In the months following the Awakening, Christian’s group of survivors grows but they are still outnumbered by the hordes of zombies and scabs plaguing the world. With their security at risk, they must move to safer ground. When Christian and Boomer get separated from the group, Christian is caught in a life or death struggle forcing him to reveal his immunity and hope he can trust the one person who knows his secret. After Fish leads a daring rescue to save a group of specialists, they discover the origin of the virus and a plan is forged to get them to the Hoover Dam. New hope is on the horizon until a betrayal within the camp threatens not only Christian’s life but the lives of all humanity. In Vol.2 of The Hunt Chronicles Christian makes a Revelation: He may be immune to the virus, but he is not immune to the monsters which dwell in all of us.

Excellent! The Hunt Chronicles is one of the best series I have come across in the genre, and I have read tons of them.
The writing is stellar, with an exceptional, well constructed, creative and clever plot.

There are lots of hardships and a lot of new friendships as well. Betrayal, exciting character revelations, and of course, incredible, suspenseful and graphic Zombie fighting to boot. Boomer, the dog will wow you with his zombie-fighting prowess. Love him!

The narration by Joshua Story is perfection! Especially enjoy how he voices the super-charged, colorful, (and a personal favorite) character named "Fish." What a fun ride!

Book #3 (Crusade) here I come! :)

Revelations By J.D.Demers Jan 8th 2017

We found in book one, that the Scab’s were people that got bit but didn’t die, they were stronger and cunning. Zombies, would eat vegetation when no meat was available. they also didn't like the sun, they were more active at night. We also find that the zombies didn't like rain and the thunder confused them.
Book two picks up where one left off. The people of the ACE Hardwear plaza, were in the process of leaving and heading to Camp Holly.Lieutenant Campbell decided to separate Fish & Christian. Fish went with Big read and Campbell and Christian was teamed up with Chuck and his group.
Just one problem, Karina,(14 yr old girl whom was smart but never shut up. Nor did she follow directions well.) had gone back into the building. So Chuck and Christian, much to Christian's dismay was going after them. While the others in their group went on ahead.
Christian, hear the voice of reason more in this book and that voice was that of his father.
Little did the group know that there was a cunning trader in their midst. Thankfully Fish put it together in a nick of time to save Christian. This book was even better than the one before. J.D. Demers did an excellent job with it. He has a flare with details and descriptions. So many wonderful characters well developed. He had a perfect balance of endearing, annoying and character’s you wanted to die. So it was a suspenseful entertaining read. Mr. Demers is a new upcoming Author to watch. Well done Sir.

It will be tough to wait for the next in the series. That is where I want to begin. Now, for the misses before I get to the hits of this title (and yeah, there are both).

Christian became a bit less likable in this volume. It sis not help that he was basically shackled with an obnoxious teen girl for a bit. That whole bit with the two of them was perhaps my biggest fault. I get it that a teen girl may ask a lot of questions and talk incessantly, but at times it seemed overdone to the point of slightly distracting. Absolutely not enough to dissuade you from this book, but that was a blip for me during the story.

*****SPOILER*****
(sort of)
The fact that Christian waits so long to tell somebody he has been bitten also made me like him less. I felt he would've come clean sooner and that.

***end of SPOILER (sort of)****

Fish still has the ability to annoy me, but it is all in character so kudos to Demers for making me annoyed with that guy.

The story has a natural flow for the most part, but does seem to over-stereotype at times. I will say that there is one very well thrown curveball (nope...no spoiler this time) and it made this book go from pretty good to pretty DARN good on its own.

Overall, this is a series you will want to start adding to your list. And, as I said, I am anxious for the next volume.

Christian is a great POV character, and I've thoroughly enjoyed following his story. The second book in The Hunt Chronicles starts where the first book ended - with Christian and his group trying to escape an undead hoard.

There is a ton of action, but not so much that there isn't time for some plot developments. And character development. Not only does Christian grow and change, but so does Fish - one of my favorite characters from the first book. While Christian does what he has to do to help his group survive, he never stops being a decent, and compassionate person.

Several new characters were introduced, and I especially liked Karina, a fourteen year old girl that Christian rescued. She became something of an annoying kid sister to Christian, which was amusing.

A lot of interesting facts about the undead came to light, and about the scabs, the living humans that were changed by the zombie virus.

It was a fun read, and I will definitely be getting the next book in the series.

Oh, and Boomer the dog gets a few good scenes.

Revolution did not disappoint even after the cliffhanger at the end of Awakening.

Action packed and suspenseful I found myself cheering for Christian and Boomer who have definitely gained experience fighting zombies but also in dealing with the drama and complications involved in surviving in a new society.

Once again I was on the edge of my seat and spent way too much time reading late at night when I had to work the next day. It was well worth it and I can't wait for book number three.

Wow

OK so I'm left dying to know what the heck happened and how the heck he ended up where he is. Where is everyone. Uggg. I enjoyed this book just as much as the first one and it has left me salivating for the third. I learned to love some characters and hate others. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a good book

Another great zombie book (with a murder mystery/whodunit twist as well), from J.D. Demers. Along with the zombies there are "Scabs" that the survivors have to deal with as well. These Scabs are just as bad as the zombies, if not worse. I can't wait for book 3!!!

