After being quite underwhelmed with the previous Kindred entry, I'm not entirely sure what inner "completionist" demon forced me to purchase this or when. But I do know that I found myself staring at this title on my Kindle's menu two weeks ago. So I read it.
I actually thought this was pretty good. Well, all things being relative, of course. I guess this crap is like young-adult reading for adults. So let's go ahead and just ignore the glaring flaws in the style of writing, the oh-so-obvious plot, and the dialog that sometimes borders on being so bad that someone would likely die if they actually uttered it out loud.
Anderson keeps the Kindred formula working in Pursued by adding another slight variation on the theme. This time it's all about emotional (and physical) scarring.
Let's see what we've had so far:
Claimed: Reluctant female; Gentle, caring, huge cock +fist Kindred
Hunted: Reluctant female; Gentle, caring, huge cock, fangs Kindred
Sought: Reluctant female; Gentle, caring, Twin Kindred = two personalities and two huge cocks
Found: Unreluctant female; Gentle, caring, domination, double-huge-cocks Kindred
Revealed: Inexperienced female; Gentle, caring, huge cock, wings Kindred

So there you have it. As females and Kindreds go, it's a pretty good variation on the theme. The plot's also not half bad: a summary would make it seem pretty threadbare, but the various threats to our protagonists are frequent and dire enough to make things seem important and keep the action moving along.
Things I learned from this book:
1. You can call somebody "baby" under any circumstances and it won't be weird or forced at all.
2. Plants can make you live out your worst memories - actually I already knew that.
3. You can fuck the emotional problems out of somebody if you just do it hard enough.
4. The Goddess wants you to have good sex.
It's all big dumb fun with the Kindred and handled quite well. I am not ashamed to admit that I'm actually looking forward to the next book. The premise of tele-humping "Touch Kindred" plus "incest lite" against the backdrop of the age-old impersonation gambit trope is...well shit, that's just entertaining!

