Nobody But You is book three in the Cedar Ridge series by Jill Shalvis. This book was generously provided to me in exchange for an honest review by NetGalley, Grand Central Publishing, and by the author.
You know, every book in this series is amazing. After each of the first two books I thought maybe that one was my favorite. After just finishing this book, I feel the same way. Wow, just wow! I just knew I was going to fall in love with Jacob…and I most certainly did.
Jacob Kincaid has come home. He’s been in the military for ten years and has been forced to take some leave. He’s lost someone close to him and he needs some time to heal. Where better than to finally go home. Ten years ago all he wanted to do was get away from Cedar Ridge. Now all he wants to do is go home. He leases a cabin on Cedar Ridge lake. He’s going to face his family, he just needs to drum up the courage to do it. No one was more surprised than he was, though, to discover he wasn’t alone after all. A beautiful firey red head has her boat docked at his cabin.
Sophie Marren has no where else to go. She is twenty five years old and all she has is this boat. She lost everything to her loser of a husband in the divorce. She didn’t want anything. Her ex-husband found it necessary to sleep with just about anything with legs in Cedar Ridge. But when the judge said Sophie needed to get at least something in the settlement, what better thing to take then what meant more to her ex than anything else, his boat. Now she is stuck with no money, no where to dock, and very sea sick. The cabin was empty as far as she knew so she had been docking there. But she soon realized that it was no longer empty but now inhabited by one very sexy military man.
Neither Sophie nor Jacob want a relationship. Both feel like they are incapable of love. But they can’t fight the electric attraction between them. But it’s more than that. They seem to fill a void both of them were suffering. They brought warmth to each other, they made each other laugh, but at the same time, these two had bickering down to an art.

Jacob was patient, and he would give Sophie the time she needed to accept what was happening between them. Sophie fought it all the way. She couldn’t let herself fall for him.
“I can’t think in your presence.”
“Why not?”
“Because looking at you is like…it’s like walking down the chips and cookie aisle at the grocery store. I can’t resist you, and then I’ll forget why you’re bad for me.”
The reunion between Jacob and the rest of the Kincaid family I have so grown to love both made my eyes water and warmed my heart. There were lots of twirly tummy feelings involved. Without him, this family was broken. With him, they are once again a complete unit.

This book was just perfection. The love story between Jacob and Sophie was sexy, funny, and heart breaking. These two found each other when love was the last thing they wanted, but what they needed most of all. So, if you haven’t started this series yet, start at the beginning, and get to know the Kincaid family. I hope you’ll fall in love with them just as I have. I know I won’t forget any of them anytime soon.

When I picked up this book, I was in the mood for romance. A lighter romance. Nothing too over the top. Just something sweet, fun and sexy. This book was it. It was not overly sexy or overly sweet, but the perfect combination. This is the first Jill Shalvis book I’ve read, but next time I’m in the mood for a book like this, I can see her becoming the author I’d turn to.
Sophie Marren is recently divorced and holding on to one thing from her marriage. Not the one thing she loved, no. The one thing her cheating, lying ex loved. His boat. She meets Jacob Kincaid while mooring her newly acquired boat on his dock. Jacob hasn’t been to Cedar Grove in almost 10 years. He’s been in the service and hasn’t kept up with most of his family. He needs to rebuild bridges, and make things right with his family, but he’s having trouble focusing on that with this fiery redhead and her boat always around.
Jacob is a manly man with a tough exterior. His years in the service contributed to that. Sophie is one of those heroines I love. She is feisty, sassy and resilient. She has been beaten down by life and she’s turning it around on her own terms. I loved how Jacob always let her be her. Never tried to completely domineer her even though it’s in his nature to do so. They complimented each other perfectly and had great chemistry.
This book is about love, family, friendship and trust. It’s equal parts steamy, sweet and fun. I enjoyed the Kincaid siblings and I hope to read more books about them! Especially the sister, Kenna! If you’re looking for a contemporary romance this is one I’d recommend!

Sometimes a girl just needs a sweet, light and steamy romance with a quirky heroine and a broken but swoony heroine, and this book definitely delivered! It had the feels, the swoons, and the laughs. I enjoyed every single page of it!
Now I went into this a little backwards as I hadn't read the previous two books in the Cedar Ridge series. That being said, I had absolutely no problems jumping right into the story and the book is easily read as a standalone. Though I do plan to rectify my mistake by going back and reading the other two books because I fell hard for the Kincaid siblings.
After years of being away, Army Special Forces officer Jacob Kincaid is back in the town of Cedar Ridge with the intent of making things right with his siblings and his mother. Fresh off a mission gone wrong overseas, he's still dealing with the crippling grief and all the things that sent him packing overseas to escape in the first place. Jacob was such a great character. He's broken and slightly broody, but at the same time he's perfectly swoony. He was incredibly endearing and I loved how the author was able to get across his emotional wounds to the reader but yet he wasn't an a-hole. He was just a regular man with issues. Nothing overboard, nothing crazy, and yet it worked oh so well.
Sophie Marren quite easily made this book for me. Here's a woman that's been married for years to the a-hole of the century. She gave up everything for him and yet after their divorce all she has to show for it is a boat she never wanted in the first place and a whole lot of justified bitterness. But she was such a breath of fresh air at the same time. While her marriage was anything but happy and she's definitely bitter about how everything went down, she's also incredibly quirky. I adored her sense of humor and the way she bantered with Jacob. When these two meet, the sparks fly right away and I simply couldn't get enough of the two of them together.
They just made so much sense together and were this perfect combination of great banter and sizzling chemistry.
Nobody But You was everything I love about Contemporary Romance. It was written with feeling and packed in plenty of swoon and steam. The characters are incredibly endearing and I fell in love with all the secondary characters as well. This book is exactly why I'm such a big fan of Jill Shalvis. It's just one of those feel good romances you'll never want to put down. It will make you smile and it packs in just enough steam to make you pant. Simple romance perfection. I can't recommend it enough!

