Dexter Price hadn’t been the same since the day he lost his family and became scarred. Living with physical and emotional scars made him the angry loner that he was. Never thinking of a future with a family, he worked his life away...until one of his mornings...
Elena Collins had her own scars that left her distant and all alone. A run in the park changed everything. After being knocked down by a careless bicyclist, she received a helping hand up from a man who she only knew from afar, but who had an important part to play in her past.
Their scars kept them from others but brought them together. Can how they got them to tear them apart?
I love reading the Beauty and the Beast story - where not-beautiful people fall in love (#relatable). In this case, both the hero and the heroine are scarred, though, of course, they’re still incredibly attractive. This is a quick case of insta-love, which isn’t exactly expected (or wanted) when you’re reading a book with this premise. That said, it’s a cute and quick read. It also has a surprising number of good twists in the plot, considering it’s so short!
What can I say I loved this book. It was about two very scared and frighten people who had never been emotionally or physically involved before. The story starts off on one premiss then slowly changes course. It was a sweet sexy story about learning to trust with a little drama and some action involved to keep you keen...and I was keen. It may not be your thing if you are just looking for the hard stuff but for me it was awesome. Great read and a keeper.
What the hell is wrong with this hero??????!!!!!!! Hero thinks heroine's father is responsible for his father's death and for leaving him scarred for life. Yet he thinks of, wait for it, NOT PURSUING HER, for about a minute, and then goes ah screw it! He doesn't think about revenge, or payback or any such shit. He thinks about pursuing her or not? He is almost....normal? Then he uses his brain to draw conclusions that whatever the fuck happened it was sure as hell not her fault! He doesn't even let her bring that up in public! What is happening here????? Then the heroine finds out about secrets, moves out, and hero, our alpha hero, instead of shredding the whole world to pieces, patiently waits for her to wake up so he can explain himself? AND SHE LETS HIM? And this guy even lets her be friend with a super hot super sexy super charming guy! Whom he is exceedingly jealous of! My poor mind can't take this anymore! I think CM Steele has missed the memo that it's an in thing that the only way to make the heroes manly is to make them assholes.
He's one of the wealthiest men in the world but he felt lonely. His parents died because of an accident caused by a drunk driver.
The first time he saw her, the need to have her was so strong and he can't stop thinking about her. Elena knew who he was. They were connected by an accident that left them with scars not only physically but emotionally.
The moment he found out who she was, he can't believed it but it didn't stop him from wanting her. They're both scared of not being enough but they accepted and loved each other and they didn't blame each other about what happened in the past. There's a twist near the end that I didn't see coming and there's a short but nice epilogue that will leave you happy and satisfied.
"I’ve never wanted anyone before I met you, and I won’t ever desire anyone else. You’re my beginning, middle, and end.”
I have read and re-read this book countless times. It's one of my favs by this author. The H, Dexter is the perfect mix of alpha, possessive with a touch of vulnerability.

Personal Overview
One beautiful story of two lonely scarred souls that find their soulmate, and in them their true healing. Dexter has been living a very lonely and painful life since that tragic day where he lost his parents, and was scarred, in more ways than one, for the rest of his life.
They were still there—the scars that marred my flesh. The scars that held the pain of my loss.
By distancing himself from everyone, either by choice or by the others' reaction to him, was his self-preservation mechanism. That is, until he found someone who he did want to push away, but to pull in and never let go, Elena. Elena has been alone all her live, carrying scars of her own, and a complicated past. She's been living somewhat of a resigned life, but still longing for something, or maybe someone...
When they run into each other, their magnetism is palpable, so much so that it shocks both of them. Dexter immediately recognizes her as someone special to him, and for the first time in his life he wants to hold on to her, and never let go. They just had no idea that Fate was working in their encounter, and their pasts were more intertwined than they could ever imagine. Not that it was going to stop Dex of taking what he considered his...
“Hate you, woman. I could never hate you. I’m trying not to fall madly in love with you—until you’re ready for it.”
“Yeah, you’re right. It’s bullshit. I fell in love with you from the first moment our hands touched. I knew you would be the one to rescue me from the pain of the past.”
I loved this couple, and specially their interactions and balance between the characters. Elena was in not way a doormat to Dexter's cavemanish behavior, and they actually got off on the others reactions and resistance.
This was also reflected in the sex scenes, given that they were both virgin, the fact that that didn't, in any way, steal from the steaminess of their interactions, and in my opinion, and it actually added to their amazing chemistry is proof of the C. M. Steele talent, but also that he don't need to have experience MCs to create sizzling hot sex scenes, and a lot of naughty and dirty talking moments. Coupled with their love, it was perfection.
