Skeleton Key Book Series One Skeleton Key. Endless Adventures. https://skeletonkeybookseries.com
During a high end job, thief Emma Watson gets unwittingly trapped "on the job" after a tripped alarm locks her in a vault. When she finds a skeleton key, a mysterious door appears at the back of the room. The key fits, but instead of finding freedom on the other side, she finds herself in an unfamiliar world where the only two species, witches and wolves, are at war. When she is caught in the magical crossfire, a gorgeous wolf shifter, Keir D'San, rescues her. But when she begins to manifest magic, it sets her on a dangerous path that may lose her the only man she's ever wanted to love.
Keir has spent his entire life fighting witches. When he comes upon a spirited woman in the middle of another battle with his bitter enemy who is neither a witch nor a wolf, he rescues her. Their chemistry is instant and their attraction explosive. But when Emma begins to turn into the enemy, Keir has to choose between his clan or the woman he knows is his true mate.
About Renee: USA Today Bestselling author Renee George writes paranormal mysteries and romances because she loves all things whodunit, Otherworldly, and weird. Also, she wishes her pittie, the adorable Kona Princess Warrior, and her beagle, Josie the Incontinent Princess, could talk. Or at least be more like Scooby-Doo and help her unmask villains at the haunted house up the street.
When she’s not writing about mystery-solving werecougars or the adventures of a hapless psychic living among shapeshifters, she is preyed upon by stray kittens who end up living in her house because she can't say no to those sweet, furry faces. (Someone stop telling them where she lives!)
She resides in Mid-Missouri with her family and spends her non-writing time doing really cool stuff...like watching TV and cleaning up dog poop.
Author Note: For readers who have enjoyed reading my books and taken the time to share their love in reviews, thank you so much! I can't tell you how much it means to me to know my work is valued.
I have to confess I bought this book a long time ago and just now got around to reading it. I'm trying to read some of my very large kindle tbr pile and this one is just perfect for the season.
We meet Emma Watson as she attends an event by the very wealthy Lucinda Mowry, she's going to steal some documents from Lucinda's vault for her current client. Her boss Mike is her partner for this but neither of them could anticipate what happens next.
Somehow a trip isn't disabled and Emma is trapped in the vault. Seeking a way out she opens a box to find a key the head of which looks like a spider and then a door appears at the back of the vault. With no alternative she opens the door into a conflict she doesn't understand with some sort of electric lightning.
She's hit by a strike and has to run toward the people she was trying to avoid. One of them shoves her behind and tells her to hide but she ends up knocking herself out.
Keir D'San of the San Fe Sang tribe evaluated the woman, she was neither witch nor wolf, he pushed her behind him instructing her to run and hide as he turned to his wolf form to fight the threat coming for them.
I couldn't help myself from laughing as Emma tries to rationalize where she is. There is nothing that even slightly resembles where she was. Keir the 'Alpha' doesn't understand any of what she's saying it's all foreign to him. The modern world doesn't exist here.
When Keir leaves her to attend to other business Emma leaves what she believes is her prison. Of course Keir is going to follow, he believes she is his mate.
Aerina, the Witch Queen is waiting for someone, I'm guessing Emma, but we don't know for sure at this point.
There are traitors in both camps, which is apparent since Aerina doesn't seem to know there are battles going on, and Keir has already questioned his witch prisoner but didn't get the name.
Now he's hiding out with Emma who is his mate and she's starting to exhibit powers she didn't have before.
A sensuous, intriguing book with plenty of sizzle.
Amazing fast n furious read and wow the good guys! Hotties galore!!! Wolfkind, witches and a new hybrid! Walk in safes are so not safe! Walk in, trigger trap, door closes and while looking for a way out finds door to a whole new world! No Aladdin here! I love the world building and this looks to be the start of a great new series! Keir is a bad ass wolf shifter, leader and head hottie. Emma is the newbie to this world. Lots of bad guys, enemies, some good guys and a lot of people stuck in the middle. Reading the story makes ya wonder if Mike was in on the deal from the get go...like a protector in the human realm? hmmm ... the pieces of story fall together so smoothly and love at first sight/feel is always a good beginning. Keir sounds like a great guy/leader, Tol makes a great second and you feel sorry for Thad in the end. The ladies are not so nice to Emma and Amile is a bad wolf. Keir n Emma have quite the adventure while trying to figure out who the traitor is and figuring out what they are going to do. Mating makes things a lil bit more difficult but love triumphs and they get to meet mom and find out the how things came to be and all ends HEA! Hoping this leads to more stories in this world! I received this book as an ARC in exchange for a review. Thank you for the opportunity Ms. George!
