Defeat the enemy. Win the boy. Live happily ever after. But life "ever after" isn't as easy as it used to be. Harper's gone from being a member of a small demon lair to co-Prime of one of the most powerful lairs in the US with a mate who, though hot as hell, is just a mite overprotective - I mean, you get kidnapped by dark practitioners just once ...

Then one of Knox's demons goes rogue, and in his madness decides Knox Thorne must die. Harper's worried. Knox isn't - at least until he discovers his mate's willingness to get between him and danger.

Now, Knox has a new priority: Keep Harper safe ...no matter what it takes. But Harper begins to suspect there's more danger than one rogue demon. It seems the combined strength of Harper and Knox has upset the balance of power in the demon world and there are those who are determined to right that wrong. Because when you move up the food chain, sometimes the other predators just want to take a bigger bite.

4.5 Fires of Hell stars

After I finished Burn(the first book of this series), I initially thought that the next book would be a new couple as there were plenty of hints regarding two of the sidekicks. Imagine my glee when I discovered we would get more of Knox and Harper.

description

And you know what, it was positively delicious!!

Whatever Suzanne Wright is "cooking" up I want more!!!

This book is very much a continuation of Harper's and Knox's story. We didn't get to see much of them being properly together in the previous book but boy, did we get a good inside to their relationship and day to day life with this one.

description
description
description

Sure it wasn't as action packed as the first one but we still got new demons, more info about the baddies, predictions, intrigues and super, psychic fingers hot sex (you read that right psychic fingers) with a nice twist towards the end.

description
description
description

The majority of the book is how Knox and Harper are finding their way in their relationship. Dealing with each others overprotectiveness and trying to find the middle ground. Knox loves Harper for exactly what she is. A fiercely independent demon that doesn't back down but he has trouble dealing with the repercussions of her independent nature and her willingness to sacrifice her self to save him. Harper has to deal with his need to protect and control everything around her to keep her safe and his temper when she puts her self in danger. I also loved the role reversal at the end. Suzanne Wright made them walk in each others shoes and that was a fantastic way to show them how to work out their troubles.

I did have some minor quibbles but to be honest I was enjoying reading about these two so much I quickly forgot about them. We do have some reiteration from the previous book but if I hadn't re-read it half a dozen times I probably wouldn't have noticed and would have been grateful for the reminders.

Suzanne Wright is my drug and I need more to feed my addiction! When is the next book coming?!!!

⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱*I still expect more from this book*⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱
“Just because you’re, like, super powerful doesn’t mean people shouldn’t defend you.” But he was looking at her like she was a cute harmless little bunny that was obviously on drugs. She sighed. “You’re still not fearing my mighty wrath.”
“I’m trying.”
“One day I will unleash it and you will flee in terror. Why are you laughing? It’s only the truth. A sphinx in full-on berserker-mode can wreak major destruction and instill fear into the hearts of all who…
stop laughing!”

Re-read: 07.07.2018
Purely re-reading this one to be up to date when I start reading book three and four. It's still strange that even though I've read this book before, meaning I know the outcome, I still expect more for the book. I mean it's about the most powerful demon in existence, Knox Thorne and his mate and anchor, tattooist and sphinx, Harper Wallis.
“Stop right there, bitch!”
Snapping her gaze from her cell phone to the pistol now aimed at her head, Harper Wallis froze. Well, shit. She couldn’t deny that she had some karma to burn off. She was no angel. Being a demon, she was quite the opposite, in fact. But having a gun pointed at her by a human with a shaky hand and dilated pupils that said he was drugged up to his eyeballs… well, it just felt like the universe was being a little unfair, that’s all.

I love Knox, so it's annoying that the book didn't live up to my expectations. Though my expectations is - and probably always will be - too high. Overall, the re-read was boring, I kept finding - and stopping - myself from skimming. I even skimmed the sex scenes. Not good. Also, I'm still not happy about
New Rating: 2.5 (it's still Knox, so I literally can't make myself go any further down in rating) stars
“And you finally fear my mighty wrath, right?” She frowned when he hesitated to answer. Why the hesitation?
“I’ll admit your demon was a little scary.”
“A little? She was freaking terrifying.”
More like high on power and bloated with rage, he thought, but he decided not to say that out loud.
“She was!” insisted Harper. “I can be just as terrifying when I lose it.”
“Is that so?”
“Yes.” And she did not like the twinkle of amusement in his eyes.
“Terrifying?”
“I can be so totally terrifying that I scare even me. Why are you laughing? I’m serious, it’s true. You just don’t think so because you’ve never actually seen me that way. If you did, you’d freak out. Really, you would. I’m telling you, fully grown men have run the other way rather than face me when I’m in Berserker mode and –
stop laughing!”

