple. You will feel heartbreak for these two individuals. How can life be so cruel you will ask. But, when the last page is turned, you will clap and cheer, and you will sigh with certainty that these two people are finally home. So many readers loved this story, and I can see why. It really gets to the heart and soul. It’s powerful. But, most of all, it’s a second chance. A second chance at life, at love, and to find that soulmate. Your forever. The love of your life.
Paisley Logan is drowning. Drowning in sorrow. She just can’t find the how or why to move on. Her husband was taken from her at such a young age. It was their one-year wedding anniversary in fact. How could God be so cruel? All their plans for the future – gone! She’s lost the love of her life. How could anyone even approach her to start dating. She’s not ready. There’s no way that that is going to happen!! Her family feels for her, but she’s still alive. It’s time to start living. When her brother, Keaton, suggests that she go to a widow/widower support group, she simply won’t even hear about it. Is he crazy??
Ben Preston lost his wife, Amy, to cancer after a five year battle. He’s heartbroken, and can’t seem to get passed it. It was painful to see his young wife suffer so acutely. She was such a beautiful and caring person. Why must all the delicate people suffer so? His family wants him to move on too. Start dating. Be more social. But, he’s not ready either. And, when he goes to his regular hang-out bar for his normal Friday night drink, he’s met there by a new customer, David. They become immediate friends and David suggests that he attend the same widow/widower support group on Friday nights. Ben really wants none of that, but what the hell, it’s Friday, might as well check it out and see what it’s all about.
When Paisley and Ben meet, it’s like magic - pure and simple. They’re attracted to each other, but neither one is willing to take that plunge. Now I’m not going to discuss much more about their relationship because I don’t want to give away much else, but it made me smile. I loved these two characters. They were perfect for each other. And, it’s such a feel-good book. There’s a twist at the end that was wonderful. I really didn’t put two and two together when I was reading this lovely novel because I was just so focused on their love story. But, I will say this, it was totally celestial. Divine. Almost angelic. You will not be disappointed whatsoever!
“Keaton told me once that life is like the ocean. You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to ride them. Just like you can’t stop life, but you can learn to live it.” ~ Paisley (Chap. 20)
“I was drowning in my own misery and feeling like I was the only person in the world that this happened to. I’m here tonight to tell you that you will be all right. Your deceased loved ones don’t want you to stop living life after they’re gone. They want you to be at peace and continue to love life like you did when they were alive. Someone once told me to embrace the memories you had with each other. Remember them and let them heal you. We all know that life’s too short to drown ourselves in our own sorrow. Life can, does, and will go on for you. But you have to make the effort to live it right. I am a survivor and so are you.” ~ Paisley (Chap. 42)

Blurb: The circle of life. It's something we all know about but are never truly prepared for the unexpected. The unexpected that comes out of nowhere. No warning, no heads up, nothing. Just God giving us pure bliss and happiness and then taking it away in the blink of an eye. For me, losing my husband to a massive heart attack on our one-year wedding anniversary, and at the age of twenty-seven, was something I didn't think I could ever heal from. The emptiness, the loneliness, the numbness, and the need just to get through the day was overwhelming. My name is Paisley Logan and this is my story.
I'd never lost anyone before. I'd never experienced death. I felt like God was playing a cruel joke on me. How could he bring her into my life and then take her away so young. Even the best laid plans in life get altered. Mine did. Everyone kept telling me that time would heal all wounds, but this was a wound that would never fully be healed. Trying to get back to the normalcy of life was exhausting, so I didn't try anymore. My name is Ben Preston and this is my story.
UAU!!!! Livro com uma história maravilhosa e que nos emociona do início ao fim! Muito lindo e chorei litros! Super recomendo! Os personagens são humanos e a história é contada de maneira sensível e muito envolvente! --------------- WOW!!! Book with a wonderful story that we love from start to finish! Very beautiful and I cried a lot! Super recommend! The characters are human and the story is told in a manner that is sensitive and very engaging!
This book somehow landed on my kindle as a freebie rec. Here on GR it is titled She writes Love - but if you want to get this book for your Kindle now.....it has been retitled --- When I'm with you. Available on KU. I'm not familiar with this author at all, so this is my first read of hers. and I see she has a TON of other books - I enjoyed this one so much so I will have to check her backlist out...but it's long and daunting!!
