This is the second book in the series but you don’t have to have read the first to enjoy most of this one. Mimi is marrying the love of her life, someone she hadn’t realised is actually a member of the English nobility. She’s also pregnant and suffering from severe sickness so her family and fiancé are sorting out the details. There are many laugh out loud moments in this - I confess to having tears running down my face at some of the events and interactions.

The characters and relationships are brilliantly portrayed, including their more eccentric quirks and foibles, all of which add to the drama and humour of the story! The trials and tribulations of pregnancy are described with sympathetic empathy and a huge dose of humour. Many of the earlier events were just plain hilarious and totally believable, however some of the ones in postpartum seemed to take things too far and detracted somewhat from my overall enjoyment of the story. It would easily have been a 5* read until the weirdly weird aspects portrayed after she gives birth! Yes, postnatal depression happens for many women but I’m certain any husband would have been notified of unexpectedly high expenditure on the materials Mimi purchases so he would have been more aware of her fears and actions. Coming from such a close knit and supportive family, I’d also have anticipated more of them becoming aware of what she is up to! However, it is still an enjoyable read, even if you do have to suspend your disbelief in the latter part of the story.

I requested and was given a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion after choosing to read it.

I'm a big fan of Mimi Finnegan. I turned many onto the first book, and gave it as a gift as well. I'll still admit, no book made me lol like the first one.

I read this book months ago. Weeks after I finished, I had the courage to contact the author. I had conflicting feelings about the sequel, and I didn't want to jump on the judgmental wagon as many of the reviews. Whitney Dineen was kind enough to have a dialogue with me, and elaborated her intentions of trying to bring more depth and real problems, into her light-humorous books. Kudos to the author tor taking the time to address her readers on FB video, or answering directly.

I think I'm stuck in the middle. I understand Whitney's intentions and I understand the harsh critics. In my humble-personal opinion, the first part of the book is still hilariously funny, but the second part takes an odd turn of postpartum depression phobias, that even people who went through can't relate. It almost felt like the real story of the book was lost. The cover and the title suggested Mimi and her motherhood. The details of the second-half of the story were only focused on Mimi's fears, not the baby, the family or even her sister who just became a mother, too. It felt like two different books.

I'm going to read the next book. I still love the character and the author's style. I believe Mimi Finnegan will come back from her hormonal shifts of paranoid schizophrenia, and find herself. Everyone deserves a second chance. The best 'feel good' stories come from redemption. We all love come-back stories. :-))

I’ve been singing the praises of the first book in The Mimi Chronicles for the last year and have been waiting not-so-patiently for its sequel to be released, so my expectations were very high. I’m happy to say that Mimi Plus Two did not disappoint! The story picks up where The Reinvention of Mimi Finnegan left off – Mimi’s got her man, she’s got a bun in the oven, and she’s getting married. To say that she’s overwhelmed would be an understatement! Of course, making it down the aisle without barfing is only the first of many challenges that Mimi faces as a wife and mother.

I don’t want to spoil what happens with Mimi in the book, but suffice it to say that she rides an emotional roller coaster throughout the story and I wanted to give her a hug for most of the second half. What I appreciated most about this book was how “real” it felt. Mimi’s problems are ones that many women struggle with, so I recognized friends, family members, and even myself in her. I love that Mimi never loses her sense of humor no matter how difficult things get, and there isn’t an easy solution to everything.

Another great part of Mimi Plus Two was getting to revisit so many of the characters I fell in love with in the first book – Mimi’s sisters and their significant others, the dreamboat she chose, and the one she didn’t. And some fun, new characters are introduced – including Mimi’s in-laws. I liked her sister-in-law, who has a very special talent, so much that I’m hoping she’ll be the star of her own book some day!

I recommend this book (and the series!) to all fans of Chick Lit and Women’s Fic. Mimi is a heroine who will make you laugh and cry (Sometimes on the same page!), and she’s someone you’ll thoroughly enjoy spending time with.

I received a copy of Mimi Plus Two in exchange for an honest review.