Disappointed...
I'm sorry to say this, but I'm actually disappointed. I mean... I felt like the book was so alike the first one... It was almost predictable and for the most part; I was actually bored :O I love Knox and I love Harper, and I specially love together, but to be honest; not much happened in this book. It was slow and I caught myself many times wanting/starting to skim... Which I find horrific! I wanted to love this book so, so much, but I think I was a bit too excited :O
“You’re fucking everything to me. Don’t ever think differently.”

Still good...
Don't get me wrong, I did like it, it was still good, but it wasn't as good as the Burn. Knox was still perfect though. God, I love him. Harper was still going strong, and together they were still a damn great power couple, but in the end; something was missing for me to love it, unfortunately. Also Oh, and am I the only one that got the feeling that Suzanne Wright is writing another book with Knox and Harper?
“I want to shield you. Protect you. Fucking possess you … But never change you.”

Quick basic facts:
Genre: - (Adult) Paranormal Romance
Series: - Series, Book Two
Love triangle? -
Cheating? -
HEA? -
Favorite character? - Knox Thorne.
Would I read more by this author/or of series? - Yes.
Would I recommend this book/series? - Yes.
Will I read this again in the future? - Probably. It's Knox.
Rating - 3.5 stars.

I finished the book! I can't believe I finished it!!! Why?! Why did I had to read it so quickly?! WHY?!!! I read it the whole day, I held myself back and tried to read it slow but now look what happened! The story is finished and what do I do know, huh?!!! Wait another year for a third book, which btw. we don't know if it will come out (but I'm praying that it will)! I can't take it! It's torture, Suzanne Wright I hate you for writing such good books and then letting us wait so long. Not fair!

Anyway, fantastic book, plot, characters and just solid 5 star read.

And now we shal wait in silence for the next book...

I enjoyed the Burn and got caught in the Blaze

I have been DYING for the next instalment of the Dark In You series. I stalked and waited, stalked a little more and then FINALLY the word came out that Blaze had a release date. See, I read and loved Burn…I mean really, REALLY LOVED Burn. So, knowing that it was going to be a series I had a deep hope that this would be one of those series that Suzanne Wright wrote 10 years ago and has been hesitant to release it to the world. No such luck. We actually have to wait patiently for her to create another masterpiece. Well, paranormal lovers, the wait is over. Blaze is upon us and it is as EPIC as I hoped it would be.

We are back visiting Knox and Harper’s world. It is always very nice of an author to give me an opportunity to slot Mr Gandy as the hero. Tall, dark and sexy…who else would I be thinking of? Luckily, hubby has light brown hair so he’s not too upset that I HAVE to find someone else to picture (wink, wink). Anyways, so Mr Gandy…I mean Knox and Harper are settling into married life and it’s not all plain sailing.

I think the best way for me to explain why I loved Blaze so much, is to break it down a bit. Knox is super possessive and totally in love with Harper. He tells her, shows her and growls at anyone who makes his mate uncomfortable. Knox struggles to not take over her life. It’s what he’s used to doing and he has enough power to make his wishes heard and adhered to. He wants to protect her from all the bad stuff, but he knows that Harper is an independent woman trying to get used to someone who cares about her. Knox also knows that the independence and confidence that he struggles with, is one of the main reasons why he was attracted and fell in love with her.

Now, Harper…wow, this chick is AWESOME!! My absolute favourite part of her character was her confidence in dealing with people who don’t think she’s good enough for Knox. She has faith in him and never doubts his devotion. I’ll just step in here and say that I would absolutely LOVE to be that confident. I know that I’m hubby’s “love of his life”, but I also think that every other woman wants him too. Hubby laughs at me all the time about it. He thinks I look at him with rose coloured glasses. BUT…he is perfect...for me. I still want her confidence. I loved that Harper would smirk, snigger and snort at the women who say that Knox won’t keep her long. I hated that they felt it was OK to look down at her because she was raised by imps and a Wallis to boot. Sometimes, you could tell that the comments hurt, but she kept her head up, looked them straight in the eye and told them she didn’t care what they thought.