This is a beautiful story of Paisley and Ben, both young widows deep in grief. I loved their story of coming together, working through hard times and life. Loved the California beach setting and all the fun extended family!!! A definite recommend for a nice, sweet, teary eyed wonderful story!!
4-2016 Update: I just read this for the second time. Ben and Paisley's story is incredible and I love it even more than the first time I read it. It is truly remarkable and if I could find them I would read a book like this every day. I normally read approx 350 books a year and I would love to read more like this. After the pain and agony of loss that the MCs went through and watching them help each other to being to live again, well, it just made their connection, their love, that much more intense. Thank you Sandi Lynn for this marvelous read. I will reread next April, a yearly tribute to a beautiful love story.
4-2015 This is a beautiful story that includes deep, abiding love, loss, and the inability and finally the ability to move forward. WOW! It ran the gamut.
Paisley's beloved young husband of one year dropped dead of a major heart attack on their one-year wedding anniversary right in front of her. She knows life will never be the same again and she cannot and will not move forward.
Ben lost his wife to cancer and even though he had time to prepare, he is still devastated with grief and cannot move on.
By chance...or divine guidance, they ran into each other at a widow/widower support group and a spark immediately ignited though they both tried to deny it. They thought about each other throughout the days and nights but fought hard not to 'feel' too much. Every Friday night Ben goes to a bar to have a beer and fish and chips to carry on the tradition that he and his wife set years ago. One Friday evening he meets a man named David and David begins to give Ben advice on how to win this new woman even though Ben would prefer he didn't. At times David really ticks Ben off because he hits too close to home and knows things that leaves Ben stumped as to how he knows.
Ben and Paisley both have interfering families who are very concerned about them and push for them to move on. Poor Paisley, her family is a hoot but there is not a one of them who can keep a secret or mind their own business. Ben's family worries and tries to invite him out to dinner to get him out of the house but that is not what Ben wants or needs during this time of devastation and heartache.
But through it all Ben and Paisley begin spending more time together. No one understands what they feel and what they have been through, but they perfectly understands each other.
An incredible story of heartache, deep love and devastating grief. This is a must read, a story definitely worthy of an award. Do not miss this wonderfully written story. I already have it in my Re-Read file and will do so in a month or so. It touched me like very few books ever have. It did not make me a weepy mess as others have commented although I was tearful off and on. It drew me in and would not let me go until the end.
The moment I finish an amazing book, I have to tell people about it. She Writes Love was one of those, everyone I spoke to, I had to tell them how amazing it was from start to finish.
Paisley and Ben both lose the love of their lives. Reading about their pain, I felt everything they felt. My heart broke more and more. Learning to move on and be on their own was hard for them both in many ways. Having support from family and friends made a big difference. Sometimes though, the support got all too much, people pushing them to do things before they felt it was time was something that was too much to bare. A man put them both in each others path, it was the best possible thing to happen for them both. Not only for comfort, but friendship and understanding.
Reading this book, my heart truly broke. You see how loss can really affect people's everyday life but they have to go on and keep living everyday to the full, not only for themselves but for their loved ones past and present. Healing takes time and sometimes it takes the right person to heal along with you. I fell in love with Ben and Paisley's character and fight.
She Writes Love is a story of self discovery, love, friendship, healing and moving on. When I finished I cried hard, not because I was sad as such. It was more because the book built me back up again, I had this feeling of content and bliss. All the emotions came back to me from the very first page. Amazing writing and one amazing story to match. Another must read book from Sandi Lynn.
AMAZING!! Absolutely loved it and couldn't put it down. It's been a rough year for me personally and I though I have read several great books it still took me several days to read them. This one was about a day and only because I had things to do and couldn't constant read!
" I'm a survivor and so are you" Paisley. Oh my god... I can't stop crying! why did I finish it so fast? I can relate to the pain of losing someone we truly love. Every word in this amazing novel did touch my heart and I loved every single minute of it.
