A paradigm shift is a sudden, major change in the way you view something, brought on by new information or a new detail that was formerly unknown. Paradigm shifts occur in every area of life, dramatically impacting everyone they touch and leaving a legacy of large-scale transformation in their path. This book is about seven such paradigm shifts, seven major emerging changes, that will rock the world in the years and decades just ahead. If you don't already know about these seven shifts and use them in your daily leadership, you're already behind the curve. These seven new realities are remaking the world in their image. Understanding them is essential to being an effective leader.
Written in 2015 with some predictions of how our society will function in the coming 15ish years, this book was one that we discussed for a class I'm taking. Given that it's 2024, it's been interesting to see how some of these predictions have already begun becoming reality.
The idea that in order to lead well, you are better to be prepared for the future versus reacting to it is obvious.
The book posits changes in education (a shift away from the model of degrees for degrees sake) that I already see happening in IT and some engineering fields, politics (principles over party - could it please be so! A change we need badly), health care and more.
An interesting read that articulated current trends, perhaps, more than predictions given the age of the book.