3.5 stars out of 5...this is my longest review yet. Who knew I could go on and on about such a silly book?! Also, I tried to blot out the spoilers but sorry if I didn't get them all!
I'm not going to lie. Believe it or not, I was sort of looking forward to reading this book, in spite of what I wrote in my review of Revealed. The idea of two f**ked up people coming together as soul mates is one of my weaknesses when it comes to love stories so I may be a bit biased in this review. Many people have asked why I continue to read the series since I review it so harshly and am such a critic. My answer is that, while I understand that erotic works of fiction are usually read first and foremost for their erotic content; Ms. Anderson has clearly intended to put just as much effort into her story and actual writing craft, as she has in getting us off. And she's very good at the latter, IMO ;) I just think that the former needs a little work. And I also think that authors of these kinds of works still should step up their games. Writing is writing, no matter the subject. It's a craft that should be respected and done well, not used to create unreadable garbage. Luckily, unreadable garbage is NOT what you will find here.
First off, quick summary. This story begins right where Revealed left off, so you need to read that before you read this one. Elise, a human woman who was previously captured by the departed All Father, is found floating in a stasis unit in space by Merrick, a Beast/Blood Kindred hybrid. Hybrid Kindred males are even larger in size than their full blooded peers and are supposedly unable to bond. However, after saving Elise and bringing her back to the Mother ship, Merrick and Elise are revealed to have formed an artificial bond that must be destroyed before it destroys them. Thus is the beginning of our journey. First the two must travel to Rageron to find a rare plant that can help destroy the bond. All the while, needing physical touch to ease the "hunger" of the bond, but trying to resist their overpowering attraction to one another. After this , they are kidnapped by Draven (the new evil) subjected to pain and torture, and then reunited in the end.
First, what worked for me:
1. Elise and Merrick. I liked them both. I liked them together and apart. I feared that Elise would be turned into another god-awful Sophie-like character. Luckily in between the angst and weeping, and stupid decisions, there were enough ballsy moments in which Elise was forced to prove herself worthy of Merrick. I also liked that Elise was fairly straightforward in her desire for Merrick as well. Sure there was some resistance on account of her very dark past (even worse than Sophie's, IMO) but there wasn't any annoying "I like it but I can't because...because....because..." like with Olivia and Kat, etc. Me thinks perhaps Anderson has learned a thing or two about the irritating way she tends to portray her females. Bravo.
Merrick was just right for me, as a hero. He's definitely my favorite so far. He came across as alpha and protective, but not an overbearing asshole. There are moments where he's forced to accept Elise's independence and strength as a person, which he does. He didn't try to force anything on Elise that she wasn't willing to give, but he also knew that she might need a little bit of seductive coaxing. He was blunt and to the point, which I liked. He doesn't shy away from killing (there was actually a line where he refers to himself feeling better "now that the killing was done" that made me LOL.). He's not oversexed (unlike *ahem* Baird) but he's definitely into enjoying what Elise has to offer. He's tortured, scarred, but still soft and squishy on the inside. I don't know. I'm not really sure what it was about this one. In some ways he was very much like the other heroes but the balance of his character just worked for me better than in the past.
The sexual tension between the two was very believable to me. They were a couple that I was rooting for (for once!) and couldn't wait until they hooked up. I hope we get a scene or two of sexy time with this couple, next book.
2. The story elements. There were certain parts of the story that I found to be surprisingly dark. This is a good thing IMO, especially considering the tooth-ache inducing love fest that was Revealed. I loved the fact that Merrick's mom was I believe her story with her touch-kindred lover/brother will be next. I will be interested to see how Anderson handles that situation, considering her other pseudo-incest stories have left a bad taste in my mouth and reek of coercive sex. But she's already off to solid start in having Lissa admit that she very much reciprocates her "brother's" attraction.
3. First World: I liked the stuff that happened on First World and learning a bit more about it. I felt like I could picture the different scenes/settings in my mind. I will admit that I found Rast/Nadiah a little boring now that they are together. Lissa strikes me as the young, sweet, virginal type. I kind of wonder what Anderson has against women who aren't afraid to sleep around a little bit. I don't recall encountering that in any of her past works. Her women are always sexually unsure of themselves and seem to need men to help them find their sexual power. It's not necessarily a criticism as much as an observation.
What didn't work for me:
1. Repetitive storylines. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy the story, but it struck me more as a hybrid of Planet X and Hunted than something really new and original. Anyone who has read those two books and then reads this will see the similarities. A dangerous jungle planet traversed by A large beastly dude and young hottie? Check. A remote and indigenous people with strange customs and beliefs that cause problems for the main characters? Check. Huge scary jungle creature that needs to be killed by alpha hero? Check. Young hottie is former victim of rape? Check. Beastly dude must overcome hottie's sexual hang ups due to the past rape? Check. Not only that, but even Draven's storyline is basically a copy of the All father's from the first four books. He kidnaps the heroine and hero, tortures them both a bit, and then somehow they are able to get away, which is basically how it always played out with the All Father in the past. Although I will admit that Draven is funnier and a bit more sadistic IMO, which is good. The more bad he actually accomplishes, the more us readers will want his demise '. (Think Joffery from Game of Thrones. Is there anyone who's read the books or seen the show that didn't want that kid dead? LOL)
2. The Mothership Crew. Anytime we were forced to revisit the ladies on the Mothership, I skimmed. It bores the hell out of me, not gonna lie. I could care less what weird concoction Olivia is mowing down on. I sure as shit don't want to hear anymore of Sophie's whining or stammering. And what the hell does Kat even do anymore aside from eating and girl-talk? Sylvan and Xairn seemed to be the only Mothership men available this time around. Once Elise meets them all, I couldn't stop thinking "someone like her wouldn't be friends with women like them". I don't see why all of the women need to be friends or hang out together constantly. It's unrealistic. Sophie's happy news at the end of the story left me gagging. Also, question. If Olivia is already hugely pregnant with one child, I mean, the dynamics of humans giving birth to kindred babies hasn't exactly been discussed in detail. Also, the stuff with Xairn and Lauren was kind of a head scratcher. The way Xairn was behaving and reacting to his dreams didn't really make sense to me. All in all, I suppose I should admit that I find the other couples rather boring now that they've had their stories and are together.
3. I found the fiancé character to be unnecessary.
4. No real consequences. One of my biggest on-going gripes is that there are no permanent consequences in this series. While many of the characters have troubled/dark pasts, it seems as soon as they meet their prospective mates, nothing bad sticks. For example, Another example is Sophie's infertility. She should never have been able to have kids with Sylvan but due to "magic", she's healed and Yuck. Also, Merrick and Elise are able to I just think that while fantasy stories are just that, fantasy, they still need to follow the rules of that universe. And if the rules of that universe are: "nothing bad ever happens that's permanent anyway" then why do I bother reading? If I know every single Kindred and their mates are going to make it and live happily ever after, what's the point?
All in all, in spite of a few bothersome bits, I was pleasantly surprised by this story. I'm pretty sure I will read the next installment when it comes out this fall.

