Chelsea, who knows no other life than the island but is devastated by what happened to Odin, wonders whether to trust her father, the man who runs the place, or Reed and the others who are planning to revolt.
Book Review of Gladiator Island by Corey O’Neill Reed, a high school student, joined a program called “Ship Out.” He and his friend Chelsea sailed around and try to help others. One day, they got boarded by some people who live on the island and captured Reed to force him to fight in gladiatorial fights. The owner of the island had been experimenting on animals and created a fighting monster to entertain the spectators. Reed is forced to fight and kill people and the monsters. I enjoyed the book because it is really interesting and it has really interesting characters. Chelsea was the daughter of the owner of the island and she enjoyed watching people fight. She was a complex character. My one critique is that it is slow-paced. This book is slow paced because it often doesn’t get to the point and they take a while to actually go towards the plot of the book. Also, it is explicitly violent. However, I would recommend this to others. If you have ever watched Hunger Games, then you would love Gladiator Island.