Now, one of the major reasons I love this series is that the additional characters are as lovable as the main characters. Jolene, Harper’s Grandmother and Lou, Lucifer (the devil), still play a part but not as big. In Blaze we get to know the gang from Harper’s tattoo parlour and the sentinels a bit better. I would love it if they get their own stories.

The sexy times were HOT!! Suzanne Wright definitely knows how to give you intimate scenes that show the connection between the characters. The little touches outside of the bedroom show that their need for each other is not based solely on sex. Affection is shown by the thoughtful gestures and concerns they have for each others safety.

To be honest, about halfway through the book I was wondering if there was going to be any noteworthy action. I’m kind of used to the heart pumping, nail biting scenes where lives are on the line and you’re questioning who to trust. The storyline does have the mystery and intrigue bubbling along from the beginning but it doesn’t really start to get gripping until the last third of the book.

I mentioned it above, but we do have the pesky exes (Knox's) showing their faces AGAIN!! Knox wants to “deal” with them, but Harper needs to earn the respect of the lair and asks him to “stand down”. It was kind of funny knowing that it was against the grain for him to do that. Harper again shows her strength and confidence in how she deals with “The Dolphin” and the other snooty leg-spreaders.

Big call, but I’m going to say that THIS is my favourite paranormal series. I originally was hesitant about reading Burn because demons didn’t appeal to me. The devotion Knox and Harper show to each other, additional characters and intriguing plots grab my attention and keep it easily. After reading both of the Dark in You books, I’ve decided I want a bit of Dark in me too.

I'm a very big Suzanne Wright fan !! I loved every single book I've read by this author and I knew this was gonna be another hit for me.

I loved Harper and Knox the first time around, but I loved them even more in this second book.

This one can not be read as a stand-alone, you will have to read the first book, "Burn" first.

Book 1 is about the two of them coming together and forming a relationship. In this book, they are solid and going strong. There are however some outside threats being made to the two of them. Of course, this pisses off both demons, who are very protective and possessive of one another. I especially love Knox's demon....

 photo tumblr_inline_n3o46gVSVB1ru8mj9_zps9x8rog7u.gif

Harper was her usually "kick-ass" self, and she surprised herself and even me when shit got dangerous.

 photo eyes-animated-gif-3_zps7zsjyhax.gif

I can't wait to see what's gonna happen next and if there will eventually be a demon baby named Lucifer...wielding the flames of hell !! I always like reading about Lucifer...he's such a dork. I also love all the side-characters in these books and I would love a story about Tanner and Keenan !!

I won't go into the plot, because it will make no sense if you haven't read book one, and I also don't want to spoiler anything for those who want to start this series.

If you like demons, action, steam, fun, kick-ass females and possessive men...you should give this series a try !!!

I love Knox and Harper and the world that's been created plus all the secondary characters particularly Harpers friends, family and the sentinels but he funniest has to be Lucifer, he's hilarious.

This book has a bit of everything a strong powerful and incredibly hot alpha male, a female that's funny, intelligent, strong and takes absolutely no shit from anyone. Friends that have her back regardless and a family that's unlike any other and it's funny, laugh out loud funny in places.

I'm loving this series but as with the previous one I'm about 2 years late so I'm keeping my review short and skipping my usual summary.

It is very very rare that I will read second book about a couple that already got their HEA. I just never seem to like them and would rather discover a new couple instead of reading about people I was already finished with. But when I heard Knox and Harper were getting another book, I just had to have. I needed more of this amazing couple!

In Blaze Suzanne Wright gave us less action than in Burn but double the amount of passion. We got to see more of Harper and Knox together and I loved the dynamic between them. Harper is still a total bad ass that can fight her battles, and it made seeing Knox trying not to control her so much more entertaining. But don't worry he was still a Alpha male that would fight anyone that even dared to hurt his mate.

Overall, this book shouldn't be missed. I loved this couple and I think their story is one that any fan of the Paranormal will enjoy so it is definitely a recommend from me. Burn should be read before Blaze, it cannot be read as a standalone.

4 Stars!

This was a great read, as expected. I am slightly disappointed with the plot, I guess I expected a bit more action? Knox and Harper seemed quite domesticated in this book, which wasn't bad. Just really different, seeing them be all couple like...

