I had a rather short area here telling a little about me but then I had more than a few people ask me to expand it so... here goes. LOL. I'm a full time home 'supervisor' which is a nice word for saying I'm a housewife. I'm married happily, I met my dream guy 20 years ago, and we have 4 children. I live in Southern California and I can't function without iced coffee. I believe in romance, I've always been a daydreamer, and I'm a HUGE fan of books, always have been.

No, I didn't know that I always wanted to write. I inhaled books as a child. I read entire series (Pippi Longstocking, Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys, Trixie Beldon, The Borrowers, etc) in a matter of days at a time. By the time I was nine years old I had an adult library card where I visited often. I moved on to John Saul, Stephen King, Richard Laymon, Agatha Christie, and then found romance. I was hooked. I wrote poetry in my teens and then moved on to short stories. My first book was started after I read a real bomb of a book that ticked me off with really horrible characters and a plot that was shabby at best and I thought... I could do better. LOL.

I wrote my first book which will probably never see the light of day in the early 90's. I wrote a series of a few books from it. I'm a series fan! I kept writing for fun, wrote MANY books and then in 2009 I decided to try to get published. I wrote my first Sci Fi romance and Ral's Woman came to be. I submitted it and with a little tweaking, Ellorascave sent me an acceptance letter. It was kind of a 'Cinderella' experience for me. It's been a terrific ride so far and I'm really happy that I finally had the time to commit to writing full time. It's a dream come true.

Anton the Alpha wolf who is also the next in line to take over the pack and Shannon the quarter puma will suffer a lot until they mate in this book.

Especially Shannon suffers from page 1 until the last page.
Firstly, Shannon will be almost raped and killed by a few stupid wolves from Anton's pack.
Then, almost all the wolves from Anton's pack will dislike her because she is a cat and she smells funny.
Then, Anton's mother will give her to the other pumas because she wants her son to be the next Alpha and he cannot have a cat as a mate.
Then, the pumas will try to rape her and breed her. I could certainly have lived without this detailed scene which creeped me out.

Anyway, Anton and Shannon were great together and I definitely enjoyed their scenes.

PURE PARANORMAL PORN

My not-so-guilty pleasure when I'm not looking to expand my mind or feel too emotional

Yes the title is horrible but this was Purrfect (sorry couldn't help myself) for what I needed. I was cheering at the sexual tension. When they finally did it, it was pretty fucking hot - or should I say pretty hot fucking. I was seriously loving everything… Until the plot got in the way.

Now I’m not a plot person. I’d prefer relatable characters and good writing any day. But if and when plot is utilised, I only ask for one thing – for it to be believable.

This plot was not only ridiculous, but the author also utilised one of my biggest pet peeves. When villains reveal themselves, why do they always feel obliged to give an excruciatingly detailed account of their evil scheme?

I hateee that!

Instead of showing us how smart the protagonist is by figuring shit out, the villains just seem pathetic, weak and incredibly stupid by revealing their intentions prematurely. The hero(ine) then of course uses this information to foil the master plan and save the day.

Seriously to all the baddies out there who feel compelled to give a blow-by-blow to their enemies before their objectives are completed:

description

LIKE FOR REALS YO…

It realistically would never happen, and to me it’s just lazy writing. What happened to show not tell? In poker, you'd never ever reveal your cards to other players before the game ends. And likewise in chess, you'd never tell your opponent your moves before you make them.

Seriously you would just be asking to get cleaned out / checkmated.

So why do I keep reading this exact same thing again and again? It's just kinda annoying.

But hey, at least the sex was hot.

His Purrfect Mate is the 2nd book in the Mating heat novel, and it's a companion to Mate Set. It was a sweet and very smoking hot book that i enjoyed. I think it was as good as book 1. But whereas the characters were unlikable in the previous one, they were much better in this one, but the action lacked whereas the other one was more entertaining.

At times i couldn't help myself but zoom out a little in the beginning.