I voluntarily offered to review this book. It was the first book I read in the series and the first one I read by the author. Not reading the first one, didnt confuse me about the book at all. I found it to be a light hearted read. I would read more books by the author

I don't like reading reviews, so why am I leaving one here you say? Because this book is that GOOD. Because I feel no author should have to make a YouTube video to warn readers about the book before they read it because of the reviews that have been written about it. Not too long ago we would have had to write letters to the publisher about how we loved or hated the book, and really would you have taken the time out of you day to bash this author the way you have over the way you feel she portrayed a subject in a book? I doubt it, but its so easy now, to sit behind your computer and say anything and people believe you. Its quite sad, this is why I never read the reviews. I go in blindly and read the book and judge for myself. I am so glad I did. Because Whitney Dineen is a jewel! You see one of the side characters in this book Beatrice has cancer. I too have had cancer. I was so over joyed with the way Whitney lovingly portrayed her and her losing her battle. The lose of the character's life is dealt with lovingly and maturely and you understand not everyone survives Cancer. I did. I am 27 years and counting.

What the book touched on the most and what the book is causing the most controversy on is the Postpartum Depression. Not a funny jokey joke moment for her to write about. Its not a funny moment to live through either. But I also lived through that as well. So I think I can judge her book. I can say from someone who has lived through that hormonal hell that, Whitney did a hell of a job of trying to explain what it feels like to have every hormone imaginable blasting your senses at one time and trying to overcome it naturally because she is breast feeding her newborn baby. And she does this with her beautiful and quirky wit. How can you possibly make Postpartum Depression funny? You can't. But, you can show that not everything in life is dire. Not everything is life altering. Somethings are laughable. You can laugh at yourself. Don't forget to laugh! Enjoy this life we have, even if your crying one minute and laughing the next. You will see the light. And if you feel you can't then you go see a professional. We can't do this alone all the time.

Mimi is a funny quirky character who is coming to grips with her new body post baby delivery. Hormonal and not taking any medication to help her through this period she turns to exercise and late night TV shows, Dooms Day Preppers and Alien Invasions! This will set anyone's mind a racing. There are sub-characters that feed into Mimi's hormonal madness. Her new nanny Abbie. More cook, gardener, artist, than nanny and now Mimi"s newest Alien confidant. Its a mad, mad house!

Throw in Pip, which is Mimi's sister in law that see's and hears dead people and passes on their messages. And Richard, Mimi's old boyfriend who is now looking a little more closely at Pip. The house is getting a little crazier and a little smaller.

I LOVED this book! And I can't wait for and I hope Whitney writes another one quite quickly.

“If I’ve learned anything since meeting
Elliot, it’s this: life doesn’t turn out like you expect it to.”

This book is the second of a series in The Mimi Chronicles. I have not read the first book. As I was reading the book, I felt that it worked well as a stand-alone read, that the author had done a good job of setting the stage. But now that I have had time to think it over, I wish I had read book 1 first. I believe I would have had a better understanding of the main character, Mimi, and the rest of her world.

As this book starts, Mimi is preparing to marry her true love, blue blood English gentleman, Elliot. Elliot has an interesting family- noble parents, and a sister with a unique talent. It’s a new world for Mimi- “The Queen of England sent us a wedding gift?”

The rest of the story is a look at how Mimi fairs with her first pregnancy. If you are interested in mucous plugs and post-partum depression, this may well be a five-star read for you. If not, then the story is rather predictable. There are some funny moments- I loved learning about the “preppers” and there are some sad and worrying parts. The author does do a great job of creating “real” characters that are interesting and appealing.

Mimi is the most captivating of the characters. At times she is snarky, and then she can be sweet, thoughtful and fun-loving. You will find yourself rooting for her as she faces her new challenges. In the end, she starts to see herself as her family does. “Just between you and me, he confides, “you have the biggest heart. You’re the most giving of my daughters and you’re by far the most humble. In many ways, you are my most impressive child.”
If you are a fan of Mimi, you will be happy to catch up with her in this well-written and relatable book.

