There are some f**ked up people in the world, unfortunately, the worst kind ended up destroying my life.

My wife had been murdered and I made it my mission to find out why and by whom.
But when the ‘why’ and the ‘whom’ invaded my small town, my house, my life, and turned it upside down, it brought more death and devastation.

When you don’t know your enemy it’s hard to know who to trust. I had the greatest religion on earth on one side and a mad man on the other. I was stuck in the middle.

My name is Gabriel. I had a perfect life, a perfect wife, and now I am fighting for justice.

A dark, epic thriller for readers over the age of 18.

Wow what a story. Let's start with the cover. I don't normally rave about covers but this cover is just so good and is very apt to the story.

This is a fast paced mystery thriller. Told from Gabriel's point of view we read of how his perfect life fell apart when his wife was murdered. Along with taking care of his daughter, Taylor, Gabriel needs answers and to find his wife's murderer. Although the police hit a brick wall in the investigation Gabriel won't give up. He starts to unravel secrets and puts more lives in danger.

I seriously could not guess what was going to happen next. The twists kept coming and blew any thoughts I had out the window. Just when I thought I knew what way the story was going to go the author threw another twist at me.

This is a brilliantly twisted story that had me gripped to my kindle. I opened this up to read a few pages and ended up reading it all in one evening.

3.5 - 4 Stars!

This one was most certainly twisted. I'm still not sure if I have everything straight. Cults, Murders, and Priests, oh, my!!!

Mystery/Suspense/Thriller
Some parts could be disturbing for sensitive readers. Dark, but not told in vivid detail.

This book will cause a neck injury with all the whiplash. I love a good mystery, and Gabriel delivered. I was on the edge of my seat. A mixture of corrupted religion, mind-bending mystery, and heart-breaking deceit.

Told from Gabriel's POV, a story of loss and the need to find answers. It took a good part of the book before I was completely hooked, but once it hit that stage, I couldn't put this book down. This isn't a love story, but there's a couple of hate-sex scenes to give you the perspective of a lost man clinging to his dead wife. It was actually quite heart-breaking to read. I was beginning to think the book was going to be predictable, but I had no idea how wrong I was. I guessed a couple of twists, but then I was left face to floor shocked. I wanted the gritty details of some of the things told, that would've made this more of a horror. But nonetheless, I was intrigued. The plot is complicated, the story is not tied like a pretty bow for you to unwrap, it's an AWESOME mystery to uncover. But I'm left still scratching head. The ending will blow your mind. If you like to solve puzzles, or uncover conspiracies, you will love this book.

My first book by this author, it certainly won't be my last.

HOLY HELL !! WTF DID I JUST READ?!?!?
Right, this is the first book i've read by this author and WOW !!
From the very first chapter it had me gripped, and considering i rarely read crime thrillers that says a LOT !
Gabriel is on a mission to find out who killed his wife, Sierra, in their home, leaving him to look after their daughter, Taylor.
The problem is, in trying to do the polices job and finding the killer, a huge can of worms gets opened, leaving him wondering who not only he can trust but also wondering who is telling the truth and is it the whole truth ?
There were so many twists and curveballs, every time i thought i'd figured out who the killer was, i'd be proven wrong. Which led me trying to second guess, and again my guesses were wrong.......
I did figure it out, and realised that one of my earlier assumptions had actually been right !! This really was one hell of a well written story, touching on subjects which aren't easy to read but are, unfortunately, a sad fact of life.
I'll finish my review here as i don't want to give ANYTHING away, but what i will say is this ~If you love a good thrilling crime read then this is a DEFINITE MUST READ !!

Favorite Quotes:

Fixing up things had been a hobby; the satisfaction I got when something was broken and then repaired was wonderful. It was just a shame I couldn't fix my daughter. It was a shame I couldn't fix myself.

It seemed I was losing the support of those that I trusted, of those closest to me. It was an isolating feeling and made me feel lonelier than I had before.