This series, Brides of the Kindred, is a guilty pleasure read. I don't expect amazing plotting, amazing world-building, or amazing characterization. What I do want is heroines who don't annoy the fucking shit out of me.
I don't have a problem that Elise has been sexually abused in the past and kidnapped by the AllFather. I don't have a problem in Evangeline Anderson's portrayal of a damaged heroine. I do have a problem with how Elise has been one of the most tstl (too-stupid-to-live) heroines I have ever had the misfortune of reading.
I know that from reading the rest of her Kindred series that Evangeline Anderson loves to have her females as these nurturing, kind, wouldn't-hurt-a-fly souls. This is not a bad trait. But when your heroine argues with the hero to keep holding on to prey bait, knowing that they are both A) alone and B)without weapons, while confronted with a highly dangerous predator because she can't bear to see it killed is so unbelievably stupid. 1) The prey pony-like animal can run and is not guaranteed to die, otherwise the prey population would have been decimated already. 2) This is survival 101 - do not lure predators to attack you when are alone and without means of defense. Fortunately for her, which also starts showcasing how weak she is, Merrick, her man, manages to somehow defeat the hungry predator.
At this point I was pretty much 99% done with Elise. Before then, it was her whining and her inability to break it off with her fiance and her snappiness with her fiance and her indecision that was pissing me off. After then, I realized that all my problems with Elise was her sheer stupidity. I skimmed ahead then to see if she did anything redeemable in the next few pages but it turns out that her red underwear was criminally offensive to the guardians of the jungle (these guardians that determined who got the plant that Elise & Merrick needed). She had been warned not to wear anything red in the jungle several times and she had just ignored those warnings again and again.
As for the romance between Merrick and Elise, I didn't get it. Seriously, Elise had nothing to endear herself to Merrick besides the fact that they had formed a sort of fake bond at the beginning. In the 70% of the book that I read, I felt absolutely nothing for this couple, just irritation about Elise. There wasn't really anything to be irritated about with Merrick, paper-alpha-male cutout he was.
So why did I read this? And why did I read the several other books in this series? Well, Chained (9th book in series) was actually quite good and sparked an interest to go back and read more of this series. I had read the first and fourth books before and thought they were okay; I had also skimmed through the second and third books and thought they were atrocious (all suffering from tstl mary sue heroine syndrome). But I figured that somewhere in between the fourth book where I left off and the ninth, she had somehow figured out how to write interesting smart heroines and decently logical plots. Unfortunately, she hadn't figured that out at the time when she wrote this book.

The basic romance here between two very wounded people is engaging. I like the heroine doesn't just magically get over her past.
However, she does a lot of stupid stuff.
The book gets a bit tedious after a while when the characters stagnate.
There are also too many characters that don't have meaningful contributions to the story.
So, I want to like this series but it isn't working for me.

