Deep Into Trouble the 3rd book in the Unbroken Heroes series and the 2nd book I have read of the series was a pretty good read. I liked our hero Saxon but not as much as I like his brother Vitus the hero from the last book. I felt I didn't get to know Saxon as well. He was very closed off and professional for most of the book. I liked Ginger a lot. I thought she was fun, spunky, and brave. I thought Saxon and Ginger had some great lust and major heat but I didn't really feel the love. I liked the action in this book and I liked getting to know the other members for the team a little better too. I loved getting to catch up a little bit with Vitus. The bad guys Tyler and Carl Gawd I really hate those two jerks and can't wait for them to get their comeuppance Overall it was an entertaining read and I will continue with the series!
This book is action packed and the writing does it credit. Ginger is a librarian on a mission to be more adventurous and boy does she get it! Saxon is hella sexy and there's this instant attraction between them that sizzles. Though they meet under circumstances of rescue, they are able to build and develop what was sparked by their initial interest. I liked them together but also liked them as individuals.
The plot was fast paced but compelling and I don't feel anything was lost in the process. This is not always easy to achieve in this sub-genre where details might be sacrificed to move the story forward. The writing and prose was strong. All in all an enjoyable read. Safety: No others for either.
Great addition to this series. Saxon and Ginger are great together. She's not afraid of his job and willing to give her all. Lots of action, suspense, drama and great sex. Loved seeing his brother again and some of the other peeps from previous books. I'm done with Tyler, and someone needs to blow his head off. Looks like Bram is up next, but Thais isn't going to wind up with who I thought. Hhhmmm
The third book in Dawn Ryder’s Unbroken Heroes series, finally gives us Saxon Hale’s Story. If you haven’t read the previous two books I would highly recommend you do before you start Deep Into Trouble as this isn’t a book you will understand otherwise.
Just like the previous books, there is a huge amount of story going on with numerous POV’s, as well as dozens of characters some known and some new additions in the telling of this particular part of the story.
He couldn’t get personal with her, she was his witness…
Although enjoyable this is my least favourite of the series so far, but I only have one gripe really, in that I never really felt any connection between Saxon and Ginger until the very latter stages of the book, yes the sexy-times between them were hot, Dawn writes that really well, but together outside of that I really didn’t feel anything from them as a couple, they sort of went from zero to sixty without any real reasoning as to why initially.
"Think before you lie to me, Saxon Hale… No man crosses that line in my book."
Saxon has been a dark, secretive and brooding character throughout the story so far, and with the case against the elusive Raven and presidential nominee Carl Davis becoming more twisted, the last thing he is really looking to deal with is a witness that was in the wrong place, albeit at the right time in relation to his investigation, especially if said witness pulls all-sorts of emotions from him that he in the past has never really felt.
"I’m not a nice guy… There isn’t anything for you in my world except danger. You believe in happy-ever-afters, honey. They don’t exist in my world… I’m no good for you."
Ginger wasn’t afraid to stand up to our alpha hero in this respect, and I liked her sass with him on that front, Mr. Hale isn’t one used to anyone, especially women answering him back and questioning his actions. And around their fleeing the bad guys, things get more complex between Carl, turncoat Tyler Martin and Saxon’s boss, Kagan. Again I reiterate, you really need to read the previous books to understand what happens in this installment.
"You bring out the best in me."
As with all great Romantic Suspense series, while some questions are answered, others are raised, and more revelations are tossed into the mix, and I am looking forward to seeing which direction the fourth book; Take to the Limit (due for release in August) goes in relation to things that were revealed in the end stages of this story.
I also hope that the finished book is fully edited/spell-checked before publication as well, because there were a number of wrongly used words in the ARC, one had me chuckling for quite a while, when instead of resting her weight on her elbows, she used her eyebrows if true I think Ginger has huge potential as a circus performer in future books!
ARC generously provided via Netgalley, in exchange for the above honest review.