Oh Knox... he is seriously dreamy, and will always be one of my favourite book boyfriends <3

"You'll never be free of me." He slowly slid her up his cock, loving the way her pussy tried to hungrily suck him back in. "You'll always belong to me. And this pussy..." He yanked her back down, burying himself in her once again. " This pussy is mine and it'll only ever be mine. Isn't that so?"

I hope Tanner and Devon get a story, I enjoyed seeing glimpses of them together and their dynamic is hilarious.

Love the author, love the series. The End.

So the rumors are true, This book IS a Great read, just not as Stunning as Book 1.

So, A lot of guys here on GR already know that I'm a huge fan of Suzanne Wright's writing. With my favorite being her Deep your veins, followed by Dark In you,The Phoenix and The Mercury series (In that order.) . So I'll admit,my rating may be slightly biased when it comes to this read but in my defense I found this book absolutely delicious !So much, that I'm probably going to go back and re-read this as soon as I get this review done. ;D

To all my lovely friends expecting a strong suspense filled plot,I have just one thing to say.
Please DON'T.
No really. Don't.In fact I would probably recommend thoroughly lowering your expectations before diving into this one.

More than the actual plot this book concentrates more on Harper & Knox's relationship as a couple.Sure, you do have a bit of suspense to chew on every now and then. But otherwise, the light suspense plot kind of takes a bit of a backseat in this book when compared to H&K's extended romance filled sexathon that hold a substantial portion of the % in Blaze. NOT that I'm complaining or anything ;)

“I’d started to feel numb to everything. Then there was you. And it all changed. You surprise me. Defy me. Frustrate me. Amuse me. Tease me. Having someone do those things… it was like waking up after a long yet unfulfilling sleep.”

It was an absolute pleasure to read their story and watch their characters grow and develop with every page.Since I love both of them so much,I didn't really mind the slight drag of plot here.Though it could also attribute to the fact that I finished Blaze in just one sitting and didn't really notice that little point until writing this review..

My favorite part of the whole book is actually the ending. At on point, past around 80% as we approached the climax,I honestly thought SW was planning on ending this one just as she did in Book 1. But I can't tell you how MUCH I LOVED the little twist in the end, without giving away the whole climax..so I wont ;)

Would I recommend it?
Yes Defiantly ! We not just get more Knox & Harper but also a LOT more his sentinels and the Wallis gang ! So if ur fan of SW's crazy characters. I would say go for it :)

Would I be willing to read this series's squeal ? If another one ever comes out ?
*Duh*What Kind of question is that ? XD There better be a squeal to this SW! *Hint Hint* ;)

Any Trigger warnings ?

"And that's why I love you."
description

Blaze is the second book in the Dark in You Series. Harper and Knox are finally together and should be ready to start their happily ever after. Unfortunately, Harper is now adjusting to her new life as co-Prime. When adversaries are all around trying to drag Knox and Harper down, they must be faithful to each other and be willing to do whatever it takes to overcome.
description
Told in dual POV, Blaze is even more intense than the first book in the series. As Knox is determined to keep Harper safe, we see a power struggle continue to grow between the happy couple. Harper is one of the strongest heroines I have ever read and the way in which she finds the balance between loving Knox and staying true to herself is nothing short of perfection. In addition to the smoking hot passion between Knox and Harper, the action is complex as the battle for power continues to dominate every page!
"I love feeling your tight pussy squeezing me. Love how wet you get for me."
Overall, I cannot say enough about Blaze and the entire Dark in You Series. Suzanne Wright has always been one of my go-to authors. Her complex characters, passionate romance, and expertly crafted plots never cease to blow me away! Be forewarned, this series is addictive!

A nice re-read, it was lovely touching base with Harper and Knox, as well as the array of fab friends and family that surround them, that being said, this isn’t one of my favourites in the 4 books focused on Knox and Harper.