Dexter, for me, was the absolutely perfect hero, I loved everything about him, his possessiveness, protectiveness and is utter love and devotion to Elena left me sighing all the time. He was so dreamy, he made me crave even more male MCs like him.
There wasn’t a soul in this world that could keep me from her. I’d do everything in my power to become a man worthy of her, but for now, I just needed to give praise and devotion to my savior, my reason for coming alive.
This was such a sweet and sexy story, I really love this insta-love/lust, OTT possessive alpha H trope, and C. M. Steele always does it beautifully, but, in my opinion, in this one story she took it one step forward. This was my absolute favorite from all her books. I don't know if it was the addiction of the virgin H (which I loved, btw), or the plot itself, but I adored this little read. There are some minor writing details that could be worked upon, but I completely disregarded since, after reading all the author's books, I know it as already improved and I'm sure it will be perfected along her career. Especially since it didn't steal, in any way , from my enjoyment of the book. It left me feeling good and happy, and that's just what I'm searching for in my romance books.

Elena Collins carried scars from a horrific automobile accident that happened when she was three years old. Her leg is badly scarred and still causes her daily pain. She came into some money when she turned eighteen and bought a condo not realizing it was right across from Dexter Price, the man that fills her dreams and fantasies every single night. Dexter doesn’t know her but they share a very important link in their pasts. She is convinced that their relationship will only ever continue in her dreams until the morning she attempted a morning jog and was knocked down by a thoughtless bicyclist. It is Dexter’s hand that was offered to help her up.
Dexter Price is a very wealthy man. He has taken his deceased father’s business and made it a success. Dexter also carries scars, both on the outside and on the inside. His scars are on one side of his face and torso. Dexter spends his time either at home or in the office, keeping to himself as much as possible. He does his running early in the morning before everyone else is on the street. It is on this morning that he sees the most beautiful woman he has ever seen across the street. But before he can muster the courage to cross and speak to her, she is knocked down. As he reaches to help her up one word repeats itself in his head, “Mine.”
“I’ve never wanted anyone before I met you, and I won’t ever desire anyone else. You’re my beginning, middle, and end.”
Dexter doesn’t hold back and makes his intentions strongly known. For the first time ever he has hope. He isn’t going to let Elena out of his sight, ever. Both of these two have suffered so much over their lifetimes. Is it too good to be true that they could finally find happiness with each other? It seems there are other factors involved. What will Dexter do when he realizes the link that they share? And, there is another danger lurking, threatening them both. There are also truths that neither of them are aware of that could tear them apart.
This is a very short story of two people linked in the most horrible of ways. These two get a glimpse of the love they have within their grasps but have a lot to overcome before it is theirs. Dexter knew the minute he saw Elena that he wanted her and that she would be his. His alpha tendencies were a little over the top. But Elena didn’t seem to mind. And when they came together, they most definitely steamed up the pages. I loved Dexter’s secretary. It seems like she was really the only one he allowed in. And Elena’s puppy was adorable. All in all, it was a short, sweet, steamy read and I enjoyed it.
Great over the top insta-love story about two psychically and mentally scarred people. I loved that they were virgins and how possessive and protective Dexter was. He was crazy in love with Elena and it showed! The super adorable epilogue was a bonus!
I LOVED Dexter! Everything about him was perfect!! Elena was simply sweet and overwhelmingly loving! Together they were perfectly scarred. This book brings to light the fact you don't have to be perfect to be perfect to someone else!
***MILD SPOILER*** I'm still not sure how I feel about the whole Alpha male virgin thing, but I get it. And I think for once it worked.
4.5 imperfectly perfect stars from NADBB!! Reviewed by Krystal.
3.25 stars. This book was just ok for me, but the story was interesting. This is the story of Elena and Dexter, who were both connected by a drunk driving accident that caused the death of their parents. Quick, insta-love book in the style of another author that I like, but not as cheesy (or quite as good.)
I first read this book a few years ago but never wrote and posted a review, as I didn’t review at the time. As I have just re read this book, I decided to write a short review. This story is short, fast paced and a nice read. I read this book within half an hour and was satisfied throughout. I liked Dexter and Elena. I liked that their pasts were linked despite being heart breaking. My heart ached for both Dexter and Elena due to the feelings/insecurities they had about their scars. The chemistry between Dexter and Elena was clear to see. I loved how possessive Dexter was of Elena. Overall, I like this story. I liked that Elena found peace when the truth about the accident was revealed. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and a nice read.
I don't know why I bother. After three failed attempts at reading Ms. Steele's previous works, I was hoping to see growth and improvement with Scarred. This is my fourth attempt at reading this author's works and this is the first one I pushed myself to finish and that's saying something because these novellas are only ~60-80 pages.
