Eclipse of the Warrior

Rate this book
Vampires? Fae warriors? Who knew they were real. Somebody must have and they should have let the rest of us know.

While coming out of a movie, I followed a group of super-hot guys and ended up regretting it. I was pulled into the fight and I don’t know how I did it, but I killed a vampire! Now I’m running for my life.

I’m not supposed to know about their world, being a lowly human and all, but I also shouldn’t have been able to kill a vampire; a ripper is what they call themselves.

Now I have a choice. Well not really. A choice means options and mine are bad or worse. I can die or I can become a hybrid fae. Like I said, not much of a choice, one that sucks actually.

If I choose to become a fae, I have to help them fight the rippers who are kidnapping humans to take back to their planet. Oh, did I mention that they’re all from another dimension? They change humans into hybrid rippers and use them on the front lines of the battle between their two races.

The fae describe them as suicide bombers. Yep. Those are my choices…

This may appeal to younger readers who enjoy horror but it's not really my style.
The tale is written blog style in the voice of a young woman who sees what she thinks is a bunch of youths dressed for Comic Con cosplay, and follows them, only to find they are... something unpleasant. The night rapidly goes downhill although the good point is that the girl lets a vampiric thing gloat at her while she grabs a weapon and whacks it hard. My kind of girl.

The beings are a confusion of two sorts, constantly at odds, with origins ranging from aliens to fey to vampires to zombies. There's a whole lot of fighting, scratching and death. No real explanation of how nobody normal notices these running battles, except of course mind control. I'm sure that works on CCTV too. The writing style does not suit me but is young feeling and enthusiastic, so maybe when the author has matured some more as a writer I'll give her another try. Provided it's not more horror.

This ARC was sent to me by the author. This is an unbiased review.

Just imagine, you patiently saved every penny you could for what seemed like forever just so you could vacation at this amazing amusement park that has this roller coaster ride that has you drooling. You make it thru what was a surprisingly easy and fast line, feel your adrenaline pumping, board the ride and are whisked away happily climbing and climbing and climbing until finally.....you wake up. Yes you guessed it...cliffhanger!!! I can't take away any stars for it tho...guess this build up rocks! Recommend this book to any other die hard like myself that doesn't mind the roller coaster! I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I was asked to write a review of this book, but couldn't get it to download onto my kindle. So I took a look at the "sample". I liked it enough that I bought it, I have a emergency fund that I use for such things. (Like books, printer ink, printer paper, books, and of course books.) Anyway, I am impressed. Sure the plot-line is familiar, what's wrong with that? The characters had weight and believe-ability to them, there wasn't too much angst to deal with, and it reads fast. There are twists and turns to make it interesting. What's not to like? There is a lot to like about this book. I would suggest giving it a try or break or whatever. I'm a tough reviewer, and I think this was really well done, ergo 5 stars. For those YA readers, this book is a keeper.

Interesting

This story was interesting. The characters were engaging and intriguing and the storyline was unusual and entertaining. This is a series that I will read as it was different, good different.

This is a couple of chapters not a series of books. Good concept but the writing doesn't flow

I just couldn't get into this book. Awkward dialog between characters. Uninspired descriptions of everything. Stilted conversations. The author even made the Fae seem like young teenagers rather than an alien species. It was a bit embarrassing reading her supposed "sexy" description of them. I am mostly disappointed that I have the rest of her books and won't be reading them. I beg you not to purchase this book, you will just be wasting your money.

I honestly don't know exactly how to review this book. I liked the premise of the story and the characters but considering this is a short story already if it wasn't for the over explained situations and actions it would definitely be very short. I have to say I really didn't enjoy the fact the author felt the need to describe every single little detail and left nothing to the readers imagination. Also capital letters were over used when the main character was I think shouting, this could easily have been written with explanation marks and possibly in the non verbal writing following it.

I really do hate to leave bad reviews for books but I honestly didn't enjoy this book, not because of the characters or story line as previously stated but just because of the way it was written.

A very quick read that seemed simplistic in its structure and description and could have done with being a lot longer and more detailed description.

Very stereotypical of the fantasy genre with a very fantasy based title. The use of the word eclipse reinforced the interdimensional aspect of the book.

I didn't like B'Lana's character and thought she was written very simplistically and appeared to be a stereotypical damsel in distress and the interaction between characters didn't feel natural.

Overall I feel the characters need more work; which may happen naturally throughout the series and the book itself should have been longer and more detailed.

The ending was left on a cliffhanger, which would be picked up with the next book in the series, I would imagine.

it is Hollywood vampire ideals meets outer space rippers and fae in a battle that has landed on earth. A human woman B'lana is trying to tell the difference between movie vamps and the rippers. she has been scratched and infected by a ripper and is going to change into a fae hybrid to protect humans, since neither faction of the alien fighters cares about human life. First in a series that uses POV for the characters to give better insight to what is going to happen.

This was a quick read about a normal but curious girl who was at the wrong place at the wrong time. Rippers and Fae are now apart of her world. But is she ready for it? Pulled into a messed up war between Rippers and Fae and not really thinking that either care about  Humans safety.
The writing in this kind of put me off but I can't explain why, BUT I still got into the story and want to know what happens next.

(I received a digital copy of the book. Thanks to the author and instafreebie!!!)

The book started right from where the prequel ended and although the book was short it didn't compromise with the story at all. The whole thing was well described and narrated. I just think that this series should be clubbed into one or maybe two books rather than having seperate small books. Anyways I'm liking the series and until now it is all going pretty well.

Wow
Loved the book. Keep me on the edge of my seat. Lot of twist and turns. Can't wait to see what happens next. I don't do spoiler. But this book, will she turn, will they be ok. Will if you want to find out, grab a copy, and your favorite drink, turn the world off and enjoy.

I didn't hate it. I'm actually looking forward to reading more of the series. The characters are on their way to being fairly well developed, but the author didn't give herself enough pages to completley develop them. It feels like the story was cut off short.

I received a review copy of this book.

Ok

I gave this book two starts because the story line sounds interesting. however, it is very poorly written. The whole time I read the book, I had a feeling it was written by 14-15 year old.

I like the characters, the plot and the writing style. It loses a few points with me because it's too short and I feel like the story was rushed to pack everything in. I am intrigued by the characters enough that I will be reading the rest of the series to see what else unfolds.

Vampires from another dimension known as rippers.
Abilities that go beyond gifts that anyone knows about.
The books have to be read in order or they do not make sense.
There is action and complex fantasy.
This is my first time reading these authors. They work well together.

Short quick read that starts off right where the prequel left off.Like I stated in the prequel I really like the concept of the story line for this series, although I really wish it was a put together as a novel instead of smaller paged novellas.

Seems to be written for young teenagers. It has a very simple writing style and includes dialogue that uses full words (I am) when contractions (I'll) would be much more natural. I received a free copy of this book with no strings attached.

Couldn't get into this novel. Stilted prose and awkward dialogue. Painful to read. Glad I got it during a freebie promotion so I didn't have to pay for it.

This lost me with its first pop culture reference. I didn’t even make it to my usual minimum of 10% before stopping. It might be a good story, but I don’t want to know what someone looks like because an actor’s name gets tossed out there. I guess that falls into what some call ‘telling instead of showing’ and just isn’t for me.