Famous last words…
Nobody But You gave me the warm and fuzzies...eventually…with a little heartburn, nausea and fire in the hole first. Do you know one thing that makes me smirk the most in romance novels? When both the hero and heroine start up a relationship stating that they aren’t looking for love, don’t want love or the dreaded - don’t fall for me…I’m bad news. Do you know why it makes me smirk? Because I know these suckers will be eating their words. You can’t help who you fall in love with. Well, you could…but why would you? Love is brilliant and wonderful, shiny and happy, snugly and sexy, warm and supportive. Look, I know it’s not ALWAYS that way, but even in the bad times love is, or it should be, something you can always count on. Don’t run from love, but be careful who you give it to.
I started Nobody But You knowing I’d like it. I mean I’m a dedicated Jill Shalvis fan and have been for yonky donks, so I know I’ll like whatever she puts out. I wasn’t convinced I’d love it though. The teaser I’d read months ago didn’t really pull me in. Plus I knew Jacob already. Well, I knew one side of the story. So, I thought I’d be getting a broken man, with his heart closed off and he’d be a completely selfish jerk. I also met Sophie in the teaser and I thought she was a little silly and a lot vulnerable and needy. Once I got into the story, there was a lot more to these characters. Both Jacob and Sophie had lived through a lot. Jacob is in the army and lost his best mate in a roadside bombing. He also cut himself off from his family including his twin brother. Sophie had lived with a depressed father who stopped being a dad to her. Looking for someone to love her she marries a ratbag, cheating butthead, Lucas. Jacob and Sophie are at the stage in their lives where they realise they need to reassess and change course to find happiness in their lives.
I got to know Jacob and Sophie and I was on board for these two to hurry up and get happy. Of course, these things take time. There were waves to ride, feeling to maneuver around and trust to be earned. We get to see their whole journey from when they first meet, to them setting up boundaries, to them realising the boundaries fencing isn’t always impenetrable.
Sophie is a little vulnerable in the beginning, but as time goes on you see her strength and courage come through. Words from her ex no longer had the same effect. Yes, Lucas still knew the right buttons to push to put her over the edge, but her recovery got quicker and quicker and she started to believe in herself instead of the insults. Her lack of direction was replaced with a confidence in seeing the happiness when she did her job well. Sophie was like a butterfly and her cocoon had been the boat she tied herself to and it kept her happiness from bursting free.
Jacob’s journey was a little different. His burdens are family orientated. He felt like he lost his family when he ran away from them to join the army. When his best mate died he realised that he needed to make amends with his family and returns home to Cedar Ridge. Instead of warning them, he sneaks in hoping to work up his courage before facing the firing squad. In some ways, it was easy for him to come home and fit in, but when it came to his twin, it would take more than a sorry to fix things.
I really enjoyed Nobody But You and visiting with the Kincaid’s again. Jacob, Hudson, Kenna, Aidan and Gray love each other. Sometimes they needed reminding, but deep down they know they always have a support team if they ever need it. Carrie, Jacob and Hudson’s mum, is an absolute sweetheart. Whenever she is involved, you know you’ll probably be laughing. Seeing the boys struggle with her memory problems and dementia is a little heartbreaking but also heartwarming. While she hasn’t always been the best mum in a traditional sense, she always loved her boys and they knew it.
I love the Cedar Ridge series. Jacob and Sophie’s story wasn’t smooth sailing but I knew from the beginning that I wanted things to work for them. I needed Sophie to bring Jacob out of his emotional shell. I also needed Jacob to show Sophie that he would always make it safe for Sophie to spread her wings. Luckily, Jill Shalvis has a magic wand and created me a story that had all my wishes granted. I can’t wait for more and hopefully, Jill Shalvis heard my other wish that Kenna and Mitch’s story is up next.

I think what I love the most in contemporary romances is the heady feeling that maybe all of it could be real… And if someone can make me swoon with a sexy and fun romance, it’s definitely Jill Shalvis.
There is a place I crave when I crack open a book by this author, there is a place I’m truly looking forward to visit each time a Jill Shalvis’ lands on my e-reader, and this place is my happy place.
I think the secret behind this is her ability to depict realistic characters, making it easy for her readers to relate to them and empathize with them.
Her heroes and heroines are not perfect, they’re flawed, they’re struggling with life like you and me, her heroines are endearingly goofy but sassy enough to give them that charming spunk we like in women, and her heroes are always great guys but oh so alphas… The perfect combo every time!
Nobody But You was THE book I was waiting for the most in Jill Shalvis’ Cedar Ridge series. The hero, Jacob Kincaid, is back to Cedar Ridge after a long absence and wary to meet his family, especially his twin brother, Hudson, whom he left in bad terms before joining the army Special Forces years ago.
To pair our brooding alpha male, enters the picture Sophie Marren, feisty and spunky newly divorced young woman, desperately trying to illegallypark, err, moor her sole and only possession, the “Little Lucas”, the boat she got from her cheating ex-husband, on Jacob Kincaid’s dock.
Jacob came home temporarily only with the intent to finally make things right with his family, he certainly did not come back to get attached to a cute, albeit a little lost feisty woman.
Luckily for us, Jill Shalvis likes to toy with her manly man heroes, and Jacob doesn’t get past this special treatment, not in the least!
I loved the heroine and literally clicked with her right away, the book starts right at a turn in her life, she’s freshly divorced but got out with nothing except her ex-husband boat, which she got only to get back at him. And too bad if she’s seasick and doesn’t know a damn thing about boating anyway!
I loved her sass and resilient character, loved her personality and sense of humor.
Jacob turned out to be not as rough as I imagined he would be, he was a regular good guy, and couldn’t help himself to look out for Sophie.
They obviously both had issues to deal with but couldn’t get past the undeniable chemistry and interest they had for each other. The banter between them was highly entertaining , and the hate to love you trope couldn’t have been better between them!
I also appreciated the family aspect of Nobody But You, seeing Hudson and Jacob finally getting around their long due reconciliation and witness them both interact with their mom, dealing with dementia.
With the sexy and easy going banter between the characters, the humorous situations, the family aspect and the steamy romance, I couldn’t help myself but to adore Nobody But You, which definitely was my favorite of the series!
Well done, Miss Shalvis, it was great to visit my happy place once again!