Scarred was just ridiculous. I'm all for insta-lust and insta-love...when it's written well. This was just a poor attempt at trying to imitate an Alexa Riley story which failed miserably. Dex and Elena had no chemistry whatsoever. The sex was blah. The story moved so fast it gave me whip lash. The dialogue felt forced and unnatural and the writing and story was choppy.
I admit I like reading first person dual point of views, but this story was jumping back and forth between Dex and Elena without letting the reader know whose point of view was being expressed. It left me more confused than not trying to figure out whose POV I was reading. This just lessened the appeal of this story even more. Just horrible all around.
As mentioned earlier, I had issues with the majority of the dialogue, but here's one example of an awkward scene and writing. So, Dex and Elena just discovered that her crazy next door neighbor broke into her condo. As they are waiting for the police after reporting the break-in, Dex says to Elena: "Elena, let's sit here and not touch anything but each other." Umm...yeah okay. I cringed as a result.
Furthermore, this story felt more like an outline to a story than anything else. This read more like a first draft to me and needed a lot more polishing. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this. Even though I read this for free on Kindle Unlimited I can't take back the precious time I spent reading this.
I learned a long time ago that even when you thought you read about everything that there is to read – there will always be something that will AGAIN surprise you.
Sometimes unfortunately not in a good way.
Really liking the Blurb – I chose to read “Scarred” by C.M. Steele – and like I thought the plot was well developed and the characters were interesting.
But that is also the only point I can give as credit to this book. I am aware that short novels will almost never be able to give the reader the full intensity and feelings some of us desire and I am willing to work with this.
This book however brought the word SHORT to a whole new level and I would actually rename it from “Short” Story to “Fast-Forward” Story. The whole time during reading I felt that I would really come to like the characters if at least one single time the author would allow me to breathe and think about it.
Unfortunately however it was like I was watching a movie with the fast forward button pressed and no way of changing it to play. I could see the whole story running away in front of me and it made me angry.
There was something good here but it does not work out the way it is told.
In my very personal Opinion there are parts that need to be cut out to lessen the flood of details that is overwhelming the reader OR this book has to be filled up to become a normal length novel with more “breathing room” for the reader.
What a sweet and Sexy little read. Dexter was adorable and so obsessed with Elena from the first moment. That was so cute was Elena already had a massive crush. Both had issues and fears that held them back in life and I absolutely loved that both were innocent and enjoyed all the firsts with each other. I'll definitely be going back and reading as many of this author as I can. Another perfect hero author that's safe from all the other woman drama and that pushes her to the top of my must read list. Wasn't perfectly written but the total truth is I'd read 1 million imperfect writing style books.. Over 1 disgusting unsafe book written by the most popular author out there. Give me honorable and loyal heroes and sweet romantic stories any day over the stuff that's being passed off as romance lately. The hero himself deserves a full 5 stars. #AlphaAlert #SafeRead #oneclicknow #PerfectHero #Virgins
I liked the story of two scarred individuals finding each other and enjoyed it more than some of this author's other books. But I have said before and I'll say it again, I think she has some really great potential if she would flesh out the stories more. She has great concepts and I love her OTT heroes. I believe her writing is improving but things are just too rushed. The story line moves too quickly to really get much out of it. But, it was enjoyable and I liked the epilogue.
Another wonderful C.M. Steele book with an over the top alpha male. Both Dexter and Elena share a tragic past that led both of them to being scarred both physically and mentally. As with most books by Ms. Steele you will, of course, get the insta-attraction which I love to read. I also like the fact that both are virgins.
CM Steele always delivers what we instalove lovers want. ..if you're looking for something sweet, love at first sight, ott alpha male who is hopelessly devoted to his h. Then step right up and grab this.
3.5 stars! I loved how both were virgins and how OTT possessive he was, but something was a bit off for me. Maybe the writing idk. Still an enjoyable read!
I'm not actually sure how to rate this book but I will give it 3 stars.
The grammar really need some improvement, and the book is written in very childish manner as if some secondary student has written it. The storyline and character back story everything was amazing except for the fast pace.
The problem with the story was, there are alternate povs between H and h, and there is no warning informing whose Pov is which, we have to read atleast first two lines to know who's Pov is actually going on.
I really liked this book! It's short and sweet. I've never read anything by this author before, so this was a pleasant surprise. The hero was all alpha male without being promiscuous, and the heroine was sweet and innocent, without being annoying. This is great for fans of the insta-love category, but even if you're not, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
I loved this story of the scarred H and h. Dex falls head over heels when he first seed Elena and she’s basically been in love with him even before they met. I loved that even when he found out that she was connected to his past that it didn’t deter him at all! I just loved this book so much! ♥️♥️♥️