I devoured the first Mini book and couldn't wait to read the sequel. Once again, Dineen took me on a delightful journey through the next phase of Mimi's unpredictable life with the man of her dreams. I expected laughs and heartwarming moments with the cast of characters I grew to love from the first book. And, I was not disappointed. I found myself laughing out loud as Mimi figures out newly married life with her immediate suburban family and her new upper-crust relations. I waited for the arrival of the baby she had been dreaming of and expected more uproariously funny escapades.

What I didn't expect was the very unexpected twist after the birth of Mimi's firstborn. Dineen takes us into the very real world of postpartum depression that many mothers face. Mimi certainly didn't sign up for this chapter in new motherhood, but she finds her way through with a few vital helpers. It's a bold move for an author known for hilarity to delve into the subject matter so honestly. Just be assured that Mimi comes through gloriously.

With "Mimi Plus Two," we fall deeper in love with this Mimi and her little family. And it leaves us waiting and wondering what to expect I'm the next episode.

While the author is a wonderful writer and Mimi is a fun and funny character, do not compare this book to the first in the series. This one still has humor and some outright laughs but it also has a darker tone to it. We are going along for the ride through Mimi's pregnancy, and that of her sister who is carrying triplets! You can imagine it will not be all fun and games.
The focus is firmly on Mimi and her side effects of pregnancy and post partum depression.

I love the nanny and Mimi's sister-in-law with their quirks and am sure we will get to know them better and have fun with them in future books. This was just an introduction.
Richard is back, with all the friction having a past boyfriend underfoot entails.
I liked Victoria before it seemed most others did.

The first book made us laugh often. This book is more dramatic with humorous undertones.
It is a departure from what her readers are used to. Give it a chance. Or don't.
I will be looking for the next of Mimi's adventures as a new mother and prepper.

Mimi’s back and she’s with baby. Don’t think for one second that motherhood would calm her zany ways. Knowing that she’s going to be responsible for another life, combined with her ever changing hormones, Mimi’s convinced that the end of the world is near.

Pure to Whitney Dineen style, we’re treated to a delightfully entertaining, hysterically funny and impossible to put down read. But there are some serious moments too. After the birth of her child, we witness the affects postpartum depression has on Mimi. The way the author seamlessly combines the laugh-out-loud moments along with more sensitive ones is pure brilliance.

I couldn’t wait to read this book. Not only is Mimi a fun and completely entertaining character, but she is surrounded by a whole cast of interesting and at times peculiar group of people. Fun, entertaining and real, Mimi Plus Two is sure to delight!

I didn't really believe the claims that a book about a pregnancy was going to be funnier than ever, but I decided to try it anyway. Now, after having stayed up all night in the vain quest for entertainment, all I can do is repeat the old joke. You know, the one that says the book should've been titled The Count of Monte Crisco, because it needed shortening.

Book 1 was funny; this one isn't. It drags on forever, going into as much detail about the pitfalls of pregnancy as a manual for mothers-to-be. The author carelessly substitutes the word "postpartum" for the very real condition properly called postpartum depression, then proceeds to treat it as a joke. And although early hype promised a solution to Richard's romantic dilemma, it's just a hint that's bound to wind up as yet another book.

Just read book 1.

Great start, ended in nutsville

Loved book one couldn't wait to dive into this one. But boy howdy, did it take a strange turn about half way through. I kept expecting a dream sequence kind of explanation as to why Mimi goes off the deep end. Loved the beginning. Hated the ending. Stopped being funny, got downright depressing. Too bad, had great hopes for it.

I LOVED this book! I'm totally surprised by the criticism of the second half. Some women have a horrible time with postpartum. I, for one, don't want to read a saccharine sweet book with no bumps. I really loved the first book in this series but thought Mimi Plus Two was even better! Don't listen to the haters!!