You really have to have a love of action and suspense to enjoy this book. From the first chapter on, the story took off. There is a lot going on and quite a few characters to keep up with. This is the third in the series, so there is reference to actions taken in previous books.
Despite starting in the middle of the story, I was able to keep up and still enjoy the chase we are lead on when Saxon takes Ginger and runs with his team. They are trying to keep her alive after witnessing a murder committed by a crime boss who is suppose to be dead.
This book ends with little pieces meant to get you ready for the next book in the series. I would recommend reading the books in order. While I enjoyed this book and the main characters, I didn't have enough knowledge of the other characters that could have made this book even more exciting to read if I had their background. ARC provided by NetGalley.
"Fire is base, baby. Play with it and you're going to get the animal."
Deep into Trouble started off with a bang and didn't slow down one bit. It was adrenaline fueled and packed with danger but also enough heat to scorch your Kindle!
Ginger was just at the wrong place at the wrong time - that's how she finds herself dodging bullets and running for her life down the back alleys of New Orleans with sexy Shadow Ops agent, Saxon Hale.
Locked inside of him was something very rare, the code of a gentleman. One that gave true meaning to the word honor.
Saxon's life's been dedicated to catching the bad guys and never getting emotional attached to anyone. Ginger was supposed to be just another asset but her sass and steel backbone stirs a dominate protective and possessive side of him that he can't control.
There was a little curve to her lips that matched the excitement shimmering in her eyes. Hell, the look on her face darn near took five years off his life because one good long look and he almost believed in happiness again.
This was a sexy read with two great MCs and I had fun reading it. I loved the sexual tension, the explosive chemistry and the instant pull of lust and love. The whirlwind marriage was spontaneous and I'm a sucker for marriages of convenience and this had that with a modern twist to it. The supporting characters were intriguing, the revolving POVs flowed smoothly and kept the story's pace fast and engaging.
I would definitely say this is insta-love since they literally spend a handful of days together. Time wise it was super fast but emotionally I felt their bond and I was swept away in the moment. I really did love them together as a couple. They were a perfect match!
Safety: There was no cheating, OM/OW drama or long separations. Does have a HEA and ends with an 8 months later epilogue and a baby bump! I love epilogues but babies are the cherry on top Lol!
Deep Into Trouble 'Deep Into Trouble' by Dawn Ryder is book Three in the "Unbroken Heroes" series. This is the story of Saxon and Ginger. I have not yet read the other two books so for me this was a standalone book. Ginger is a self proclaimed 'nosy person' which has lead her into become a librarian and research person. It has also lead her into trouble where she witnessed a murder that she is now being hunted by the murders to take her out. Saxon loves the thrill of the hunt and is in New Orleans on a mission that is leading him t take down Raven. But Ginger walks into his mission and now he is having to keep her safe. But Saxon is also having strong feelings for her and she for him. Ginger was a hoot! I loved how she made Saxon feel and how he changed some around her. This book had the excitement, some humor and a great main characters that I feel in love with!"My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/1...https://www.amazon.com/gp/profile/A2H...https://romancebookreviewforyou.wordp...https://www.tumblr.com/blog/romancebo...
Deep Into Trouble was an addictive and fun read! I haven't read the previous books in this series, but I wish I would have read them before I read this book. I had a little bit of a hard time remembering who was who and understanding some of the backstories. However, it wasn't hard to jump into this book and understand the basics of this book.
The suspense in this book kept me on my toes the entire time. I loved how I never felt like the characters were truly safe. There seemed to be danger around ever corner, which is what kept me really invested in this book. I thought the author did a great job at keeping the plot of the book fast-paced and full of action.
The romance was sexy and full of steam. I thought the characters had a lot of chemistry that lead to moments that made me want to fan myself off! I thought they made a really hot couple! However, their relationship developed a bit too quickly for my taste. It felt like insta-love to me, so I couldn't really buy their emotional connection. I still like Saxon and Ginger as a couple, but I wish it would have been a slower burn.