I also appreciated the family aspect of Nobody But You, seeing Hudson and Jacob finally getting around their long due reconciliation and witness them both interact with their mom, dealing with dementia.
With the sexy and easy going banter between the characters, the humorous situations, the family aspect and the steamy romance, I couldn’t help myself but to adore Nobody But You, which definitely was my favorite of the series!
Well done, Miss Shalvis, it was great to visit my happy place once again!

What can I say? Jill Shalvis has a way of taking a simple, straightforward story and turning into an engaging, funny, and sizzling hot book. Nobody But You delivered on its premise, and then some. This book is feel-good romance at its best.
Jacob Kincaid is back in Cedar Ridge and ready to finally face the family he abandoned when he signed for the military. But he wants to do it on his own terms.
Sophie meanwhile is down on her luck after divorcing her philandering husband. She got her revenge by taking his precious boat from him. Except that Sophie hated being on it. Worst of all, she had to sneak around Cedar Ridge lake just so she can find a place to moor for free. This brought her in contact with Jacob Kincaid who didn't really appreciate a stranger using his private dock as her personal mooring place.
Their first meeting was hilarious. Their second meeting was even more so except that you can actually feel the simmering attraction between them. And Jill Shalvis just has the skill to bring those out in her dialogue.
The banter in this book was amazing, and that's just not limited to the interaction between Jacob and Sophie but to other characters as well, especially Jacob's siblings.
Don't even get me started on the sexy times. Jill Shalvis' book has always had their own brand of sexy but this book was bursting it, thanks in part to Jacob Kincaid. Oh man, Jacob is probably my favorite Shalvis hero so far. He's stoic and reserved on the outside but a freak in the sheets. And I mean that in the best way possible. Good lawd. The things that man could do.
But this book has a lot more to offer than sexy times. Like most of Shalvis' contemporary romances in the past, Nobody But You is also about family and community. Sophie and Jacob both had to confront their issues concerning their families. Sophie in particular has struggled to find her footing career wise. She started off in a bad place and slowly but surely fought her way and gained respectability for herself.
I really enjoyed this book. I loved the characters and just everything about it really. There is a misconception that contemporary romance is all fluff and no substance and therefore easy to write. That's just false. There's nothing easy about writing a book that doesn't involve kidnapping, terminal diseases and crazy ploy twist but still manages to capture your attention.

A sassy, steamy and swoon worthy romance with heart. Reading a Jill Shalvis is like coming home to delicious chocolate with its perfect accompanying glass of wine while relaxing with a feel good book.

Hudson Kincaid is back home after leaving his family for almost a decade to join the Army. Having survived his team member and best friend’s death and facing his own mortality he decides to go back to Cedar Ridge to repair the rift between his twin brother Hudson, and the rest of the Kincaid clan. Knowing he left under bad terms, he’s not completely sure how to go about it so he starts by renting a cabin at the edge of the lake to be close to his family but still have peace, quiet and space. What he gets though, is shared dock with a “mysterious, temperamental”and beautiful redhead spitfire.
When Sophie Marren divorced her cheating husband she only took his beloved boat with her. She didn’t count on having to live penniless, with nausea on the boat she’s been secretly “parking” on Jacob’s dock. The sexy but surly man she can’t help but rile up. The attraction between them is off the charts, but given that their pasts have stunted their hearts, both think they can’t give more than fun times for now. Can they overcome their histories in order to appreciate that they could have a wonderful future together?
I just love getting to read books from authors who I know will bring a smile to my face and cause a warm fuzzy feeling all over. Jill Shalvis is one of them. Her characters feel real and easy to relate with. The heroes are tough on the outside alpha males with a wonderful melt-your-heart inside and her heroines are strong and feisty that make the heroes work for it. With these great elements, a good plot and Jill’s skill we get a read that has everything from fun and excitement, moving tenderness, and blazing hot yumminess.
“What are you,” she asked, “one-hundred-proof testosterone and pheromones? You’ve had your fun, now move.” So he moved. Inside her.
“Like that?” the bastard asked sinfully.
Jacob was so easy to fall for. Of course he’s tough, besides his profession demanding it, having to grow up without a dad and take care of their mother was no easy feat. But he also has his vulnerabilities and he’s also such a good man who’ll gladly give the shirt of his back to help a stranger, errrr… or a sexy, mouthy woman who constantly keeps him on his toes. He’s also realized he made a young, immature mistake, is flagellating himself for it while trying to fix it.
Even though she feels she completely lost herself during her failed marriage and was definitely in shambles after it, she’s a hoot. She’s snarky, strong and vivacious and I really liked her paired up with Jacob.
“Shut up,” she said. Jacob pulled back, a brow raise.
“Not you! … My inner voice … Ignore her. She’s a b!tch.”
Of course they both have insecurities they have to overcome but the back and forth between them was amusing and flirty, and the chemistry was addictively explosive. I loved how Jacob saw all her qualities and how they were both open and honest. I was happily surprised that it was Jacob who first opened up to Sophie about his feelings towards her.
“You keep forgetting to hurry,” she complained.
��I’m not really into hurrying.”
“What are you into?”
“Slow. Long. Hard. Hot. Dirty…”
Being this a series, I loved having the characters from past books back. Yes the entire Kincaid family was there to welcome Jacob home. I especially liked the reconciliation with Jacob. Although I did miss the underwear shenanigans.
Nobody But You is the third book in the Cedar Ridge series by Jill Shalvis. It is a standalone, full-length, contemporary romance full of fun banter, super sexy bits and sweet touching moments that will bring a smile to your face. Told from both points of view, with an awesome happy ending epilogue.

