Fandoms: Star Wars, Harry Potter -------------------------------------------------- A Harry Potter cursed with immortality must not only survive the raping of Earth by monsters far more powerful than any humanity has encountered, but he must rise to save it, and in the process exact one wizard's revenge against the Galactic Empire.
Ooh boy, this was pretty fantastic. The first chapter was a bit rough but the author quickly fell into their style. Lots of neat powers, magic and tech interacting and finding ways to triumph over the other. Lots of “it’s so stupid it could work plans” and just as many “I have planned for 100 possible outcomes” plans, and both had awesome examples of amazing wins and epic losses. Magic and space, and great characters from both universes. Fanfic can be really fun.
Beyond making you care for even minor characters (who often get killed making their plight sadder) Darth Marrs is very good at creating heroes with lots of power and then challenges them with believable set-backs and enemies. Too often in the Super!Harry genre, Harry Potter just rolls over his enemies whereas Darth Marrs makes him work for his happily ever after.
Also I feel too often fantasy characters crossed-over into sci-fi universes often lose the flavor of being a fantasy character. (This happens quite often in Harry Potter/Stargate x-overs) However in this story, Harry is and reminds a mage and uses magic instead of just becoming another Jedi with extras.