The cycle of life. It’s something we all know about but are never truly prepared for the unexpected. The unexpected that comes out of nowhere. No warning, no heads up, nothing. Just God giving us pure bliss and happiness and then taking it away in the blink of an eye. When you think of people dying, you think of the old who have fully lived their lives. You don’t think about the younger people who have just begun to build their future, nor do you think about the children that have just begun to live. It’s cruel and it’s unwanted. It leaves us devastated and to the point where we feel we can’t go on. It leaves a hole, an empty space in our hearts that stay with us until we heal. We all heal eventually, right? As the days go on and the years pass by, we never forget the ones we lost and we never forget the pain they left behind. But we do manage to feel somewhat normal again, maybe not completely, but we have no choice. For me, losing my husband to a massive heart attack on our one year wedding anniversary, and at the age of twenty-eight, was something I didn’t think I could ever heal from. The emptiness, the loneliness, the numbness, and the need to just get through the day was overwhelming. My name is Paisley Logan and this is my story.
Ben
Life. Full of surprises, disappointments and heartache. It’s strange how we live life with certainty. We’re certain that we’ll find the love of our life, get married, have children and live happily ever after. No one is ever prepared when a life threatening illness hits. We’re so busy living our daily lives that we don’t think about such things. I was naïve until my wife was diagnosed with cervical cancer and passed away less than a year later. I’m angry. She was the love of my life and we’d only been married five years. We wanted to start a family, and it’s when she had trouble getting pregnant that she was diagnosed. I’d never lost anyone before. I’d never experienced death. I felt like God was playing a cruel joke on me. How could he bring her into my life and then take her away so young. Even the best laid plans in life get altered. Mine did. Everyone kept telling me that time will heal all wounds, but this is a wound that would never fully heal. Trying to get back to the normalcy of life was exhausting, so I didn’t try anymore. My name is Ben Preston and this is my story.
I had finished this book a couple of days ago but I wanted to wait just a little bit before writing this review... Why? Because this book deserves a Honest, Incredible and Deserving review, one that I hope to write to do this book justice.
Finding your soulmate your " one true love " is not something that everyone has or will ever experience, but when you do have that you want to be able to share it with the world and be with that person all of the time, your life and there life intertwine and become one. But what happens when sometimes circumstances that are out of our control happen? What happens when your pushed to the intimate test, what happens when you have to survive, struggle, heal and learn to move on? Can you do it? And how!
In this INCREDIBLE story you follow the lives of Ben & Paisley trying to do just that, they are two different people but tied together by a common bond, one bond that nobody should have to go through, let alone at there age. This story is about life and lessons and heartache, it's about struggling, moving on from something so devastating and the will to do so.this book from the very begging pages had me reeling, it was so honest and to see what Paisley & Ben go through tore me apart but it was a story so many live everyday.
Please I truly want you to read this book, Sandi did an Incredible job with this and Paisley & Ben story deserves to be heard and shared.
A story about love, loss, coping, friendship, family and moving on. Paisley and Ben have both experienced a great loss in their lives, and are both trying to cope and live. They both understand and truly "GET" what the other is dealing with.
Paisley may be lost in her life, but she is still able to function and give great love advice through her column. She is unhappy and depressed, but you never pity her. Ben may be a hot fireman, but that's not all he is. He is also sad and lost, but has a heart of gold. Through the entire book, I just found myself rooting for them to be able to take the next step in their lives. No, it is not easy to move on after the heart wrenching loss of a loved one. But, with the support of each other and their families, these two find a way to take steps to moving on.
I have greatly enjoyed all of Sandi Lynn's book, however, She Writes Love...is my absolute favorite. It is so full of heart and understanding. As I read this book, I "felt". That's when you know an author has brought you into their fictional world, when you can actually feel the story. Thank you Sandi for this amazing journey.
I just finished She Writes Love and let me tell you I love this book. Paisley and Ben are two people who lost the love of their lives to death. They learned together how to find love again and to let the guilt go from moving on from their first love. I loved Keaton and Paisley relationship. Keaton was a great brother and was helping Paisley endure her loss. Her family was very supportive too. Now David. He was awesome to help encourage Ben not to give up on Paisley. This was a great read. I had tears, big alligator tears, coming down my face towards the end. Don't worry all is great!!!! I love Sandi Lynn's writing. Thank you Ms. Lynn for another great book and sharing with us!! my favorite quote from the book...