Emma is a thief. She is sent to an art collectors home to steal some papers and gets locked into the vault. She looks through a box and finds a mysterious key. This key makes a door in the back wall. Emma is getting short on air, she thinks this might be her imagination but...what does she have to lose? She steps through the door and finds she is in another world. There are people who look like people but transform into giant wolves! She meets Keir, the leader or Alpha of the wolves. He is a handsome man that attracts her. He is attracted as well and know that this is his mating call. Emma cannot believe that werewolves are real. She cannot also imagine a world of magic. How is she to navigate in this world? Can she trust Keir? I like all of Renee George's books. If you are looking for a fun and entertaining book get this one. Kick ass women, handsome alpha men , intriguing story and a bit of a mystery. Fun characters, great dialog and a good story is what you get with a Renee George book.
Emma is a thief. When she went to do this heist, little did she know or expect that she will end up in a completely different world. This is a standalone story that in my opinion should form the basis of a whole series! There are so many characters left to explore and we are all left wondering as to what happened to them and what they are up to now. Great story that had an interesting concept where the shifters and witches do now know or understand the existence of humans. Definitely recommend this quick read.
This book had so much potential I’m not sure why it was only a novella. With so many avenues to explore and characters to develop I felt it sold itself short by being a novella and not expanding as much as it could. The characters where cool and the writing style is engrossing. I was disappointed that it rushed through the story especially towards the end. A great writer and story with great potential I guess I’ll read the series and get my shifter fix
and lead us to the end. Here, with you, I feel like I’m home. Me too. This can’t last, can it? Yes, we’ll find a way. WITCHES & WOLVES & MAGIC OH MY MY MY!! WOW! What a MAGICTACULAR story! This is the first I have even heard of the Skeleton Key Series, but after reading this BAD ASK story, I am eager to read the others, even though I know they can't possibly compare to Renee's!! wink The beauty, the magic & romance meld perfectly together to create this WOLFTASTIC story that had me intrigued from the start! But when you add in everything else - humor, hotness, mysteries, surprises, shifters, witches, magic, friends, family, mates and one MAJOR ending of all endings, well, this becomes one WITCHMATERRIFIC book that held me captive in its arms from the FURRY beginning until long after I finished reading it for the second time! Yes, you read that right... I DID read it twice! I am in love with how hilarious, magical and MAGNIFIWOLF this story is! The creativity levels are off the charts as are the ones I use to define how much I love it all! It is ABSO-EFFEN-LUTELY SHIFTACULAR!! Renee is one FURNOMENAL author who never ceases to amaze, astound and blow me away with her FURLICIOUS characters & their Happily Ever After tails! Even though I discovered Renee & her AWESOME stories more than 2 years ago, and I have read at least 3/4 of them, I am STILL blown away with every single book! The love & care that she puts into her stories gives them the depth & enrichment that has me connecting with the characters, that transports me into her stories where I can live & experience everything both alongside and AS her characters! I honestly love just how much Renee has grown as an author! The first stories of hers I ever read were great, but very short. Reading her MM shorts gave me a connection to her characters, had me hoping for more because they were so well written that you felt the characters connection to each other, thrilled when they found love with each other. I also believe that Renee not only has grown as an author, but also with self-confidence too. I can see & feel it with every new story of hers I read, because it makes the story explode to life in my mind's eye, it draws me in to the stories deeper than before and my connection to the characters is more like I AM the characters, seeing, hearing, feeling EVERYTHING with and AS them! Reading Renee's books not only distracts me from the physical pain I live with all the time, but they take me away from it completely! That does not happen with every book I read, and very rarely with the levels that Renee's books do! Renee George is that rare author who is blessed with both magnificent talent, a genuine gift and the power to wield them both together into one extraordinary book, time and again!!
**You can see this full review and more at Book Briefs: https://bookbriefs.net**Witchmate is part of the Skeleton Key book series. I really love the set up of this series. It is a group of almost 30 authors, each one writing a book featuring a skeleton key that unlocks a secret world. But all of the books are vastly different. Different themes, different age groups and different sub genres. I just love that idea. So whether you like young adult, new adult or adult, you will be able to find a book for you. If you want to know more information about the series you can check out the website dedicated to the books.
