Jase Jergensmeyer was the bully that tortured me growing up--the kind of boy who would pull my pigtails and call me names in elementary school. He was never supposed to be anything other than a menace. He wasn't meant to be anything other than the definition of what I didn't want.
Things don't always happen the way we plan, and sometimes we ask God why he puts things in our path, but the most important thing to remember is: Life is an adventure, and if we all knew how it would play out, we never really would be living, would we?
You know me as Shelby, the eight-year-old girl that went through hell with my sister, Ari, but I have my own story to tell.
I have a mad passion for books. It could be considered an addiction by some. After the responsibilities of work and being a mother are fulfilled each day, I escape in a book. I hope you all will enjoy what I can bring you. I have plenty more ideas to go from here.
Barbara Speak is quickly becoming one of my favorite go-to authors. I absolutely LOVED In Your Eyes! I seriously couldn’t put it down and wound up staying up until midnight reading it without even realizing it - it sucks you right in!
Shelby has been picked on her whole life by Jase Jergensmeyer and absolutely hates his guts. Now that she’s an adult she wants nothing to do with him – but when she arrives home from college the person in her sisters living room is none other than Jase. The arguing and insults between the two begin immediately upon the two lying eyes on one another until Jase finally gets up the guts to tell Shelby that the reason he picked on her was because he wanted her. Once Shelby realizes the truth behind Jase’s words their epic love story really takes off.
This book is super fast paced and has an original plotline that will have you on the edge of your seat. I found it super awesome that we get so much of Conner and Arianna in this story while still focusing on Shelby’s story… I’m so glad that this author gave Shelby her own story – I loved every single page and cannot wait until Barbara Speaks next release!

I gave this book 4.5 stars!
Finally we get Shelby story. We met her in Ari and Canyon story Let It Be Me, at the time she was just a 9 year little girl having to live with the big world. Now she is just graduated College and has came home before taking her dream job in California. Shelby and Jase have a love / hate relationship, but we see the Jase from now and get to see a glimpse into what their past was once. Jase is hot, ex miltary and a cowboy what not to love about that. Shelby and Jase have struggles and have to face the past, can these two do it to be together or will it be to much?
I love how Barbara draws you in and want let you go. I absolutely love her books, so grab one or all because you will not be disappointed.
Barbara Speak... You did it again!!! I can't describe how I feel after reading the final book of the Let it be series ... It was the perfect closure for me!
I loved the fact of having two sides of Shelby within the series... The little girl and the big woman... It was just amazing. Reading again about Canyon and Ari was so damn good that I have read the final chapter of Let it be us like 3 times... Their love hasn't changed!!!
The love story between Jase and Shelby was perfect. Jase is definitely my favorite character of "In your eyes." The ups and downs of the plot will catch you... You just can't stop reading... 5 stars do not cover it...
The follow up to Let it be Me and Let it be Us is finally here. I know alot of you felt the wait was endless but I wanted Shelby's story to be worthy of her character. This journey was heartfelt as I went through Shelby and Jase's struggles but it was well worth it. I hope all of you enjoy In Your Eyes as much as I do.
I was so shocked when I heard this book was being released. And by shocked I mean VERY HAPPILY shocked. I so loved the first two books in this series and to see Shelby get her own story just thrilled me.
Shelby has just graduated college and is going back home before moving out of state for a job. Problem is, she hasn't told Arianna and Canyon yet. I was dreading her having that conversation because they basically raised her given her and Arianna's story. While at home, she encounters Jase who has been the boy that she's always hated because of how he teased and tormented her while they were growing up and then there was the incident their Junior year of high school that just sealed the deal so to speak.
While Shelby was away at school, Jase entered the service and to say he came back from that experience a completely different man is putting it mildly. I have to say the way Ms. Speak addressed PTSD and how it effects everyone around a returning soldier was so well written. It wasn't glossed over and from what I know and have read was dealt with very realistically.