The main female character, Ginger, was a great character. I loved the fact that she was a librarian and liked to read because I could really connect to her on that regard. It was so relatable and actually humorous to see an average girl get thrown into the action-packed scenarios that Ginger found herself in. However, Ginger was strong and determined to get out of those situations, which made me root for her even more.
The changing of POVs made some parts of this book hard to follow, which took me out of the story a few times because I couldn't figure out who was narrating. I wish the POVs would have been more consistent because it would have made this book easier to understand.
Overall, this was a sexy and suspenseful read. I would recommend this book to people who are looking for a steamy and action-packed book!
As an avid watcher of world politics, this story is too on the nose for me, Otherwise, A+ for a really intriguing and engrossing plot! DEEP INTO TROUBLE is filled with action and intrigue, just the way I love it and was so much fun to read even though I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I've had this series on my TBR for a while but started with this book and while it wasn't an issue for me to follow the story, I had lots of questions that I think the previous books will answer, so I'll recommend starting from the beginning if you really want to enjoy the series.
I don't do horror anything but imagine watching a horror movie and seeing the blonde (why is it always a blonde?) go down the basement stairs instead of running away, knowing that the end is nigh and yelling into the void? That is exactly how I felt in the opening of this book.
Ginger Boyce is exactly what you expect a librarian to be, at least on the outside. Underneath that buttoned up facade is a fiery bundle of energy chomping at the bit to get out and where else could she be tempted to let down her hair than while on vacation in sultry New Orleans? But Ginger might have bitten off more than she can chew because her walk on the wild side just landed her in the middle of a federal investigation as the eye witness to a crime and the only person who can identify a mob boss who has eluded the authorities for about a decade. Which means Ginger has just become a liability with a hefty price on her head and only one person stands between her and certain death.
Saxon Hale is determined to keep Ginger alive for many reasons and his feelings for her are at the top of that list. But even he has no idea of the power and reach of the enemy they are dealing with and he'll need his wits, skills and all the help he can get to keep Ginger alive.
I enjoyed Ginger's sass a lot and like that even though she was scared out of her mind, she didn't curl up and become helpless, but was invested in her own safety and I also liked that she stood up to Saxon when needed. I guess the previous book will give a better idea of who Saxon really is, but I liked that he was flexible and willing to work with Ginger and that he respected her ability to keep a cool head.
I liked the instant attraction between Ginger and Saxon and imagine that the dangerous circumstances heightened the emotions they were feeling and the time they spent together strengthened their bond and made them an interesting couple, but I found it a bit inappropriate that with the hounds of hell nipping at their heels, they found so much spare time for all that nookie.
Before now, I would have brushed off this amount of political intrigue as hyperbolic but now it seems to be business as usual. If you love political and action thrillers or mysteries, this book and probably the entire series is definitely one you don't want to miss.
Disclaimer: I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book. All opinions stated are solely mine.
Another story I struggled to get through. There were flow issues, pieces missing, inconsistencies and lots of repetitive words and phrases. We get to read about Saxon’s knuckles turning white frequently. Lots of lip twitching on almost all the men in the story, including the villains.
SPOILERS IN REVIEW
Saxon and Ginger fell too quickly. The initial sighting of the other and their reactions to each other under the circumstances just didn’t feel believable/realistic to me. Ginger stumbles onto someone being executed and tries to run from the scene only to literally run into Saxon. He whisks her away to safety and the games begin.
Ginger is a librarian by day but works with the CPS on the side. Her biggest assets are that she notices all the details, picks up subtleties and connects the dots quickly.
Saxon is married to his job. He has a list of friends with benefits and doesn’t want a relationship. He nonchalantly tells her he’s been sterilized because using sex to get information is part of the job. Seriously?! For as adamant as he was about not getting involved, he didn’t push too hard against falling into a relationship with her. And marrying her just to keep them from harms way until his team arrived? Yeah, that didn’t work for me either.