Ahhh, another Kindred book! I get so excited when I see there is new one out. These sexy aliens have got me tied in knots and begging the heavens for an alien abduction, Kindred style! These guys are perfec; big, strong with cocks that could be construed as deadly weapons and a powerful urge to give oral until his woman passes out... where can I sign up? And although Merrick wasn't yout typical Kindred warrior as he is a very rare, dangerous and despised half breed between a Beast and Blood Kindred, I loved him, he had the sexiness of both the Kindred races. Since the end of Revealed I have been looking forward to Merrick and Elise's book. They look like such opposites on the outside, Merrick so big and scarred and Elise petite and beautiful. But on the inside they are both the same, scarred and shutting out their past. They were perfect for eachother! What I liked was although they, ofcourse, had their Misunderstandings they never really tried to deny how they felt about eachother, and for the most part their relationship was intense, sexually charged and sweet.
This series is also developing a very interesting overarching plot, with Draven and his hoarde of grotesque beasts. I can't wait to see what will happen next, and am torn between wanting someone to kick Draven's arse and wanting someone to give him back his soul and redeem him. You also get to see the characters from the previous books, especially the women, and I seem to like them more now then I did in their own books! And also, when the hell is Olivia going to give birth, the poor girl has been pregnant for bloody ever!
Another great book in the installment, it was passsionate and emotional and I am now impatiently waiting for the next book.

I would have liked to remember how they first met and formed a bond, but I guess that was in the previous books. I read a preview of this book months ago. I remembered the fiancé James and that hilarious IHOP scene. James really added to my enjoyment of the story. Even the villain Draven was likable and I kind of wanted him to get a mate when we encountered him in the epilogue.
All the girl gatherings where they ate so much food made me jealous... I wish I could eat all those sweets lol
OMG, I cannot wait for Lissa & Saber's book! I was more interested in them than Elise and Merrick, especially because I never saw Merrick as so handsome. But Saber on the other hand? HOT. Also they have that whole forbidden angsty, psuedo-incest love going on.
Note: This book is erotic enough for me to classify it as erotic romance, but there is only one actual sex scene that takes place at the end of the story.

