It's a good book to start with on the subject; it will stir your curiosity to explore. I tried the Audible version and found the 4:10hrs of narration rather moving.

If you are new to the concept of Kundalini, this is an ideal book to get started. A large portion of the book deals with the mythology, concept and beliefs. The explanation is simple and easy to read. The latter part of the book deals with meditation practice. The notes here are sketchy and you will likely need more guidance before you can get going. This is probably just as well - an instructor or group meditation would make this easier. However, more notes of the authors personal experience and/or an accompanying DVD would have been great.

Definitely recommended for a conceptual read on Kundalini.

An ideal book to get started or be motivated to know about chakras and kundalini. I would like to appreciate the author's research and depth of knowledge in this topic. He starts the chapters mentioning about Shiva and Sati - telling about the grand yajna organised by her father etc. In the next chapter he sets the platform for the supreme Devi "MahatripuraSundari" who emerges out of a yajna organised by all devas to kill the asura "Bandasura". I had no clue why am I reading all this until the point in chapter 3 that brings "Lalitha Sahasranama" - A script written by Hyagreva to welcome the Supreme Devi and the author exceptionally completes the chapter saying that its Lalitha Sahasranama, the first mention of chakra and kundalini ever made. Rest of the chapters mention about each chakra with detail and the author's experience on awakening the kundalini. A well written and entertaining book!

A good book for spiritual reader.
Love it! Simple, yet so profound!
You will get knowledge how to activate Kundalini. It really describes what we need to do in terms of self-development in order to rise above. Om Swami explains very clearly what the "kundali" actually is and which "knots" need to be opened to be able to move towards the Divine Light.

A good book indeed for a beginner to understand what Kundalini is. This is an author's account of his experiences and very brief overview of its beginnings, background & preparation.

However, master's direct guidance is must for such an advanced and sensitive topic is must. Same holds true for any other book which is more detailed.

The author promises an unbiased guide that throws out chakra "gobbledygook". The guide is both biased and full of gobbledygook.

First problem: the gobbledygook. He begins with a story where he good naturedly pokes fun at a woman complaining that one of her chakras was spinning off-balance. She was told to wear an expensive piece of jewelry and burn certain incense to fix the problem. Om Swami gently tells her that this is all nonsense. In the author's view, physical things like stones, clothes, incense, etc. aren't going to help you raise your Kundalini through your chakras. There is no shortcut or external tool that will speed along your spiritual journey, the only way to raise Kundalini energy through your chakras is by journeying inwards through meditation. I happen to agree.

Despite this view, the author goes out of his way to describe the impact of specific foods on the opening of each chakra. For example, yogurt should be eaten while meditating on the svadisthana chakra. How is this any less ridiculous than the woman wearing a specific stone to balance the chakra she was struggling with? Is he saying that a dairy farmer equipped with barrels of yoghurt will pierce his svadisthana chakra more quickly than the guy next door with a yogurt allergy? There is no right or wrong when it comes to spirituality. There is helpful and unhelpful. If wearing a stone helps you focus on your svadisthana chakra, go for it. If eating yogurt helps, by all means go for it. No one's gobbledygook is better than anyone else's, despite what this author would have you believe.

Second problem: the bias. The author is describing one Tantric view of the chakras and Kundalini awakening. The problem is that he asks the reader to throw out everything that we know about chakras, implying that his information is right and ours is wrong (see earlier note about right and wrong). For example, he gives these seed mantras for each chakra based off a text from the Brahmanda Purana called Lalita Sahasranama which is a sacred text of some Tantra systems:

Sam - muladhara
Kam - svadishtana
Lam - manipura
Ram - anahata
Dam - visuddhi
Ham - ajna

Those seed mantras are different from the ones more commonly used which are taken from texts like Woodroffe's "Serpent Power" translation of the Sri Vidya text Shat-Chakra-Nirupana and Sage Kanchi's discourses "Deivathin Kural" on Adi Shankara's tantra textbook Saundarya Lahari:

Lam - muladhara
Vam - svadishtana
Ram - manipura
Yam - anahata
Ham - visuddhi
Om - ajna

His description of chakra colors also differs from the descriptions in those other sources I listed above (I'm talking about vedic literature and tantric translations, not the rainbow chakra colors we see in the West - although those are a fine interpretation too).