Lots of unusual names…Saxon, Vitus, Bram, Dunn, Kagan, Pulse, Athene. Loved DDS…death due to stupidity.
This is my first book in this series and by this author. Reading the stories in order might have made this flow better. Maybe. Not really inspired to go back or continue. It is a continuing story as Tyler is still on the loose.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC provided by NetGalley.
Loved it! This story is Saxon's story and how he gets blown away by a sassy librarian who happens to glide right into the middle of his mission and witness not on the Raven's identity but the murder of a man.
Ginger is a librarian who also works for the state and loves finding information on people. She also likes to shed that librarian persona and the clothes that go with it enjoy a little wild side now and again. This time it's in New Orleans when she goes to take a signed book to a stripper and ends up in the wrong place and the worst time. Unless you account for Saxon Hale and his reaction to her.
After a hit is put out on Ginger it is Saxon's teams job to protect her and get her to the courthouse to testify about what she's seen. She is sassy to him and makes him smile, she takes the worst with a better attitude than anyone ever expects and when they are being pursued and they slip into a wedding chapel that might just be the thing that makes them look at each other differently. The question is can they get out of it alive since the hit man is outside the door?
This is a continuation of this series and is great. If you haven't read the others I recommend you do so in order to have the background. I cannot wait for the next one.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Kindly provided with an ARC via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review......
Loved it !!!. This was Saxon and Ginger's story and was jam packed with high intensity and thrills. From the beginning to end you are routed to the plot, eating up the pages.
I enjoyed reading Saxon and Gingers characters and their development. Saxon is a full on action and danger guy, whilst Ginger is little Miss Safety.......until she crosses paths with Saxon......then things get EXPLOSIVE !!!!
A really great read !. Well done Dawn and many thanks for this opportunity x
Romantic suspense is a hard sub-genre to review. If you are too vague, there is no point to the review, but if you are too specific there is no reason to read the book.
So, I am going to try for something in the middle.
Saxon and Ginger were, at first look, an odd match. He is a special forces soldier, she is a librarian. To say they live in different worlds is an understatement. But, it works. The draw they have to one another is compelling, and interesting. And, it is strong enough to make you willing to believe that both of them would have been willing to be involved with the other...even though the situation they found themselves in was one that would make a lot of people run...witnessing a violent crime is rarely the beginning of a romance.
But in this it works.
I enjoyed this book. The writing was strong. The pacing was mostly well constructed, which is important in a romantic suspense...you need to believe the romantic interludes and the danger of the situation. In this case, I thought the balance was a little too much toward the suspense...not enough to keep me from enjoying it, but it did leave me wanting more.
This was a fun book. This is the third book in the series but the first one I have read by this author. I think I would have understood it a bit more had I read the previous book as it was about the MC's brother. That being said I felt ok jumping into the series, nothing seemed too confusing. I have to say there was an abundance of er.... unique... names to be all in one book/series: Vitus, Saxon, Bram, Thais, Dunn, Kagan, Damascas, Athene... and then there was our MC who oddly was just plain Ginger. Shrug.
There was a lot of action in this book which I enjoyed. I liked the characters. They weren't very deep but there was enough info there for me to get a grasp on them. I loved that Ginger was pretty much your average girl, not someone trained to be tough in difficult situations, yet she was certainly no wimp. There was no crying or lamenting her situation. She stayed strong and resilient which made her a good match for Saxon. The match was fast, so yeah some insta-love going on, and I didn't totally feel the connection but they worked well enough together. I got skeeved out when Saxon said he was sterilized because he used seduction as a tool in his undercover ops. Ew. Didn't need to know that. I did love that Saxon had this sweet side that was longing for what his brother had. The action was fun and kept the pace fairly swift. It was a nice moderate sized read.