Summary
Merrick and Elise have just returned back to Earth, after Merrick rescued Elise, where she was tortured and only she knows how damaged she is. From the first moment that Elise meets Merrick she is drawn to him. When they return to Earth, he learns that she is engaged, but having been so consumed with thoughts of Merrick, she forgets to tell him before its too late. Now he has washed his hands of her, but when they learn that her life is in danger, and only Merrick can save her, they are forced together. Elise knows that she loves Merrick, and that they have a bond, but they are told that when she was rescued, they made a "artificial" bond, which is unhealthy and will eventually kill them both. So they are sent on a mission, to go to "Rageron", the most wild of all the Kindred worlds, and they will have to go to the "Deep Blue" jungle, that is infamous for the danger and where the Ancients run it with a tight fist. The danger escalates when they have to steal a certain plant, that is the key to breaking their bond. As they face the dangers of the jungle together, they will learn of sacrifice and that true love can conquer any...no matter the torments of their pasts or the unhealthy bond they have to break...but will that love still be there when their bond breaks or will it be erased?
The Hero
Merrick, is considered not a true kindred, he is looked at as scarred, and an outcast and has been looked down upon ever since he was born. His father died when he was young, and through a twist of fate and circumstances, was scarred and tormented. Merrick doesn't believe that he has any redeemable qualities until he meets Elise...whose torment more than matches his own. Merrick...oh Merrick....what a hero we have here. He was breathtakingly gorgeous, sweet and patient, and did he know how to give a gal a orgasm. He is sexy, and his scars, they don't matter to our heroine of the story. Merrick is strong and when you learn of his past, well he earned many "brownie" points in my book. He tends to get a bit impatient and stubborn, but I love how he is with Elise. He is the true match for her.
The Heroine
Elise, suffers from a torment of her own, one that goes back further than when she was captured. A memory she keeps hidden even from herself. Elise, because of her past, considers herself unworthy of Merrick. She loves him, but she knows that she is damaged goods...what man could want her when he learns the truth? Elise was the type of heroine, that you just want to give comfort to. My heart just broke for her, and despite everything you learn about her, you see how strong she is, especially when it comes to the man that she loves. You see what she is willing to sacrifice for Merrick. Elise at first seems fragile, but as you see her courage and inner strength manifest itself through the story, your respect for her grows in the story. I just adored her
Plot and Story Line
Now I want to warn those of you, you haven't read this (shame on you all) *grins* then you need to start with the first book. Now there is about 14 installments...I know that is alot. And boy does this author write fast. Geez, I can barely keep up. And each story keeps getting better as the series gets more entrenched. But you really need to start from the beginning, and the good news is that they aren't expensive books at all. And considering the quality, and the length...its a great deal at 2.99 or a couple of the books are at 3.99--but that is a great deal and I would highly recommend you try this author out and soon. Ever since I discovered this series, I have loved every moment. Now this series is in the Erotica genre...but would I consider it full on Erotica? No, its pretty close to mainstream but not quite, since the sex scenes are pretty HOT!! But the plus is that there is a great plot and story line with each of the books. In Pursued, we have two that have developed a close bond to each other, and there is only one way to break it...they have to steal a plan from a planet full of danger. There is quite a bit that happens in this story, and since its over 400 pages, it really takes you on a whirlwind of adventure, suspense, and romance. You won't get bored with this one, in fact, I would say its one of the most intense of installments that I have read so far. Now even though there are plenty of steamy scenes, in retrospect its pretty light until the later half. When you look at Elise and see what torments her, you understand, and boy will you love Merrick even more. Because really, its rare to find a hero like this one. This story is full of some twists and a couple of shocks...and you might need a box of tissues handy. Because I was seriously balling on my break at work!! The writing is superb and enthralling. I was completely drawn in from page one.There are so many things that I loved about this book, and I think the one thing I didn't like was the fiance's role in the story, but it did add a bit of flair to the story though. It had everything I was expecting from Evangeline Anderson, and I can't wait until the next book.

This cover is so different from others I have seen, but it does go along with the "science fiction" theme. What I love is the bold colors, and how they blend together in the mniddle, where the couple pose is focused. Definitely a pretty cover, and one of my favorites for the series.

I'm still firmly Team Sylvan here. Absolutely, one billionty percent. He's just my special favourite and nobody else has come close - okay, maybe Deep came close, but no cigar... and Xairn too, but not as close as Deep. What? I like angsty, tortured dudes okay?
I enjoyed this one though. I didn't think I would because we went into it with a vague passing knowledge of Merrick and it wasn't a very erm... enticing introduction to him - and frankly, Elise was a bit of a moron. I mean seriously? Chasing allthefuck over hells half acre TWICE after a glorified cartoon pony? IN YO' UNDIES?! And all the whining and crying and carrying on was getting old - pick a direction and stick with it woman, I like how it was handled in (SHOCKER) Sylvan and Sophie's story better. Also, serious lack of Baird, Deep and Lock in this one. I find I missed them - even the passing scenes with Sylvan were great, so little instances of those three would've been faboosh.
But overall it was interesting enough to keep my attention (though where was all the smut in this one???) and it's definitely leading up to some interesting sounding sequels. I just adore this series. I swear Evangeline Anderson just can do no wrong with it as far as I'm concerned (unless Sylvan gets offed, in which case, friends off yo').
Is it completely insane that I think I'm going to be mega-drawn to Draven? Fuhreak is H-O-T shit. And sarcastic. I'm a sucker for sarcasm, yes I am. He needs an enchanting little human girl to show him the error of his ways, that's for damned sure.
I'm assuming Lissa and Saber are up next, YAY! She's a cutie pie and he's already hot shit, so I cannot wait.

To enjoy this book, you really need to read #5. This picks up relatively far into their relationship; in Book 5 they meet when Merrick saves Elise after she escapes the AllFather's ship, and you see the attachment that begins to form between them. I really loved that part of their relationship and it's a shame that it's in a completely separate book.
I love Merrick and all his swearing; he's a definite rough-around-the-edges kind of hero, but uber delicious.

