I enjoyed this book however it was different than a lot of the MC books that I have read and enjoyed. The life situations were defiantly messed up and they were presented well but we really did not learn much about the MC and the love connection happened way to fast. this was a 3.5 star read for me

Could have been better

The book was okay but could have been a lot better. There were a few typos and grammar errors but not enough to turn me off. Instant love doesn't bother me either. But illogical behavior and stupidity does bother me. Ryder spent five months binge drinking and being a manwhore and Rachel was okay with sexing this guy without once questioning his sexual health and how it could effect her. Really? Okay. Then random things were thrown in out of left field that made no logical sense because there wasn't enough development. And the situation with Rachel and the other guy was just weird, unnecessary and felt gratuitous.

I really wanted to like this book, the premise behind it held so much promise, but unfortunately it feel short. Ryder lost his wife and unborn son in a tragic accident and was mourning their loss for 5 months by getting drunk, being with random club whores and ignoring his 3 children. Rachel Owens is a teacher at two of his daughters school who happens to be suffering her own tragic loss, and steps up when she sees the girls left waiting at school. She and Ryder meet and after a heated discussion and Rachel telling him about her tragic loss, he decides he wants her.

This is where I have a problem, we see this man mourn his wife, the love of his life and BAM he is over her. There is no turmoil about moving on, when we see what this man goes through mourning his wife I got the feeling there would have been more conflict but sadly there was none. I also found some unanswered story lines in the story, that I feel should have been explained more in depth, the tragic death of his wife and their unborn son was not an accident and and issue with Rachel and they tragic loss of her two children.

Beautifully broken

This is a story about two broken people that are whole together. Through tragic circumstances and hitting rock bottom, they find each other and a beautiful life.

I would recommend reading this and will certainly buy others in this series. It is a HEA and there is no cheating, rape or any of those sorts of triggers. I will say the one thing that drove me a little batty wasn't the characters or the story - it was the author and maybe the editor. Lots of silly mistakes: waist was "waste". He was "her'. Etc. it didn't change the story or the meaning at all, but it was really distracting to be so into the flow and you get hit with ridiculous errors. Hopefully the next betas will help AJ with that. Don't let that keep you from reading. Ryder and Rachel are worth your time!!!!

Wish The Timing Was Better

I like the storyline but I have to agree with some of the other reviewers and say that I think the timing was off. Ryder loses his wife of 18 years along with an unborn son. He adored his wife and had a very good marriage. Even though he has three teenage daughters at home he throws himself into liquor and loose women. Granted he was going through major depression but it still didn't take him very long at all to get between the legs of several women. Then add to that, he meets Rachael and proclaims his love for her just a few MONTHS after his wife has died. It would have been easier for me to be Team Ryder if there were more of a mourning and soul searching period on his behalf or if his marriage would have been really unstable or shorter in length.
I did however adore Keeper and I'm looking forward to his book release soon!

2.5 STARS! This could be the start of a decent series as I found the characters in this story likable and could see little hints here and there that there is probably more to come from the Devils Ride MC. My only criticism with the story would be the continuity had a lot of problems. One minute Ryder and Rachael were going to her house to get it on, then the next they were at his house, Rachael's going through her children's baby books where the names were mixed up and there were many more inconsistencies that I found it hard to look past. I know this is this author's first book and I applaud her and think she could have something really special with the Devils Ride MC so I really hope she works on the editing. I look forward to the next book to see how this author grows.

What a heart felt read.

Ryder had me on a rollercoaster of emotions. From past tragedies in both Ryder and Rachael lives they have a lot to overcome. They are both haunted by their past. But this is a new beginning for both. I laughed and felt on the verge of tears with emotions.
The storyline was different and the flow excellent. Read in a couple of hours. Good balance of action and romance. Lots of sizzle.
First book out by this author and a great start to a great series. There was a few edit mistakes but nothing to take away from the great story. Loved it! Great job AJ Thompson.

This is the first book in the Devil Rides MC series and even though this is her first book she is very talented. This book had me experiencing a lot of different emotions, I was excited, I laughed, I was horny as hell and I cried my damn eyes out. It was a beautiful love story about two very different people who started out in other cities with other people who they thought they'd spend the rest of their lives with but horrible tragedy strikes both of them leaving them both alone. Sometimes you're lucky enough to have two great loves in your lifetime and that's what happens with Ryder and Rachael. This was a wonderful book and I highly recommend it and I cannot wait for Keeper's book !

Potential but missed the mark

The book needs some proofing and editing for typos but more importantly for content flow. The story had potential but there wasn't enough character and scene development. Toward the end people are talked about with hint of significance but you have no idea who they are.

The story was extremely good. Two people dealing with the worst possible tragedy and heartbreak and then come out fighting! There is a twist you do not see coming and all I could think was wow! I will definitely buy the next book.