The side characters were interesting. I definitely want to pick up the previous book about Saxon's brother and the next book with Bram look very interesting. I'm looking forward to that one.

'Deep Into Trouble' by Dawn Ryder is book 3 in the "Unbroken Heroes" series. This is Saxon and Ginger’s story. Ginger is a busybody with a good heart and kind soul. She is a librarian and research person. Her nosiness has lead her into trouble where she witnessed a murder that she is now being hunted by the murders to make sure she is killed since she witnessed the crime. Saxon loves the thrill of the hunt and is in New Orleans on a mission that is leading him to take down Raven. But in the mist of everything, Ginger walks into his mission which fouls everything up and now he is having to protect her from the murders. As he is protecting her, he starts to realize he is falling in love with her and Ginger started developing feelings for Saxon but there are many twists/turns that happen among also, secrets that are being hidden to protect Ginger but still have the power to hurt when the truth is releveled.
This book had everything that I was looking for in my book- action, suspense, thrills, romance , mystery and awesome banter/humor. This is a good book that you will get involved in and once you start reading, you do not want to put this book down.
My rating: 4.4 stars **** "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***

REVIEW: DEEP INTO TROUBLE is the third installment in Dawn Ryder’s contemporary, adult UNBROKEN HEROES romantic, suspense series focusing on an elite Shadow Ops team. This is Navy SEAL Saxon Hale, and librarian/researcher Ginger Boyce’s story line. DEEP INTO TROUBLE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from previous story lines is revealed where necessary although some of premise continues from earlier reads.
Told from several third person perspectives including Saxon and Ginger, DEEP INTO TROUBLE is a story of murder, intrigue, corruption, power and love. Ginger Boyce found herself in the wrong place at the wrong time-a witness to a murder, our heroine is on the run with a man she knows nothing about. Enter Shadow Ops agent Saxon Hale, the man who will protect Ginger with his life, and the man who finds himself falling for the woman who calls to his heart. What ensues is the building relationship between two people whose lives will be tied together-‘for better or for worse-thank you, thank you very much’; the search for a crime boss known as the Raven; and the struggle to stay one step ahead of Washington DC’s power elite.
Once again, political aspirations and the ultimate battle for control are front and center in a story line where one woman is caught in a power struggle with the nations political powerhouse. Saxon’s team of Shadow Ops soldiers can no longer trust the people in charge as their safe houses are compromised within minutes of arrival.
The relationship between Saxon and Ginger is one of immediate attraction but Saxon knows that to get involved with a ‘job’ means placing Ginger in the line of fire. Not only do our couple find themselves saying ‘I do’ but the prospect of a happily ever after may never come to fruition if Saxon and his team cannot protect the woman he loves. The $ex scenes are intimate, intense and seductive without the use of over the top graphic language and text.
Once again, there is a very large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters who play intricate roles throughout the story. Saxon’s brother Vitus returns to help protect his brother and the woman with whom Saxon has fallen in love. We are introduced to team member Captain Bram Magnus whose story will be told next.
DEEP INTO TROUBLE is a fast paced, action packed story of intrigue and power; romance and love; family, friendship and a happily ever after. The premise is addicting; the romance is provocative; the characters are colorful, dynamic and real. DEEP INTO TROUBLE is the perfect read for fans of romantic suspense where the struggle to survive is a battle until the end.
Deep into Trouble by Dawn Ryder Unbroken Heroes #3
At a convention, doing a good deed, having fun – then – suddenly eyewitness to a murder – Ginger Boyce is in trouble. Saxon Hale and his team, on the job in New Orleans looking for The Raven, are there to give Ginger a helping hand because the murder she saw will put away the man they are after. But, nothing is easy in this story. Who is evil and who is not and are there some that straddle the line between good and evil? How does a person know who to trust? Ginger is not your usual ditzy soft heroine but instead a smart, sassy, strong woman who wants to be a help rather than a hindrance. She knows what she wants and is not afraid to go after it. No matter what comes her way, Ginger manages. Saxon and his team are impressed. With assassins, snipers, corrupt politicians, mafia-types, good guys and some that are questionable this turned out to be an interesting read – so interesting that I could not put it down. I had a feeling it was part of a series but not having read the first two books was not a problem. I came away glad that Ginger and Boyce got their HEA and wondering what will happen in book four.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC. This is my honest review.