My Review:

I am stunned. Tracie Podger has mastered a new genre with an intriguing, perplexing, cryptic, confounding, heart squeezing, twisted, compelling, disturbing, and utterly fascinating story. Gabriel had me twisted and knotted like a pretzel, but I could not stop reading. Occasionally, I was even sickened by the tale, yet I could not put my kindle down. As always, Ms. Podger's writing was insightful, emotive, smartly done, and well-crafted. I was drawn in from page one with a storyline that remained taut and fraught with tension, frustration, and a heartbreaking back-story. Gabe's ranging emotions remained top-notes throughout and were nearly palpable in intensity. The premise could be boiled down to four Cs - Cults, Conspiracies, and Cover-ups - by and within - the Catholic hierarchy. Ever topical, and sadly - in today's world - also frighteningly realistic.

Wowee...... what a heart-wrenching, exciting, fast paced, twisty and gritty thriller.

From the very first page I was totally hooked on this really, really good mystery, suspense thriller and there are bucket loads of suspense.

Gabriel is determined to find the killer who brutally murdered his wife Sierra, while their young daughter Taylor was locked up in the bathroom. With the help of his best friend Thomas, who is the local sheriff, the two discover shocking secrets from the past and no-one is safe.

Some absolutely fantastic characters such as Gabriel, his dad and best friend Thomas, as well as some truly awful and evil ones.

With so many twists and lies along the way, my head was spinning. There are some sex scenes that are not for the prudish ..... so be warned!!!

This is my first book from Tracie Podger and would love to read more in this genre.

Gabriel I went into this book blind I never read the any teasers or blurb and it was truly a great book from the start I was Hooked I had to keep going to find out what was going on what had happened as we are kept guessing right from the start….

Gabriel is such a great man he had the perfect life the perfect wife and perfect family or so he thought his wife is Murdered and the police don’t seem to have any idea as to why and who has done it but Gabriel he swears she will find her Murderer himself… more he learns the more he starts to uncover secrets from the past and that people aren’t always who they seemed to be.

Gabriel He has a lot of support from his family and he has to stay strong for his little girl Taylor, but secrets that came out he realises he needs to protect his daughter. While struggling and confused by what he is learning the more and more we get into the story he doesn’t know who to trust anymore. This book will keep you guessing till the end! When the whole truth comes out I was really surprised as I really didn’t see that coming.

Ms. Pogder kept me on the edge of my seat throughout this book.

The Characters are so realistic and well developed… this book is really well written and has some touchy subjects that will not be for everyone…. This book is quite emotional at times hits on Abuse, lies, murder, religious cults.

All in all, I really enjoyed this book it kept me turning the pages and I really can’t wait to see what Tracie comes up with next.

"Some times the truth is Ugly"
Gabriel is........
A man with a purpose
A man with a vendetta
A man with a promise to fulfil

Gabriel, a man who's wife, Sierra, was murdered in her own home, seeks justice for her senseless murder. After the case has gone cold, together with his best friend Thomas, the local sheriff, they begin to unravel a chain of events that once set in motion cannot be stopped. With so many lies that are truths and truths that are lies Gabe has trouble putting all of the pieces together and doesn't know who he can trust.
His 5 yr old daughter, Taylor, who he simply adores was locked in the bathroom while the gruesome act was carried out. While struggling to comfort and help her get through the grieving process he himself has trouble adapting to life as a single parent and moving on without the love of his life.

During the course of the story we are introduced to many key characters and all of them play an inportant part to make this story such a success. The writing flows and the plot thickens the deeper you delve into the book. At one point I thought I had it all figured out and that the ending was a for gone conclusion but no twist after twist and I was blown away with the revealing of the murderer. As I said before the plot is complex and you need to be 100% engrossed in it or you will miss some of the vital details.

This is the first book that I have read by Tracie Podger and it will definitely not be my last.
I received an ARC for an honest review.

