A year ago Mia Andrews left her hometown looking for a fresh start from her abusive past. Her life was back on track and she loved her new job as an ER nurse in Tampa. But just when she thought life had thrown her enough curve balls, she stumbles over Kade Marshall in the ER, looking sexy as sin and everything she has ever wanted. He used to be her best friend before life got in the way and pulled them apart. They were attached at the hip once upon a time and she can't wait to reconnect, secretly hoping for more than friendship this time around.
So when fate throws them back together again, who is she to say no? And when he looks at her with the same fiery passion and desire? Mia has no problem jumping back into his life and finally letting go of her traumatic past. But just when things seem perfect, the past comes back to haunt her. Can she have her happily ever after, or will it all be ripped away? Not if Kade has anything to say about it.
Mia has the strength to survive. She found the strength to leave. Now we see if she has the strength to live.
Life isn't always easy. With an abusive past, finding yourself can be hard, living again can be daunting, but Mia's friends and family are there to help. The biggest surprise of all- reconnecting with her old crush and former best friend.
Looks like living got a whole lot more fun!
It's a cute story. I enjoy the friends to lovers type. Dark Shadow has a demanding alpha rocker and former military badass.

Fresh out of an abusive relationship, Mia moves to Florida with her friend Lexi. While trying to get her life back together she runs into Kade at the local ER where she is a nurse. She and Kade go way back. They were best friends in high school who lost touch after Mia's ex, Michael didn't want them to be friends. Now with Michael out of the picture, Mia and Kade could reconnect. Could their new found love survive their past? Kade promised her it would be EPIC.
I absolutely loved this book! It is definitely a 5 Star read, go one click now! Phelps has written such strong angsty characters. I only put this book down when I had to adult (stuff like work and cleaning and cooking). I love it when people reconnect after losing touch. It melts my heart. Fate brought them back together for a reason.
Very good book. Characters are well developed, easy to identify with and to care about. Plot well defined. Leads reader to think of several possible scenarios for the ending. This makes it hard to put down. Look forward to more stories involving these characters.
Steamy - Fifty Shades of Gray-ish. Plot is interesting - main character is an ER nurse, and the characters are engaging. Written by one of my previous nursing colleagues.
