Many of us rely on our car’s or phone’s GPS but ignore the life-directional system we were each born with. This innate compass — what Zen Cryar DeBrücke calls our internal guidance system (IGS) — wants us to be happy, successful, and stress-free. How do we tune in to this tool? DeBrücke learned from trial and error and through the dramatic crucible of being the CEO of an internet firm during the dot-com bust. Her IGS helped her ride these daunting waves — and in the process she learned to leave painful memories behind, abandon destructive relationship patterns, and set boundaries. Learning to recognize and speak her truth led to the “beautiful sensation of being comfortable in [her] own skin.” Here DeBrücke shares her innovative program with readers so they too can have the life-changing experiences that result when we follow the guidance within.
What is the secret to life? It’s in this book. Actually, it’s in YOU, but if you’re looking for it, you’ll need this book to help you find it. It does indeed do that. Quite well I might add. Through stories and practices, Zen, the author, explains just exactly how you can turn on your inner GPS so you can navigate your life without all the stress and drama that comes with challenging experiences, even not so challenging experiences. Your Inner GPS is packed with solid information and useful practices that are easy to understand and quite simple to do. That’s the key. They are simple and they don’t take a lot of time. The more you use the practices the more you trust your Inner Guidance System (IGS). With that trust you will experience a transformation to a more fulfilling life. If you’ve tried everything but still feel as though there should be more, this will get you where you need to go. It really is the secret to life.
The content of this book warrants 3 stars. The writing is 5 stars; it is superbly readable. And the context is 10 stars.
Because this modest little tract has unwittingly captured the essence of trauma recovery in a simple noticing habit. The authors seem to understate it’s value significantly, but it is truly a Big Deal.
And because the writing is exquisitely clear and well organised you can find the answers to your question in seconds.
Five out of five book. A real surprise read for me!
It was fun to read, although some of the methods explained there are undoubtedly questionable. I may have experienced the “closing” of my IGS in situations that mental thought had nothing to do, because it was my survival instinct telling me something was off, and yet the book all it does is pulling the theory that we experience such closings only when the mind is going against our feelings.

After reading Sonia Choquette's Trust your vibes, this one felt like a major disappointment. The author offers an interesting way of looking at emotions, thoughts and intuition. She very adeptly differentiates between all three of them. However her approach is that of micromanaging what she calls the 'internal guidance system'. Intuition, to me is more of an organic and dynamic experience. I do not think we have to mine for it every situation like the author suggests. Some places, common sense is enough. We can only be receptive to intuition and hone our faculties to duly receive it. Intuition is not warranted all the time. This book talks in terms of mining intuition or the inner guidance system in way that seems clingy and desperate. Trying some of the things from this book felt starkly counterintuitive and left me stressed! This may work for some but not all. Most importantly, we should practice what works best for us, just like Sonia Choquette says. We should not abandon our own better judgement. This book's tone does not leave much room for personal responsiveness or feedback and rather insists on following the exercises until it gets better, as the readers are incapable of differentiating between resistance and inefficiency. This is why this book felt quite pushy, trying too hard and deterministic to me. If you are like me, who goes with the flow and are aware of it, skip this one. The pedantic tone and approach will exhaust you!
