Navy SEAL Clay Pickett needs a wife, fast, or he’ll lose the model sustainable community he and his friends came home to Chance Creek to build. He’s got just the woman for the job in mind: sexy, sensitive Nora Ridgeway. Too bad she’s not interested in rushing to the altar.
When Nora leaves her job as a school teacher to open a Jane Austen Bed and Breakfast with her friends—and finally get a chance to write her novel—she’s relieved to escape the escalating threats of violence from an unknown student stalker, and more than a little interested in the Navy SEAL who’s after her heart. But when trouble starts stalking her at Chance Creek, Nora begins to wonder if she’s left her past behind after all.
Can Clay and Nora find a way to be together when everything is trying to tear them apart?

Come on, how are there still people in my life that have yet to dive into this series?? They're 200% ridiculous, but I love them.
Quick recap: Boone, Clay, Jericho, and Walker were 4 Navy SEALS in Yemen. Witnessing the horrors of the destruction caused by civil war and climate change, they made a pact that together they would create a sustainable community when they returned to the USA. Enter four women living in the Jane Austen Regency period, a reality television series and this is not going to be your average Hallmark Hall of Fame movie.
Now I hear what you're saying, "Erin, have you lost your mind? " Quite simply, it happened years ago and it is basically how I have survived teaching teenagers for the last 10 years. Honestly, these books are like a can of Pringles- once you pop, you can't stop.
So, this book picks up right where book 1 left off. Riley and Boone have taken the walk down the aisle and it is now Clay and Nora's turn. But there is a ton of complications that include a stalker, the television series, and Clay's parents and their own relationship issues. Not to mention how tense the whole community living is for everyone in the story.
These books are formula, no way around that, but they are a great formula and they definitely aren't cookie cutter. The formula in this series is: Boy needs to find girl, fall in love, get married; There will be obstacles; Each has a "past" to overcome; There is a mystery/suspense element. I happen to like how this formula plays out in each book. They are entertaining and don't require a lot of brain space.
Navy SEAL Clay Pickett has drawn the short straw. He will be the next to marry in order to fulfill the agreement with a reality TV show so the men can get clear title to the ranch in Chance Creek and live out their dream if building and living in a sustainable community.
Nora Ridgeway is living her dream of a simpler Jane Austen time and trying her best to write her novel. But Nora has been running from a stalker in Boston, but can't seen to put him out of her mind. She has no intention of being the next bride. Her parents are the reason. She doesn't want to marry in haste only to repent in leisure.
Every time I pick up a Cora Seton novel, I know I can expect a great read. Her books are always filled with great characters that make the reader feel as if they know the characters. This latest entry in the series is no exception. This is the second novel in this series and I honestly think it is best to read them in order since you have to know why the men and women are under pressure to make their reality tv program a success. And of course that success requires marriage and babies and hopefully love. Nora is aware of the requirements but because of her past she refuses to rush into a marriage without getting to know her prospective husband. As a result of the requirements, Nora doubts whether Clay really loves her or is only pursuing her because he drew the short straw for the next wedding. Who would have thought a small town romance set in a reality tv program complete with Jane Austen costumes could work?
I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title within the series set box. (Audible)
The sustainability experiment continues with the focus on a couple that has their own problems outside the environment that they were a part of. Under the constant eye of a camera crew! With a father that had become a casualty of unemployment despair, and the constant niggle that her stalker still lingered, it's hard to be in a romantic mood to get to know each other to consider matrimony.
Clay believes in love at first sight; Nora doesn’t. What will he have to do to convince her? A sweet romance with a side dish of thriller. X-Rated scenes.
Second book in the series where a bunch of SEALs have to get married. Apparently Clay is already in love, but circumstances are making it hard for Nora to accept him, because when a guy has to get married and you are there and he claims to love you, you have to suspect, especially when you know he has to marry in a certain time and he's running out of time. The fact that she already knows fast marriage can lead to disaster and that she has a stalker only complicates things. Again, the insane demands of the person behind the project and the reality show only makes the romance more complicated, and the director of the reality show is so focused on ratings that she doesn't care about the people behind. As usual, lack of communication and secrets makes things even worse.