Loved how Harper dealt with the catty and jealous women who couldn’t leave her alone. Knox’s reactions to Harper’s dad continue to amuse.

reread,
I hated that so much of the basic points were repeated
OW drama
Weird sex

Reread, spoilers ahead

As much as I love this series and this couple this one irked me endlessly

OW drama out the wazoo, if Knox didn't actually sleep with them then they're bitter and jealous because they want him
The h just rolled with it, she didn't get pissed at him and I wanted her to, Not to create unnecessary angst but to have a reasonable reaction to constantly tripping over one of Knox's females
Good and interesting plot

If it wasn't for the dolphin and the planner I'd have enjoyed this one much more, nevertheless I enjoyed this series as a whole

Okay, I'm going to have to change the first book to a 5 star. Could I break from it, yes. Did I want to, no.

The fact that I not once have gotten annoyed with this couple is insane! There is not one iota of miscommunication in this series (so far anyway). There is suspense, and thrill. A ton of hilarious side characters. I can't find anything wrong actually!

It was refreshing to have a book where the couple doesn't make irrational stupid decisions that cause ridiculous fights. The couple of times they had disagreements they figured it out like normal people, or demons I guess.

Lou and Jolene are freaking hilarious. Actually I don't know which side characters are my favorite.

This second book in the series again focuses on Harper and Knox and in this instalment we have a demon on the edge of going rogue and he's fixated on taking Knox and Harper down however he can.
He wrongly believes that they will have a child together with the capability and potential to annihilate the world.
But this demon is himself a tool for others dark agendas and the ultimate goal here is to take Harper out which in turn will hopefully weaken Knox's control.
Knox will stop at nothing to protect his mate and nobody targets her without suffering his and his demons wrath.
This was again action-packed throughout and choked full of sexy antics.
The chemistry between these two anchors and mates is off the charts and sets the pages alight with its intensity.
Knox is his full-on dominant self both in and out of the bedroom especially when it comes down to Harper's safety and Harper herself shows her teeth here and bites back somewhat much to Knox and his demons dismay, her antics threating his iron-clad control.
One thing that did bother me slightly and I did notice this as well in the first book was that I wasn't a fan of the constant former and wannabe bed-buddies that kept rearing there heads.
Though I have to say Knox himself is completely steadfast and loyal when it comes to Harper and that I did like I was just sick of seeing her constantly have her nose rubbed in it and would have liked her to catch a break.
Though I must say I did chuckle at all the turtle references and the bestiality insinuations that Harper threw Knox's way, highly amusing.
Also totally loving ole Lou and hoping we get to see more of him he was fantastically weird and random.
I also thought that there were times that Harper could have let Knox stand up for her and it wouldn't have affected her position really, at times she could be too single-minded about going it alone.
I am interested in seeing where this is going and also unmasking the identities of the other horsemen.

4.5

I loved this book, I truly did, I just didn't love it quite as much as the first book in the series--which was added to my top ten favorites of all time list, so you can guess how much I loved that book. Why didn't this one make it too? For a couple of reasons.

First, for the first half of the book we were given a lot of information that we already knew from the first book. Now, I know it's important, and the author did a great job of weaving it in, and maybe if I hadn't just done a reread of the first book wanting it fresh in my head, it wouldn't have bothered me as much. My mistake for not knowing what a great job the author would do to remind us of events past.

Next, while I gobbled up the first book, not once, but twice, this one didn't seem to hold my interest quite as well and at times I wanted it just to move along. Also, the sex scenes seemed a bit "been there done that" and toward the middle of the book, I found myself skimming through them only reading the dialogue.

And last--and again this is totally my fault--I put Knox on too high of a pedestal, and he didn't quite meet my expectations. He wasn't "bad-ass" enough. I wanted to see his demon come out to play a bit more. Now, where Knox may have dropped the baddie ball a bit, Harper picked it up and played one hell of a game. She is one "bad-ass" she-demon.

Now after all that you may think I didn't like this book but that is not true. I loved this book, I just loved the first book more and in all fairness, it really was a tough act to follow.
So 4.5--which is a really good rating for me, I'm stingy with my 5 stars. Knowing there is more story to tell has me excited to read the next book, diving in and getting lost in this wonderful fictional world.

4.5 stars. I loved this one ALMOST as much as the first. The thing I didn't love was the OW drama. Three different women (2of which the H had sex with in the past) kept getting in Harper's face. Now mind you, they were pathetic and she really didn't care. Also if the H was there he pretty much told them how it was and not in a nice way but still. It really didn't make me love it any less though. This series is amazing. Knox and Harper are amazing as are the secondary characters. I like the background storyline that's threaded through all of the books. Can't wait for the next.