January 23, 2016I'd receieved this book thru a "book review club" where random romances are sent once a week to read and review. I don't choose them, they do. But I signed up so I tried this. Nobody But You is the type of romance just a bit too "tame" for me. Three years ago it'd be a perfect fit but my tastes have evolved. So nothing whatsoever against this book, but this is aimed more for the Nicholas Sparks or Nora Roberts type fans. I'm a bit of a darker, grittier, steamier book reader. Moving on...

First thing first, Kenna doesn't get her own story?!?
Overall, meh. Sexy, understanding, funny, and a little bit clueless hero with life falling apart, sexy, and a bit wack-a-doodle heroine. They meet-cute, lust, misunderstand, and fall in love. It's Shalvis good but oh boy is my closet overflowing with the done there t-shirts I have from this author. I hope the Heartbreaker series has a bit more individuality or spark...or Lucky Harbor Sheriff Sawyer, I can always take more Sawyer.

NOBODY BUT YOU is the third book in the Cedar Ridge series. I am kicking myself after finishing this wonderful story because there are so many more Jill Shalvis stories that I have yet to read. I need to fix that very very soon.
Once I started reading NOBODY BUT YOU I had a very hard time putting it down. Jacob Kincaid has come home. He’s been in the military for ten years and has been forced to take some leave. He’s lost someone close to him and he needs some time to heal. Jacob is back in Cedar Ridge and ready to finally face the family he abandoned when he signed for the military. But he wants to do it on his own terms. As expected our leading man is paired with a strong and sassy female, but both of them are not without their own issues, that they are working through.
Sophie is a broke woman in more ways than just financially. Freshly divorced from a cheating and lying husband who talked down to her for years, she is fighting for her footing in a new life. She is an amazing character, hard working and seems to have endless energy and a positive outlook. She is trying to get her life on the right track, but she really is a hot mess. As secrets are uncovered I was holding my breath, praying everything would work out in the end for Jacob and Sophie.
Sophie loves this little town and all of the people in it but she still considers herself broken which is why she can’t open up her heart to Jacob. Jacob has plenty of ghosts from his past that are chasing him and at first he tries to resist Sophie but he opened his heart up just a little bit and now she is in it no matter how hard they both try to fight the feelings building between them. NOBODY BUT YOU just might be my most favorite book by Jill Shalvis so far! Brilliant Jill Shalvis, just brilliant! She made me sad, then the next moment I was smiling and giggling out loud and swooning for Jacob! I’m so excited to continue with the Cedar Ridge series.

This is the third in a series and you really should read the others to get the whole family dynamic down. And then stop before coming to this one if you want to maintain your calm.
If we ever develop the technology to measure stupid, this book will come with a warning that only industrial-strength instruments should be used. Indeed, I could see commercials bragging that their instrument can handle evaluating this story without breaking ala "The Idiometer 9000 isn't just tough, it's Nobody-But-You tough!" Of course, I finished this book even while grousing the whole while about it (if only to myself), so I'm my own special kind of moron, as well.
And to be fair to the book, the stupid is broadcast right from the start. I mean, we learn very early on that the heroine has recently completed a divorce where the judge himself pulled her aside and said "hey, you are being stupid about this" (and she pretty much ignores him). Who divorces a rich man who became successful with her very involved help after she dropped out of school to provide that help and takes absolutely nothing away from it because "she just wanted it over with"?!? When he was boinking everything with legs and two X chromosomes and couldn't be bothered to even try to hide it? I'm supposed to take this woman seriously? Or have any sympathy with her when, after the judge pulled her aside, decided that the only thing she wanted was a boat that he loved and she hates? So she's vindictive in a completely useless way that hurts her every bit as much as it does him. Oh, and let's add that the lesson she pulls out of the experience is that she never wants to love anyone ever again. Because love was ever a part of that relationship? So she's a giant bag of negative motivation* on top of being vindictively stupid.
And Jacob has his own moron moments, though none so completely dumb that they stand as the monument that Sophie has built. Plus, bonus, all of his motivations are stored in the First National Bank of We're Not Positive as well. It was bad enough with Hudson being such a dork in the previous book, but Jacob takes his bro-pain and squares it (so he can be the cool twin?). I suppose Army School taught him how to repress and walk away because that's what tough guys do. Or something.
It's a good thing these crazy kids had sex to pull them together because heaven help them they have nothing else to share. Unless a commitment to non-commitment counts? Oh wait, they broke that one, too! Bah.
A note about Steamy: They had sex. Explicit sex. Great explicit sex because reasons. They're so unimaginably compatible, obviously. I forget how many or how long because mostly I tuned out until the story started back up again. Which turned out to be a bad coping mechanism, really...
* Negative Motivations: I kind of hate that the term "negative motivation" isn't widespread, yet. Since it isn't, I'm going to save off this little jag to append to my reviews that feature the term. Jennifer Crusie blogged about it a bit back and it changed how I understand story. The problem with the term is that if you've never heard it before, you'd assume it meant motivations that are harmful or immoral. Not so. What it refers to is motivations not to do something. The thing is that many of us are motivated to not do things for a lot of different, perfectly valid and reasonable, reasons. The problem is that in a story motivations to not do things are a huge drag on the plot—particularly considering the fact that most negative motivations are overcome by the character simply deciding they don't care any more (or, rather, that they do care and are now motivated to do the thing). So not only do you have a counter to action but you also have a situation where to overcome it, all a character has to do is change their mind. Which means eventually, the reader is rooting for the character to get over him/herself already and do the thing we want them to do. Conflict drives story. Conflict between a reader and a main character drives readers away from story.

