Hätte es mir geholfen, wenn ich das Buch schon früher gekannt hätte? Aber ja! Nicht nur, um den allgegenwärtigen Fallgruben auszuweichen, sondern vor allem, um die vielfältigen Chancen zu nutzen, die sich jedem bieten, der sich in einer neuen Familie zurechtfinden muss. Und ich bin Jesper Juul unglaublich dankbar für das Wort ›Bonus-Vater‹ statt ›Stiefvater‹. Das ist ein wirklich guter Begriff, mit dem man sich gerne identifiziert.«

Jesper Juul (1948 - 2019) was a Danish family therapist and author and a renowned international authority on the family. In his book Your Competent Child (1995, in English 2001) he argued that today's families are at an exciting crossroads because the destructive values — obedience, physical and emotional violence, and conformity — that governed traditional hierarchical families are being transformed.

This was a gift from my life partner. I like the neologism "bonus parent", but I'd rather be "adult friend" than "bonus dad".

The book is organized by situations or issues that can occur in patchwork families.The book points out possibilities that I would not have thought of myself, and it points out preconceptions or misconceptions that perhaps many people -- including me -- have.

Still, something makes me not give the book full marks. It leaves me wanting to read more; it remains an introduction.

Prawdę powiedziawszy - rozczarowująca. Miałam nadzieję, że Juul odkryje przede mną jakieś tajemnice macoszyństwa, a tak naprawdę momentami byłam oburzona radami, w których przesuwa się ciężar odpowiedzialności za relację na dziecko.

Krótkie i pełne dziwnych porad, ale biorę po prawdę na skandynawski model wychowawczy (który notabene jest mi bliski, ale trudny do wdrożenia w lokalnych "bonusowych" rodzinach).

Jeśli jesteście tym "bonusowym" rodzicem, to waszego świata ta pozycja nie zmieni.