I'm so bored and the repetitiveness makes me wanna bash my head in😃 I'm sick of the rinse and repeat sex scenes, plot, dialogue, and pretty much everything else. Would have been fine if it was just a standalone, but I can't stand much more of this😅 and I'm over the ow drama 🙃 I doubt I'll ever come back to this series, but I will keep it on the backburner just in case 👌

In this second installment Knox and Harper have new problems to fight. A demon close to going rogue believes that his “mission” is to save to the world and in order to do that he needs to kill Knox. The best way he believes he can do it is trying to get to Harper first…which doesn’t sit well with Knox and we’ll do everything to keep her safe. And so does Harper. What they don’t realize yet is that when they are the most powerful couple in the vampire world… some demons will want a piece of it and do everything to have it.

I’ve said before that Suzanne Wright is the PNR queen… but this has to be her best series yet. And I loved all the previous ones.
Steamy, sweet, a little emotional and with enough mystery and action to it these are some of the best books I’ve read in a while… and I’m not even the biggest PNR fan.
If you’re a fan of the genre, you have to read it. If you’re not, you have to read it as well. Wherever type of books of you like… you definitely have to read this!! (In case I was not clear enough yet.)

Rating: 5 Stars.
Characters Development: Harper is one of the greatest and most badass heroines I’ve read about and it’s impossible not to love her. Knox is sexy, completely alpha and amazing. Completely impossible not to love as well. Both of them together are one of the best couples I’ve ever read about (their demons help a little bit). Supportive characters are great and I’m really hoping we’re going to have books about some of them!

I liked this, I liked it a lot, but it wasn't as amazing as book one. Book one was about Harper and Knox meeting, bonding, falling in love, and battling an enemy. Book two is the aftermath of these two now living together and having a relationship.

Harper is Knox's anchor and mate = his soulmate. He and his demon are extremely possessive, dominating, and obsessed with Harper. Works for them, usually, but Harper doesn't let that equate to Knox getting his crazy way in everything. I'm glad that aspect of their relationship stayed the same and didn't change just because they became mates and living together. Harper is still ornery, contrary, and independent. But she does learn to compromise and work with Knox on their issues.

The book's plot is about how Knox and Harper's relationship has grown and is developing and how they deal with exterior forces. There are a lot of naysayers and disbelievers about their relationship, mainly the female population not believing he's off the market and especially not to Harper, who I've decided her family would be the equivalent of gypsies to us. That makes for a lot of negativity towards Harper and her family. Knox, obviously isn't a fan of anyone hassling Harper and has to learn to hold back his natural impulse to kill everyone and let her handle problems on her own. A lot of the book was about that.

The other plot was of a guy in Knox's lair going insane and trying to kill Knox. That was somewhat underwhelming because he's a mentally unstable person. It's much more interesting when the villain is evil. It also isn't completely concluded at the end of this book, leaving you with a cliffhanger for the next book. Hopefully it'll come out soon.

So, I liked this book, but it felt less exciting than the first book. Still good. Now gimme book 3!

Harper and Knox are beginning their lives together as anchors and mates, still in the honeymoon phase it is not always perfect though. Someone is out to harm Knox making him even more protective over Harper. Harper though is an independent woman, one of the things he loves his is her spirit but he would never be able to cope if something happened to her. Harper is willing to compromise but with danger lurking and other demons questioning if they really are a couple, she is trying to keep her head held high. The heat is getting turned up and for now, no one is safe.

What a fantastic sequel. I savored every moment, I hope there is more in the near future because I am not done with this couple. I liked how their relationship shifted and their is one brilliant moment that blew me away with this newly formed couple. Knox is adorable, he is tough on everyone but with Harper he is hard and sweet wrapped into one. More please.

This book was very consistent with the first and I felt Knox and Harper stayed true to their characters. If you liked them in Burn, then you’ll love them in this book. One of my favorite things about them is that they work together as a couple against their enemies instead of allowing them to pull them apart. There was plenty of drama to keep things interesting and I did feel the exes where coming out of the woodwork, however, I loved how Knox & Harper both dealt with it. They grew as a couple and were stronger. I liked what was revealed towards the end and can’t wait to see how everything gets handled in the next book. There is no cliffhanger and ended as a HFN.

