Kali has been working toward her dream of building an airship and escaping the frozen Yukon for so long that she can scarcely believe it’s close to becoming a reality. There’s just one problem. Cedar, her friend and business partner (and maybe a little more), is in jail, and the American authorities are on their way to hang him. The Mounties aren’t listening to reason, so the only way to free him may be to break him out of their headquarters—if she can. Even if she succeeds, she’ll be branded a criminal for the rest of her life.

Entertaining Steampunk listening 🎶🔰

Kali and Cedar continue to attempt to build a airship. Cedar is arrested and is being held in the Royal Mounted Police Department. Kali breaks him out now they are on the run. Pirates attack Dawson demanding good and money 💰. Kali and Cedar help defeat the pirates. They get their airship. I would recommend this series and author to 👍 readers of romantic Steampunk mystery novels 👍🔰. 2023 👒😀😡🏡

I've been rooting for Kali and Cedar to find their way together since book 1. What? I make no apologies. They were weirdly cute together. Kali might be a borderline genius inventor when she can get her hands on some tools and Cedar might be a dab hand at bounty hunting, but they were totally sweet. Sure, she's absentminded when she gets working and he's considered a criminal, but they WORKED.

This book isn't all about their relationship (except in my head!). Kali's flash gold is both coveted and reviled by others. There's danger in the air (LITERALLY!) and not too many people she can turn to for help with Cedar in jail waiting to be hauled off.

So she improvises. And they fight the good fight.

I'm sad to see this series go. I've enjoyed every installment and wouldn't mind spending more time in this world. Because those two get into the BEST dangerous situations. *nods*

Liberty is the last book in this novella series.

This series was a quick, enjoyable read. I'm usually not a fan of the whole Steampunk genre but when Lindsay Buroker writes it, I am. I'm a fan of any genre she writes really.

Again this was a quick fun read. I really wish these books were longer. There are so many possibilities that this series could have done. But they are good

A nice wrap up of the series. I would have liked to see the Amelia story-line more fleshed out but I'm glad that Kali and Cedar got their happily-for-now. Still one of the most creative series I've read in the steampunk genre.

I'm giving the series 5 * because I enjoyed the yarn. I was a bit disappointed that there were so many loose ends, and characters that appeared, seemed important then disappeared? Its almost as if a book #6 is required to gather up all those loose ends and set a team of misfits against the world. My main thought as the book closed was "who's on watch during the night hours" Its not going to be much of a love match if one of the crew is avoiding mountains all night! Still a good read, and "different".

The last installment of the Flash Gold chronicles wraps up some things nicely and other not. I liked the evolution of Kali and Cedar's relationship and seeing them reach their goals. However I felt that certain things could have been wrapped up better. I also found it very irritating that Kali repeatedly ignored Cedar asking her to stay somewhere and wait and she just ignored him and later needed him to save her. Her selfishness was also very evident in the book, not caring about a whole town of people and just wanting something for her. I had a hard time liking Kali as much as I have in the past.
Overall I like Kali and Cedar but this last book had a rushed feel that left a lot of plot lines or ideas hanging with no chance of concluding them. 3 out of 5 stars.

Air gangsters, Canadian Mounties, and a lot of gunfire!

This book had a lot more action; poor Cedar having to keep Kali out of trouble then Kali had to break Cedar out of jail. Amelia showed up again with her various evil Inventions; wonder if she survived? At least it had a happy ending.

A decent conclusion to the story, I would have liked a little more than kissing, but I realize it's written for young adults (though there is a fair amount of violence). Kali does some soul searching and grows up a bit as the book progresses.

The romance has blossomed

Kali and Cedar form an incredible duo, powerful in battle due to a knack of beating up the bad guys. It's too bad the sorceress was so bad, she and Kali could have been friends.

whimsical and quaint

The series is short and sweet. The characters are not complex but have Buroker’s typical sarcastic quirkiness.
An unusual setting being gold rush in Yukon, but an enjoyable tale

What a fine ending for the series.

The characters are wonderful and quirky. The plot is twisty and interesting. The world building is fantastic. I hope in the future the author will write more books in this universe.

Good read

I enjoyed getting to know the characters, but would like to see what happens next. Do they figure out how to make flash gold? And Watson store for them in their future.

Good enough

I can’t ever complain about Sistas writing. I enjoy the fact she uses both male and female hero’s!! I’m ready for more Sicario

This whole series was great fun. I enjoyed all 5 books tremendously. Characters were real, the touch of fantasy that Steampunk can bring was not overdone. I would recommend the series to anyone who likes scifi or steampunk.

Doesn't quite wrap up all the loose ends, but a pretty good end to a slow-burn romance, with a bunch of madcap steampunk inventions and chase scenes and airship fights.

Lovely ending

Kali and Ceder. Unusual names but gorgeous together. No longer hunted by the Mounties and running for their lives. Great ending to the series.

A fun, action packed adventure to conclude Cedar & Kali's story, although I can see the potential for future adventures with Kali & Cedar sailing off in the airship at the end. I really felt for poor Kali with what happens to her workshop. And that Amelia - she is so mean and crazy. I understand why she might want to destroy all the Flash gold but her persecution of Kali seems a little above and beyond. There has got to be more to that story. It was also kind of nice to have this one with Cedar helping Kail with her obsession after he got to deal with his in the last book.

I received a free copy from the author in return for an honest review.

It's the long awaited end to the Flashgold series. "Liberty" had a lot of action and a little romance to help end the series. This adventure started where the last one left off. After sugh a long time between books, it was hard to remember the story and what happened. I found Buroker's wit in this book, but was looking for a bit more sass and charm in her dialogue. This story seemed a bit rushed, like Buroker was trying to end the series quickly and didn't spend as much time developing her story as others she has written. I enjoyed "Liberty" and her characters, but was expecting more. I would do still recommend her books to anyone looking for some adventure.

2.75. And so the Flashgold tales end with a bit of a whimper. The premise and the characters were interesting, but over time everything just became a blur of "more of what you expect from Buroker": feisty women, strong men who like them, improbably described action where our heroes should have dropped dead seven daring feats ago but miraculously survive. Don't get me wrong, I like her work, but some of the staples of her writing just become irritating if you don't have an investment or affection for the characters performing the stunts. Now to check out her newer series and see if I can invest in it.

It pains me to say so, as Flash Gold is one of my favorite series, but this book really deserved about 3.5 stars. It was not a fitting end to the series. It was exceedingly short and unsatisfying. It felt like one long battle scene that moved from location-to-location with no time for any real dialogue or character development because the characters were never together. I'm sorry to see these characters go out like this. We finally got the airship headed south and a relationship started and the series has ended.

Kali and Cedar finally have their happy ending, but not before they are put through the wringer in this final book in this fun series. The action is swift and exciting, with a fantastic air battle and some of the really good steampunk/magical constructs I've come to expect from Lindsay Buroker. This really was a fitting ending to the series. I will miss Kali and, especially, Cedar.