This book was all kinds of wonderful! I can honestly say that I loved it and was rooting for Sophie and Jacob from the very start. This story really had a little bit of everything that I like to see in a romance novel and I found myself feeling perfectly content as I turned the pages. This is the third book in the Cedar Ridge series but each book in the series works perfectly well as a stand alone novel. This is only the second book by Jill Shalvis that I have read but I am quickly becoming a huge fan.
The characters in this book were wonderful. Sophie had a lot of spunk and I just loved her immediately. She is exactly what comes to mind when you think of a fiery redhead. Life has not been exactly kind to Sophie but she is making the most of what she has left. She is living on a boat that was her ex-husband's prize possession. He loved the boat while Sophie hates it. She is broke and working temp jobs to support herself.
Jacob is on leave from the military. He left Cedar Ridge and his family 9 years ago. He hasn't seen any of his siblings in that time including his identical twin, Hud. He has a lot of relationships to work to repair. When he comes across Sophie's boat moored at his cabin's dock, he is instantly drawn to her. I loved so much about Jacob. He was honest and willing to do what it takes to make things right again. He has been through a lot during his time in the service and has come out stronger in many ways.
The chemistry between Sophie and Jacob was amazing. They really are a wonderful couple. I liked the fact that the barriers to their relationship were really pretty minor. The main thing that this pair had to do was learn to trust each other and themselves. They really had to work together to make things work since they both had their own set of barriers. I loved how their emotions came across in the story in the description of small things like how they looked at each other.
I would highly recommend this book to fans of contemporary romance. This is a completely believable, entertaining, and sexy story filled with wonderful characters. I plan to read more from Jill Shalvis very soon starting with the second book in this series, My Kind of Wonderful, because I really want to read Hudson's story as soon as possible.

*sigh* There's nothing better than a Jill Shalvis hero. Well. Maybe her heroines. It's a damn close call. Nobody But You was a wonderful addition to the series. Sweet, funny, sexy, heartwarming. Shalvis weaves so many elements together for a knock out read. The only thing that could have made it better was a kitty or pup added to the mix.
The quick of it is that Jacob bailed on his family years ago after a fight with his twin brother. He joined the army and it's been nearly a decade with no contact. But a major loss in his life has him reconsidering what's important and he's come home to make amends...somehow. And on his first day back he runs into a fiery stranger who's illegally parking her boat on his dock and has a host of her own problems to deal with. Lots of sexy sparks fly and maybe, just maybe, they'll be able to help each other through all those hard parts they're facing.
I loved these two. Both Jacob and Sophie were lovely characters. Slightly damaged but fighting to get their lives back after major loss and divorce (respectively). They had that fun banter and vibe between them that's a little volatile but entertaining as hell. And the sexy bits. Yum! Yeah these two rocked some serious chemistry.
Now the drama that pulled things along. They both had a lot to overcome with the people in their lives. Her with an ex husband who was a total wanker--seriously total fucking wanker--and a family who was less than supportive--I do wish there'd been a little more resolution with her family and how they treated her but it was okay. And Jacob with trying to make things right with his siblings--including his twin brother--after bailing on them all so many years earlier. There's a lot of hurt for them to get past and it could be frustrating and saddening in turn but seeing them get through the issues was pretty uplifting too. It was really nice seeing both of them grow so much during the book.
All in all, sexy light hearted fun with layers that'll pull at your heart and have you cheering for these two and their happily ever after. Shalvis continues to rock the contemporary romance genre. If her name is on it...you need it.

Nobody But You takes place in Cedar Ridge Montana and introduces us to Army Special Forces officer Jacob Kincaid and local resident Sophie Marren.
Sophie has recently divorced her cheating, controlling husband and is living on his boat. She only has a few problems. 1. She hates boats and suffers from seasickness. 2. She is broke and working a string of temporary jobs from dog grooming to organizing events. 3. She has no place to dock her boat, so each night she tries to outrun the Lake Patrol by parking her boat at vacant lakeside homes. 4. She is never ever going to fall in love again.
Jacob Kincaid left Cedar Ridge as soon as he turned eighteen eager to put distance between himself and folks in town. This involved not seeing his twin brother. I thoroughly enjoyed watching their romance unfold and lost myself within the story.
While I missed the earlier romances between some of the Kincaid siblings, Shalvis did a wonder job bring me up to speed and I love the threads surrounding the siblings, Jacob’s mother, and even Sophie’s nasty ex. Annd of course you know I now want to read the first two books in the Cedar Ridge series!

