Meeting gorgeous, rich, and urbane Nikolai Barinov outside of his bar, the most exclusive in New York, isn't fate. It's something darker, and much more dangerous. And although he doesn't know if he can trust me, he can't help falling for me. He would have been better off believing his instincts. He's not who he pretends to be, but what he doesn't know is, neither am I.
Piquing his interest will be the easy part. Seducing him is necessary. But discovering who we both really are might make us realize the hardest truth, our futures were never really our own to begin with.

This is a stand alone contemporary romance, with NO CLIFFHANGER, and a bit of intrigue, secrets, and lies.

This book is intended for adults only, 18+, due to sexual situations and adult language.

*****Please don't reveal any spoilers! Let everyone discover the secrets that lie within Nikolai and Arabella's pasts and future for themselves!*****

Like one of her characters, Melissa doesn't reveal much about herself at first glance. She's shy and reserved, she's socially awkward, and she constantly says the wrong thing at the wrong time. But if you take the time to get to know her, you'll see she knows how to have fun! Give her a few drinks, and she'll have you laughing and dancing in no time. In her mind, she's the greatest dj ever, and she especially loves upbeat 80's music. She started writing short stories and poems in elementary school, basically as soon as she picked up a pencil. When she's not writing, and studying (the end IS near!) she enjoys watching football, hockey, and she really loves live music (live, not recorded), and she will sing off key constantly (as long as no one else is around). She's also a huge moviephile, preferring big budget action movies. Also, she has several television shows she MUST watch, and if you interfere with her shows she will get angry! I received this beta copy in exchange for review.

This book has a bit of everything, I was intrigued to read what this book was about from the description... Hot man, danger, discovery and 18+ had me wanting to know more.

The book is told from Arabella s point of view, she works as a lawyer but this was not her true passion. This career choice was planned with an end goal in mind.

Nikolai Barinov is part of that, so when she meets him outside a bar it isn't fate it's just the beginning of the plan.

What she didn't expect is what happens next.

This book has some great scenes and really did keep you wanting to know where the story was going to take you. With Arabella fighting between what her head and her heart is telling her this could have been anywhere. There definitely are some surprises along the way.

If you enjoy a good romance/ thriller/ suspense with some 18+ scenes in then this is the book for you.

Nikolai and Arabella meet, but not by chance as it originally seems. There is so much more to this book. You get sucked in and curious. The mysteries unravel and you are drawn in deeper. Take a chance, as I did. I don't think you will be disappointed. I was caught off guard by a few things in this book and it was exciting. Often, books are really easy to figure out. I didn't have this one all set in my mind and that made it even better.

I received an e-ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This book took me by surprise. It was nothing like you would imagine it to be.

The beginning is a little hazy but as the story follows and things become clearer, this book is deep and dark and destructive to the soul.

Sometimes, certain things aren't what they really seem. This book is exactly that. There is perfect amount of mystery and sex and love and unimaginable things. It is perfect.

I loved Arabella, a lawyer with a plan, and even though Nikolai was hard to for me like at first, he slowly warmed up to me. The scenes which showed the true beauty of them both were written marvelously.

An action packed book, filled with the right amount of mystery and angst and confusion and sex and desire...What more could you ask for?

Excitement, mystery, romance and some of the hottest sex I’ve read in quite some time. Arabella is just wonderful. I love the internal struggle. She made me laugh, she made me cry. I am so in love these characters I want more! Melissa Silvey I cannot wait to read more from you.

If you love hot steamy romance with lots of excitement you must read this book! So worth your time!

When I first started Cold by Melissa Silvey, I was unsure of what I was going to find. I’ll be honest I had to read the book three times! But that was because I found it intriguing from the beginning. Cold revolves around mystery, betrayal, revenge and the possibilities of love.

Arabella Nelson has felt the loss of her father for so many years. She has only had her mother’s memories of him and the love of her mother to fuel her passion for vengeance for her father’s demise, until she meets Nikolai Barinov, knowing that this is the man she needs to seduce in order to get to the true person she needs.

But can Arabella seduce Nikolai to get who she needs or will she develop feelings for him and all of her careful planning not go as planned.