Another Chance Creek book that takes you on a journey….this one is about Clay and Nora and is the second book of this series and continues with the TV reality show that has to do with sustainability living, finding brides and having babies on a timetable.
Clay falls for Nora the first time he meets her but she wants no parts of him or the TV show because she is afraid that her stalker with find out where she is and come for her and she is not sure if Clay really loves her or just wants to get married in the timeline that the show has set.
Can Clay show Nora that what they have is true love after such a short time, and keep Nora safe from her stalker or will he have to take a another woman as his bride in order to keep from losing the ranch????
Cora Seton has another well written book that keeps you guessing in what direction the story will take you! ! ! Looking forward to book #3 in this series! !
Ex-Navy SEAL, Clay Pickett made a vow to work with his team to make Westfield in Chance Creek, Montana into a modern sustainable community. They are part of a reality TV show to show others how this type of community can be successful.
The demands of the reality show keep increasing to make meeting a deadline to keep the ranch and the community they are building more difficult. Clay wants to make Nora his wife, but he only has forty days to convience the her that he is the right guy for her. She thinks it tales longer to get to know a man before making a lifetime commitment. She has a stalker from her past to make Clay's efforts to romance Nora more difficult.
When this Navy SEAL makes a vow he follows through in A SEAL'S Vow.
Ahm well at first I thought I ended up in a set up for a reality soap - then I dismissed that thought and was struggeling to come to terms with what I was reading and then suddenly one line "plopped" up in my head
"The Truman Show" and after that I actually enjoyed it and I will read the next one too - but please do not ask me on the details - read for yourself
I like the series and I love the author but this didn't work for me.
I thought Nora and Clay were interesting characters. They are running from stalkers, crazy parents and are on a reality TV show while fulfilling their passion. They are both trying to find their dreams.
While I liked the characters I didn't feel a connection between them. I also had a hard time getting into the book. I wasn't immediately drawn into their story. The storyline was a little slow in the beginning and I felt that it rushed at the end.
I'm hopeful that Avery and Walker get their story next
We first met Clay in 'A SEAL's Oath' when Boone picks him up at the airport. Clay also meets Nora at that time and convinces her not to leave. This book opens a little before Riley and Boone's wedding.
Something woke Clay to alertness, yet when he looked for the source of the noise there was nothing. Clay begins his day with a jog and is surprised by Walker who insists he draws a straw. Clay is definitely not happy he draws the short one, he wanted lots of time for Nora to get to know him.
At almost the same time in the mansion Nora wakes with the sensation she's being watched, after investigating a bit she decides it was the house settling and begins to dress for the day. Needing some inspiration she plans to sit by the creek for a while, it's peaceful and quiet there. At least it was until Clay scares the living daylights out of her.
This is just the beginning of some awkwardness as Clay's father also shows up at Base Camp.
More little things happen to make Nora even more uneasy and her thoughts go to the stalker she thought she left in Baltimore. The people involved with the show don't know about it and she wasn't going to enlighten them either. When it's revealed Clay is to be the next to wed, Nora is certain she just can't marry him. There's not enough time to get to know him well enough for that.
Very unsure of the outcome of courting Nora, Clay approaches Boone and asks him for a month to convince Nora, but to find a backup bride just in case. Things escalate very quickly in this book with many disturbing things happening.
I laughed, cried, and held my breath more than once as this story unfolds. I loved every interaction Clay has with Nora. These two are so right for each other.
I am already reading the next in this series. I can't seem to stop.
While I love this series I'm old enough to know "climate change" is another name for pollution, and to be completely clear, as long as I have lived, we are one of the most climate/pollution contiuous countries there is... don't believe me? go on a trip to India or China or Africa, you'd be surprised/disgusted! No joke! The USA is one of the most climate change/pollution aware countries in this planet. We do our best but we can't help it if the rest of the world doesn't care, we can't blame ourselves for the pollution China, India, Africa or other countries do to our planet... let's be real. This series bring a spotlight to climate change but it nowhere mentions the ecological damage other countries have done to our planet. It always kinda pictures us as the bad guys. Why does it always have to be the USA? Has anyone else traveled to China? India? Dominican Republic? Africa?... You can't even drink the frickin water there!!! Let's be honest here, we all have a responsibility to our planet, said responsibility does NOT have geographical limits. We ARE ALL responsible for our planet no matter what continent we live in. I'd be quite happy if some people stopped blamming the USA for all world misery. And that folks is why as much as a love this series, it will never get a 5 star in my 4k plus book shelve, it gets a 4 because it sure is a good one.