This Brides of the Kindred series is ridiculous. It's induced more eye-rolls than any other book or series I've read. Its fairy tale silliness makes it easy to see what is coming, every book is formulaic and similar in storyline, and the masculine alpha-aliens are always - ALWAYS - perfect to their undeserving women.
BUT I LOVE IT! EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
The sixth book of the series follows Elise and Merrick through their love-trials. Merrick is Sylvan's best friend, and found Elise floating out in space, practically dead. He brought her back to the Mother Ship, and soon realized that he just couldn't live without her. However, the "bond" they formed was wrong, and was going to kill them. So they made a pilgrimage to Rageron for the healing herbs to break the death-bond. And, true to Brides form, Elise just couldn't be with Merrick, no matter how much they wanted each other. UST and blue balls abound.
If you've followed my reviews of this series at all, you will know that I hate with all my heart one of the Brides. Her name is Sophie. And I was Horribly worried that Elise would turn into another whining, sniveling heroine that should be cast aside by her sexy alpha alien. It went on FOREVER, this logic that Elise couldn't be intimate with Merrick. She had dark secrets and tons of baggage, and just couldn't help be be frightened of him. I mean, except those times where she wasn't frightened of him, and let him bring her off in some amazingly erotic way.
But Elise's story actually redeemed itself. It was utterly tragic, what happened to her in her youth. Couple that with Merrick's own baggage, and I actually got a little misty during the "outing" of their problems. They were wonderfully matched, and their trek through the jungle brought them to a point of acceptance of each other. It was actually kind of beautiful.
I think this was one of my favorites. Not only were the sex scenes just - GAH! - out of this world. But the story held together a bit better than in the last few books. Once again, we're awarded with new and creative space creatures, Kindred inventions, and silly rituals to the Gods. Those are always fun.
I'll say it again: try this series out. It's so much fun, easy to read, and will leave your panties a little worse for wear.

This one was a struggle for me. Like many here, I love the ongoing saga of the Kindred and their Brides. However, the stories are starting to feel very repetitive and the ongoing whining and hand wringing has gone on a bit too long for my taste.
This installment focused on Elise, the last captive of the evil All Father, and Merrick a scared (inside and out) half-breed Kindred. The basic story line has been told enough, so I'll just skip to my thoughts.
I enjoyed the time spent on Rageron. It is always fun to meet a new culture and environment. Merrick's uncles were great and the planet's environs lush, adorable, and deadly dangerous. I loved the My Little Pony references!
What tried my patience was the overlong struggle between Merrick and Elise. They kept bouncing back and forth between desire, anger, determination to avoid the other, and just general whinging about. By the time they got their HEA at the end, I was relieved to be done with it. Merrick's attitude right before the very end was really the last straw for me. I had a headache and just wasn't in the mood anymore.
Reading back over my review, I realize I'm terribly negative - and I'm sorry for that. I think I'm mostly disappointed. These books are a wonderful price which I really appreciate, and I'm sure they are not just whipped out easily. I don't want to imply that there is anything missing as far as writing quality. What I think has happened is that I've simply lost patience with all the whiny characters. Even the men who start out as sexy alpha males end up uncertain and overly concerned with protecting every little aspect of their women. Can I just point out that when a man is constantly asking you, "Is that too hard? Oops, did I just pull your hair? Oh, I'm so sorry did that just hurt your feelings?" - it is just too much, way, way too much of what most would consider a good thing?

