As a best-selling author Rita Davies has the world at her feet, but there is one thing missing. All Rita wants is a man and she is determined to go to great lengths to find one. Even if that includes auctioning herself off at a charity fundraiser. The only single one in her group, Rita is desperate for a plus one so she can Netflix and chill with because her tubs of ice cream just aren’t doing it for her no more. Rita is quirky, flirty and, at times, downright dirty. Follow Rita on her writing journey then decide which path she should take.
Lavinia originally grew up in Cheshire and now lives in a small village just outside of Edinburgh with her husband, two children and two fur babies. Writing has always been something that Lavinia has loved since an early age. Over the years Lavinia has faced many obstacles but this has only spurred her on. In 2017 Lavinia was diagnosed with Metastatic Breast Cancer. She has chosen to not let this define her, if anything it has given her the drive to do more.
I can’t remember the last time I read a rom com. Seemingly I’ve got a strange set of humour so I’m pretty fussy bout fun reads. I’ve gotta say this author rocked it as I absolutely loved this story.
Rita, an author, is a great character. She’s single but wants to find herself a man. I love how her personality shone through.
This is a fabulous refreshing read that had me hooked. If your looking for a read that will have you laughing out loud then I recommend this read.
'The Dating Game' is a rom-com that tells the story of bestselling author Rita Davies, a single girl determined to find a man.
I was hooked from the first page. Rita as the narrator was entertaining and genuinely hilarious at times. The book sparkles with her vibrant personality and this makes it very hard to put down! I read this over a couple of days and enjoyed every moment. The romance element is steamy when Rita becomes involved with a man she might fall for, but there's more than one hunk on her radar.
Overall this is an engaging romance with an excellent sense of humour. I can't recommend it enough to fans of romantic reads. Don't waste time, pick this up now and prepare to be hooked!
This is a fantastic love triangle story. Our lead is a writer who loves going to her local coffee shop/bar for inspiration and a place to write. She meets the new server and really thinks things could get serious between them. After an accident she meets a very wealthy man who has his heart set on sweeping her off her feet. The story line is quite cute, even though at times the language switch over threw me (European slang/words) it never made me want to quit the story. The only part I need/wanted more of was the actual story since we end on a killer cliff hanger! Hopefully we don't have to wait long for the second book, I can't decide which guy I want to win her heart, but I know it will be a roller coaster.
I didn't know what to expect when I opened this book, but I was pleasantly surprised and soon became addicted. For the past few nights I've stayed up late to read this. I just had to find out what happened next, who Rita would choose. The ending I must say was evil. Lavinia, I have a bone to pick with you! It's funny, sexy and riveting and it's just what I like in a book. I recommend it. Now I hope there's a book 2...
Rita getting back into the dating game provided me with hours of amusement. This is the first book I've read by this author and I'm sure I'll be reading more!
Rita Davies is single and ready to mingle! Well, armed with her want list for her man-to-be, she reluctantly partakes in the dating game!
Excerpt: I wanted a man who didn’t have saggy balls, and looking to another male figure who looked barely eighteen, I knew I wanted a man whose balls had also dropped.
This laugh out loud story had me cracking up from the very first chapter and it continued throughout. As we see the successful author find a man, and a friend in Owen, their chemistry flowed out the pages. But heck, we all knew it wouldn’t be so simple for Rita!!
Excerpt: A small chunk of his life was missing and it seemed to be something very meaningful, he just wished that he could remember it...
A really funny and heart warming read, not without its faults in terms of grammar and spelling, but they are few and far between and didn’t impact on the story itself. The ending is a raging cliffhanger, so be warned! The second book in this series will be released on 18th June 2018 and I look forward to seeing what the future holds for our hilarious Rita!
I wanted to love this book. I really enjoy a good ROM com. This book fell quite short. I liked Rita's personality for the most part but I really didn't like a lot of her behaviours. Owen was likeable and I think a genuine person. Caleb was all over the place and seemed a bit obnoxious at times.
I honestly don't know if the author had a plan when she set out and wrote this book. I believe this because Caleb's behaviours just seem to be too inconsistent.
I also can't stress this enough I hated the ending! All this being said I still would have given this book 3 stars if it had been edited or sent to a proofreader. There were a lot of errors.
I truly hope if you pick up this book you like it better than I did. Sadly, even though I think this author has promise with respect to world building and character building I will be giving her other work a miss because I thought the ending was lazy and a cop out.
This is the first book I've read by this author and I loved it. Her writing style is so down to earth and her characters are so easy to love, I want them as my friends!!! This a story about a girl torn between two guys and we get to pick who she should end up with in the next installment. This sounded fabulous - how often do we get annoyed when our girl picks the wrong guy? Only now I have no idea who to pick, I too fell in love with both the guys for completely different reasons, so I'm off to download BOTH so I can get my Caleb and Owen fix haha!!!!
Seriously I cannot tell you how great this book is. Rita had me cracking up from the first page!! Get this one on your TBR, you'll love it!!
Lavinia has done it again! I was captivated with the storyline and found the characters really relatable. I wanted to love, laugh and cry along with them. This book doesn't disappoint. A storyline with so many twists and turns made it impossible to put down. I felt that I was right there watching the story unfold. A true testimony to great writing. I enjoyed the book that much that I wanted to immediately re-read it after I had finished it. I will be recommending this to everyone I know.
Loved the story and hated the ending! Have no idea which way Rita should go. Owen was a great guy, even though he didn’t have much to offer Rita. Yes Caleb could offer her the world and was terrific with her. Was’t sure if Caleb wanted to settle down and have a home life, considering how busy he was with his work! Plus Owen still needed to get his memory back!
Hilarious rom com that I thoroughly enjoyed. Rita is caught in a love triangle and can’t decide who to choose. Both suitors have their advantages but Rita is torn. Can’t wait to find out who Rita chooses....
Absolutely loved this book The world has lost a amazing author :( This book had me laughing the whole way through and now I'm jumping straight into the next book in the series
Hot damn what a fab fun just overall lovely book! This was my first read by Lavinia Urban and i just fell into this story and didnt leave until it was finished... it was so easy just to get into the story and want to keep reading. Fab characters with Rita who is an author.. she frequents the local pub where she finds it easy to get into her writing zone... shes looking for someone important to have in her life. Owen comes to work in the pub where Rita writes and the 2 become good friends.. but will it or can it go any further than friendship for this pair? Just when you think you have this story figured out theres quite a twist that happens.. and it takes the story on a different direction. Seriously looking forward to the next book to come out so i can see what happens next! Would recommend this book to everyone to read.
