Ähmmm... Ups?

This was one of the best series I've read and I would love for it to have some extra Ash in there.
It's one of the few series I've done a re-read.

3.75 Stars- Full disclosure: I read the 'Harbinger' series prior to this without realizing 'The Dark Elements' proceeds it and includes some of the same characters. This did not disappointment me, though had I known, I would have read this series first.

'The Dark Elements' collection is a sci-fi/fantasy series from Jennifer Armentrout that begins with a reunion between two young wardens once thought to have a future together, until one left without a word only to return after three years of silence, hoping to set their future back on track.

The remainder of the series focuses on 17 year old Layla Shaw, who longs to bury her true identity and live as a normal teenager. Over time, she begins to accept who she is; this involves learning to use her abilities to fight for herself and those she loves. Layla also finds herself responsible for preventing earth's apocalypse while deciding who to give her heart to. The storyline keeps readers remain engaged and curious from start to finish.

With that said, there are a few things in 'The Dark Elements' that fell short for me. First, the narrator's perspective. I wish this at least alternated between Layla and Roth. Also, I think Layla's story should have wrapped up in one or two books, leaving room in the series for a story to focus on Nicolai and Danika.

The Dark Elements Complete Collection: An Anthology by Jennifer L. Armentrout has the following titles Bitter Sweet Love, White Hot Kiss, Stone Cold Touch, and Every Last Breath. I’ll update my review as I finish each title.

Bitter Sweet Love

Bitter Sweet Love is the prequel novella to The Dark Elements series and it was a great glimpse into this new world. I was just drawn into this wonderful story and I just couldn’t get enough of it. It was just so easy to get lost in this great story and I just had so much fun getting to go along with these amazing characters. I can’t wait to see what’s next from this author.

White Hot Kiss

White Hot Kiss is the first book in The Dark Elements series and I just loved getting to reenter this world. I was just drawn into this wonderful story and I just couldn’t get enough of it. It was just so easy to get lost in this great story. I just didn’t want it to end. I just lost myself in and I just couldn’t get enough of these interesting characters. I can’t wait to see what’s next from this author.

Stone Cold Touch

Every Last Breath

FIRST OF ALL, THE PREQUEL NOVELLA.. NO AUDIOBOOK, NO READ..

SECOND OMG THAT WAS LAME ASF.
LAYLA IS SO IMMATURE AND ANNOYING.
AND TBH, OMG IF WE KILL THE LILAN, WE KILL LAYLA. KINDA DUMB CONCEPT.

ALSO, OMG HOW MANY TIMES DOES SHE NEED TO REPEAT HERSELF!!!??? LIKE SERIOUSLY. CONSTANTLY FAST FORWARDING CUZ THERES NO NEED FOR THAT. IT WAS ANNOYING.
THE WHOLE SERIES COULD HAVE BEEN 1 BOOK INSTEAD OF 3 IF THEY CUT OUT ALL THE UNNECESSARY REPEATING AND WHINING AND OMG STAB OUT MY EYES AND EARS....

SOOOOO BADDDDD.. 💩💩💩💩💩

WHAT A WASTE OF TIME.

Such a great series!

This series was so addictive! I absolutely flew through it. Fast paced, super fun and witty, balanced so well with the emotional scenes, dealing with some very real inner turmoil for many characters throughout.

Roth is too beautiful for this world and Zayne is a babe.

I adored Layla’s character growth, acceptance and healing during these books and thoroughly enjoyed how her story was written, along with every element composed.

Surprisingly amazing read!

I wasn't sure about this book at first because it's not a typical genre I read, but....I could not put it down!! I read the trilogy in a matter of days and it pained me when I finished the first and second knowing I only had one left! Thrilling, unexpected twists and turns, romance and adventure. It has it all! Recommend to anyone seeking a story of a different kind with complex and lovable characters.

Dark Elements was an engaging read. Every book leaves you wanting more. I’m so glad that we now spin off series, starting with Storm and Fury because I wasn’t ready to let these characters go... not quietly at least.

So in LOVE with ROTH!!!

Loved the fantasy around Demond’s and Angels. The reality around desire and heartache. ROTH was the heart of the story for me. Such a wickedly handsome, straightforward, sexy, passionate man. LOVE LOVE LOVE HIM!!!

Amazing, as usual

I had no idea a Teen book could be so spicy with all fade to black! The tension is delicious! The story lines and twists and turns were fantastic. I couldn't put this series down and lost a bit of sleep over it!

Very good series

JLA has been categorized as a YA author, but as someone who is considered a senior citizen, I can tell you that her books are so well written that everyone can enjoy them. Give this collection a try.

Loved this series!

This book kept me captivated from the first page to the last. I felt Layla's heartbreaks, tribulations and happiness. Kept rooting for Zayne but Roth grew on me. This really is a must read before the Harbinger series.
