The Truth Revealed

The brave men, and now women, who choose to serve on today’s submarines have to have a certain type of bravery that many do not possess. There is always the danger that the wrong move, a wrong turn, or mechanical failure will spell certain death for them. At times of war, this danger is even more amplified. Those who signed up for duty in the early submarines were more at risk than today’s military forces. This was the case for the German U-Boat crews.

While there is little doubt that those who served the German forces were on the wrong side of the war, many of the men in the U-Boats showed a level of courage and cunning that few have shown then or ever again. The dangers of the sea were a real concern for these men. From faulty equipment to taking on enemy fire, there were several ways that these men could mean there’s watery death.
There were tales of bravery as well. Through this book you will learn about both tragedy and heroics that set these men both above and beyond the cut.

Here’s just a few things you’ll learn about:

• The start of the U-Boat program and why it almost didn’t happen
• The daring raid on the English fleet
• The truth of the U-66 – The inspiration of the movie “U-571”
• The Artic convoys that could make or break the war

WWII Submarine Stories will take put you in the sub with these brave men and show you how the U-Boats could have won or lost the war.

Great for those looking for a taste of U-boat history.

A very good summary of the battle of the Atlantic and some good stories about the boats and ships involved. I found quite a few grammatical errors in the book that should be fixed, as well as parts that seemed a bit rushed to me. All in all though, a decent little book.

WW History

A fascinating synopsis of mid 20th century naval warfare. The author is well-informed in German u-boat warfare. I recommend this book.

No afterthought .

Reading this brought to mind terror that the U boat caused until technology caught up to neutralize the threat .