None of this would bother me in the slightest if not for the fact that the author both heavily implies that his interpretation is correct and emphasizes the importance of color and seed mantras in his meditation guide.

Obviously, the color and syllable you focus on during your personal meditation don't matter to anyone but you. I would respect the author more if he framed his book like this: "This is how I meditate on chakras based on some tantric texts. There are lots of other versions based on other Vedic texts and newer versions based on modern systems. Do whatever works best for you". Instead, it comes off as "You're doing it wrong, this is how you meditate on the chakras". THERE'S NO RIGHT OR WRONG! It's all gobbledygook (the most powerful magic of all).

I am relatively new to Kundalini and Chakras. It is quite an interesting and mysterious subject which need an open mind, a bit of interest in biology and Indian mythology. It checks all the checkboxes for me so I started reading this just to add another book to my disappointment list.
Rather than getting into the details and explaining the nuances of kundalini and chakras, it connects everything to sex and sexuality. There are a couple of interesting chapters but I didn't like the way it connected the subject to sex. You can get my point when I say that there's no page without the word sex.

Avoid. Avoid at all cost...

It's the best book those who are searching for truth of God and also we will learn some moralities .The author clearly explains the story in a very easy way with some good examples .Om Swami excels at keeping our curiosity and attention till the last word of the book. Although the book deals with a host of philosophical, spiritual, and tantric themes, it is engrossing owing to its simple, lucid, and mellifluous language and invitation to us to find their own experience and ultimate awakening. This book has some references of lalitha sahasranama, the bhagavadgita, yoga texts and sentences of wisdom.i suggest this book to all those who want to increase knowledge on the truth of chakras and its use . Because the author clearly explains the each chakras Very clearly

There's a lot of hay and when you find the needle, you'll realize that it points to the Lalita Sahasranama.

The first parts of the book explains the relevant mythology and gives the author's perspective of kundalini meditation. The second half of the book is concerned with "mastering" the seven chakras - the relevant text in the Lalita Sahasranama, its literal and esoteric meaning, what diet to follow (!), how to meditate etc.

It's a short book that you can read as an introduction if you have absolutely zero idea about tantric studies, but be prepared to find the author claiming things you have every right to be skeptical about.

What I liked most about this book is the author's narration. There are a very few books which talks about kundalini so deeply and in such a profound way. This book will take you to an amazing journey of kundalini. I really liked Seamiji's way of storytelling. He is fantastic. I am going to read more of his books.

Om Swami is a great teacher, perhaps to be a Buddha in his right. I love how presents the hard and the easy path at once. His writing style is easily recognized, and the way he speaks for Thervada and Mahayan Buddhism is exmplory. He is a treasure. But you must still read "In the Buddha's Words" edited by the amazing and beloved Bhikku Budhi. We cannot understand commentary if we have not yet meditated enough or read enough of the Shakymuni Guatama Buddha. Om Swamt read his state of guru by studying and practicing, learning and discussion.
I wish I could read all of Om Swami the way tv shows are binge watched. He is engaging. I have spoken back to passages in his books before, as if it would respond, and sure enough a couple of paragraphs or chapters later he does and this is why he is such a celebrated future emergence as an Enlightened one in the Hall of 500. But yeah, I know I know things are different, but it is just a wish.

No one can review/judge a book on a topic so esoteric like this. That being said, one of the good thing about the book is that it makes Kundalini believable. Busts one or two myths about it.
This book was highly needed at a time, when Tantra, Yoga & Spirituality are used to con unsuspecting & fearful ones.
If I had to sum up the book in 1 line: "Rise of Kundalini can't happen in a day, its labour is the same as PHD's but the outcome is magnificent, nature makes you part of its grand plans, you cease to remain a mere cog, you become the wheel"

Words cannot convey how much I am in love with this book. This book explores the untapped potential of Kundalini and offers valuable insights into its awakening, benefits, and challenges. Written by Om Swami. This book sheds light into the mystical concept of Kundalini, a powerful and transformative energy within every human being.

Ok here I am briefly describing my key learnings from this book.

