This is an excellent addition to any collection of dog books for an elementary school library. The photos are large and representative of the text. There is a glossary, table of contents, index, and more facts. The text is large and easy to read, well-spaced on the page. There is a photo for every page of text.

In this introductory non-fiction book, Abdo Kids does a great job of teaching young readers about dogs, including this title on Boxers. Through slightly complex sentence structure children will learn all about Boxers--how they move, their body features, grooming needs, exercise requirements, and personality. Crisp photographs depict Boxers throughout the text. This book familiarizes primary students with non-fiction text features. Includes a table of contents, bold words, a glossary of terms, index, more facts, and a code to abdokids.com. Rather than just basic information on the website, this code gives students access to information, activities, a video, and links. A wonderful series on dogs for any primary collection.

A basic introduction to the boxer that focuses on the physical characteristics, the personality and a little bit of the history of the breed. Simple text is combined with large, color illustrations of different types of boxers. Words featured in the glossary appear in bold, gray type in the text, which makes them easy to distinguish. Readers can go to the abdokids.com website to access crafts, games, videos and other websites that provide further information about the breed. One link was not working correctly. Perfect for young readers needing simple non-fiction or for general interest in Boxers.
