Delaney McPhearson has faced danger after danger. And along the way she’s lost a great deal. Some would say too much. But for the first time, she has fully embraced who she is—and what’s expected of her. She’s ready to take on whatever her destiny puts in her path. But at the same time, another power rises with a plan of its own. A plan that will have worldwide ramifications. A plan that Laney won’t see coming until it’s too late. A plan that will lead to Laney’s undoing.

This book started well enough. Not great but okay. But sadly it sent downhill from there. As usual Laney is pursuing her combat against the evil forces but in this book a lot of time is spent on Laney hiding from dumbass media jerks. The more the book progresses the more said dumbasses takes over the story and att towards the end the story deteriorates when the unbelievable assholes in various governments seems to take previously mentioned dumbass media and what they, falsely, claim as the truth of the day. What the f…?
The book does have an underlying story apart from the media circus but it gets overshadowed by these despicable journalists, a lot of brooding and sulking from the main characters and a ridiculous sentiment of not using the best means at their disposal, in particular the computer wiz kid, because they want to protect the children.
Laney saves the day, and quite possibly the world, as usual but receives little gratitude. Quite to the contrary some unusually dense governments seems to base their actions on unfounded gossip and insinuations from ludicrous TV-shows who any half intelligent person would now are unreliable at best and are only concerned about the viewer ratings.
The last straw was when letal force was, apparently, authorized against Laney based entirely on previously mentioned totally baseless insinuations. This is not only ludicrous but totally unbelievable and pretty much ruined the book for me.
This was probably the worst book in the series as far as I am concerned. It has a story worthy of a B-class movie or TV-show.
I am grateful for two things. The first is that having found this series after so many installments have been launched thereby letting me keep a constant flow of stories to follow. It would be an anxious wait if I had to wait for new publications to drop. Seconfly, "thank heavens for retirement," which allows an abundant amount of time to chase after these stories. If I were still working, there would be no time left to sleep. Thank you for filling my days with such great adventures!
Being interested in legends, folklore, and a Biblical scholar, I am fascinated by the characters and ideas Brady has used. I've learned a few things and love the cats. I am blazing my way through all 14 of the books. I just finished Belial Guard and am downloading the next one for tonight's read. One caution to Ms Brady: the Book of Revelation or the Revelation to John DOES NOT have an 'S' at the end. It's a common mistake but not one I expected to see from this author. Other than that, her books are making for an entertaining few weeks. I look forward to reading her other offerings.
Don't know what I will do when I finish reading this series
I love is series and I love all the characters. These are the best books I have read in years. What a find! They really do take me away and I certainly enjoy the journey every time. I find that the research on facts in the telling of the story, makes these stories seem even more real and unbelievable. If you enjoy being excited in reading a really interesting read you will enjoy the journey.
I still enjoy this series, but I was a bit frustrated by the number of editing errors in the Kindle version, most of which were simply careless. But the story itself and developing of the characters was quite exciting.
This series just gets better and better and expands it's scope with each new novel. I try not to read them too quickly because I want to enjoy all of it. Most times I fail and binge it. Looking for ward tp #9.
Even though the story in this chapter wasn't the greatest, the author rough time forward how quickly human behaviour can change. How quick we forget those who helped us and turn on them.
There was a lot of action in this installment. There were also some heartbreaking moments that I was not expecting. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
The Belial Guard did not disapoint at all, it's well paced and fun to read, like whole series is. However I could live without characters' description at the beginning of each book. I mean it's 8th book in the series, everyone knows the main chars by now. But that's just a minor detail, otherwise it's a good edition to the series and the cliffhanger at the end... at least it's only four months before next book will be released ;-)
There's one other thing that needs to be said. This might be related only to the kindle edition, but at the moment the editor did very poor job with the book's correction. Quite often there are whole words missing, sometimes there are obviously wrong words so the sentence doesn't make sense etc. I realize this is not problem of the author but the publisher and it's not so big a deal, but still.
Good versus evil but evil has no ethics or morals as Laney has learned.
Once again Laney faces seemingly insurmountable odds in trying to prevent evil from bringing about the end of days. Planet's compassion for humankind is manipulated and used against her. Media is manipulated and used to make it seem that Laney is a serial killer of mass proportions. Nations and every security agency possible wants the ringleader's death. Then, an unexpected ally keeps her from certain death and promises to help her prepare for the coming war .... the ultimate confrontation with evil. Waiting anxiously for The Belial Warrier which continues this story.
Delaney McPhearson is at it again! She and her compatriots at the Chandler Group are busy chasing "fallen angels" from Hawaii to the Middle East, and a lot of points in between. The battle for control of the human race is heating up. Isolated incidents are becoming more frequent and the body count is skyrocketing. Delaney is now facing two groups with radically different agendas, but with the same goal--complete control of every human on earth. As the battle rages, she gets help from an unexpected source, but will it be enough? Only time will tell.
As always I found myself reading on even when I knew that I should put the book down to do other things. My only criticism is that I found lots of places where the wrong word was in a sentence and I had to stop and reread to understand what was being e. A good proofreader would help. I will anxiously await Belial Warrior in the fall.
I have enjoyed all of the books in this series. I look for long books or a series because I hate the end of a good book. I can not wait for the next book. The characters are outstanding and I feel like I know them.
So please hurry up and get the next one out. I anxiously await the next installment of this series of familiar characters.
I've read different series of books before and after the first few they seem to become predictable. Not so with this series. I'm continually amazed and the fresh angles she keeps bring to each book. And hate having to wait so long to see what's going to happen next.
This story is more set up for the next book than anything else. If you're a fan of the series, this a fun read. However, it will leave you wanting the next book to come out in a hurry. The next book should be fun.
RD Brady cannot churn these out fast enough for me. A great series where you end up loving and caring about the characters. Can't wait till the next one in the fall. Start with the first book if you want a wonderful experience.
