Les hores és un llibre de Josep Pla que recull els articles dedicats als esdeveniments, tan socials com atmosfèrics, lligats amb el calendari de l'any. Es va publicar el 1971 com a volum 20 de l'Obra Completa, tot i que el 1953 ja es va publicar una edició reduïda amb el mateix títol. El llibre està basat pràcticament amb els articles de Destino.

As a journalist he worked in France, Italy, England, Germany and Russia, from where he wrote political and cultural chronicles in Catalan.
The most important characteristics of the “planian” style are simplicity, irony, and clarity. His works show a subjective and colloquial view, “anti-literary”, in which he stresses, nevertheless, an enormous stylistic effort by calling things by their names and “coming up with the precise adjective”, one of his most persistent literary obsessions.
Pla lived completely dedicated to writing. The extent of his Obres Completes - Complete Works (46 volumes and nearly 40,000 pages), which is a collection of all his journals, reports, articles, essays, biographies and both long and short novels.
His liberal-conservative thought, skeptic and uncompromising, filled with irony and common sense, keeps sounding contemporary, completely current, even though it seems to contradict the current cultural establishment same as it did with its completely opposed antecessor. His books remain in print and both Spanish and Catalan critics have unanimously recognized him as one of the greatest writers of the 20th century.

“La poesia consisteix, estimat amic, a desitjar l’impossible, a aspirar a menjar bunyols quan no hi ha bunyols. La poesia és cosa de la imaginació i de la fantasia. És la il·lusió del que no existeix més que en la vaguetat del pensament. Els bunyols que coneguérem ja no existeixen. La misèria i la sacarina els han fets passar avall inexorablement”

M'encanta aquest llibre. Ideal per començar a llegir-lo l'1 de gener de qualsevol any, ja que descriu el clima, costums, gastronomía, canvis d'estacions i qualsevol altre fet del pas del temps. Antropología, costums i tradicions de la segona meitat del segle XX. Molt interesant.

El pas del temps escrit amb gran riquesa de vocabulari. Tot ha canviat molt però tampoc tant.
