I am SO impressed with this beautiful Bible! It is exactly what I was looking for! Throughout the pages are verses printed out in various beautiful ways. I have colored three of the verses so far. I used colored pencils and Crayola twistable colored pencils and have not had any bleed through. I have also underlined some verses with a Micron pen and not had any bleed through.

The Bible is thick and the print is a bit small, but fairly equivalent to the print that is in the Bible that I normally carry to church and use a lot. So, the print is just fine for my eyes. Along with the beautifully drawn verses and some pretty artwork, there are plenty of lined journaling areas for thoughts and notes, or to add hand-drawn illustrations.

The dust jacket is so pretty, however, I think that the Bible underneath the cover has such a neat color scheme, too (tan and turquoise). I just can’t say enough about this Bible and how much I love it! It is a wonderful addition to the Bible journaling family.

I received a complimentary copy of this Bible. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Doing the Bible Recap this year for the first time was such a great experience. This is the Bible I currently use on a daily basis. I got it in 2021. I love that I can spend time meditating in the Word and what I’ve learned as I work on one of the scripture pictures to color. I have MANY left to color and pages where I could create my own.

I have a soft cover version and it is a pretty light purple.

Highly recommend this type of bible if you love to color. I use the NIV because that is what my pastor uses.

If you are looking for a Journaling Bible that provides you with plenty of room for recording your thoughts and creating your personal artwork but also provides you with hundreds of illustrated verses to color, the NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible from Zondervan will meets all of those needs!

This Bible is similar to its predecessor in several ways with a few key differences. Both books feature Proverbs 3:5-6 beautifully inscribed beneath the jacket (this is one of the few books that I recommend ditching the jacket because the cover is so beautiful!) Both Bibles feature presentation pages but the NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible features a beautifully water-colored page that gives you a glimpse of what is possible once you lend your creativity to the pages of your Bible.

The NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible features the majority of the illustrations that were originally colored in from the NIV Beautiful Word Bible (they look totally different here!) but also includes new artwork for your enjoyment. Much of the artwork is simply Scripture with fancy lettering, which allows you to decorate the verses in any style that you like.

Although the print is on the small side for aging eyes, Zondervan will be coming out with a large print edition in the months to come.

What I like about this journaling and coloring Bible (compared to others) is that there is more room for note-taking and creativity than in many of the other similar Bibles I have seen.

I love Bibles, and today, I am excited to tell you about the NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible. I want to be clear that I am not reviewing the Bible; I am reviewing the features of this particular Bible.

The cover of the Bible is pink with flowers on it!!! It is a nice imitation leather that lies flat when you open it, and has a gold ribbon. The flower design carries into the Bible in the front and back matter. This Bible is lightweight and easy to use. The paper is thicker than your typical paper in a Bible, making it perfect for Bible journaling or doodling. The extra-wide margins give you plenty of space for your own notes and creativity. I love that there are many different fonts and designs used for the selected Bible verses.

"...we selected key verses online Bible readers search most often. We paired our review with an editorial eye to select verses that represented every book of the bible and to balance popular verses with less familiar ones. Some verses are great to memorize; others will introduce you to a section of God's Word that may be unfamiliar."

The font is 8-point, which is the only downside to me. It is still a good size, but I have gotten to where I prefer it to be a bit bigger. This would be a perfect Bible to carry to church with you. The margins are perfect for taking notes, and for those who need to be doing something with their hands, coloring the verses can help with focus.

Thank you to Zondervan and The Book Pod for the opportunity to read this Bible. I was not required to provide a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

A Bible That Invites You to Slow Down and Breathe! didn’t expect a Bible to meet me so perfectly in the season I’m in—but the NIV Beautiful Word Bible has done exactly that.
From the moment I opened it, I felt myself exhale. The artwork is stunning without being distracting, and the generous margins give me space to actually sit with Scripture—write prayers, jot down revelations, or just underline the verse I needed in that moment. It’s thoughtfully designed for women who want to be in the Word, not just read it quickly and move on.
What I love most is how it has helped me return to slow, intentional time with God. This Bible feels like an invitation—back to His voice, His truth, and His presence. If you’re stepping into a new season, craving clarity, or simply wanting a deeper connection with Scripture, this is a beautiful place to begin.
Highly recommend.

I am still reading this bible of course. You never stop reading the good book. This bible in particular is not a study bible but has annotations on the bottom and also has lines on the sides of the pages to take notes. The cool part is a lot of the pages you can color the verses. Sometimes they are in the note-taking part and sometimes they are whole pages. Beautiful book and it is always a pleasure to read any Bible even this really beautiful one.

The NIV, Beautiful Word Coloring Bible, Hardcover: Hundreds of Verses to Color by Zondervan Publishing is a gorgeous bible that promises hours and hours of enjoyment. The bible is filled with illustrations that you can color. And while you are coloring your stresses will wash away. You can focus on the verses while you are coloring and this will help you to relax. It is also a great journaling bible as there is room on each page to write notes in the margins. There are faded lines to guide you.

I think that you will find that coloring has a de-stressing effect because when we focus on coloring the illustration, we focus on the activity we are doing, coloring, and not on our worries and the stresses that can fill our days.