"Sometimes the truth is uglier than you imagine, you prepared for that? You prepared to learn things that will alter you? Destroy People"

I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review, and OMG what a MIND-F*** of a book this is! I do mean that in a good way-the writing is gripping,a bit darker than what I have previously read by this author-the subject matter sensitive in nature, with the Religious element/content,which some may find disturbing, steamy in parts,a Standalone(with potential for more-no pressure honest! ;)

From the start, the shock factor of that Gabriel's wife(Sierra) had been murdered, with their 5 year old daughter Taylor locked in a bathroom while it happened! The story evolves with the determination of Gabriel to find out the truth as to the How,Why and Who is responsible for Sierra's murder.

"I haven't a clue what's going on anymore,I don't know who's lying and who's telling the truth"(Gabriel)

There are many twists and turns throughout adding to the mystery, cover ups and lies told to hide the truth-which,when it finally comes out,is yet another shock and one I didn't see coming until a certain moment-then I was sitting with one hand over my mouth thinking 'OMG IT'S ... ......' (not saying-you will have to read it for yourself to find out!)

Holly Molly! How I loved this. I love it when an author messes with my mind.
I didn't see it comming, I had no idea who was behind it all.

And since I'm one of those readers to whom the writing style matters a lot, and this not being my first book by Tracie, I do love it - the style that is.

Dope!

This is the first book I have read by Tracie Podger and it certainly won't be the last. This suspense read blew me away. Gabriel is a hardworking man who had a perfect life, until someone murdered his wife. The local law enforcement is unable to solve the murder so he vows to find the killer on his own. The story that Ms. Podger weaves is carefully constructed and very intricate. The writing is tight and the plot well paced and surprising on many levels. Her characters are well developed and realistic. I totally love Gabriel. He is broken by the loss of his wife but tries to remain strong for his daughter, Taylor. He has the support of his parents and friends but they don't really see the devastation he feels from the loss of his wife. He is certain there is more to his wife's murder than a simple burglary gone bad. When he finds a phone number and calls it, he sets his entire world on a path that will lead to more heartache and devastation before the murder is resolved.
His best friend, Thomas, happens to be the local sheriff. He never closed the murder case but has been at a standstill until new evidence comes to light. Little do the men realize that they are about to take on way more than they ever imagined. They will unleash harsh truths that rock the very foundation of Gabriel's world. Gabe learns the truth of his wife's past and the horrible life she lived before he knew her. He learns that she suffered at the hand of people who should be trusted, a priest, among others. He learns that the woman he loved hid her painful past, and though she loved him, she never shared her prior life with him. In trying to gain the truth of her murder, he finds he is battling not only a crazy man who set up children for abuse but possibly the entire Catholic church. His older brother offers aid, but being a bishop, he may not be someone that can be trusted, since everyone involved with the church is suspect.
Gabriel is a strong character, but when his wife's sister comes into the picture, she tests that strength. He will go to any lengths to protect his daughter and his family. This book hits a lot of emotions and there is a lot going on: abuse, lies, family conflict, murder, intrigue and loss of faith. The resolution to the book is surprising and heartbreaking. To find his wife's killer, Gabe may lose more than he ever believed possible. If you like well written, intelligent suspense this book is for you. I can't wait to see what Ms. Podger comes up with next.

5 Stars!!!

I was given this book in turn for an honest review.

When Gabriel loses the love of his life, he will stop at nothing to find the person responsible, seeking the revenge and justice his wife and daughter deserve. Join Gabriel as he uncovers more than he anticipated.

This is one mission for revenge you don't want to miss. Tracie Podger has given us a suspense filled thriller that is full of twists and turns you won't see coming. This is the first book in the thriller/suspense genre that Tracie has written and personally I think she has written an epic story that fits the genre’s perfectly. I really hope she writes more in this genre.

Gabriel had my heart and soul from beginning to end, the man was passionate about his family and you could feel the pain, hurt, anger and love he had pouring off the pages. This man had one very broken heart, his life was perfect and it was all torn away from him in the blink of an eye. The strength he had for his daughter was breath taking; it would be hard for any person to continue their life when they had had so much ripped away from them with no reason as to why.