This story just flowed so effortlessly and I got so involved in the story and how these two were with each other made me cry and laugh and a few emotions in between. There's a pivotal scene in the book that really is the turning point in their story. It caused them both to rethink their past actions and what that meant for their future. As they grow closer and wonder if they can make a relationship work, they finally have that all important conversation to "hash out" what happened when they were younger and the why's of their actions. This part of the book was so rife with emotions for both of them but for me as a reader. It's always amazing that when you look back in your life and things you thought meant one thing actually meant something else. And this is what these two discovered.
Then everything, and I mean everything changed. I gasped, I cried and I was angry all at the same time for both Shelby and Jase. This is the point in the book, where we find out what type of man Jase is and if he's willing to do whatever is needed to keep "Red" in his life forever.
I'm stopping here because to go further would test my ability to keep from giving spoilers. What I will say is this book is such a wonderful story, the characters are so well written and the emotions experienced in the telling of their story are a wonderful experience.
Omg this book is everything!!! I got everything I needed to wrap up Ari and Canyons story plus every emotion and surprise for Shelby and Chase like we got for Ari and Canyon. My heart is so full that I keep crying even after finishing the book half hour ago. I need to get my emotions together ASAP before someone starts to think I’m a crazy person but seriously this book is everything. It’s so hard to find a write that keep all your emotions going through not one but three books plus keeps up giving you so many unexpected twists!! I want spoil anything but seriously you don’t know what’s coming until it happens!! Love this trilogy with all my heart!
In Your Eyes by Barbara Speak is a long waited release for me! I am so thrilled that she decided to carry on and tell us Shelby's story! You first meet Shelby in her sister, Arianna's story Let it be Me and LET it be Us, but you do not have to read them first. You will get a bit of background on other characters in this novel if you do though.
Anyway, Shelby is back and all grown up. When she comes home from college, she has more than a little surprise for her family. They may not like it very much though.
As much as Shelby loves and missed Montana, the degree she set out for won't do her much good there. What she didn't know would happen, is something she would have laughed in your face for thinking. Okay maybe not because she is the sweetest thing ever, but she would have told you, you're straight up crazy.
Jase Jergensmeyer is a changed man. Having been to war for his country and just growing up in general has changed him from the bully he was as a kid to a very handsome man with quite the different attitude. When an accident brings Jase to help Shelby, she is not expecting what she gets from him. Even more so she never thought she would get a reason to all the torment he put her through, but that's exactly what she gets.
Shelby and Jase have alot to work through if they ever hope to move past the hurt they have both caused, but when the mother of all curveballs is thrown their way, do the saddle up and ride or never get back on the horse?
Barbara Speak is one of my top three favorite authors. I have read each of her amazing novels and they have all left a very lasting impression on my life. In Your Eyes is absolutely no different. The queen of the curve ball keeps her title with this new release. When Barbara writes, you have no choice but to listen. The realness to her words is something that can shatter and repair.your soul within the same sentence. I can't wait for whatever she decides to write next!

RATING: 4.5 STARS
If you've read Let It Be Me and Let It Be Us by Barbara Speak, then you're aquatinted with baby sister Shelby McCormick, from the previous book's. But this is Shelby's book and she's now grown and living her own life.
Shelby has a pit stop at home on her way to California to live her dream job, but what's waiting for her at home could change everything in Shelby's life, and he's Jason Jergensmeyer the sworn enemy and bully that made Shelby's school life anything but fun... Well, they both tortured each other! Lol!
"The only girl I ever wanted enough, that was worth sitting back and waiting for, Red, was you. You just never saw me the same way."- Jase
Jase has a past that won't go away and haunts his dreams, but his Red (Shelby) becomes his rainbow after all the rain. These two will face some up hill battles, but will they fair with out any scars?