My god, the heroine was SO ANNOYING. HOLY SH*T. I honestly can't stand her. She's ALWAYS crying, always. For someone who is supposed to be this "strong" woman fighting for the other rights of women...she's a very poor example. And don't get me wrong, I'm sure her trauma has made her who she is, but dear God, it was excruciating to read the book since I enjoyed the Hero so much. The series has been "average" for me for the most part, but if this book is of any indication, it's only going to get worse from here.
To break it down: Hero tells her not to do something, heroine goes and does it. Heroine ends up in trouble, Hero goes to save her. Heroine ends up feeling guilty for disobeying Hero in the first place (clearly she knows better as an Earthling on a strange planet). Pan to Heroine crying...constantly. So much crying. Of course Hero has no clue what to do with Heroine...since...you know...SHE'S BATSH*T CRAY CRAY. She needs to be doped up with antidepressants, or left on the stasis pod where the Hero found her. She is definitely someone undeserving of the Hero's attention.

I really wish I could give this book 0 stars. Pursued has a scene with Elise as a young girl be violently raped over a weekend period by her stepfather, and her beloved pet dog Buck who tried to protect her; being murdered by the stepfather. I wish E. Anderson would put out a warning when her stories contain rape and abuse to animals. I buy books to read for entertainment and rape and animal abuse is Not entertaining to me. Ms. Anderson please put a disclosure on your books, so reader can be in the know before they buy your books with this content. I really don't understand all of the 4 and 5 star reviews for this book. I have no idea what makes people like to read about rape and animal abuse. The story wasn't very good either.

Would have liked this more if the heroine hadn't consistently made terrible/stupid/out of character (a lawyer who didn't read a contract??) decisions.

I really enjoyed this book. it was a difficult book at times to get through because of the subject matter. You understood where Elise was coming from but at the same time you were desperate for her to trust Merrick. However, very sensitively handled by the author and I'm glad I was able to read the whole thing.
Listened on Audio and the narrator was excellent.
Evangeline Anderson is one of the few authors that really goes back and revisits her other characters from earlier in the series. it's a little odd at first but I'm getting used to it no and I kind of like it. It actually is quite refreshing that these very different characters aren't suddenly all happy every after but they continue to have their own struggles and issues. And actually, it draws out the story so it's quite good. more of Evangeline Anderson is never a bad thing, lol

After being introduced to Merrick and Elise in Revealed: Brides of the Kindred 5, I anxiously awaited the next installment, Pursued: Brides of the Kindred 6, which would tell their story and ultimately their HEA--I was not disappointed! I read the book in one sitting--it's sad... I know. "Moderation" is a foreign concept for me; I am definitely due for an intervention. =:-)
What can I say about the newest Kindred male? Merrick is the epitome of a strong and silent Uber- Alpha Kindred Male... Let's face it- the former mercenary had qualities (i.e. decisive, steadfast, considerate, honorable and gentle, etc.) that readers *swoon* over without becoming a sappy personality. His back-story was consistent with and clearly defined who, why and how Merrick became the blunt/direct/no nonsense persona, we, the readers met in Revealed and have come to know in Pursued.
BTW, Merrick has become my favorite character, next to Sylvan, Deep and Baird. In the spirit of full disclosure, I will wholeheartedly admit among other things associated with Merrick's "uber-alpha maleness"--that the "technical demonstration in the viewer" solidified his position as Top Kindred (for me =;-).
Elise was a good match for the Hybrid Kindred male. As an attorney she was used to fighting for causes- which made their pairing seem plausible. Elise was not the typical damsel in distress which was somewhat refreshing to read; I liked how she was an integral and indispensible partner during their quest to the jungle of Rageron.
Ms. Anderson's world building for this series is absolutely intriguing. I love how each book takes us to another part of the universe with its own unique histories, ecologies and cultural nuances.
While I understand the role of the ladies and their roundtable sessions in each book, I would love to see more of our beloved male personalities performing or having performed their daily tasks, whether it's commanding/piloting, (Baird, Sylvan, Merrick, Xairn, Deep and Lock) or engineering (Merrick).
Thank you Ms. Anderson for sharing these guys with us and keeping the admission to your `world (s)' affordable! Well done! Looking forward to Exiled!