Why i didn't really like Shannon?:
She was just like the previous female MC from Mate Set - rattling on about practically nothing, overreacting and just like an old annoying woman who lives next door to you. I feel sorry that Anton has to put up with her. I think he deserves better.

Why i liked Anton?
He was so much sweeter than Gary (Mate Set), and not such a selfish asshole who didn't understand anything. I really liked him, and at times loved him too. Definitely a swoon worthy dude though.

You're my purrfect mate." He mimicked the sound she'd made when he said it.
She laughed. "I guess i am. You're a grrrreat mate," she growled at him.

At one point in the book (further into it), there is such a freaking hot scene that turned me on like i swear no other book has. Like, "Holy Shit. Me Gusta. OMG!"

Overall His Purrfect Mate was a good, and final book to the Mating Heat novel. Really fun, sexy and just an enjoyable read about a hot alpha male.

I love you Shannon. I will protect you with my life, make my first priority to always see to your happiness, and i pledge my eternal love to you."

Not a complicated plot. Ii was expecting to get more of the characters of the previous book, ‘cause in Laurann Dohner’s books there’s always a little feedback about previous characters stories…but here was quite short. Anyway!

So MATING SEASONyou do understand what this is gonna be about given that they are in that kind of season, right?. Have clarified that…let me say that this was like an animalistic version of Romeo and Juliet.

Where Juliet wasn’t even aware she was a Capulet until some Montagues went after her and tried to erased her from the face of the earth only ‘cause she was a walking being …and just when her life is about to end, here comes our Romeo…that only happened to be closed by ‘cause he was supervising his submits…and then BAM!, sync gazes, hot responses, and an instantaneous attraction…that they both,(well, actually more him than her) tried to fight back.

Yeah, this is my version of an animalistic version of Romeo and Juliet without anyone of them getting dead, and they both being sworn enemies, given the fact that they’re a a Wolf and Puma(well, quarter puma, ‘cause she can’t shift). And all that set up in mating season, so they’re gonna spend a lot of time …struggling with some…needs.

Yeah! So… mating season people! Don’t judge me!! They’re the ones that go all like…

As I said before they all go Montague VS Capulet, so there’s gonna be some problems, but even though…

And as expected…there’s always gonna be a HEA at the end of Laurann Dohner’s books.

We start out with Shannon climbing a tree to save herself from getting raped and killed by a pack of werewolves.

Enter Anton, the next alpha in line to take over the pack. Once he gets Shannon out of the tree, he discovers that she is part puma shifter, an enemy of the werewolves, but he can't seem to control his strong desire for her. He decides that she will go through the mating heat with him which can last up to two weeks!

Mommy dearest does NOT approve of this match AT ALL. She thinks she knows what is best for her son.

Will Anton and Shannon be able to overcome their differences or will they succumb to outside forces?

This was a quick hot read that was enjoyable with lots of frenzied sex, a hot alpha male in love and a good storyline.

**This book contains a near rape scene so if that is something you don't like, please don't read.**

I really liked this shifter romantica, it was much better than the first book in the series. The hero was much nicer but still sexy and alpha. We also get his POV unlike the first book. I liked the main characters and it had a decent storyline.

The second book follows Grady’s brother Alton, and ¼ Puma shifter (who can’t shift) Shannon. This one starts out exactly the same with Anton swooping in and saving her from rape/murder. The “frowned upon” coupling is even worse because Alton is the future alpha, and Shannon is not only human, but Puma. (all cats are their enemy)

I didn’t like this one as much, because I feel like the cracks are starting to show… like Shannon’s Puma side really is described as a housecat which doesn’t fit. There were too many “kitty cat” characteristics, and I watch enough animal planet to know that a lone Puma, and a lone Wolf is nowhere near similar to a cat and a mouse. They are described as “rodent chasers” and in the real-world wolves and pumas eat the same food. I’m not typically uptight about this stuff, but it just went on and on.