"He was worth the fight."- Shelby
I loved their story. Two sworn enemies, who finally see each other with eyes wide open. Jase is a male character that we love to love! And Shelby, I was quite surprised. Thankfully we didn't get the 10 or so year old we knew in the previous books, thank goodness, because I didn't like her then! Lol! She has everyone's best interest at heart. She's sweet, funny and strong! We need that in more female book characters. Now, I did see the one thing happening that happen... I could see it coming, but that's okay. It didn't ruin the book for me because of that. And I have to say, I want to knock Izzy out! Ugh! You'll want to too! We get everything rolled into one book... Love, sexiness, angst, sadness and surprises. 4.5 stars!
Oh P.S. If you've been like me and wanted to know about the aftermath of Brooke, WE GET IT! As well as seeing into Ari and Canyons life <3
I COULD NOT WAIT for Shelby's story! I loved her as the little girl in Let It Be Me and Let It Be Us, so when I heard that Barb was writing In Your Eyes, I was more then excited.
In Your Eyes is the story of good girl Shelby and Jase, the boy she loves to hate. There are many ups and downs to their story, causing me to laugh, cry, sigh, and hurt, but ultimately, to love the h*ll out of it. I adored that fact that Barb didn't completely change Shelby in growing up, just matured her into a older version of the sweet girl that I thoroughly enjoyed before.
Canyon and Ari also make up a good part of the book, but as secondary characters. Frankly, it would not have been the same without them. I love how their relationship has matured and changed for the better, and seeing them as parents was awesome!
I don't want to go into the story because I feel like I would spoil it. I will say that Barb's writing gets more crisp with each book she writes. I have read all of her books and without a doubt, this series is one of my forever favorites!

I was so glad there was another book in this series ! I thoroughly enjoyed it like the last two , I have not read all her books but these in this series, but with everyone I do read , the characters I always fall in love with and it just gets even better . I could see this series still going on with more books to follow , it's that good to me. I don't like to give spoilers , but seeing things from another characters point of view is great to me and seeing the characters from the last two books in this series was awesome. I give this a five heart review . So check this out , but read the first two , that will make it even better to follow the whole storyline . Thank You and I enjoyed this book for my honest review . Start with Let it Be Me then Let It Be Us. Then this one ❤❤❤❤❤
What a pleasant love story. Shelby has finally graduated college and is headed home to Montana as she awaits a job in San Diego. Unbeknownst to Shelby, Jase is now employed by her brother in law. How could he!? After a mishap with her horse, Jase saves the day and their story begins. Have they really let a misunderstanding come between them for so many years? Is it worth having a relationship knowing Shelby will be leaving for San Diego in the near future? Will Jase's secret ruin their HEA? I absolutely adored these characters. The story was believable and realistic. This is worth a one click!
I absolutely adored little Shelby in Let it be Me and Let it be Us. This series is so well written. The characters are so dynamic they suck you in and don't let go. Jase and Shelby have a colorful history to say the least. But hate is very close to love for these two. Jase is fighting an internal demon. Shelby finds herself falling for the man he's become since high school. I was immediately takes with Jase's strong character and Shelby is a firecracker. Beautifully written, poignant story about life and loss.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
Finishing school and going back to Montana Shelby is ready to start her life. Leaving behind the one person she hates, or does she? Jase is back and working for Shelby's brother in law can their past be overcome by who he is now. Trying to overcome their pasts they find that they can have a future filled with passion and happiness. Getting there is what they have to fight for. In true Barbara Speak fashion this book will give you that rush that you crave when you pick up a romance novel. This story fills every quota in your yummy and sexy rush type of book!
Absolutely outstanding!!! I loved Let it be me and Let it be Us and I loved the story of Shelby. I cried at the end of every book. Very emotional and romantic story. Their story shows fights we do for the real unconditional love. The characters felt real to me and well developed. I think Barbara's writing just gets better with each book she writes. I highly recommend all three books. I enjoyed so much reading them.
It was a very good story. It kept me guessing at some spots and new what was coming at others but came together and told a beautiful story of a young college girl and a young Cowboy/soldier. The trials that they go threw are real in the lives of so many and heartbreaking. But I am proud to have been able to get to read the work of this beautiful author and would highly recommend any of her books. You won't regret it..