Witchmate is up there as one of my favorite of the books I have read so far in the Skeleton Key series. I loved the set up of the series. Emma, the main character, is trying to pull off an art heist, when she gets locked into this vault and finds the skeleton key. It was a very exciting start to the story. And then, hello, what is there not to like. Shifters and witches fighting. Umm yes, please sign me up! Witchmate clocks in at about 140 pages, which puts it right in between a novella and novel, in my opinion. I liked it more than the novellas in the series that I have read and I think a little bit less than I enjoyed The Azure Kingdom by Michelle Dare. But perhaps that is only because that book was longer, and I wanted more of Emma's story. I really enjoyed Witchmate, and I can't wait to read more by Renee George because of it. This was the first book that I have read by her, and I have to say it has intrigued me to add her to my author watch list.
I loved Keir and Emma. I enjoyed the set up of the world too. It was a very fast paced story because the world is in the middle of a huge war between the wolves and the witches. Emma was an interesting twist in the whole thing. I really enjoyed this one. An unpected benefit to reading the Skeleton Key series is that it is introducing me to a lot of new authors that I have not previous read before. And I am finding some authors that I am really excited to read more from. Renee George is one of those authors. Thus far, I have been really impressed with the variety in these stories. And the covers. I love the key that is present on all of them, but other than that they are all very different, but at the same time they are very well done and fit very well together. I can't wait to see what I think of the other books in the series.
This is a very interesting story with a lot of surprises. Emma was raised by a thief and thinks she is doing a very well-planned job when everything goes really odd. She ends up leaving the vault and in the middle of the woods. The woods bring her to a new world and she meets shifters who aren't sure what to make of her. The shifters are at war with the witches and she does not appear to be a witch. Keir is the leader of the shifters and he feels a strong connection to this strange woman. He brings her back to his camp.
I enjoyed the story very much and the characters are very well written. Emma has had to be strong to survive her childhood in foster care and then being with a thief who trained her to steal. She gets plenty of surprises when she enters this new world and is not sure what to make of it. Keir is a strong leader. He is compassionate and fair. He has led his people into battle and works hard to protect them. He did not expect to find a woman like Emma to be his mate. When she appears to have magic and be his enemy, he has to make a difficult choice.
There is a lot going on in this story and the author does a great job of presenting the information without overwhelming the reader. I look forward to reading more stories featuring the characters.
Just when you think you are about to pull off your most valuable heist yet things are about to change. Locked in a room with the last of the air almost gone Emma has one chance to unlock her future. What a future that turns out to be.
Ms. George has created a world of witches and wolves, enemies and well...enemies. Emma has landed in a forest and learns very quickly it is not safe. Thinking she must be having a reaction to the lack of air, it takes time and a very hot guy to bring her around. Keir--said hot guy--is the alpha leader and very drawn to Emma, even though there are plenty of reasons not to trust her.
This story is filled with new awakenings, forbidden love, loyalty (and disloyalty) wars and hidden secrets. It is touching, often funny, sad and filled with an array of emotions and mysteries. Although not usually a huge fan of witch stories, I knew anything written by Renee George would be good--and this is really good. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters, story line and the ending...well, with two warring species, forbidden lovers, learning to exist in a new land, choosing love or leader responsibility you'll need to see how this will end. Just a hint, it is a love story.
Wowzer was excited to get to read another novel in this series. Since it consists of different authors it is fast pace by the looks of it how often they come out making it also it would seem always fresh but with a skeleton key it seems to opens to different magical worlds for us readers. This one is a hum dinger Emma goes to do one thing not that it is a nice thing but then finds herself in another world. Original I do say though this writing of this one intrigued with only two species but then of course they are at war with each other. Yummy shifter Keir does the honorable thing but then they both find themselves trapped in love. Emma is a character that was most entertaining and intriguing which I hardly ever find females for me that is the relateable because I adore the guys usually. Drama will unfold ensnaring the reader with these two along their adventure thanks to that key but you will be brought to the edge because of the decisions that will be faced. Caution hot to handle romance though that gloves could be required.
