David doesn’t believe in angels. He doesn’t believe in the devil. What better place for the key to Lucifer’s prison to hide than in someone who doesn’t believe in any of that?

When Lucifer discovers where the key to his prison is located, he sets out to claim it. The only thing standing in his way: the Exiled. For ages, they’ve fought to keep Lucifer and those who stand beside him contained within the prison. It’s a war between angels and fallen angels. Between Exiled and Imprisoned. Between brothers and sisters. And the Exiled are losing.

By a stroke of luck (or is it Fate?), Celeste and David cross paths, and the ongoing struggle to contain Lucifer takes a new turn as David discovers the world he has always known is not what it seems, that angels don’t wear halos, and his lack of belief doesn’t matter. Lucifer wants the key to his prison – and he’ll stop at nothing to get it.

Celeste may be Exiled, but she’s still an angel… still sworn to protect humanity – and that includes David. Protecting him from her Imprisoned brothers and sisters isn’t her only problem, though. She’s attracted to David like a moth to a flame, but angel Law strictly forbids any kind of intimate relationships with humans. Not even a single kiss is allowed. She knows why it’s forbidden, but that’s just a rumor…

'The Exiled' is the first book in a trilogy of Paranormal Romance novels and is intended for mature audiences.

Indie Author, husband, father, avid reader and lover of books.

Strong, compelling women as many of the main characters is kind of my thing, because let's face it... the whole knight in shining armor cliché has been overdone long enough.

I felt it was long overdue that the girls got the spotlight, and the ones who have stepped forward thus far to have me tell their stories can certainly take care of themselves! They're not standing behind their male counterparts, they're standing beside them... and often a step ahead of them.

Never a dull moment in this book! There's always something happening.
Once you start reading, it's virtually impossible to put down.

The book is beautifully written. The storyline, the conflict between good and evil, is well thought out and has a sense of uncertainty and tension.

All the characters, both the good and the evil, are complex and alive. They each have their own individual personality.

An incredible story with a stunning ending. I can't wait to read book 2.

What a tale to make you search within.

I read this book thinking it would be different from my normal inspirational or romance book. How wrong I was this book deals with deep issues of humanity, religion, knowing your inner being and what you are purposed to do in this life. Wow I was intrigued by the story was unfolded, the action that was told so vividly...it was like reading in 3-D. To top it off there was a beautiful love story that included sacrifice and making the most of the time you ha e with your soul mate. Loved it.

The Exiled is an imaginative and intelligent tale of good and evil, angels and humans, heaven and hell. It tells the story of David, a human who finds himself caught up in a life-altering battle where the fate of not just Earth and humanity are at stake, but other planes of existence. David is a non-believer who is forced to accept the impossible when it stands in front of him. As he runs for his life, and learns the world is wider than he ever imagined, he must also come to grips with being the key to its continued existence.

The first in a trilogy, The Exiled has a lot going on. The author established a story which will clearly play out in more depth throughout the trilogy. He unveils David’s character nicely, making him at once believable and likeable. He’s an easy character to root for and identify with. I like watching David evolve as his life moves farther and farther away from normal with each page. The author’s explanation for heaven and hell, and those that reside there, creatively weaves Greek mythology into the mix. It was simplistic in nature (which is what makes it work so well), yet thoughtful and inspirational. To fully embrace his mythos would require the story to take on a broader view that included other systems of belief and other deities as well, but for the purpose of this story, it works well as is.

The plot played out at a nice pace. There was plenty of action, a little romance, and some slower, well-placed, character-defining moments. The tension built steadily toward an exciting end, and I enjoyed David’s dilemma and how it linked back to an earlier scene—nicely done. There was a twist at the end that I didn’t see coming. In fact, there were two. Both of which could have used a bit more explanation to add depth to the scenes. There were other areas as well, places where I really liked where the author was going and wanted to see him take it a step farther. But this could be more of a personal preference, as the plot was fully realized and not lacking by any means.

Overall, I really liked this book. The messages contained within the story will likely resonate with many. The author’s writing style makes it easy to slip into the world(s) he’s created. He touches on some emotional and thought provoking subjects, without being the least bit preachy. Instead, he spins a heartfelt, entertaining, and inspirational tale of hope and faith. He dares us to believe—in ourselves, in humanity, and in something larger. With all that’s going on in the world today, I think that’s something we all need.

Exiled Book 1 by Scott Borgman coverThis book has angels and demons with Lucifer as the antagonist directing things from his prison which God put him and his cohorts in when they were fighting with the other angels, who were also punished in a different way. Lucifer is angry and has been planning ways of escaping his prison for ages. He needs the key and God placed it in one human being. David is a human with no faith and he becomes the central focus of both angels and demons in the battle for control of the key. The ancient Greek gods are called upon for their help as well. I enjoyed this first book of the Exiled trilogy. It is full of action, surprises, suspense and a bit or romance. The plot is a good one and the characters are full of life. If you just read the first book it has a good conclusion and you won't be disappointed and left with a cliff hanger. But, there is room for more of the story and this is where I continued on to the next book in the series.