"Keaton told me once that life is like the ocean. You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to ride them. Just like you can’t stop life, but you can learn to live it"
She Writes Love by Sandi Lynn absolutely blew me away. It was so beautifully written and pulled at every emotional string I have. I was crying just a few pages into the book and I could not put it down. This is a story of love and loss and letting yourself love again.
Paisley and Ben both married the love of their life and were madly in love. When Paisley's husband died on their 1 year wedding anniversary, her entire world came crashing down. Ben was happily married for five years when his wife died of cancer. The strong firefighter was lost and broken. Pushed into going to a spousal support group, Ben and Paisley met each other and found a commonality in their grief. They form a beautiful friendship and help each other heal. This is their story of pain, hope, healing and love. She Writes Love is a definite five-star read for me!
My emotions had completely gone to overdrive with this. It was amazing. It was heartfelt. It felt too real. People can relate to it 'cause their story really happens.
Ben and Paisely had good chemistry in here. I loved their characters individually, and also as a couple. Their meddlesome families too, but let's be real, families are like that. ;) But what really caught my attention was Keaton. He's really interesting. And what has been going on with him and Leah. I wish Sandi would write a book for them.
And as always, I love Sandi Lynn. I've already been a frequent reader of her novels, and a fan. She may come to recognize me, hell, I gush over her novels on Twitter. Hahaha. May she continue to grace us with stories about love and the beauty of life. :)
I loved this book! It was such a sweet story with very likable characters. Grief brought them together in a very realistic way and I really liked how well they fit together and how understanding they were with each other. This book deals with a very sad situation and even though the topic is always present, you don't feel suffocated by it. You know the H/h are grieving but it's so good to see them moving on, which makes this almost a light read. Specially beautiful how they build this friendship bit by bit, which later turns into a mature and deep love. Something I really liked is that it's not an insta-love thing, but you get to see them slowly falling for each other. Go grab this book, you won't regret it!
This was nice story of grieving souls finding their way to one another. Ben and Paisley both lost their significant others and are mourning them and meet by chance. From then on a friendship starts because they understand one another and the hurt they feel. I loved their families and friends they were great characters, i especially loved Keaton and Leah. It was a sad story but you got to see how each person deals with lost in their own way and their own time. In the end Ben and Paisley moved on with one another and opened themselves to love.
This was really a heart warming story about 2 people that loss someone and weren't able to see pass their loss to be happy in life. I did not know what to expect from this book because the description doesn't say much. I am a BIG Sandi Lynn fan anything she writes I read and I have not been disappointed by her. This book is just sweet and I really enjoyed everything about it. I have to say the ending did shock me in some ways only but like I said this is a beautiful story and it's a definite must read.
I didn't love this book as much as I thought I would. This is one of my "go-to" plot lines because I like the idea of people healing together but I could not take how much Paisley's family pushed her to go past her grief. It wasn't even a year yet since her husband's death. That kind of turned me off from her family and Paisley herself wasn't that much of a MC. I just wasn't connected to her as I was to Ben.
Ben's second plotline, I caught on to it earlier in the book.
A standard, very sweet romance about two people who meet at a loss of spouse support group. It follows the two (much younger than most of the other support group members) with their individual POV's as they try to cope with their losses, their feelings of guilt as they start to have feelings for another (alive) person, and their irritation at their family's intrusions, while well meaning, but interfering with their ability to heal. This maybe was a little too sweet for me but it was a good read.
Fantastic love story . I loved this it was something different to what I have read in the past , to see two heartbroken people coming together and getting a second chance at love a year after they both lost their husband and wife in different circumstances .i loved the ending when I finally figured out who David was I loved how he was put in to the story I thought he was weird at first but I understand know and glad he was their to help Ben along the right path to paisley. I also loved Keaton such a supportive brother I hope we will get to read a story about him too
This book is simply amazing. I love the fact that the story feels so real and the fact that the characters aren't perfect and have flaws, I think that's what really makes this book so beautiful. I love Sandi Lynn, she's the only author that I can honestly say that I've read all of her books and continues captivating me with her stories. She's definitely one of the best authors of contemporary romance ever.