Also, it’s really similar to Mate Set, so I felt like I knew was going to happen. (except this one doesn’t have the angst, because Anton is baggage free) Although, the big action/rescue part is the most intense/best one of the three. There’s one or 2 OW lurking around, but Anton’s not into them, but the h does have to deal with the fact that he’s been “trying out” 15-20ish she-wolves from other packs every mating season.

Bottom Lines Not bad, but not as good as the first book. **Total side note, I feel like L.D. places teasers a lot, but they never seem to go anywhere, which for a curious person…DRIVES ME CRAZY… because I’m interested then can’t find where it went anywhere. A perfect example is Haunting Blackie, where we're left with major Danica & Gene teasers, but she’s written 3 books since, and they’re still MIA. This is a preference thing, but I’d rather have fewer pages than dead-end subplots. Here, we get teasers about brother Von, and a human that broke his heart AND Debbie who loves Parker, but his family doesn’t approve so he’s left her. I can’t see where either storyline was ever pursued. 🤬

5 His Purrfect Mate Stars

Ah ha! The Wolf and the Pussy Cat… hehe. I loved the dynamic of this book!

It was so different from anything I can remember reading. Shannon isn’t really a “true” cat shifter because she can’t actually shift. But that doesn’t make her any less a target for her “enemy.”

She is left treed and fighting for her life, only to be rescued by the unlikely hero.

I loved that Anton is not at all prejudiced to something or someone different than himself. And his protective instincts are a flaring.

Knowing who you are is a big part of the story, and also finding out who you are. I liked that both these characters get to know themselves as well as each other and there connection is forged because of this.

Again different from what Laurann has written in the past but so very entertaining. I again loved the narration it was purrrrfect for this book. I can’t wait to read the next.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

This one was 100 times better than the first. The hero and heroine were actually quite likeable. Anton was so possessive and sweet with Shannon. I loved it. Shannon was adorable whenever she was frightened and practically climbed Anton.

This was a sweet love story. If she continues this series I hope they are as enjoyable as this one and not like the first book.

This was a pretty hot shifter book. I always love it when shifters of different species get together...it just an extra layer of danger and intrigue.

Shannon is only a quarter puma but that's enough to trigger the wolves hatred. Thankfully, Anton is there to intervene and offer protection.

Phew!! This is steeeeeeeeeeeamy. Hot hot hot! Pure porn, with M-F sex between a puma who can't shift and a werewolf in human form...mostly. Minimal profanity. Minimal plot. Some violence. Some sexual violence -- see spoiler below. A handful of typos.

The characters were not irritating, as sometimes happens with erotica. I liked them. Anton the werewolf becomes instantly and completely committed to "his purrfect mate" Shannon.

(Dohner must think her readers are idiots -- she actually explained the title in the epilogue).

Shannon is endearing as she instinctively scrambles in fear to the top of whatever surface is near -- a tree, a bookshelf, an Anton ;-).

Warning: There is an I didn't care for that scene, or the follow up in the van. It just seemed very degrading, and such an obvious ploy for more sex. I was turned off by this entire sequence of events and by how the "good guys" discussed Shannon's state of arousal in the van, as if she weren't even there.

Too much sex for me. Probably only 2 stars, but I'm trying to rate it based on erotica standards.

A smutty shifter romance with a wolf shifter MMC who has strong “mine!! under my protection!!” vibes and a 1/4 puma shifter FMC who is in danger because she’s an enemy specie but also can’t shift.

The FMC had a really rough ride in this book (and I’m not just talking about the sex). The warning about the near rape scene should be taken seriously - that went beyond what I can normally handle. I have mixed feelings about how quickly the story went from that

I probably would have liked this more if I’d read the book instead of listening to the audiobook, the narrator didn’t really do it for me.

This sequel is sooo much better than book one! I enjoyed Anton's story!

Shannon's part Puma, but her trait is not as sharp as it should be so she still mostly human. Anton couldn't resist her yet at the same time, Shannon's considered his enemy. What will happen next?