❈ The book introduces Kundalini as a dormant, coiled energy located at the base of the spine. When awakened, it rises through the energy centers (chakras) along the spine, leading to profound spiritual experiences and self-realization.
❈ The book also explain the methods, practices and the importance of having a teacher to awaken kundalini-which may include practicing meditation, breathwork, yoga, mantra chanting, and energy cultivation techniques.
❈ Effects of kundalini awakening, which can be positive and challenging. It can lead to heightened awareness, spiritual insights, expanded consciousness, and increased vitality. However, it can also induce intense physical and emotional sensations, requiring proper guidance and integration.
❈ Exploring the Chakra system: which consists of seven energy centers along the spinal column. Each chakra corresponds to specific aspects of human experience and plays a role in the Kundalini awakening process.
❈How Kundalini awakening can help in spiritual transformation.

"Kundalini is the spark of the divine that resides within each of us. It is the untapped potential waiting to be awakened, leading us on a journey of self-discovery and spiritual evolution."

Important Concepts:

a. Kundalini Shakti: The divine feminine energy represented by Kundalini, symbolizing creative power and spiritual awakening.

b. Prana: The life force energy that flows through the body, vital for Kundalini activation and ascent.

c. Nadi: The energy channels or pathways through which Kundalini travels, mainly the Sushumna, Ida, and Pingala.

d. Kundalini Syndrome: The range of physical, emotional, and psychological symptoms that can arise during the Kundalini awakening process. Proper understanding and support are crucial for navigating this phase.

e. Surrender and Self-Realization: The journey of Kundalini is characterized by surrendering to the divine energy and ultimately realizing the true nature of oneself as divine consciousness.

Mind blowing book !!!

I thought it was just another book on yogi's perspective towards Kundalini and how to awaken it. But I was proved wrong, Never have I ever read something like this before.

The book is a personal conviction of Om Swami and his truth about how to awaken our dormant Kundalini.

The book is entirely based upon Sri Vidya of Lalitha Sahasranama where the first and actual awakening of latent Kundalini was mentioned. I have learned about divine mother through various subjects like worshipping nature, worshipping divine mother from reading books of Ramakrishna Paramhansa, swamy vivekananda, swamy Shivananda Maharaj etc but this in this On Swami took an entirely different perspective from what the Yogis taught about Kundalini previously.

I have read about awakening kundalini by maintaining Akanda Brahmacharya by Oordhvaretha in Astanga Yoga and by Hatha Yogic techniques and even read left handed path of some yogis to awaken the Kundalini, but this book talks about Awakening kundalini through pure insights we draw from Lalitha Sahasranama only.

The book has stories from purana like Brahmanda purana right from the story of Daksha to Bhandasura Vadha, Teaching of esotoric kundalini Vidya from Shiva, Agastya Muni to Ved Vyasa and him explaining it in Atharvaveda. I have thoroughly enjoyed the innate wisdom of the above knowledge through the simple writing style and subtle humour of Om Swami.

The book clearly gives a clear picture about what chakras are, where they are situated in the body, how to study them and what are effects of the chakras on one's body. Om swami teaches us about the pathways and explains about how Shakti meets Shiva in sahasrara chakra through the channels (nadi's) untying the granthis and through various and finally to Sahasrara chakra where she is United.

The book also provides residing Devis in each chakras, the colour to visualize and the sound of the chakra.

The book is very powerful and clear in explaining us about the esoteric wisdom of the Kundalini to us and the teachings us to practice diligently with a unflinched dedication to see Devi inside us.

Jai mata !!

For those curious about the enigmatic force of Kundalini energy, Om Swami's book "Kundalini" serves as an insightful and accessible guide.

Swami, known for his clear and engaging writing style, demystifies this complex concept, weaving together mythological narratives, historical context, and practical advice. He starts with an engaging story, drawing the reader into the world of Kundalini, before delving deeper into its nature, location, and potential for spiritual awakening.

One of the book's strengths is its balanced approach. It is quite difficult to review this book, as this book talks about divine powers. To understand this divine power, you should have experienced it yourself.
I chose to read this book as I wanted to understand in depth about the different chakras. There is a lot of information on web, but I felt that instead of trying to get information from here and there, why not get complete information from a single source. I must confess that after reading the book, I have more questions than answers. Firstly, Swamiji provides information on chakras based on Lalita Sahasranam. This is quite different from all the other texts that I had read until now. I am still not able to understand how to locate the different chakras in the body. Had there been a pictorial representation of chakras, it would have been so better. for eg the Muladhara chakra is located at the base of spine, but the Manipura chakra is on the belly. How do we visualize this?
Lastly, this book is for serious seekers. Read this book only when you are already good in meditation. May be I should have begun with "A Million Thoughts" first.
