In the explosive seventh book of the Irregular Scout Team One series, fighting rages around Washington DC, and a small team of scouts battle rebels and undead in equal measure. A Regular Army Infantry Captain finds herself in a fight she isn't used to, joining the mixed civilian and military IST-1 as they race to secure a nuclear weapon that could stop the rebirth of civilization.
J.F. Holmes is a retired Army Senior Noncomissioned Officer, having served for 22 years in both the Regular Army and Army National Guard. During that time, he served as everything from an artillery section leader to a member of a Division level planning staff, with tours in Cuba and Iraq, as well as responding to the terrorists attacks in NYC on 9-11.
From 2010 to 2014 he wrote the immensely popular military cartoon strip, "Power Point Ranger", poking fun at military life in the tradition of Beetle Bailey and Willy & Joe.
His books range from Military Sci-Fi to Space Opera to Detective to Fantasy, with a lot in between, and in 2017 two are finalists for the prestigious Dragon Awards. As of August 2017, Mr. Holmes has eighteen books and two novellas published.

Another excellent excerpt in the story of Irregular Scout Team One. Only problem is, it's way too short, and ends on a cliff-hanger. The next book, Bad Company continues it on, I believe. I love John's characters, and after 7 volumes, they are pretty well established. The new characters are intro'd, and a little info on them all is gained, but I'm hoping for more on the next book. John has a habit of intro-ing new characters only to kill them off, just as you start to want to know more about them. Look forward to reading the next one.
A fast read, because I've read a good portion of it on Facebook. This series is great. My only concern is the high casualty rate among recurring secondary characters in this series. It kind of reminds me of Patrick O'Brian's later work in that respect. And I'm kind of upset that this ended in a cliffhanger. When's the next installment?
Another large chunk of the History of IST-1. A good mission, high Zombie count and a large fight against an off-Shoot of the Reconstituted US Government!. NOT to be missed.
5 star through and through. The entire Zombie Killers series is damnwellworth the read...the worst thing about the series is that it over.. more, much more please!!!!
