Yeah I liked it though I feel like a sucker, even though I just got this from the library.
It felt like a big set up of background stories for what could be a really cool book, ...
but no, ...

it is for a video-game.

Excellent artwork for a bunch of short background stories for a bleak and plausible future.

The introduction talks of drugs and OIL and is strong, then you get these half-assed vignettes (can't call 'em stories) and it all doesn't build up or lead to anything other than the (weak IMO) explanation that this is to provide background for a video-game.

So the oil runs out. Shit hits the fan. Several criminal organizations band together in a tentative truce for the survival of Sunrise City. The shaky truce has ended. Things are happening.

I don't know. Pretty forgettable, now that I think about it, but the art is great

A bunch of vignettes built around a MMO game where oil has dried up leaving everyone without cars and planes. The stories are about all of the crime lords in the game, I presume. I wasn't even sure this was a game until I got to the end and it was explained as I've never heard of the game. the stories are all pretty bland even though they attracted some top artists to draw the stories. This honestly feels like something Dark Horse would put out instead of Boom.

Arranca com uma premissa pós-apocalíptica interessante, mas depressa fica atascado num enredo previsível de criminalidade e corrupção institucionalizada. O mundo de Bleedout está exangue de petróleo graças a um acto de bio-terrorismo que contaminou as reservas petrolíferas mundiais e levou ao obrigatório colapso social e económico. Somos focados numa cidade corrupta, onde políticos e líderes de organizações criminosas se unem para travar a anarquia e lucrar com o estado das coisas. A história é-nos contada em vinhetas soltas, centradas nas principais figuras criminosas e nas suas principais façanhas. O ambiente é o de um caldeirão onde gangues rivais prosperam em tréguas inquietas e a bio-arma que provocou o colapso civilizacional provocou uma mutação nalguns indivíduos, tornando-os quase imortais.

O que poderia ser uma história sobre a nossa dependência civilizacional do petróleo não passa de uma variação dos policiais noir com os necessários toques de violência e sexualidade desviante, sem esquecer o obrigatório super-homem que paralelo à lei coloca os criminosos a lutar entre si. Não é particularmente interessante, mas torna-se intrigante pela variedade expressiva dos estilos dos vários artistas que ilustram cada capítulo do livro.