Phew, this series definitely full of sex scenes. Haha. I enjoyed the plot though, Anton's much more gentle than Grady and I'm grateful for it. Plus the storyline is not as complicated as Mate Set.

Overall I liked it. Definitely going to read the next installment of this series.

Now THIS one, I liked. Mate Set was a little so-so for me, but this one? MUCH better. Written a little more in the style of the New Species books. Shannon is the ultimate damsel in distress and Anton just grabs on to her and will NOT LET GO, no matter what. The plot was better, the action was better, and the emotions, sexy dialogue and hot sex was non-stop. The loyalty of the pack to Anton and Shannon was, well, frankly, pretty stunning considering apparently that werewolves hate pumas enough to kill them on sight!

There is a warning about a rape scene in the description of this book.

I am starting to like this series and I am really hoping that the author writes more. I might like the first one better if I reread it again.

I liked this one. The shifter world seems pretty clear. The hero was nicely alpha but wasn't an ass and he was never nasty to the heroine. I was pretty amused at the way the heroine climbed anything in reach when she was scared. The characterization of both of them was well done. I liked how even the "good" shifters were not all good. The writing was nicely done and the plot made sense. The sex was plenty hot and there was plenty of it. I'll definitely read more in this series.

Thanks melissaB for loaning it to me.

Not even in the same league as the first in this series, which was 5 stars for me (and reread multiple times). I'm not a fan of such skittish, weak heroines and the plot is non existent. I hoped it would get better, but DNF at 50%. I tried.

Great follow-up to the first in the Mating Heat series. I got a little irritated with the see the cat, kill her mentality of all of the wolves with the exception of a couple. I'm a firm believer in the treat someone how you want to be treated camp, and a lot of the wolves were just plain buttheads. I look forward to the next in the series. She definitely left it open for AT LEAST two more books with the mention of Von's human leaving him and Brand's half-breed spotted leopard leaving him. It will be interesting to see how and if she brings them back or introduces the males to someone new and how they will act. This series will definitely stay on my must buy list. I know this probably isn't a very helpful review for those looking to read the book, but frankly I don't want to ruin anything. If you like werewolves, then you'll definitely like this. There is, however, a very violent, almost rape seen so if that isn't something you want to read, I'd avoid it. The full blooded werewolf hero Anton is strong, sexy, but a softy in the middle and just makes you want to hold him close like a big teddy bear. Shannon, the heroine, is a quarter-breed puma who tends to climb anything when she is terror stricken, including the very sexy hero. It's explained that she cannot fight her instincts and the author explains it in a way that you don't think that the heroine is a complete pussy... *snicker* pun not intended. She is a very sweet, lovely woman and anyone would be glad to have her as a friend. That's the vibe I get from her and I mostly felt sorry for her when stuff happened that were out of her control. Anyways, this is definitely worth the time to read. I loved it, would definitely recommend it.

Woowza, that is another uber hot read for this series!!! Good lord, warn a gal so she can have a cold shower ready!!!

I love yummy Alpha to be Anton. He is just scrumptious!!! A gal could do worse than a smexy bossy wolf. Sure he was a player before, but once his wolf decides on a mate, all bets are off!!!

Shannon is sweet, if a bit naive. I understand she is fighting deep cat instincts, that is the only reason I did not find her a wimp. She has plenty of sass and gumption, if she could just get those instincts under control.

The narrative is mixed between the two leads, really smooth transitions from one POV to another. You really get into their heads with this style. I think it helps make them more engaging and real to the reader.

I generally enjoyed the story, but feel the animosity is exaggerated. I know they are shifters, but they are human too. How is it okay to just attack some one because they are in your territory. Seriously, you own the supermarket? Every time an new wolf met poor Shannon they threatened to kill her, not a single word spoke, just straight up death threat with no introductions. Sure, that is how things run in a civilized world.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by G. C. VonCloudts, who does a great job. Plenty of variation in the voices and consistency. She has a great tone that lends itself to the material. I loved her energy throughout the read, especially in the naughty bits! I am super thankful she did not take Shannon to a whiny place, she kept her anxious without being nasal. The.The girl gives good voice!