I checked to see if my favorite verse, Isaiah 58:11 had an illustration to color and it does on page 865. I will be coloring it first. I actually bought some special markers for coloring this bible. There are some full page illustrations to color as well as

The NIV, Beautiful Word Coloring Bible, Hardcover: Hundreds of Verses to Color is well constructed. It is the NIV version which is my favorite. The type is small but readable.

Anyone who loves to color and loves to journal will be absolutely thrilled with the NIV, Beautiful Word Coloring Bible, Hardcover: Hundreds of Verses to Color by Zondervan Publishing. I love it. Highly recommend.

Are we ever really “done” reading the Bible?
This is my second time through cover to cover in a year. The first time was with The Message translation. This time, I enjoyed the more traditional NIV and contemplating passages as I colored…I love that this Bible has lined places for notes, as well. I’ve definitely made it my own! Someday I will pass it on to my son with all my scribbles, coloring, my questions, and reflections. Hopefully, my heart for God will be what he sees on every page.

Note from The Catholic Man (Vincent Pham): This is a special review. I have invited my sister to collaborate with me in The Catholic Man Reviews as I have many great materials under review. Ivy is my sister, a year younger than me and she enjoys art (www.ivyphamsart.wordpress.com). Therefore this colouring bible seemed to be a good fit for her to review.

I am happy to be allowed the opportunity to write a review on this Bible. The NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible is one of the many options offered by Zondervan if you want a more creative take on a Bible. The dust jacket (the decorated paper wrapped around the cover; also known as book jacket, dust wrapper, or dust cover) is beautifully decorated (figure 1), and there is another page near the beginning that is the same, but without colour. In figure 2, you can see that I tried to recreate the outer cover on the page inside.

Once the dust jacket is removed, you can see the actual cover. Many books with a dust jacket have a cover that looks like the dust jacket, or a plain cover. The cover of this Bible was beautifully designed, and it was completely different from the dust jacket (figure 3). If you prefer removing the dust jacket, but don’t like the plain cover that is left behind, you would like this extra touch.

The end pages are well adhered to the cover. They are centred well and the design from the dust jacket was also incorporated here. The end page at the front will be useful if you intend on giving the Bible to someone (figure 4).

Flipping through the Bible, there aren’t many pages where there is nothing to colour, and most of those with no designs have faint lines. They allow you to decorate that page however you like. I enjoy drawing, so that is appreciated. Personally, I think being able to design a number of pages completely on my own is what really makes this Bible a journaling Bible rather than just a colouring Bible (figure 5).

There is a lot of diversity in terms of the different designs in the book, and you could tell it was group effort. All of the artists were also credited on the end page at the back which I love (figure 6). There are different levels of difficulty, so you can choose which one you want to colour depending on the amount of time and patience you have. Many of the designs are placed along the margin which are about an 1.5 inches wide, and there is an additional half inch border going all the way around the page. As you can imagine, that isn’t a very large space to work with, so many have relatively small or thin detailing. It would be in your best interest to keep a sharpener within arms reach while colouring in this Bible (I prefer a knife; your pencil crayons won’t shrink so quickly if you sharpen with a knife, and you can control the sharpness). There are no maps of the Holy Land or other places mentioned throughout the Bible, which are commonly found in Bibles, but there is a conversion table on the last page (figure 7). If you have ever wondered what a unit of measurement used in the Bible is equal to in modern units, this can be quite handy. A nice touch if you ask me.

The NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible is the NIV (New International Version) translation. Unfortunately that is the only translation it comes in. I would have prefered the Bible to have come in a Catholic translation (NRSV-CE, NABRE, RSV-CE, etc.), but unfortunately, that wasn’t an option. It is sold at zondervan.com for $39.99. The Beautiful Word Bible is printed in full colour and it is available in NIV, KJV (King James Version) and NKJV (New King James James Version). If you don’t like colouring, but also want illustrations in your Bible, you would like this. There are still lines for you to create your own art in the Beautiful Word Coloring Bible (figure 8). There is also a note takers version available in NIV, NASB (New American Standard Bible), NKJV, KJV, and AMB (Amplified Bible) and versions for girls. All versions are hardcovers or leather covers, both faux and genuine. If you want to check any of those out, they are on the Zondervan website. I don’t know how your copy will be packaged, but my review copy came in a box- and tonnes of paper. I didn’t take a picture but the box was quite a bit bigger than the actual Bible, and it was well wrapped in plenty of paper. It meant you got an unscathed Bible, plus a week’s worth of recycling. Be prepared, just in case.

Beware if anyone has gotten frustrated about the incredibly thin paper used in Bibles and dictionaries, because this Bible is no different. It’s understandable, considering the amount of space that was used for illustrations and lines rather than words. This also means that you can see many of the drawings on the other side. The thickness of the paper practically guarantees any marker would bleed through. If you press too hard, you will “dent” the paper underneath. Just a few things to keep in mind.

I am a very different person than my brother, so the way I do my reviews are also different. I don’t like listing off all the features of a product, nor do I rate things on a scale from 0 to 5. If you read through everything, looked at the pictures and liked the way it looks and sounds, then this is something you may consider purchasing for someone if not yourself. I hope you found this review helpful!
