Ain’t Misbehavin’ In this second book of the Vancouver Blues Suspense series, Maggie Malone is out for dinner at an Italian Trattoria when a man sitting behind her is murdered. He turns out to be Kyler, her friend, Mei Chang’s lover, also known as the Naked Alderman for regularly participating in Vancouver’s annual Naked Bike Ride. Inspector Peterson with his gravelly voice grills Maggie to dig out every detail she can recall of the evening. Her controlling boyfriend, Logan is no help. He’s more worried about keeping the Black Cat pub afloat financially and is jealous of the other man Maggie has feelings for, Hunter. With his part Haida heritage and Irish blue eyes he draws her with his raw magnetism and killer smile but even he can’t protect her when more murders begin to happen. Their sensuous encounters turn up the heat but Maggie has to find the killer before he strikes again. With a fascinating cast of characters and the rich setting of Vancouver’s waterfront and Gastown district this story is simply a great read.
Another fine book by Jo-ann Carson. Maggie Malone is out to dinner at the Trattoria with her friend Joe when another patron is shot behind her. Her "favorite" police officer shows up. Maggie finds herself in the middle of another murder investigation. The really bad thing is the killer found out that he enjoyed the feeling of killing and feels it is necessary he does it again. Meanwhile Maggie is still torn between two men and the heat is turned up. This is a fast paced book with a lot happening and quite a few surprises along the way. Ms Carson writes fabulous books with strong female characters. I can't wait for the next book. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Maggy Malone attracts trouble as easily as men, but she handles it with her sultry blues singer attitude in this great addition to the Vancouver Blues Suspense series. The naked alderman and the haunted trattoria provided a spectacular start to this story. Enjoyed spending a lot more time with the seriously hot Hunter and learning about his Haida Gwaii heritage. I'm definitely on team Hunter! I'd love to see new addition Raven get his own story and also Inspector Peterson's "sidekick" Constable Conners. Looking forward to reading more in this sexy, suspenseful series!
This is Carson's best book yet. The characters are well rounded and the action never stops. It pulls you right in to life on the dock in Vancouver's Granville Island, and all the interesting characters who live there. Murder seems to follow blues singer Maggie Malone, but this woman is no push over and is determined to find the murderer. she has a great support network from the first book of the series, and I became more involved with the characters in this one. The suspense of the mystery and the tension between Maggy and Hunter keep the pages turning.
Having thoroughly enjoyed Black Cat Blues, I looked forward to learning more about the adventures of feisty blues singer Maggy Malone. I was captivated from the first chapter and stayed up two nights to finish reading this gripping page turner. I was particularly impressed by the fast pace, multiple POVs, smooth transitions, plot twists, and romantic entanglements. I hope Ms. Carson will deliver the next installment ASAP.
Ain't Bisbehavin' picks up slightly after Black Cat Blues left off. We continue to follow Maggie Malone and her friends. The character development is continued as we learn more about Maggie and the secondary characters. I love how fitting this series is with the West Coast of Canada. With the beautiful and accurate details Carson gives, I could picture the areas and even identify the unnamed locations, which added to the enjoyment of this book. The plot was well paced, the characters were interesting, the bad guy was truly bad, and this was another enjoyable read from Jo-Ann Carson.
Really enjoyed the first book, Black Cat Blues, but this one not so much. I couldn't finish it, which is rare for me, but I finally threw in the towel. More romance, than mystery; just didn't enjoy it.
Maggie Malone returns and so do the dead bodies and the cops. Corpses, blues, smokin' hot men, Vancouver setting, & a blind man who sees ghosts: that's the opener for Jo-Ann Carson's second volume in the Vancouver Blues series. It's a non-stop action-filled whodunit so suspenseful I almost swallowed my tongue. Plus, the whole hot guys thing mixed with danger makes this a recipe to satisfy mystery-suspense and romance fans alike. Win-win, I think, for both the author & the fans with Ain't Misbehavin'.
This is an original, steamy glimpse of Canadian life anchored around a romantic suspense which is the second installment of the Vancouver Blues Series.