If you loved Canyon & Ari you are going to love Jase and Shelby. They always say when someone picks with you it is because they really like you. Jase always picked on Shelby when they were growing up. Shelby is moving back after she graduates and Jase is the first person she runs into when she returns home. I don't want to give too much away but you will love this story. I am glad that we got another book out of these characters. Thank you Barbara Speak for another amazing book.
We first Shelby as a little girl in Ari and Canyon's story. Now she is all grown up and graduated college. Jase is her bully from school that she can't stand. She finds herself falling for him. One problem, he suffers from PTSD. Can Jase overcome this? Can Shelby get her HEA with the man who completes her? Shelby and Jase are hot together. Their story gave me all the feels. I laughed, smiled, cried. Just all around amazing. A MUST read!!
Wow! What en emotional roller coaster ride!! I'm so happy that Shelby, Arianna's sister from the Let It Be Me and Let It Be Us books. In this book she is all grown up and coming home after college. The chemistry between Shelby and Jase just about jump off the page. I could not get enough of them and everything they had to endure to be together. I don't do spoilers so I will leave it at that
i found this series on a whim & instantly fell in love with it! i'm so glad we got shelby's story and that she was all grown up. plus we get to see arianna & canyon with their new little family.
Shelby and Jase's story. Childhood foes to lovers romance. Shelby is now an adult and fresh out of college. She moves back home and falls for Jase who works for Canyon, her sister's husband. This book was just as good as the first two. An enjoyable romance.
This was a very sweet book with a happy ending. I wasn’t sure I was going to like this on as much as I did the first 2, but it turns out I enjoyed it just as much.
Absolutely Loved Canyon and Ari's story and it was great to catch up with them again as we join the all grown up Shelby. What a lovely lady she turned out to be.
I always thought Shelby and Canyon's relatinship was special, he really stepped up to be the father figure Shelby needed.
Her friend Izzy was a hoot! they both seemed to get on really well.
I just loved how the 'first' meeting of Shelby and Jase went! you just new something was going to blossom. Then we find out their history, the very thin line between love and hate, in their case was very apparant.
I absolutely loved their banter, but as they both began to open themselves up, you certainly began to get all the feels. of a love so great that othing was going to break it.
I was on the edge of my seat, when their story turned a little sinister, they both had a maturity about them, they didn't want to hurt each other and really worked things through, even though they were both hurting they did make the effort to communicate.
I loved how open they were about everything from way back in their pasts and learning truths to the current time, You really want it to work for them.
Just loved the twists and turns, never expect the unexpected, your story telling is a joy to read.
Jase really put the effort into keeping their relationship alive, they were both so determined, I was a little shocked at Shelby's hidden secret, but i did have an inclination.
Absolutely loved the epilogue, really tied up everything together. This is a great page turner, love, friendship, family and second chances.
Shelby returns home from college to visit her family. She plans on leaving to start a new job and a life in the big city. As excited as she is to spend time with them, she is shocked to learn that her childhood bully, Jase is working for them. He tormented her continually as they grew up, she can't believe she will have to deal with him during her visit. Shelby thinks he is still the mean S.O.B. he always was until he steps up and helps her when she is hurt during a riding accident. He has a lot of explaining to do about how he treated her and why he acted the way he did. Jase is out to prove he is not that same person he was growing up. Aside from their past, Jase has more recent demons to fight from his days in the military. Can they overcome the past to find love? Do they have a future together? I really enjoyed this read and was happy with the ending.
~~I received this in exchange for my honest opinion~~
Man... Barbara really knows how to get your heart pumping. This story is Shelby's. In this we meet Jase, the boy who tormented Shelby in school. But now, when Shelby returns from college, things have definitely changed. Jase is no longer the boy that teased he is now the man that has a very dark past.
Barbara wrote a beautiful book. A book about growing into what you are supposed to be. The characters try what they think they are going to do for the rest of their lives. When in reality, you can't plan for the things you want. You need to just let fate happen.