Overall I enjoyed the read, once I set aside the annoyance at the insta-death threats. It was another great book in this little series. I hope we get a HEA for each brother and that yummy cousin!

Is this it? This is all we get out of this series? Ms. Dohner needs to move her ass and write books for the other 3 brothers AND one for their cousin Brand. This is a SEX FEST story. Hawt mating sex doggy style with a kitty cat is pretty AWESOME.

There is some mild shifter sex, but nothing full on. This was marked as a BDSM book and I'm not sure it qualifies. There was a scene were the heroine, Shannon is tied down with a collar on her neck as several men try to gang bang her in a non con kind of way. I don't know if I consider that BDSM. They were only trying to breed her in puma form while she's a human. (Those last two sentences just sounded wrong.)

The story moved very fast and I enjoy Ms. Dohner's writing voice. This is like mind candy - totally fun and enjoyable. Shannon was a funny, cute red head who is a total pussy. I mean, she was so weak it wasn't funny. She's a scared-y cat. Anton is the super hot Alpha male werewolf. He's the oldest full blooded son of the current Alpha male. He is protective and ruthless. What's not to like? Plus he has a huge dick and he's very honourable. Did I mention the BIG DICK?

There is a little bit more than just sex. The shifter world ms. Dohner created seems to be more animalistic than other shifter books. So far, two of the series I've read of hers, both are filled with prejudice against halfbreeds and other races. Makes me wonder if Ms. Dohner has mixed kids or is a mixed kid herself. It's starting to feel personal to her. Still, this book is recommended to paranormal readers who enjoy erotic semi-shifter sex.

I really enjoyed His Purrfect Mate (Mating Heat #2). Upon meeting Anton in book 1 of the Mating Heat series (Mate Set), he was interesting but held no true appeal for me. That all changed in this book as I couldn't help but fall for both the man and his beast!

Anton, werewolf shifter and next in line to be Alpha of his pack, and Shannon, one-quarter puma shifter who was raised outside of the shifter world, meet when he rescues her from the young werewolf pups intent on catching and killing a "cat," Shannon. Because her shifter blood is diluted, Anton doesn't realize what she is immediately and assures her that she is under his protection until he can get her back to her home. A break-in at her apartment sparks his most protective side in both man and wolf, which makes him even more determined to protect her.

While his vow to protect her is honorable, it's mating heat and the chemistry between Anton and Shannon burns up the pages with smexy scenes that are so hot you fan yourself!

In this book, we also get to spend more time with his brothers and cousin who are all endearing in their own way.

I love this series and hope there are more books to come... and soon!

Highly recommended.

4.5 stars at least! OMG, this book was fantastic from the beginning to the end. How the characters click with each other personality. Yum Anton, mmm, delightful, from the long hair to his tail, oops. The brothers were so funny. I have to admit, I am a sucker when a man kneels down and pledge his love to the woman without any guilt, just speak from the heart. WOW, I was in tears how he wanted her so much and yet he knew that she was scared because the way his family were feeling toward her Puma side. But what a bitch was his mother, I wanted to kill her, what she did to Shannon and also wanting to kill some other members because she wanted to have it her way. To Ms. Dohner, thank you, your writing keeps me on the edge of the seat waiting what conflict might be or who will be falling in love it was so surreal. Bravo!

Better get out your oven mitts to hold this one, it is HOT!

I got into the story right away, and read it straight through. The hero is yummy and the sex scenes are something else! If you are a fan of erotic romance and need a summer pick-me-up, you can't go wrong with this book.

It is the 2nd of a series. You could read it without reading the first and not be lost, but i'm glad i read the first one.

This was another cover to cover quick read, regardless of length, for me. I enjoyed this one much better than the first mainly because Anton didn't act like a tool like our poor Grady did, and make a huge mess out of everything. The characters were sexy and entertaining and the sex was hot. Fun series!