Oh my God! I am absolutely in love with this series!!!! How she is not on the new York times best sellers list, I will never understand!!! I wish more people knew about the Brides of the Kindred! Jesus, and oh if these hot, sexy, passionate alien men, who would do ANYTHING for their brides, and have, ahem, incredible gigantic sized equipment were real!
Evangeline takes you on a new adventure with each book, no story is the same. each book has a different type of Kindred, and even takes you to new planets with each new story. Her attention to detail makes you feel like you are actually there, walking through the blue jungles of Rageron, or walking through the city with trees growing majestically through out the homes,or eating some bonding fruit ;) or feeding the my little pony creatures the pastel flowers. (I seriously loved the my little pony creatures!!!) Her attention to detail of these new and exciting places really drew me in and made me feel like I was there, without drawing away from the story as some authors tend to do. I also love the fact that the stories of past characters continue on with each story, something I applaud Evangeline on doing. Nothing irritates me more than an author writing a series who forgets to include past characters that you laughed, cryed, and fell in love with.
All in all I loved Pursued, as i have loved all the Brides of the kindred. I simply think Evangeline Anderson is a brilliant author when it comes to the Brides of the Kindred ans i highly recommend this series. I hope many many more Kindred books will be written. Cannot wait for Lissa and Saber's story!!!

There was possibility in this book, but I felt let down. At times, Elise, the heroine was TSTL. Following a "My Little Pony-esque" creature, not once but twice. The first time almost getting her protector/artificially bonded mate killed, she did it again! Anderson is good at world building, I also like that she always has some kind of illness/poison/injury befall the couple that requires sexual contact for healing. I like Merrick a lot. I'm not sure I'll read Lissa's book. This author is always good at the dirty talk and the sex is always hot. But sometimes I wish her characters would just communicate. Both just making all of these assumptions.
Where's Baird? Why is Sylvan running everything? He's head doctor and has to decide when to close space rifts and shit too? Seriously, that guy needs a vacay. Geez. I miss my Baird.

I love the Kindred series and this book did not disappoint. I thought that the character development was great. I didn't feel like the author tried to rush the dynamic of Elise and Merrick nor did she drag it out. The book flowed well. The sex is hot, though there isn't as much in this one as in some of the past books, but that is alright. What I love about this book, other than the fact that the Kindred truly cherish their women, is that the author focuses on one main story. She introduces others in the book in a way that doesn't seem like she has too much going on at the same time. This story is essentially about two damaged people who come together to help mend one another. There is some push and pull, but considering the story of Elise it is more than understandable.

Elise was raped as a teen so she allows not touch of any kind. Fears men but is artifically soul bonded to Merrick due to him opening her Stasis chamber when they find this out both are very upset.
they must travel to another planet to get a sacred vine with berries to break the bond or both will die Elise is like a parasite that must feed from Merrick to stay aline thru touch and even light sex which she cannot handle so she is sick... if she dies he dies...
Very exciting, loved all the different worlds they mentioned and visit in this book, and the ending well. I loved it...

Loved it. I completely love merrick hybrid kindred that has blood kindred like sylvan and beast kindred like Baird because he's a hybrid it's believed that he can't have a mated bond with another female. I like that Elise is strong and independent in some areas but also very troubled and has serious issue from her past that cause huge problems with merrick. I like that all characters are either mentioned or appear in story. Looking forward to Lissa and Saber story. First story with both H/h being kindred. Great epilogue

Two tortured souls who´s bonded in a faulty way, go on a quest to sever their bond. Had a hard time connecting with this couple, don´t know if it´s because she was a door mat and never listened to his advice, or if it´s the tragic experiences that she just surpressed and never did anything about. We caught up on all the previous couples, too, and learned more about Lissa the priestess, and her heartbreaking lovelife. Can´t wait to learn more about her.

I seem to have developed a taste for this sci-fi romance/smut lately and this series is giving me the fix I need. Pursued is my favorite of the series so far. Elise is a damaged heroine with a shockingly disturbing past. Merrick is a big bad scarred ruffian of an alpha with a chip on his shoulder who just melts for her. I.LOVED.ITTTTT!!
