There’s a secret back door to the Ivory Tower. Follow college professor Andrew Viam through that secret passageway as he goes on an Odyssey into the real world full of love and violence. Will he survive? This is an open question. He falls for a woman, but then she’s running away from a boyfriend who’s into Organized Crime and wants her back. From the tough city streets of Chicago to the wild woods of Wisconsin, Andrew will have to call on new resources if he wants to make it alive to next term. It’s a summer break he’d never experienced—and hopefully never will again.

For me the adventure that Andrew goes on isn’t as much a story as the metamorphosis he goes through. andrew becomes a different person. He goes from meek and pushover to strong and confident. He learns to trust in love in the end and have faith in love. He finds love and learns that sometimes doing what you need for yourself isn’t a bad things. He stands up to his wife and finds happiness.

Andrew goes away to get clarity after finding his wife in bed with another. As he is looking for clarity we learn more about his relationship with his wife which doesn’t sound to great. He was pretty much bullied into it. Along the way he meets a girl. A girl who changes his world. She asks him for help and he gives it. for some reason even after she uses him he chases after her. They both learn things from each other. She learns to trust and see someone for being more than a bore. She learns to open up and learns that not every act is malicious. Andrew learns to stand up for himself, protect others, what love really is and who he is.

this is a beautifully written exploration of finding out about yourself and opening up yourself to love. About a metamorphosis into a beautiful butterfly from a caterpillar that needs encouragement and support. Two characters who find each other and help each other find love with one another, trust and friendship. they help each other become stronger better versions of themselves.