This was absolutely the best of the series so far! I liked the first two books, but this one had me completely glued to the pages. Ginger was one of my favorite leading ladies in a long time. She was spunky, strong, caring, selfless, and full of light and life. She was everything Saxon needed and the exact opposite of anything he ever thought he wanted. In other words, she was perfect. She steps out of her ordered somewhat supressed life just for a brief moment and that one act has her whole world shifting on its axis. Suddenly she is on the run and Saxon is her lifeline. She knows nothing about him except that he is her only chance for survival.
Saxon feels the chemistry and the pull of attraction between himself and Ginger, but he knows he is nowhere near relationship material. He wants to get her safe and get away as soon as possible. He runs into a snag when they discover an information leak that puts the responsibility for Ginger right back on him and his team. Ginger pulls her own weight and refuses to do any less than face her situation head on. She earns Saxon's respect and much more.
This story does a bit more unraveling of threads from the previous books and also leaves a few trailing out there for the next books. While this could be read as a standalone, I don't recommend it. There is a decent amount of building on the foundation of the other books, plus the first two books really were good and give you time to really get to know Saxon before you read his story.
I was happy to receive an ARC from Net Galley for honest review.
This is my first book and series by Dawn Ryder and I plan to go back and read the other books in this series. Dawn was able to take a dark back story and create light and fun while giving the characters a little realistic sides to them. From first to last page reader will be have white knuckles wondering what will next. The first half is running dodging bullets, the smaller middle is lots of hot sex and the last several chapters will keep the readers hooked. Readers will love the female lead because she is feisty, strong and doesn't back down from a fight. It can be read as a stand alone novel. I did get a little lost every so often but I think that was more due to the tiny humans in my home that wanted me to cook dinner instead of hiding in the bathroom reading this fun, action packed novel. I plan to pick up the first two in the series and keep on reading Dawn Ryder's Unbroken Heroes books. Spoilers: (What happened to her friend in New Orleans? Did her somewhere in the book?)
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy
Saxon is a BAMF who takes charge whenever trouble comes looking for him. In this third book in the series, Saxon is ready to take bad guys apart. This third book can be read as a standalone. It would be better to read the books in the order written.
Ms. Ryder is quickly becoming an author I automatically want to read. For those who enjoy Maya Banks' KGI series, Ms. Ryder is the author for you. In this latest book with the sexy Saxon, there is suspense, betrayal and hot sex. Saxon is the quiet killer who showed up in a previous book. I liked his quiet manner of getting things done. He never really becomes riled up. In this book, as the main character, the readers get to see Saxon all hot and bothered by a sexy librarian. Yes, there is a reason why men have a fantasy about librarians and Ginger Boyce is a sterling example of why.
Ginger seems to be a sweet character who is totally out of her element. She's the shy librarian who goes a little wild for some fun and it comes to bite her big time. Luckily for her, Saxon is there to protect her. Their interactions are funny because Ginger is trying to understand this crazy dangerous spy world whilst Saxon is trying to behave and not rip her clothes off. Of course their sexual chemistry sparks and clothes do end up flying off. These two characters make the story as they are relate-able and fun.
The pace of this story is nice and fast. I liked how we moved through the suspense part with the right amount of tension. I enjoyed the slowdowns with the sexy scenes between Ginger and Saxon. Then when their lives are threatened again, it is go-go-go. Some of the secondary characters who back up Saxon are nice to see again. Overall, this book is a fun ride and recommended for romantic suspense lovers.