Jill Shalvis is one of my go to authors for happy feel good reads. Cedar Ridge is a wonderful place to live, work and what a family ! There is not a single member of this family that I haven't adored. This is Jacob's story, the long lost twin finally returns home.
Jacob is back, and he's brought some baggage along with him. Baggage not so much from the war, but from his last dealings with his family. He was a coward, and he knows it's time to face up to it, but he is distracted by a red headed woman who keeps drawing his attention and stealing his dock. He must deal with his lust, that might be more, his family that he can't let in yet and his past.
The lady red is Sophie, and she is a broke woman in more ways than financial. Freshly divorced from a cheating husband who only degraded her for years, she is fighting for her footing in a new life. She is an amazing character, hard working and seeming to have endless energy and positive outlook.

This one was a lot of fun. I loved Sophie and Jacob. They have great chemistry and adorable banter and I thoroughly enjoyed that they were nearly inseparable.
There is a touch of angst, but it's not horrible. Sophie and Jacob both have some issues to work through and they just so supportive.
Of course there's a tiny conflict and then a lovely HEA. As always, Jill delivers a fun pick me up when I didn't know what I wanted to read.

Nobody But You may very well be my favorite book of the Cedar Ridge series by Jill Shalvis. In this 3rd book we finally get to meet the infamous Jacob Kincaid. I couldn't wait to read Jacob's story since there was so much pain, regret and guilt regarding his character in the previous books. I had such high hopes for this book and Ms. Shalvis did not let me down.
Jacob and his twin brother had an agreement from the time they first arrived at Cedar Ridge. Once they graduated they would leave together. The problem is when the time came Jacob's twin didn't want to leave. He had made a home with their half siblings and wanted to stay. After some angry words that couldn't be taken back Jacob left and joined the military never looking back. At least until now. 10 years has gone by and Jacob has seen some awful things while away. He doesn't know why exactly, but the small Colorado town that he couldn't wait to get away from is calling him home and he's helpless to fight the pull. Jacob broke my heart and made me want to just put my arms around him and take all of his pain away.
I was more than a little annoyed with Hudson, Jacob's twin brother, for punishing Jacob for so much of the book before fully forgiving him. I get that he was afraid to trust again, but yeesh they were 18 and they both had made mistakes. It's not like it was all Jacob's fault. In his own book there was so much about Hudson's guilt over the fight that drove Jacob away. Yet, as soon as Jacob showed up he forgot about his own guilt and set to punishing Jacob. And Jacob just took it like it was Hudson's due to use him as a verbal punching bag.
I freaking loved Sophie Marren. She was hurt by her ex and the world in general. After all, it seemed every time she turned around things went awry. But, she never let it get her down. No matter how many times she screwed up, no matter how seasick she got and no matter how much crap life threw at her she kept at it. How can you not admire this chick? She wasn't normally a spiteful person and it seemed like the one time she gave that a go it set her up for misery. So, what did she do? She learned a lesson from it and vowed to never let it happen again.
This couple was hilarious. Sophie was a hot mess. She was a walking disaster and Jacob found her terribly amusing. I love this trait in a man. He had his own problems to deal with, yet he jumped in with both feet when it came to Sophie. And when this couple came together it was sizzling. They seemed to really enjoy one another in and out of the bedroom.
You can definitely call me a fan of this series. I am crossing my fingers there are more to come.

5 - "I'm yours for the duration." Stars!
I am a huge Jill Shalvis fan, and seeing that the Cedar Ridge series, is how I discovered how much I like her writing and story-lines, I have a pretty big soft spot for it.
"I’d never bet against you."
I have been waiting for the elusive Jacob Kinkaid to have his story told, and the author once again didn’t disappoint. As expected our leading man is paired with a strong and sassy female, but both of them are not without their own issues, that they are working through.
"I’d be happy to put you over my knee… If you asked real nice."
Revealed and explored at a steady pace, as the story between them as a couple and the Kinkaid clan as a whole progresses. You just can’t help but immerse yourself in it, and enjoy each and every page.
"You always were a charmer."
Another winner, I hope that Kenna and Mitch are given their story next.