This is the first book that I have read by Whitney Dineen and it won’t be the last. I absolutely loved this book. I love the author’s writing style- it is like you are having a coffee with Mimi and she is telling you all about her life. The cast of characters is fantastic and Mimi is hilarious. The book has a great pace and I didn’t find that I was bored at any point. Yes, the story has some outlandish points but that is part of what makes it such a fun read. Although this is definitely a comedy, it highlights the very serious topic of postpartum anxiety and depression which Mimi is trying to deal with. While Mimi’s case of postpartum anxiety and depression may be a bit extreme, the book emphasizes the need to find some type of support and she finds it in a most unlikely place which is a great twist on the story. Now I need to read the previous book and can’t wait for the next one!!

I received an ARC of this book and have voluntarily provided an honest review.

I want a Mimi Finnegan in my life!!
I read this trilogy all out of order, but it was absolutely a delight from beginning to end. I adore Whitney Dineen's writing and can't wait to read her other books! The characters are charming and quirky (if a bit too perfect) and her writing is full of wit and wisdom. I found myself laughing until the tears were rolling down my face one moment and the next being so upset on behalf of a character that it put me in a mood that was hard to shake. The storyline is hilariously unbalanced and oh-so-human, and the first person style is engaging. At times I could relate so well to Mimi's hormone-induced insanity that it was frightening. Dive into the wacky world of the Finnegans and their loved ones. You won't want to leave.

Wow! I have actually never stopped reading a book but this one.... I am getting close. The first book was amazing. Laugh out loud, built up these amazing characters, I was ecstatic to start this one but now I am livid I did not read the reviews because I have wasted a couple days reading this book (usually I finish a book in a day or two and regret it the next day when I'm running on 2 hours of sleep) this book has taken me 5 days and I'm only 70% through. This book drones on and on. It makes me hate the characters I loved in the last book. I feel like this book was a direct result of a rushed deadline and the author filled the pages with so much that did nothing for this story line. Not sure I am gonna head for book three

Funny and with a surprising twist

I liked it. Although I liked the beginning the best. The postpartum depression was a bit OTT. Maybe not as lighthearted as I had thought. I do appreciate though that she wrote about this serious subject, because not everyone is on cloud nine after having a baby.

Still, it was good fun, for the most part! And not everything happens the way you’d expect… Not sure how I feel about the end though… I AM curious as to what’s going to happen in the next book, so therefore still a good score.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and voluntarily posted an honest review.

Mimi Plus Two (The Mimi Chronicles #2)
Violence: none
Language: not loads of it, an FBomb
Sex: nope
I think you can only really understand a person if you consider the arc of their lifetime. Poor Mimi is in a rough spot, y'all. I mean, I felt like she was a dear friend in Mimi 1 and to have her lose her religion in Mimi 2 just tore me up. She's still in there, so I'll continue the series (plus, I haven't read any Whitney Dineen books that I have not enjoyed); I just remember too well that postpartum craziness and it was painful not to be able to help Mimi.

Mimi is getting married to a dream man which should make her happy but she is paranoid about everything. Too many good wishes and she knows it will fall apart. It get even worse when she realizes her future husband is a future Earl. He wants her to show for a bigger house and she only wants her small bungalow were she is comfortable. She worries about her unborn child and after she is born she worries about keeping her safe.

I absolutely LOVE Mimi Finnegan Fielding! Mimi Plus Two just adds to my love of this character from The Reinvention of Mimi Finnegan. Mimi is so real, relatable and completely lovable. A true chic-lit beauty. I was laughing out loud through most of the book. A book that truly makes you realize you're not alone in this crazy journey called life.

This book started off as funny and engaging as the first book in this series, then went off the rails in the second half with talk of doomsday prepping and aliens. I felt a little like the author had to make the book a certain length but couldn't come up with enough plot. That is too bad because I do like Mimi alot.

Even though wealthy peers of the realm appear as "real people ", the characters are totally relatable.

Overall message is to appreciate every moment as you never know what is coming. Many chuckles, some lol and tears. Can be stand alone but advise reading first book for best appreciation of characters.
