How do we equip the next generation with money management skills that they can carry forth into their adult lives?
One of the most important lessons that you can teach your kids is how to handle their money. Unfortunately, for most parents, giving their kids a sound financial education is an afterthought at best.
Frustrated by the lack of resources that apply the concept of finance to real life situations for his own children to learn from, author Walter Andal was inspired to create an informative and entertaining book to help children get on the right path to making smart personal financial decisions.
In Finance 101 for Kids, children and parents will explore:
-How money started -How to earn and make money -Saving and investing -What credit is and the dangers of mishandling credit -What the stock market is -Economic forces that can affect personal finance -What currencies and foreign exchanges are -The importance of giving back to the community
Walter Andal obtained his Master of Business Administration with a concentration in International Finance from the University of La Verne in California, and his Bachelor of Arts in Management Economics from Ateneo de Manila University. He has worked in different capacities in the fields of insurance, banking, real estate, and healthcare. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and four children.
Dare I say that no one can afford to lack the crucial ability to navigate an economy responsibly? Well, "Finance 101 for Kids" beat me to it. As a matter of fact, it taught me as a student much of what I know about that now. Indeed, it's quite adept at explaining the essentials about investing in the stock market, what factors can change how much things cost, & the responsibilities associated with handling credit - all in an easy-to-digest format. I must also say, I loved the illustrations - wherever you could use a little demonstration of the facts, you're sure to see one, & be captivated by its light humor all the same.
'Finance 101 for kids' is a book that every parent should get for their child, especially if their children are going to soon handle money on their own.
The author, Walter Andal, has covered most of the commonly used terms used in the context of finance and economics and explained them in a very simple way using examples from everyday life, something that they can relate to and understand. The illustrations are nice and funny, which brings about a light moment now and then.
There are many topics, for example, Inflation, Credit, Budgets, Stock Market, etc, which parents struggle to explain to children without complicating them too much. The author does the job perfectly by decoding them in the language that children can understand. He also integrates important aspects such as the need to save, the importance of giving, etc, which are equally important and makes it holistic.
What a great book! I have three teenagers who are at the age when they are going to start handling their own money and this book could not have come along at a better time. Written in a breezy, friendly tone in easy to understand language FINANCE 101 FOR KIDS teaches everything a kid (or an adult, for that matter) needs to know about handling money responsibly. From where money comes from and how to get a credit card, to saving and the stock market, this book explains it all. I wish I had something like this years ago when I was a kid. Kudos to Walter Andal for making this information available for the many kids who would graduate without ever having had any instruction in the handling of money and their finances without it.
I wish I had this book when I was a child, but at least now, my children would learn the things I didn't at their age.
It's very well-written and makes learning about money easily understandable for kids. Most schools don't really teach financial literacy, and so thank you, Walter, for writing this and helping kids have tools to help them in the future.
I love how finance concepts and economic principles are so easily explained by the author. The kids will definitely get it... and I think YOU will too!
"Finance 101 for Kids" is a good way to begin teaching youngsters the overall facts, value and use of money. The attention-grabbing illustrations will aid them in grasping the teachings in the book.