This story grips you from start to finish; it’s hard to put the book down. Tracie keeps you guessing throughout as to who is responsible and who Gabriel can trust, and when you think you might have an idea of who it is she throws in another plot twist that leaves you in shock and re-evaluating everyone this story involves.

Gabriel is definitely one of my top reads of 2016! I loved every page of this book and I happily would have begged for more. You will find that you invest not only your time but your heart and soul into Gabriel and his mission; a mission for revenge and justice.

If you love thriller/suspense stories and are looking for something new, refreshing and something out of the ordinary, then Gabriel by Tracie Podger is for you!

I have never read anything by Tracie Podger before, even though I own a few copies of her books but after reading Gabriel I have realised that I have been missing out on a seriously talented author, her writing style flows effortlessly and I was captivated with her story right from page one.

Gabriel is a broken man who can't move on with his life until he finds out who murdered his wife after the police dept have no leads on the case and they claim she must have been killed during a burglary gone wrong, Gabriel doesn't believe it and needs answers and so he rips the house apart looking for clues as to why nothing was taken if it was a burglary that had taken place not realising what horrors he will uncover the further he delves.

This story has a little bit of everything to keep you reading with elements of murder and mystery, and a lot of emotionally heartbreaking subjects are covered with sex, betrayal, and a child abuse scandal within the Catholic Church.

The characters are very well written and you can't help but love Gabriel, he is a honest hard working man who is trying hard to bring up his 5 year old daughter Taylor alone. She suffers from frequent nightmares because she was in the house on the day her mother was killed and as time goes by she reveals in conversation things to help Gabriel piece together clues he would never have found and secrets his wife kept hidden from him.

This book is very fast paced and you are taken on a journey with so many twists and turns you will be left emotionally worn out by the end of this book. I was so drawn into it that I couldn't stop reading chapter after chapter until id finished it.

This book deserves every one of its 5 stars for such a brilliant and yet controversial storyline. Much praise for Tracie Podger for tackling such hard hitting topics within this book.

This psychological thriller is one of those that grips you in the stomach while your heart goes out to the characters, in this case 5 year old Taylor, that was in the house when her mum was viciously murdered, and Sierra's husband Gabriel that simply can't move on until he finds his wife's killer. This is an awesome story that instantly bonds you to this father and daughter that have an incredible relationship. I had no idea where it was all going to end and I was just in ore of it all.

This is a superb novel where all you can do is trust no one until you feel sure about them, in the meantime you will feel like you have been knocked down and bulldozed into the ground. I loved Gabriel with his seedy past that made my heart pump blood around my body like there was no tomorrow yet was the gentlest caring of dad's that simply melted your heart. Oh yes better mention now that there are scenes of adult pleasure, a bit hot phew, so some people may be offended. Me I thought it was all necessary in the story.

The story is seeped in mystery and intriguing from the beginning to end with more than a couple of strange characters making an appearance. It is for you to judge what is truth and what is cover up and who can be trusted in this small town where everyone knows everybody but no one knows anything.

Highly recommended, brilliant cover too. Superb! I wish to thank my book club TBConFB for a copy of this novel which I have chosen to review.

::..Reviewed for Red's Midnight Readers..::

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this from the author, thank you so much for that and my actual rating is 5 stars but believe me, I would have given it more if I could!!!

What do you do when the love of your life is murdered and secrets start to reveal themselves and you begin to realize that your perfect may have been a lie? You fight for the truth and that is just what Gabriel does in this suspenseful tale of murder and mystery.

I am a huge fan of Tracie Podger and she did not disappoint with Gabriel. It was twisted, dark and absolutely brilliant!!!

It was so cleverly written, the twists and turns this story kept taking had me on the edge of my seat throughout. She has delivered a well written story filled with mystery, intrigue and a whole of suspense. I was riveted from the beginning and couldn't put it down.

So if you like a well written, engaging story that takes you on a dark roller coaster of a ride this is for you!!!

