God, Israel, and You: The Scandalous Story of a Faithful God

Rate this book

Issues like abortion, homosexuality, and old-young earth debate often drive wedges both between the church and the world. Another polarizing issue is the Arab-Israeli conflict. Evangelical support for Israel among the younger generation is dropping at an alarming rate. Why is there such division between the church and the world and even among believers themselves about this issue?

God, Israel, and You attempts to bridge the gap by providing a courageous and honest look at Jesus, His involvement in the world, and how it relates to the issues of today. It makes the case for Israel by being pro-God and explaining His redemptive purposes for the Arabs to a new generation through scripture, history, and morality.

Believers are called to be ready with an answer for the faith that is within us. God, Israel, and You is about answers; it’s about the knowledge of God, finding hope in this chaotic world, and recognizing the story where we find a faithful God who is intimately involved with the affairs of mankind. Rather than coming at the issues with an us-versus-them mentality, God, Israel, and You reveals a God who is involved, who gets His hands dirty, and embraces the paradoxes of the Bible: it is both straightforward and mysterious, accessible and infinite, supernatural and practical. When we can accept the supernatural, we can recognize that God is using both Jews and Arabs, and the next generation in a way that reflects the character of Jesus, and we can better understand God, Israel, and ourselves.

Opening this book I was a little apprehensive, desperately hoping that it would not be an unbalanced and poorly researched, polarising rallying cry for or against Israel. I'm so glad that my fears were unfounded.

The tone of this book is excellent, the voice of the author is so approachable and the arguments are built on such biblical and logical foundations that it makes one of the most emotionally charged areas of the current era much easier to comprehend.

I love the full orbed biblical worldview which the authors assert and the way Michael Onifer and Joshua Charles point to the importance of God's narrative and purpose.

They use a great combination of stories to introduce their points. Some of which are worldview shattering philosophical and biblical truths.

He is bold in his biblical presuppositions, exegesis and assessments, speaking out of and backing up his points with the overarching truth of God and his Word.

I love the fact that he boldly explores the spiritual realms involvement in the irrational position of antisemitism and explores the other side of antisemitism towards Arabs.

This is a very balanced yet boldly true work dealing with Israel in context to the church and Gods purposes for the land and his people.

I would highly recommend this book, it is excellent... it's 5 stars from me. My review doesn't even begin to do the book justice... but I don't want to give you any spoilers... get a copy and read it

The most readable book on the issue of Israel I've read thus far. Clear, concise, and helpful in understanding who Israel is and how the church relates to her.