I enjoyed this book immensely but couldn't bring myself to write a review without jumping into the third book immediately and taking some time to sit on this book and think about it. If I'm not wrong I read somewhere the author said he made people feel bad for the bad guy in this book, hopefully I'm not mixing it up with another book. Before I jump on that though lets cover the other stuff. Lots of new companion characters and world building going on in this book with event after event happening. The author is meticulous when writing about weapons and especially with stuff regarding the military, It's probably the most realistic depiction of the military in fiction that I have read to date with details most would miss and none of the exaggeration and extravagance of video games and movies. I really like most of the new characters introduced and they all seem to fit in perfectly and believably serving their own purposes. Now on to the bad guy of the book, I can see why some people might feel bad for him but I really didn't like him from the moment he was introduced. Mainly because of his demeanor, even his introductory scene made me assume worse about him. His backstory was a little predictable early on because of just how much detail the author puts into things as well. Overall though all of it was good character development for the story as a whole. Once again the narrator of the audible version did a fantastic job as well.

Still good. I'm hooked on the series and have bought the third book. The plot concerning the new species is intriguing and the characters are so well depicted with all their flaws. Great job.

Book two picks up as Fish, Christian, Boomer and crew are getting ready to leave the compromised Ace Hardware compound. The gang had acquired a fire truck which they armored and modified with a plow to sail through the zombies. Other differences in this author’s zombies; (1) Christian noticed that a zombie had regrown the muscles necessary to chew or feed. Zombies typically decay not regenerate (2) Bullet wounds on Scabs were healing; another sign of regeneration. Christian and Corina, along with Boomer of course, were separated from the rest of the gang. They spent the next few days avoiding the infected, while making their way to a rendezvous point to join the others. A dozen more survivors were added to the gang via recon or scavenging runs, which helped immensely with needed labor and security. A new headquarters needed to be acquired and fortified. Christian’s immunity is still an issue; should he reveal his immunity to the others in the hope that it would be beneficial or will they worry that he is a carrier and may turn at any moment? After several odd occurrences it is feared there is a traitor in the camp and the identity must be discovered. With these issues complicating things for our heroes they still must be on guard for Scabs and Zombies. Good story with lots of action and a bit of suspense.

I received this book from the author in exchange of my honest opinion.

First of all, this book is a cliffhanger, and that's why I couldn't hate it higher, sorry, I really hate them! And you might think differently...

Revelation is the second book of the Hunt Chronicles, and the narrative keeps its awesome pace. Christian Hunt is back, and for his joy, not alone! Many months have gone since the awakening, as they refer to the outbreak of the virus which turned most of mankind in brainless zombies, and revealed that the walking dead are not the worst things created by the plague. A worse menace is threatening Christian, his friends and comrades who ran the Compound: the Scabs. These terrifying creatures are faster, stronger and intelligent...

Now these monsters are around it seems there is no safe place to stay and during their new routines to survive, it's time to set a new fortress where some items can be produced and kids protected. But while constructing and organizing the Camp, they meet new groups of survivors and unfortunately not all of them are good people. In this apocalyptic society where numbers are strength, being immune can be a bless or a curse if you can't prove it.

As survival struggle its battle, chances are that Christian's blood might carry a key to the cure. But how much would he being willing to take part on it, and what difficulties might they find before his dream can come true?

A fun continuation to Awakening. The main cast of characters continue their fight for survival; upgrading Camp Holly, searching for survivors, and trying to understand why the world turned on itself. Although Fish is a major player in this sequel, Christian is definitely center-stage. The sense of familiarity, as characters are developed further, plays an important role in the overall feel of this read.

There is a 'great reveal' in this adventure - and I'm not talking about Christian's immunity. It was alarmingly obvious the moment a scene transpired. The same is true for a tech-related item. I'll say no more. Obvious or not, it was still fun getting to the climax.

There are additions and subtractions to the group of survivors. Fish is still Fish and Christian is still plagued (sorry) by his secret. The origin of the virus is realized, but I felt it still a minor bit of information in this character-driven zombie adventure.

In all, this was fun and fairly quick to read. I felt the pace was solid. I noted just a few editing errors (not the kind spell-check catches). The book doesn't end in a cliff-hanger, but it definitely sets the stage for Volume 3 (TBD). Author provided copy for review. 4.8/5 Stars

If you’re a big Zombie fan I think you’re going to like this series and this story as a whole. Its FULL of zombie action and great writing which really connects you and makes you feel like you’re part of the action, so it might be best not to eat on a full stomach. The characters continue their story, along with a few new additions, and no one is safe (except Christian because he’s writing the story) and the body count, both dead and undead, piles up fast.

I really wanted to rate this higher, but there was one big issue I had. I like where the overall story is going but for most of this book I kept asking myself “where is THIS BOOK going?” For long stretches I felt like the book was just a story of a group of survivors and we would never find out how Christian ended up on the roof (we still don’t know) which frustrated me quite a bit. However, the final 20% of the book really wrapped up the current action nicely and set the stage for going forward and really got me interested to read the next in the series so take my rating with a grain of salt as cliffhangers/continuances are one of my pet peves. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long for the next one!

This second book in The Hunt Chronicles was even better than the first! It is non-stop action, and obviously well thought out, and well written. I am itching for the next installment of the series, especially with the hints of what's to come next.

I never thought I could like a zombie apocalypse so much, yet here I am, wishing you would all read these books.

Hello, Damn good stuff in here. Regular zombies and suped up zombies. Good guys, bad guys and the military. Read it and enjoy. Oh, and one more thing, someone in each crew needs to start toting a shotgun.