This is the first in a brand new series by author Renee George and it is terrific! Ms. George has created a magical realm where there are only two types of people, a witch or a werewolf. The two sides have been at wor for over 100 years with traitors on both sides. When Emma a jperson who is neither witch or wolf suddenly appears in this world things tke an interesting turn.
This book quickly grabbed my attention and kept me on the edge of my seat, I had to know what was going to happen next! The author does such a wonderful job of setting the scene I felt as though I were there with the characters. There is plenty of suspense and edge of your seat action as well as romance. I can't wait to read what comes next!
I received a copy of this manuscript from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Emma Watson was hired to do a job, steal some papers in a rich women's vault. When she finds herself trapped and the only way out is mysterious door way and crystal skeleton key. Entering she finds herself in another place we're witches and wolf shifters are not only real but their also in a war. From the moment Keir sees the young woman he feels the pull. She is his mate but who is she and WHAT is she? Their chemistry is explosive and emma just can't understand the pull or that she is really not on her earth anymore. I love the amazing action and fantastic characters in this story, what a fun read. So full of mystery, you have got to get this one. Book given for an honest review and I honestly loved it.

I just love the Skeleton Key series (which consists of over 20 books written by different authors) following the theme of a key that opens a magical door to another world.
Witchmate had me at the first page; knowing the format I couldn't wait to see how Emma found her door and the lead up didn't disappoint. I don't want to say anything about what happens after the door; it will ruin the story, just know it's worth reading and thoroughly enjoyable.
Unlike some of the other Skeleton Key books this one does contain adult themes so I wouldn't give it to your young adult to read unless they are mature enough to deal with sexually explicit content.
Witchmate swept in and took me by surprise as much as it did Emma. She is on a routine grab for her boss. That’s when Emma finds herself at the mercy of Keir. Keir is hawt, strong, and knows that he wants Emma. I was pleased to follow along with the tale and learn about Keir’s world. The political fighting and intrigue definitely kept the story moving. There were the plots and then the subplots against the plots. There were many characters that were part of Witchmate. I could easily see a few of them being expanded into their own future stories. All of this packed in a quick and fun read.
This was an interesting story of witches & wolves. Emma is a their and was sent to steal documents but she gets trapped and instead of the documents she finds a skeleton key and a door appears. Seeing no way out she uses the door and is transported to another realm. Kier sees Emma and is not sure what she is but feels something strong towards Emma. The witches & wolves have been in a never ending war and there is a traitor amongst the wolves. Can Emma be the key for the witches & wolves to finally exist together again?

This book was so intriguing! My interest was immediately piqued when it stars out with Emma trying to pull a sophisticated robbery off at a high class party. Then, she's transported right into the middle of a battle between werewolves and witches on another world/dimension. The action is non-stop and the emotions run high Keir and Emma struggle with their forbidden feelings for each other. I absolutely loved this book and can't wait to see if the author extends the story into a full length book!
Another amazing selection from the skeleton key series! Deep mysteries and lots of action fly across this seamless book! The imagination and creativity of this writer captured my attention quickly, and I was spellbound until it's completion! Our two main characters are drawn to each other yet being able to have a future looks bleak. The secrets of their ancestors would have to be unlocked before any answers for their future could be found. The perfect book for the PNR lover! My copy was obtained via KU.
This is a good one with a lot of action. Pair that with backstabbers and spies on both sides of the warring witches and werewolves, and this book is a good page-turner. I love the idea that Emma is a master thief in the normal world that was brought up in foster care. It allows a plausible reason to the secret twist of who she is and why she is important. Plus, Keir is a hot alpha wolf shifter, so what's not to love?
I received this from the author in exchange for an honest review. We have a thief who is literally sucked into another world. This was a great short story. I enjoyed it a lot. The world the author created was amazing. I will definitely be looking for more in this series. The only thing I did not enjoy was there were way to many names thrown around. It made it hard to follow at some parts.
This is the fourth book I have read in the skeleton key series and I have loved them all. This one has sexy wolves' and witches, and plenty of emotions. There is also some funny snark to get you through in this great read. I have never read a book from this author before this series, but i really enjoyed her writing. What a interesting read. Definitely not what I was expecting it was jam packed with lots of action suspense and betrayal. It has everything to keep you entertained from beginning to end. Overall a good read. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
I wasn't sure I cared for this one until about the middle of the book. You could say it grew on me lol. Full of drama and excitement for sure, as well as a sexy beast of a warrior. Great use of the key!!!