This second book in the Dark in You series by Suzanne Wright was every bit as intense and exciting as the first. There are twists in this story that will have your head spinning. I like the way the characters are so well developed especially as each character has a person/dark entity duality sharing one soul/ body. This is an exceptional addition to the series. Romance, danger, suspense. This has a bit of everything.
I have this on Kindle and Audiobook. I most recently listened to the audiobook and the narration captures the mood and personalities wonderfully. Suzanne Wright always has amazing narrators working on her audiobooks.

4 fun, sexy, exciting stars!

The second book in The Dark In You series continues the story of Harper and Knox from Burn.

Quick recap: Harper is a demon from a small, cunning lair who works as a tattoo artist in the human world. Knox is one of the most powerful demons in existence, leader of his own lair and a successful billionaire in both the human and demon worlds. In the first book of the series Harper and Knox met and discovered they were anchors – psychically bonded to make each other stronger and to ground each other, providing protection from the threat of their inner demons taking over and turning them rogue. But more than just anchors, they discovered that they had an intense physical and emotional connection and they fell in love and were mated – to the absolute shock of the rest of the demon world.

This book picks up shortly after the first. Harper and Knox are together, committed and happy, but they are still adjusting to life together. Harper’s whole world has changed now that she is co-leader of a demon lair and mated to the most powerful and mysterious demons in the US. All she wants is a life with the man she loves – she’s not interested in the power or prestige that comes from being with somebody like him, but it’s not as simple as that. And then there’s the throng of Knox’s ex-lovers who believe that he will soon tire of Harper, and who try their best to push her away and keep themselves a part of his life. There’s only so much a woman can deal with, and thank God Harper has the wonderful strength and sarcastic wit that Suzanne Wright gives to all of her heroines. Her sense of humour is wickedly brilliant, and her comebacks had me laughing out loud.

“Do you really want to take me the fuck on, Belinda? I honestly hope you do. I have a lot of tension to work off. Smacking the shit out of you would really help with that.”

God I love Harper! Despite all that she’s dealing with, she doesn’t let stupid insecurities get to her. She’s strong and confident and she just goes along, doing things her own way and trusting that her relationship with Knox is strong enough to endure.

Knox may be an all-powerful badass, but he is thrilled to have Harper in his life. She has very quickly become everything to him, and he is revelling in being with her and introducing her into his world. But the man who is used to getting his way in everything is still figuring out how to deal with a sassy, independent woman who won’t bend to his every whim. And when a member of his own lair starts to turn rogue, with his deadly focus seemingly aimed towards Knox and his mate, his already over-protective nature becomes extreme.

“I want to shield you. Protect you. Fucking possess you … But never change you.”

It’s a balancing act for Harper and Knox as they work through it all, and with two such strong and stubborn personalities, there are lots of fireworks to be had (and that translates to the bedroom as well, because… DAYUM this book is SO freaking HOT!!!). But they are committed to their life together and I love that there is no stupid behaviour or unnecessary drama. They want each other, they love each other, they’re committed, and that’s it. Fantastic stuff!

“You’re fucking everything to me. Don’t ever think differently.”

But while all of this is happening, a new and dangerous threat is secretly building which could destroy everything that they have found together.

I really loved this book. It’s funny, sexy, romantic and intriguing with a nice amount of action and excitement and wonderful character dynamics. Knox’s sentinels and Harper’s friends and family all play a big part in the story, and I loved their involvement. The banter and wisecracks are continued over from the previous book and built upon further, and I really enjoyed the developing relationships. There is lots of laughter and fun throughout the story and it’s such a fun read, underpinned with a sense of darkness for all that the characters are facing, but it’s Harper and Knox and their relationship that carry this book, and I loved every moment of it.

4 stars.

3.5 stars

When I read the first book in this series, I somehow neglected to add this next book to my TBR list which is why it took me so long to pick it up. Luckily I realized my oversight and on a whim decided to just go ahead and read it immediately. It's only been 6 months since I finished book 1, but I quickly recalled most of the original story line and was able to pick up fairly easily.

There's a new bad guy introduced in this one and he's not really scary even though he does a very scary thing, which feels kind of bizarre to read. I mean (serious spoiler alert!). However, despite the blandness of the bad guy story line, I did find the romantic relationship developments, the catty women interactions, and the flying lessons to be entertaining. So overall, 3.5 stars and I'll read the next book. This time I remembered to add it!