I was really excited to get my hands on this book. I have read and loved Tracie's Fallen Angel Series.
But this was a completely different genre, so I was intrigued to see what Tracie would do with a different genre.
Well she blew me away with this one. It was a dark, it was disturbing, it was fantastic.
I literally loved EVERY SINGLE SECOND of reading it.
There's murders, cults, priests and lots of mystery and suspense thrown in. You don't know who to believe but do you really want to find out the truth? Is it worth opening that can of worms?
Well, Gabriel went on a quest to find out the truth and he gets more then he bargained for.
The story is fantastic, it flows beautiful and once you start reading you have to carry on and find out what the truth is.
There are a lot of characters in the book, and they all play an important role in the story.
The ending was brilliant and something that I just didn't see coming at all, which just made me love this story even more.
Another fantastic book from Tracie.

Gabriel was an amazing but heart wrenching read, I was gripped from the start.

I felt sorry for Gabriel and his daughter, and could see why Gabriel pushed to find out who murdered his wife.

At first i thought Sister Anna was there trying to help bring people affected together but i could not bring myself to trust her completely -once at the end and found out who was behind sister Anna it all came together.

Thomas was a very good friend to the family.

I could not understand where Zachary was coming from and i felt at first he could have help a lot more than what he did but once all was reviled i found him to he a horrid person.

I could not believe one women could rip one family apart so much, and see her son and granddaughter live in such sadness, but protect her golden boy who was following in his fathers foot steps.

This is my first book by Tracie Podger and i will be looking to read more!

This book was so unexpected as it is different to the books I usually read and I took a bit to get involved.

Gabriel is dead set on finding out who was involved in the murder of his wife.

He has moved back to his Mum and Dad's place with his young daughter.

This is a dark and mysterious tale which will not be to everyone's taste but it is intriguing. It has a bit of everything. Sex, cover-ups and a lot of subterfuge.

It is a really good read but not for the faint-hearted. I would recommend it to lovers of mystery and murder with sex, sin and the love of a good tale.

Pretty sure this is the first book by Tracie Podger I have ever read and like usual, I had no clue what the book was about when I started reading it. Right from the very beginning, I knew I was about to read a book completely different from my norm that would end up totally rocking my world. ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR!!! Gabriel was incredibly well-written with constant twists and turns that kept me 100% invested in the storyline unable to set the book down.

Gabriel has two aims to protect his daughter and to discover who murdered his wife? He will not be intimidated silenced or stopped until he can figure out who took her away from him.

This book keeps you on your toes unable to know what curve is round the corner or secret or unveiling Gabriel will uncover next on his mission.

As long as he can keep those close to him safe and secure in the process he will do any means necessary.

But can Gabriel handle the truth and the reasons why his wife was murdered? Worse still is he and Taylor, his daughter in danger too?

A fantastic gripping read which brings the most unexpected storyline ever.

After falling head over heels with this cover, I couldn't wait to read Gabriel.

Gabriel was picking up the pieces of the murder of his wife and mother to their child...his grief quickly turns into anger when the circumstances surrounding the murder become a little clearer and a snowballs into something much bigger than anyone expected.

Excerpt:
It was up to me to rid the world of the scum that had made a child motherless, a husband a widower, a classroom of five year olds, teacherless.

With mentions of cults, rape, incest, abuse and murder the twists in this story were pretty much constant. I lagged a little in the middle when I felt things came to a little bit of a standstill but I think it was just the calm before the storm of final truths and answers.

A twisty story of the darker sides of religion, loss, redemption and closure. This book was Gabriel's POV and the author did an amazing job of covering all bases and never left me with questions hanging over me like some other suspense stories have.

Excerpt:
It seemed unbelievable that the greatest religion on earth could be involved in something so heinous, but it wasn't praise the realm of possibility.

Highly recommend this read to anyone, although as mentioned above there may be triggers for some readers. But this was definitely a gripping read right into the final pages.

