Prayer PathWay: Journeying in a Life of Prayer

Rate this book
“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.” Romans 12:12

“When God calls us to pray, He isn’t calling us to do something for Him. He’s calling us to receive something from Him—something we need: His light for our daily journey.”

God uses prayer to comfort, convict, and strengthen us. Following the acronym PRAYERS, Prayer PathWay guides you on a thoughtful, Godward journey for the rest of your life. Passages from God’s Word and fellow travelers fortify and encourage, while forms and resources give practical help for shaping your own customized prayer routine.

“Original in its conception and brilliantly structured—and it does just what it promises! This beautiful book rides on the vast sea of God’s Word and draws life from its depths. . . . There is nothing quite like Prayer PathWay.”
—R. Kent Hughes, Professor of Practical Theology, Westminster Theological Seminary, Philadelphia

“Prayer PathWay is a guide to lead us to the throne of grace, focus our prayers, and challenge our hearts. Laden with Scripture, this volume is inspirational, educational, and intensely practical. . . . I highly commend this outstanding resource to you as you consider your part in the great work and blessing of prayer.”
—Sally Michael, Cofounder, Children Desiring God

I need guidance in prayer. I do not mean the theoretical or ambiguously practical type of guidance that a book typically offers. I need the "Here, you can pray like this" type of handholding, disciple-making guidance. But I desperately do not want a new law prescribed to me...I fail at keeping God's law enough, I definitely do not want a manmade one added to it.

Kathi Westlund and P&R have produced the resource for which I've been looking. The concepts covered are simple yet profound. They're easy enough to dive in but have enough depth and layers to reward repeated readings and meditation.

Where the book shines is in the prayer journal aspect. The journal pages and topically arranged passages (as well as quotes) will help many (myself included) ground their prayers in and spark their thoughts with the Word of God.

This is a resource I will recommend and return to.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy of Prayer Pathway through the publisher and Netgalley:

Prayer Pathway is meant as a tool to help you pray your way through the day, and through life.

The author points out that we should start with Praise, and then we need to repent for our transgressions, then we should ask, yield, rejoice and finally Shalom, peace.

We are reminded that we are created to Worship, and shows us the importance of Praise. We are reminded too that if we repent Jesus forgives. The author reminds us that if we truly repent the Lord forgives.

I give Prayer Pathway five out of five stars.

Happy Reading.
