General Garin Nox swears he has no time for a female. One by one his brothers and friends have all found their mates, but he has stayed focused on the rebellion, determined to win freedom for the battle born.

Then he meets Berlynn Tandori, a feisty canine shifter born on Earth. She defies him, yet attracts him, challenging him at every turn. He’s used to having his orders obeyed without question, but Berlynn isn’t one of his men. She’s turning their courtship into a battle of wills, which suits Garin just fine. He thrives on strategy, and someone should have told Berlynn that General Nox has never lost a battle.

Note to Readers: This book contains detailed descriptions of sizzling passion only suitable for mature readers.

From Cyndi: Battle Born is a spinoff of my Shadow Assassins series. However, it’s not necessary to have read the earlier books to enjoy these new stories. All of my books blend elements of science-fiction, fantasy, and paranormal romance. The Battle Born books lean a bit more toward sci-fi, but there is still plenty of steamy romance. Enjoy!

Passionate Sci-Fi with a touch of danger and a whole lot of sass.

Cyndi has written about rock stars, vampires, and cat shifters, but she's currently focused on outer space. Her stories are fun, fast-paced, and seriously hot. She has made the USA Today Top 100, and every book in the Outcasts series landed on Amazon's Top 100. She is currently working on Shadowborn Rebellion, a spin-off series set in the Outcasts universe.

This is the story of General Garin Nix and Berlynn Tandori, the unique canine shifter of the tribe Tandori.

Their story is pretty straitforward: since almost the beginning they know they're soul mates, so there was almost no conflict. Both are attracted to each other and both are very OK with that!
The only, slight, problems are: are they conpatible genetically (because Berlynn is the only shifter there's something mysterious about her genetics) and will she accept being the general's mate with all his duties that will not involve her?
The answer is given almost immediately: a resounding YES to both problems.

BAsically, this could be seen as an in-between book, because the lack of conflict. It's still enjoyable and made me wish to read on because there're many unanswered questions: what's so mysterious about her genetics? How will they solve the problem with Battle Born coming to Earth? What will happen with Milanni? ...

Series best read in order.

As usual, I can't wait for the next one. Back stories, side stories, world development and characters are all consistent, well written and engaging. I would really like the "bad" girl, Milani (sp?) to get a break and her own HEA.

I was completely unsatisfied with this book.

The two main characters had such an interesting dynamic in the last book and I feel like everything that was built up in the last book just fell flat.

At the start I thought this book was going to be fresh and new because of the fact that they were not compatible to start with, but literally 2 chapters later Nox has gone off to get her DNA tested and finds out they are compatible and just has to try harder. After this happens it is the same story as all the others before it - it makes me so angry because I really want to like this series, but the characters names are changing but the romances aren't, once they are compatible it is the same story.

Also, just like the last book, everything moves far to quickly. Something that I believed was going to be the ongoing issue through out the series is already resolved. I don't understand how, as a reader, I am meant to stay interested in the series when there isn't an ongoing conflict to keep my interest.

This book has not lived up to my expectations of this series, and I am almost ready to throw in the towel and try another series.

Oh man, this author really takes you right to the edge with a bang and then gently reels you back. So much of the rules and norms that govern the battle born skate horribly close to chauvinism at its worst, like the men don’t like women wearing pants, and unmated women must have a protection detail, that burns my inner feminists gluteals, but I just love the emotional connection, the sweetness that comes when they both surrender. And I adore that Berlynn kicked behind.

Garin and Berlynn

Garin seems to be always in control. What he really wants is a mate. Someone to complete him. Berlynn is having trouble with her uncle. He is raging. Millani is scheming. Poor Nicole is just not responding. The fight is moving forward. Berlynn is a little annoying with her indecisive feelings. Poor Garin.

I don't know why but I was expecting more from General Nox's story. Was also a bit disappointed that there was not more to the shifter. I mean the story worked because we see the near conclusion of the rebellion but there were no real bright spots, for me, in their romance. Still waiting for a story as thrilling and in-depth as book 4.

I have been waiting so impatiently for this to release and I was absolutely stoked to see that it was General Garin Nox's story. Undaunted is a brilliant addition to the Battle Born series and I can't wait for more to release. We have seen Garin, not only in this series, but also he has made cameo appearances in Cyndi's other series' as well. We have gotten to know him, well as much as he has let us. Cyndi has the ability to tie her stories into a much larger whole while allowing them to maintain their individuality, showcasing the talent she has for world and character building, that is not only creative but also extremely well done. These men are alpha to their very core, talented warriors without exception. In fact they would make any woman's knees weak. Now let's talk about the women who love them, beautiful, both inside and out, they are strong, stubborn and more than a match for their mates. Garin is all this and much more, his strength of will, focus, ability and character are nothing when compared to the love he has for his family. It is because of this that he is on the path in life he now follows, leading a rebellion, fighting for freedom and a future the Battle Born so richly deserve. Enter Berlynn Tandori, feisty, headstrong and a canine shifter, she is Garin's match in every way. Now it's back to impatiently waiting for her next book to release.

The next in the series

This one is about Garrin Nox and Berlyn Tandoori. Berlin's a shifter and has always been different than the rest of her clan. She feels the pull toward Garrin , but is it the real thing ? Garrin is the head of his household and has to have a mate he can have children with. Is it just attraction between them or is it the real thing? And if it is, where does Berlyn fit in his life? What pArt is she in this rebellion? We get a lot of cameos from previous characters. The general plot of the rebellion moves along a lot. Milani follows through on the plans set in motion in the last book, but we do not get to see the end of that storyline in this episode. I look forward to the next installment.

Daunting Read

This book is the sixth of a series based on the a complicated battles of a war on Kryton between several groups, basically, the good guys and the bad guys. To really understand it all, you need to read the book. The storyline flowed, keeping your attention as the hero and the heroine overcome their basic differences and work together for the good of his people. Character development was another strong, point, with some surprises along the way. I really liked the book but I seem to find it hard
To write a coherent review.
So, rather than read my rambling, read the story.

The Battle Born Series is awesome!

I gave this book 5 stars because it ticked off every box I have for a great book. The is plenty of romance, suspense and Happy ever after for the star players in the book. Cyndi is a great writer, her thoughtfulness about the story is very present from the beginning and continues thru to the end. She keeps you excited throughout the journey in her stories. The Battle Born books are great stand alone books but if you start at the beginning you get a bigger picture of the feelings they have and are trying to overcome. I can't wait for my next installment, thanks again Cyndi.

Great series looking forward to the next one.

Very well written. I hate books that have not been edited well. No problems with this series. First class story's with lots off detail about life with aliens. Very much looking forward to the next In series.