WOW - Shalvis has outdone herself with Nobody But You! Jacob and Sophie are such great characters, even if they were both pretty closed off to the world at the beginning of the story. Sweet, tender, sexy, humourous and sometimes a little sad, I couldn't stop reading, and I loved every moment.
I really didn't think any of the Kincaid siblings would appeal to me more than Hud did, but Jacob managed to steal the first place in my reading heart! Because he was a little bit broken from the war, but also because he was very sensitive and straight-forward, I fell for him even faster than Sophie did! Nobody But You is a beautiful love story, and I have to say the romance Gods must have been with Shalvis while she wrote this. The two main characters are flawed, but they are also strong and wonderful in many ways. I loved Sophie's sassiness, and the way that made Jacob laugh, especially because he could hardly remember what it was like to laugh anymore.
While Nobody But You is part of the Cedar Ridge series, it can be read as a stand-alone, because Sophie and Jacob manage to keep the story moving forward on their own, even if there is plenty of interactions with other characters as well. Sophie impressed me in many ways, but most of all because she was stubborn. About making it after her ugly divorce, about living on a boat even though it made her sea-sick. About finding her way when it came to her profession, and also because while she kept telling herself she wasn't made for love, she realized that having a fling with Jacob might very well involve her heart. Jacob touched me deeply as well, between being on leave because he lost the soldier who was closest to him to coming home and dealing with Hud's hostility, I felt so bad for him! And at the same time, it was very easy to see where Hud was coming from as well.
Written in third person point of view, past tense, but with dialogues that are both witty and hot, Nobody But You is the kind of contemporary romance I love to find myself reading. And one of the very few I am likely to re-read as well. If you haven't read Shalvis yet, this just might be the perfect book to start with, and if you have, you will fall into step with Sophie and Jacob as if you already know them, and they will take you on a tender and romantic ride.
"Fan-fricking-tastic. Only way today could get better is if I were scheduled for an appendectomy. Without drugs. In a third-world country."
Snark and a bad 'tude, like she wouldn't hesitate to kick someone's ass if needed to. Didn't get hotter than that.
Not that she'd run here from the lake. Nope, the only time Sophie did any running was if a bear was chasing her, and that hardly ever happened.
When he'd walked away all those years ago, he'd been a self-righteous, selfish prick. He didn't want to be that guy anymore. He had no idea what kind of a man he'd be instead, but it was past time to find out.

It seems like Shalvis has maybe saved the best for last. While I enjoyed the majority of this series, I always find that Shalvis keeps her best stories saved for the third book in every trilogy. NOBODY BUT YOU is no exception.
Jacob Kincaid is the twin brother to Hud who we’ve seen in the previous books. Before this we don’t really know much about Jacob apart from the fact that he left Cedar Ridge years ago. When he is on leave from the Army, he returns to his small town to try and mend the troubles between him and his brother. However, Jacob is finding it harder than he first let on.
Meanwhile, he encounters a fiery redhead who has just been separated from the cheating man in her life. Their meeting is very cute and classic Shalvis. Therefore, I was immediately sucked into this story. Jacob struck me as the perfect hero. He’s a little more on the quiet side with his own set of demons riding him. However, he’s very vocal when he needs to be. Especially when it comes to getting what he wants. I really, really loved his character.
Sophie Marren was also a delight. Although she has sworn off men, she has this endearing quality to her that made her easy to like. And she isn’t as self-destructive as I thought she would be when it comes to falling in love.
The only thing I wasn’t completely sold on is the family drama. This isn’t new for this particular series. Shalvis has been building up to this point over the other books in the series but seeing the way that the family interacted and knowing Jacob’s stance on everything from the beginning, I didn’t think the conflict had to be dragged out for so long. I much preferred seeing them all happy and together. Finally.
There is one that thing I do want to mention about this book. While there were times when I felt like Shalvis hit everything right on the head, there were several scenes in the book that came across as a bit clichéd or perhaps a little choppy. I felt that some of the ideas that the author had for some scenes weren’t carried out to the best of her ability. I know what Shalvis is capable of and I feel like she either didn’t believe in it or it didn’t translate as well on paper than it did in her head. So while not perfect, it’s pretty close! NOBODY BUT YOU is definitely my favorite of the series!

You gotta love a book with a damaged hero and a damaged heroine. Our hero left home to join the military. He planned on making it a career, then something happened to alter his plans. So he came home. Slowly he reveals his secrets to his family and realizes that the secrets don't make him weak.
Our heroine went through a nasty divorce. But she managed to walk away with his boat. It was his pride and joy, it was also the scene of many of the reasons she kicked his lying, cheating ass to the curb.
She doesn't want to fall in love again because of her ex, he doesn't want to because of his PTSD. Together they learn to heal each other and to laugh again.
Our heroine went through a nasty divorce. But she managed to walk away with his boat. It was his pride and joy, it was also the scene of many of the reasons she kicked his lying, cheating ass to the curb.

Everybody in Cedar Ridge was waiting for Jacob to come back. And he finally came back.
After loosing his friend Bertt in a roadside bombing and being injured, Army Special Forces officer Jacob had to come back to Cedar Ridge and fix things with his family especially his twin Hudson. When he rented a cabin beside the lake, the very last thing he had expected was a mysterious, temperamental, green-eyed cutie.
No scratch the cutie..
She was a sexy 'Red' bombshell ready to explode.
when Sophie Maren walked away from her husband (now ex-husband), she refused to take anything with her except for the love of his life "his boat". She wanted to hurt the asshole for cheating on her and for ruining her life. Problem was she didn't have a place where to park "the Lucas" I mean moor.

I was really really waiting for the release of this book and it was worth waiting for. The whole series is a success and I still don't know which story is my favorite. That of Aiden, Hudson or Jacob but the whole series is a piece of love.

This was a fantastic story! Loved it so much! I am ridiculously happy. :-)
Jacob and Sophie were awesome characters. I loved Sophie's attitude and feistiness. Fighting to stand on her own two feet and coming to terms with her past was a great thing. Jacob was amazing! Hard but so sweet and I loved the growth that he had throughout. By the end I was smiling and teary eyed.
Jacob and Sophie together are perfect! Seriously explosive chemistry and heat between these two. Love the bickering and animosity as they come together. They had some really great, fun moments that were so entertaining, I couldn't get enough. There was a great build when things started to get argumentative, it created some serious heat! Super hot!
I am seriously in love with The Kincaid family. That comradery they have as they rib and tease each other was so fun. Or when there is tension but you can still feel how much they care about one another. They are a strong family unit and I was thrilled to see everyone together and interacting. I especially loved the complicated relationship Jacob had with Hudson and how it played out . I loved Carrie as also, such a well meaning and wonderful sole.
There were a few little side stories happening that made me absolute giddy. The resort, Kenna, Lucas. Just these little things woven in the story that made it even better. I thought the ending and epilogue were perfect! I loved every single second.
Wonderful story, great writing, and details. It's one of those story's that just makes my heart happy and fills me up. A definite feel good story with the perfect mix of sexy blended in!