This book was so unique and original. Cold is gripping, suspenseful, sexy, saddening and even shocking!

You will understand and sympathize with the characters... and fall for them from head to toe!

Nik and Arabella are sensational, sexy, intriguing and glide wonderfully together... but can that last? Can the feelings be real or are they a means to an end?!!!

I enjoyed this book from start to finish.

I was sent an unedited beta copy of this book to read in order to help the author, in exchange for my honest review and opinion of the book so far, keeping in mind that it is an unedited beta copy.

The description of this book was full of mystery, which of course, instantly intrigued me and drew me in to the book. My love of mystery won me over once again!. I needed to know what this book was about, especially when all the author was saying was, “this book is full of secrets, so much so that I can’t really tell you much about it” and then there are other little hints, such as, you must be 18+ to read it. So how can I review this book, without giving away too many spoilers?

This is a story told from one persons point of view, Arabella Nelson, a 28 year lawyer, living in New York. Arabella suffered a loss before she was born, a loss that she has spent her whole life building towards putting right, no matter what the cost might be. Vengeance must be paid. But does it all go according to plan when she first meets Nikolia at a bar?

I know, I know. That’s not a very detailed description, but I don’t want to give anything away, especially if the author herself doesn’t want to give anything away! I liked the fact that this story was told from just one point of view, as it’s been a while since I’ve read a story with just one persons perspective and it was actually quite refreshing. I did find myself wondering what the other characters were thinking, wondering what they were thinking, but that just made it better for me, drawing me into the character more, as I was able to feel for her more, not knowing what the other characters were thinking or feeling.

This story contains so much and it isn’t just a romance or erotica book, but it has action, crime, excitement and even revelations in it, that can take over the main theme of the book.

It did need some more editing, which I knew before reading it, so I didn’t take that into account. When I finished reading this story, I did have one or two questions left unanswered, which I have expressed to the author and as this book is still in the editing stages, there may be time to still answer these questions. They are only small questions, but still questions that left me wondering and yearning for answers.

There may be a lot of romance and erotica books out there and coming out nowadays, especially after 50 shades, but I like how this one was different and stood out, for me anyways. It possessed elements that I haven’t read, combining together to create this piece of work.

The copy that I received was 111 pages long, but once editing is done and it is released, I can’t tell you how long it will officially be, but I do recommend that you give it a read. After all, if this sounds like your type of book, will 111 pages take you that long to read? Plus a book read is never really wasted time ;) So even going into this book blind, I really did enjoy it. That is why I am giving it 4 stars out of 5. I would’ve giving it 5 out of 5, but I did have questions at the end that were left unanswered, which I dislike with a book, a film, or anything.

Full of intrigue, suspense and an unexpected and unwanted romance.

Arabella has a plan and it involves Nikolai - son of a Russian mobster. Nikolai is cold and calculating, goes after what he wants and won't stop until he gets it. He wants Arabella, which fits nicely into her plan. What she doesn't expect is that she will fall for him.

Nikolai's actions and behaviour sometimes come across as childish rather than alpha male. While he is portrayed as cold, underneath is someone who just wants affection for the man he is rather than for what he does and has.

Arabella's calculating plan doesn't count on her own feelings for him getting in the way or betrayals from elsewhere, keeping this a fast paced and an on the edge of your seat read.

This was excellently written, with a good pace, strong characters and the right balance between all the different elements. Melissa Silvey is an author I will be coming back to in the future.

Cold was an interesting book from the start. It was fun and it even made me chuckle here and there. But I didn't fall in love with it. Even so, I couldn't put it down. The plot is mysterious and is designed to keep you going just to know what happens next.

Nikolai starts as the typical asshole but gradually shows more depth and Arabella hates that she likes what she finds once he opens up. The book was about the struggles and internal conflicts of the characters which when I was reading seemed like bipolar tendencies. The constant turmoil gave me a whiplash.

There's a major plot twist that turned things around for me and the ending was nice. The romance, however, was a bit lacking in my opinion.

I really enjoyed this book. Arabella meets Nikolai outside his club by chance, or was it? There was so much depth to this story, lots of mystery and some surprising revelations. I really enjoyed it from beginning to end.