Final excerpt:
Sometimes the truth is uglier than you imagine, you prepared for that? You prepared to learn things that will alter you? Destroy people.

I have to say I really struggled with this review because I couldn't quite come up with the right words and there is so much happening in the book and I can't talk about any of it...well not really. I really enjoyed this book for a number of reasons.

It was not a love story or romance book. There are times where I just need a break from the usual and it was refreshing to read a story that while there was some heat it wasn't about two people finding love.

It made me question and guess and continuously come up wrong. Gabriel is looking for answers about his wife's murder. He wants to punish who is responsible and the journey he embarks on is twisted and dark and not what I expected.

The writing was good. This is a complex story, with a lot of parts and turns and never did I feel lost or unsure about what the author was conveying. Sometimes a story can be so complicated and then it's just not worked out right. This one was, it flowed well, kept me intrigued and never let me figure it all out until it was time.

I did feel overwhelmed at times with all of the working parts and there were a few times that I didn't like the way things were left. I did get slow for me a few times and I wanted new information, not a repeat of what we already knew. I understand why it was that way, but I was ready to move forward. Overall it was really an interesting read and will for sure be a recommendation for those looking for something dark, twisted and a bit different.

~* ARC received in exchange for an honest review *~

I love psychological thrillers. I love how they keep you guessing. I know for one that they're not easy to write, or pull off. To me that have to be spot on to get above 3 stars for me. Tracie Podger really went all out with it, not only did she pull it off superbly but she also add so much emotion that you didn't know what you felt from one minute to the next. At the end, I'm pretty sure I swore a loud and questioned myself on how I didn't know. I guess three different people and I kept swip-swapping them around as well.

Gabriel is a man after blood, essentially, after losing his wife in a brutal murder. But not only does his quest come to fruition, but he open a nasty can of words that he didn't expect. He broke the law multiple times and never got caught, his quest for vengeance was too strong for him to think properly.

I'm so freakin' excited about people reading this book because it has to be up there with Mark Edwards on my favourite psychological thrillers. Well done, Tracie Podger, you most definitely pulled this off and I'm pretty sure this is this Author's best work to date.

I thoroughly enjoyed Gabriel as I was gripped from start to finish, I was so shocked at the twist at the end.

I totally fell in love with Taylor, and felt sorry for her and her daddy.
I could see where Gabriel was going from wanting to know who murdered his wife and why.

Thomas was a good friend to Gabriel and although he lost his job for helping Gabriel when he maybe shouldn't have with facts and keeping things hidden until they had work out things, i think the book would have not felt correct.

Through out Gabriel I was left guessing and when I though id figured out who was at the bottom and why I of course I was wrong.

I was utterly shocked when his mum was at the bottom of all this, and how she could rip one family apart just to protect one man doing wrong and who was following in his foot steps becoming an evil creature by trying to say he was infiltrating a cult to gain more information but had covered up a lot of thing that should have come out when the FBI investigated.

This has been one of the most heart wrenching books i have read lately.

This is my first book by Tracie Podger however this will defiantly not be the last.

I loved this book!! Loads of twists and turns. Some heart wrenching moments.
Sometimes the truth is ugly! Gabriel is a man with a purpose, a vendetta and a promise to fulfil! His wife, sierra was murdered in her family home, he wants to seek justice for whoever did it. The case goes cold and with help from his best friend Thomas, who is a local sheriff they unravel a chain of events that they can no longer stop now they have been set in motion. There are lies that are the truth, and so many truths that are a lie, that Gabriel has trouble putting all the pieces together and finds it hard to work out who to trust. He has a five year old daughter, her name is Taylor he thinks the world if her, absolutely adores her. Whilst her mum was being murdered in a gruesome way, she was locked in the bathroom scared! He has to adapt to life as a single parent, moving on without the love of his life and whilst doing this he has to help his daughter, to comfort her and help her grieve. There's a few characters to be introduced to and every one of them plays an important part. The deeper you delve into the book the plot thickens. Absolutely amazing book!