Jacob and Sophie were awesome characters. I loved Sophie's attitude and feistiness. Fighting to stand on her own two feet and coming to terms with her past was a great thing. Jacob was amazing! Hard but so sweet and I loved the growth that he had throughout. By the end I was smiling and teary eyed.
Jacob and Sophie together are perfect! Seriously explosive chemistry and heat between these two. Love the bickering and animosity as they come together. They had some really great, fun moments that were so entertaining, I couldn't get enough. There was a great build when things started to get argumentative, it created some serious heat! Super hot!
I am seriously in love with The Kincaid family. That comradery they have as they rib and tease each other was so fun. Or when there is tension but you can still feel how much they care about one another. They are a strong family unit and I was thrilled to see everyone together and interacting. I love Jill Shalvis... if you don't know this about me yet, where have you been? I honestly don't know what else to say about her books! They are always witty, fun, sweet, and sexy and I can always count on her to have me smiling like a fool by the time I turn the last page.
I'll read anything she writes... and so should you!

Nobody But You is the third book in Jill Shavlis' Cedar Ridge Series. In this book, we FINALLY get to meet Jacob Kincaid, the twin brother of Hudson Kincaid. Each book can be read as a standalone, BUT I would TOTALLY recommend this series AND Jill Shalvis in general. She is a MUST buy author for me. Seriously, I generally don't even need to read what a book is about, I just one-click it. So far, out of the Kincaid's, Aidan has been my favorite. You know, you always have your favorite out of a series, even if you LOVE the series. And out of the two previous books, Aidan has been my favorite.... BUT I think Mr. Jacob Kincaid took my #1 spot.
10 years ago, Jacob Kincaid wanted nothing more than to leave Cider Ridge, Colorado with his twin brother, Hudson, and never look back. And while Jacob followed through with their plans, Hudson did not and they haven't been able to bridge that gap in those 10 years. Jacob doesn't feel that he can really return home, but after losing a brother-in-arms, Jacob feels that it is time to try with this siblings. So he returns back to Cider Ridge leasing a cabin about 10 minutes away from his family's resort, but doesn't let his siblings know that he is home right away. He just wants time alone to figure out how to approach his family. But that solitude flies out the door when he discovers a gorgeous woman living on a boat at his dock.
Sophie Marren is broke, seasick, and pissed of at men in general. All three are the fault of her slimy ex-husband. He took her money and got her fired from her job, so she took the only thing that mattered to him during their marriage: his boat. With no where else to go and no money to go anywhere (even if she wanted to), she has been docking her boat at an empty cabin, or so she thought. But Sophie soon realizes that "her dock" isn't empty and soon comes face-to-face with sexy Jacob Kincaid.
The attraction between Sophie and Jacob can't be denied, but neither are really looking for any sort of relationship. But quickly, Jacob comes to realize that their is something special about Sophie, Cedar Ridge, and having a relationship with his family again. But he needs to have patience to so them that while he may have to leave again (military life), he has every intention of coming home again.
This book was perfection for me. The story between Jacob and Sophie was incredibly sweet, sexy, funny, and heartbreaking all in one. And like the previous two stories, the dynamics between the Kincaids makes me wish I wan't an only child. I am completely and totally in LOVE with the Kincaid family. So again, if you haven't read this series from the beginning, I would TOTALLY start with Second Chance Summer and really get to know this AMAZING family.

As soon as a Jill Shalvis book hits my kindle I have to read it and this book was no different. If you haven't started the Cedar Ridge series you are definitely missing out. It's filled with humor, emotions and some of the happily ever afters I have read.
In this book Jacob is home and is on leave but in order to make it feel like home again he has to set things right with his family. What he didn't plan on meeting was one woman who would change his whole world.
Sophie is down on her luck. She is divorced and picking up jobs here and there but that thing she needs in her life is a man. But the more time she spends with Jacob the more she knows that this time everything will be just right.
I really liked Sophie's character a lot. I thought even though she was going through tough times she had such an awesome personality and had a great sense of humor. Some of my favorite scenes with her is when she is sea sick. You feel for her but yet you can see the humor that she lives on this boat.
Jacob was a little sweeter then I expected him to be. I guess I was picturing him acting more like a jerk since he was back home but in a way I was glad that wasn't the case. I liked how he was always looking out for Sophie even though he knew she was trying to do things herself.
So what did confuse me in this book was the siblings. Ok so in this book Jacobs sister meets her man and they are engaged. Does this mean this book is the end of this series? Or does she meet someone else? Hopefully there will be more Cedar Ridge books in the future.
If you are looking for a sweet funny read i would definitely read this book. Shalvis just has me wanting to move here and Cedar Ridge hunk of my own!

Probably more like 3.5 stars. I really enjoyed this book, the characters, banter, and setting, but I just wanted more from it. I don't think it will stick in my memory.

Now more than ever buddy reads are everything to me, it’s been so great being able to read some books and chat with friends and I loved reading Nobody But You with my girls @reallyintothis and @laurayaminreads All three of us loved this one and agreed it was the perfect escape. It was also hilarious, heartfelt and steamy with lots of witty banter. The more books I read by JS the more I love her style, I can’t read to read more from her backlist!