~ARC was given by one of the publishing assistant, made available via NetGalley.~
This is a series that I was not aware. Meaning, I do not know the author. So when the invitation came, I was really surprise.
Since I do not judge a book by it's genre, and I try as much as possible to read the POV that I like, I find myself waiting for the next book in this series.
“I’m not in love.” Saxon replied. “And I’m not ever planning on tumbling into that tar pit. You’re welcome to it.” from Dare You to Run.
I can safely say... EAT YOUR WORDS!
Deep Into Trouble IS all about Saxon. If you haven't read about him, you need to read the first book Dangerous to Know. It will you the idea why I am so hyped with this book.
The mighty have fallen, and it was such a fall! The amount of action was good, the lines were better and the way everything was written was so nice. There are times, however, that I hope that the thoughts of the sub characters were not too over present. I enjoy reading Kagan's, Vitus' and Thias thoughts but not the rest. I felt that it was more like an filler, rather than making it more about the main couple. The way this was made was really something. There were times that I cannot fathom how he did it. But man! I do love Saxon!
I had to stop myself from gloating. He was so averse to love that when it bit him, he was the first one to surrender! You need to read the book to realize what I am talking about. It was such a satisfying book.
I stopped myself from reading the preview of the next book. I know it's Bram and I cannot wait for it.
Thank you for the chance to read this author. I was such a pleasure reading this book.
There are times Ginger doesn't mind grabbing life by the balls, well actually they were Saxon's balls, but the metaphor still applies, "...she took the opportunity to reach down and pop open his waist band. A moment later she’d slid her hand inside his pants, seeking out his length. “Trying to get me by my tender parts?” he asked as she succeeded." I really liked some of the reactions Ginger got out of Saxon, "...she offered. “Slept with you, too.” That earned her a grunt before he moved over to their bedding and started rolling it." I really liked this book, all the characters I met on Saxon's team I loved I can't wait for their stories.
This review is based on the ARC provided by the author and/or the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.
4.5
There was a lot of reunion feels at the beginning that made it slower for me to get into. I stepped into the middle of the series, so I expected nothing less. However, this book is clearly able to stand on its own. It definitely sped up after the beginning! It was full of great action and romance.
I received this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.
Another story that had great promise and just fell short. Very insta-lovey. And at inappropriate times. I don't think I'd notice how hot a guy was when I was dodging bullets. Good writing, just not for me.
Deep Into Trouble is a perfect name for the book! Saxon and Ginger's story is high-impact and fast paced. Once you get past the introductions the speed of this book never lets up. This is the perfect romantic suspense! Can't wait to see what happens with Bram.
Deep Into Trouble is the third book in the author's Unbroken Heroes series, and to date, I've only read the opening novel, Dangerous to Know, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Sadly, I wasn't quite as taken by this novel as I was the first, and since I haven't read the second novel in this series, which left me a bit confused about the history of characters appearing in this novel who were introduced in the second one, it took me some time to understand who they were and the roles they played in the lives of the hero and heroine in this novel, and for that reason and several others, I can only give this one a 3.5 star rating.
This novel's hero is Saxon Hale, brother of Vitus who was apparently the hero in book #2, and the heroine is Ginger, a research librarian who is attending a convention in New Orleans, but leaves her hotel to catch and savor a bit of the true flavor of Bourbon Street, and to deliver an autographed copy of a novel to Kitten, a stripper she'd met. She even stops along the way to purchase an outfit more suitable to the climate and culture of Bourbon Street, and then begins her search for Kitten. What she doesn't expect to do is witness a murder, perpetrated by a man known only to the agents in shadow ops as "The Raven", but whom Ginger recognizes as Marc Grog, a man who's been reported to be dead for the past decade. She's now the only person who can identify him, testify against him, and break his underworld connections--and as the only witness to this murder, she's now his primary target. She manages to get away and is rescued by one of agents who have the area under surveillance, Saxon Hale.