On the one hand I love CS's H's they are gentle, loving and ultimately true Gentlemen. I love the interaction between h and H, I like that the h's have a lot of spit and vinegar and are no push overs. There are a lot of things I love about Cora Seton's work, but one big thing that bothers me. The lovers are forced into weddings! There is no real choice for either of them and for me marriage is the ultimate choice a person can make, it's a life time commitment to one person and I really don't like how all of the books I have read so far have had this Sword of Damocles hanging over the couples head if they don't marry and produce prodigy. How can it possibly be realistic? There will always be this small tiny seed of doubt in both their minds "did he/she marry me because they had to?". I know arranged marriages work out all the time, so why not these ones? Because the people in the arranged marriages have grown up in that society, have lived with it, have been indoctrinated into it from birth to accept it, which is not the case for any of these characters. I fully admit this is a personal peeve of mine, and I also fully admit I adore everything else about CS's writing so I will continue reading her work.
This book was better than the first book. I am still not feeling any connection between the two mc's.
Ignoring the whole "Regency/Sustainable community" part, the stalker issue was kind of interesting. The thing that got me was that Nora was SURROUNDED by Navy SEAL's and she kept info a secret! Really?!! And her friends were complicit.
The last few chapters were the best in the book. There were steamy scenes in the book, but since I didn't pick up any chemistry between Nora and Clay, they were just something to read. I listened to the audio book and thought the narrator did a good job.
Once again, read and judge for yourself. I discovered that I had picked up the entire series over time, so I will be reading and reviewing each one. It will be interesting to see how things evolve over the course of the series.
Wow! That’s one heck of a way to end this story. I will confess I found the first eleven chapters almost painstakingly slow in developing the characters and making the reader connect. BUT, come chapter 12…Holy crap does the sh*t hit the fan. The climax of the story is intense! I have to say I LOVE NORA!!! She is one strong, principled, stubborn, smart, bad**s woman! What she does to her attacker is has me speechless and oddly proud!! It makes me stop and wonder if I were in her shoes, would I be able to react as she does? This is definitely not one to miss…A MUST READ!!!
My favorite line in the book... "I think every life has more than one story to it, but it's funny how a theme runs through all of them" (Boone)
Boy is that statement true not only in this story, but in actual life!
A SEAL’s Vow: SEALS of Chance Creek book 2 is by Cora Seton. With Boone married, it is now Clay’s turn to find a wife. This book is fun to read ; but it also has a terrifying portion to it which makes the book. Clay Pickett sets out to get Nora Ridgeway to marry him. He finds out he only has 30 days to get her to agree and they will be constantly followed by cameramen. Nora has declined his proposal because she wanted to wait until she knew Clay better. Clay sets out to give convince Nora to marry him. Nora has come to Westfield from her teaching job because she was being stalked by student. She has received threats of mutilation and death. Can Clay keep her safe and still convince her to marry him. The action in this book just doesn’t stop.
I loved this book. It was very well written. I enjoyed every minute of reading this book. I love how Clay never stopped or have up pressing Nora. While he tried to take thing slow they all knew he was on a dead line about getting married. After some of Nora problems from back home followed her to base camp and no-one believe her. She did not know how to move forward. But the minute her stalked took her she knew she had to fight for herself and Clay. In the end she wanted him and that was what keep her here. Now it is just do Clay and Nora make it after every thing or has to much happen for them to be together.
Clay and Nora have a rocky road to marriage. Her parents married quickly, were miserable, and her Dad left, so she wants to take things slow. Under the rules of the sustainability project and reality skis, Clay has to marry within 40 days.
But, he wants Anita and no one else. In a series of misunderstandings, she feels he doesn’t want her, and she keeps finding things that make her question whether her stalker may have pursued her.
She doesn’t think people believe her, but finally, after a fire burns down one of the sustainable spots, she tells Clay and the police the whole story.
She’s then kidnapped, and Clay is out of his mind with worry. They eventually figure out where Nora’s being kept, arriving in the nick of time.
