Let Justice Roll Down: The Old Testament, Ethics, and Christian Life

Rate this book

Connecting the Old Testament with the modern church, this book relates the testimonies and stories of Israel's faith in the Hebrew canon to the character and conduct of Christians and the Christian community today. By opening up the moral resources available in the Old Testament, this book will spur discussion of both the character of those moral resources and their pertinence to ethical issues in a complex and challenging time.

From the start I liked Bruce Birch’s Let Justice Role Down. He gives solid reasons for why this book is important for both theology and ethics. He honestly examines the Old Testament and practically applies the theoretical insights from narrative theology (seen in Frei, McClendon, and Hauerwas) to the Old Testament. I thought it was great. For me personally, it was an opportunity to hear afresh the worldview of the Bible (specifically the OT) and in a sense to rebuild broken aspects of my faith.
