Even with our modern technology, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis cannot be treated or cured. I've been bed or chair bound since I was a kid. The advent of Virtual Reality technology has given me a chance for a new life. Or rather dozens of them. Heh.
I'm an avid gamer, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
In the games I could be what I wanted to be, who I wanted to be. A mighty warrior, a powerful spellcaster, the charming rogue. The crafter. The builder. All of those and more have helped to greatly alleviated my problems.
But a new game is coming out; one with the power to change the world. It uses a brand new technology, based around the first ever deep immersion Dive Pod. With it there is no more game lag or graphical limits. It is being heralded as the greatest breakthrough in Virtual Reality technologies since its founding.
And the first and only game for it: Universe Online.
No longer will players be stuck on a single large world to explore. No longer will there a limit to what you can do, what you can be. Fly spaceships between the stars, conquer planets, create custom technology. Mine, Build, Destroy. Explore. Rule.
Too short for what is paid, mixed with a cliff hanger ending just to get you to buy the next book, gets this bok a low ratting. I would give it 4 to 5 stars if it was a normal sized novel and wasn't a overpriced blatant money grab.
This book had exactly what I was looking for in a book. It was suspenseful, it had a world that was slowly being developed and explored with a series that is not just a quick burn. Hopefully the author can write some more books. Only thing I wish the author would change is the book length. It only took me around an hour to read this book, and when I was finished with this short read I only wanted more. This book series would probably work better in > 400 pgs increments.
The story continues to be entertaining, but we start getting into the weeds for some aspects. This is much more pronounced on the second part of the volume.
The politics piece comes completely out of left field and some of the characters seem to behave completely different.
I am extremely pleased with the plotline of the story and the authors vacation to detail. It is a perfect example of lit RPG and I cannot wait for any and all following issues to be speedily delivered.