This series is really drawing me in. I am still not a huge fan of the Regency dressing part of the story but luckily it isn't too much of the story.
Nora is a teacher who is taking time away to write after dealing with a stalker at her old school. She feels like she is finally relaxing until she starts to feel like someone is messing with her. Clay knows he wanted Nora, from the second he laid eyes on her. It is just a matter of convincing her that he is the man for her. Nora is not a believer of love at first sight and wants to take her time, but Clay doesn't have time.
I devoured this book, and quickly moving on to the next book in the series.
I listened to the audio book by Tantor with Noah Michael Levine narrating. He has done an excellent job! It’s such a treat to hear men’s voices, as most women narrators make all the male characters sound like 12-year-olds or hicks. And Noah does a pretty good job voicing the women, too. This is the second book in a series and I found it way to slow-moving at for the first 1/3-1/2 of the book—just plain stupid sometimes as well as frustrating. I’m going to try and stick it out for Jericho’s and Walker’s installment, but that may be as far as I can stand it if their stories are as pedantic and far-fetched.
So, read bk1 a couple of years ago and liked, but thought they were a bit too expensive.
Just found bundle bk1&2 for free and snapped it up. It was good too... but the h was a bit annoying sometimes and stalker thing was a bit too wrapped up.
But bk3 sounds really good. I (so far from the sample read) like both the H&h and their histories and futures... but again, I’m too cheap to pay $7 for a book if this quality. Fingers crossed I can convince myself to take the jump. And forget there a a pile of $7 bk1 after that!
I loved this book and this series. It's about 10 Seals settling down and creating a sustainable community. This book is about Clay and Nora.
Nora came to Montana with three friends to try and live life like they did in the time of Jane Austin. They wear long dresses and travel by horse and buggy. Nora has a stalker that she thought she got rid of by moving but he's found her again.
Clay is a Navy Seal that has committed to living in this community and he must marry within forty days. He wants to marry Nora but she can't commit as long as she's putting anyone in danger.
Clay was a Navy Seal. Him and 3 other buddies, after getting out after 13 years, decided to build sustainable housing. A ranch where they went to as children was up for grabs. Bought by someone else, they would own the land if they could build 10 units, marry ten women, and have at least 3 children in a certain time frame. Nora was a teacher and Clay wanted her, but she had a stalker. Someone threatened her life. So much goes down. You have to read the story, you will like it.
Clay Pickett saw Nora Ridgeway and he knew she was the one. Nora doesn't believe in love at first sight. She wants time to get to know Clay. 40 days is not enough. So he shoots for friendship first. Nora has a stalker and when she tries to tell them, the men don't believe her. Her friends do. That is when she has to tell the men everything. That is when she figures it all out. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next book in the series.
This is the second novel in the series: SEALs of Chance Creek. This story is a standalone novel and can be read as such. This is a good fit with the overall story line but this novel packs a punch! Will Clay and Nora get to the altar in time? What about the crazy stalker that has been harassing Nora? What with all the strange things going on at Base Camp. Read this second novel and find out the things going on at BASE CAMP. Very enjoyable!
I enjoy a great Cora Seton story. I am enjoying this series so far. I don’t normally start a series until I have the entire set in hand, so knowing the last books aren’t published yet is a bummer for me. However I’m still reading :-) Yea the books are a bit “far fetched” - but most books are. They are part of what allows us to escape and enjoy!
Nora isn't happy about having to be on a reality TV show. She wanted her privacy and time to heal over a stalker situation and write her novel. Then she met Clay and knew she had not of sorting out to do. Clay though she was the most beautiful woman he had ever met. He also knew that she didn't like the setup.
Another interesting tale about the setting up of a sustainable community and the demands of a reality TV show following the inhabitants every move. This one brings in an element of danger mixed with family angst as Nora deals with a stalker from her previous life and Clay deals with his out of work Dad.
Clay needs to marry in a hurry but the Nora doesn't want to rush. They are on a reality TV show to promote sustainable energy. Between the pressure of the show and the stalker that is after Nora things aren't going as Clay would like.
Nora honestly was so annoying of a character that I wanted to DNF the book several times. I stuck with it though so that I knew what was still happening in the overall universe of the compound. I really wanted Clay to come to his senses with Nora because she was so frustrating.
