What a wonderful novel set in a fantasy world. Ariella's story has mystery, adventure, romance, twists, a little bit of everything, it's fast paced and it keeps you going from start to finish. You can't help but fall in love with the characters. I could not put this book down and it left me wanting more, cannot wait for the next instalment. Loved it!

I enjoyed this book rather a lot more than I expected. the plot had drawn my interest so I gave it a shot and I was really good. I liked the characters, their interactions with each other. the world building was okay and the main character took everything extremely well.

however, I did have a few issues with the book

- It needed to be longer- some scenes need expanding on. at some points, I felt I was only getting a snapshot of emotion from the main character instead of being completely overtaken by her thought process.

- while it went by rather quick I felt there need to be extra scenes as some scenes felt disjointed and slotted together with no connection.

- Dual perspective would have worked here- the villain felt really dry, maybe a few chapters from his perspective to built upon a reasonable foundation for me to truly hate the character.

All in all, I rather found myself enjoying this book and will read the next one.