This novel starts off like gangbusters and is peopled with a plethora of characters in shadow ops, politics, crime, even a Presidential candidate, all of whom have secrets, and who have no problem double-crossing and even triple-crossing one another. While the majority of the novel centers around trying to keep Ginger alive, there's quite a heated romantic relationship building between Saxon and Ginger, who, it turns out, has a lot more defensive skills than your average small town librarian. While I enjoyed the relationship between the two main characters, there were so many changes of plans, changes of location, and supposed safe refuges, that the novel seemed to get so bogged down in those location changes that it lost much of its forward momentum.
I liked the fact that some of Ginger's skills were a surprise to Saxon and that she wasn't a frail and frightened, cowering, whiny damsel in distress, but while we got to know what Ginger was thinking much of time, Saxon's character wasn't quite as fully developed, nor were we given a chance to know what he was thinking and feeling throughout most of the book. Although I expected the sex between these two to be heated, and expected an HEA ending, I didn't feel that the ending was particularly exciting--it was certainly a lot less dramatic than some of the earlier chase scenes in the novel, and was a bit of a let-down.
There were certainly enough secondary characters to keep this series going for some time, and I will continue to follow it, but I do hope that the editors and proofreaders do a much better job on any subsequent installments.
Librarians have gotten a bad rap. Ginger Boyce knows she fits into the mold, but here in New Orleans she’s ready for some sassy fun. Until she decides to dress up like the stripper Kitten she and her friend had met the night before. She’s determined to bring Kitten the signed book they’d promised her–plus see a bit more of the New Orleans night life. Unfortunately, trying to find her led Ginger to a very bad place.
Hasn’t Marc Grog been dead for two years?
When Ginger goes into the back alley room looking for Kitten, she finds Marc Grog instead, along with A crowd of lowlife gangsters who work for drug kingpin Raven. Who’s also there, killing one of his men who’d made a mistake. Right in front of Ginger.
Oops.
Now, we know Ginger didn’t expect to see Marc Grog, much less a murder. If Agent Saxon Hale can’t get her out of there fast enough, she’ll be next. She’s their only shot at getting Raven. She’s the only one who knows who he is. Her life expectancy is now being counted in hours, not years.
Combine a hot town, a cast of cool characters, smoking chemistry and a lot of humidity? You get the Agent and the Librarian, kicking butt and taking names.
Wow what a fast paced read full of action, bad men, hot men and romance. This is the third book in the An Unbroken Heroes series and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Though there was some violence in this book it is the kind that isn't in graphic detail so for me it is just the right amount.
The authors attention to detail in describing emotions and the scenery gives the reader a full flavor to the story and will enthrall the reader like I was. Her ability to keep up the fast pace till the very end is impressive and she leaves a lot of space for future books with the way she ends the story.
Saxon is a good guy with his head in all the right places but he is no match for librarian Ginger's hidden feistiness. I love this side of her personality and how she pushes Saxon's hot button ever chance she gets.
Ginger is quite a surprise as she hides behind her librarian facade. Watching her inner strong girl come out is fun and rewarding.
After reading and enjoying this book I want to go back to read Vitus's story, Dare You to Run book #2 of this series. Vitus is Saxon's brother and he certainly caught my attention with all the mentions of him and his wife.

Deep Into Trouble was a great read. There was lots of action and suspense. I loved seeing the characters back together. I loved how the Hale brothers were able to work together even though Saxon didn't call him in for help. What in the world is going on with Tyler why can't they stop him and his scheming ways. It seems that no matter what he is always one or two steps ahead of the team. This team is great and I know that sooner or later he will get what he deserves. Saxon and Ginger were great together and she was a strong woman that understood his job. She was a very strong woman. Saxon did everything he could to protect Ginger from the moment that he met her and little by little that chemistry became love. Now Saxon is going to know how his brother felt when he couldn't stay away from his love. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
