The soul bond has begun – two days to mate or die. Erotic writer Evelyn Goodwin is anxious to erase the memories of an abusive relationship and get her writing mojo back. She’s hopeful that a trip to Ursa Peak will do the trick.
Ronan Knight has spent the better part of his life denying his bear. For him, life as a tour guide is satisfying enough, but when a simple touch while out on tour initiates the soul bond, everything he thought about his life must change. He has to find a mate or die, but acquiring a mate will prove to be difficult.
The last thing Evelyn wants is a new relationship. It’s all she can do to resist the sexy tour guide, but when he opens up to her about his dilemma, that complicates matters for her further. Should she trust a man she barely knows? As if that’s not bad enough, another threat lurks in the shadows.
Can they find love and beat the soul-bind countdown, or will Ronan meet his demise?
She wants a break because what happened with her ex. But the moment she and Ronan touch, they are out of time. They are mates and have two days to accept it or else ...
Bring in a sick evil other werebear and you have action enough in this story. Ronan is a bit to nice, come on, man up and tell her about who you are and what it involves of being mates
Loved it but hated the creepy bear - Killian. Kinda keeps you wondering the whole time just who the creepy one is. Good storyline with a lot of "don't go there!" moments. I really enjoyed it and will definitely be reading the next one.
A adult read for people who are in to the series recommend highly can't wait for the next one of the series a really enjoyable read but quick shaping up to be a enjoyable series
This is an ok read - better than 2 stars, maybe not quite 3. The characters are well written and there are some nice touches of humour and reality - even though it is a shifter book. I just felt the story was lacking in depth at times and a little rushed.
One touch an two lifes are about to be turned upside down. She has to be convinced that He is going to die within days, if She doesn´t mate him. A little confusing but a quite awesome story. The question is weather she´ll be accepting all of him? Absoluty wonderful! You have to read this if you like Paranormal.
When I first started this book it was the cover that drew me in. The title, a little different but nothing too bad. I enjoyed this short book. I read it in about 2 hours.
The Characters were ok even if they were ditzy at times. That is for a lack of better words. With Ronan it is because he has been a shifter half his life and still has yet to accepts it…… That's just confusing. I mean I can understand but at the same time not.
Eve is thrust into this world and hunted, I felt bad for her at times because she got the crap end of the stick. I mean not so much bad luck but still, bad things happen. Yet she was pretty strong thru it all and that helped
The plot is what really drew me in. A bad guy comes in, secrets are told, people hurt, people kidnapped, and a kiss to save the day, that was all awesome. It does end in a to be continued that will follow another couple, one of Ronan's brothers.
Overall I give it 3.5 stars, because the plot really drew me in. I think I would read the rest to find out what happens. #2OCCJD
I'm lost, it's cliffhanger, and i'm content to assume they will work it out an HEA
OK , this is a bear shifter book. They have 3 days to consummate there bond or he dies and she goes insane????? Confusing story. They meet then a crazy bear shifter shows up and starts attacking them and his brothers. He finally says he is a stepbrother who plans on destroying them all.
Typos, confusing phrases, the ability to skip pages and still follow what's going on is not good for any book. They are finally able to solidify their bond and the story ends with the evil brother still on the loose and the police wanting answers. Many people writing reviews saying they like then brothers not knowing much about their shifter sides, seems illogical to me. 2nd story is available but I could not find the 3rd one as of 10\16. Unfortunately this storyline failed to intrigue me enough to but the next book.
Contrived. Don't waste your time. I couldn't even get through the beginning. The characters acted in such an illogical way as to be completely forced. Who in their right mind wears pumps on a HIKE? I don't care how emotionally frazzled you are; that just makes no sense. Then after being accosted by a strange, forceful man on the hike, said woman gets separated from her hiking group. No. A normal woman would make sure she stayed with the group so she wasn't caught alone with creepy hiker. And then she panics and gets lost?! Totally unrealistic, and this is just the beginning. If the characters act in an illogical manner without a fundamental reason (i.e., unless they ARE unbalanced) just to set up an interesting narrative, then that is the definition of contrived. The rest couldn't have interested me less.
I decided to try this book as I have not read any of the author's work. I found this book riveting. It captures the imagination and. Makes it hard to put down. One lesson learned is even though you have been hurt in the past don't give up what you feel because you are frightened of being hurt again.
I read to 13% and returned/DNF. The heroine, Evelyn, is too stupid to live - turned up for an advanced hiking trip wearing "pumps". And the tour guide, the hero, Ronan, tells her she'll be fine after telling any kids under 10 to return to their parents - hike's too difficult. Next thing you know, Evelyn is lost because Ronan, the tour guide, can't keep track of the people who paid to participate in the hike. So, she's running through the woods in high heels and a crazy "bear" is after her. And they're both, individually, sick to their stomach with Ronan gagging because they're apparently fated mates and have been separated? No thanks.
This book had much more realistic reactions from the people involved with the discovery of bear shifters. It also addressed the reaction of shifters not believing in mating rumors. That being said, I bounced back and forth between appreciating the "real-ness" of the reactions and wishing that the characters would get over themselves already. Guess I needed just a touch more of the "things can go right" feeling throughout the book and not just during moments of intimacy. Regardless, I'm looking forward to book two in the series.
I thoroughly enjoyed this dark paranormal suspense romance. Ronan the detached mountain guide isn't attuned with his Bear, preferring to keep out of the way just doing his job, until Evie a visiting hiker in search of writing inspiration touched his hand setting off a chain reaction. At the same time another shifter recognises this bond and sets out to destroy, hurt and terrorise this clan of Bears. It has a good story line, uses great imagery and although a standalone, I can't wait to find out which Bear is meant for Jessie
Pro: - They're not know-it-all shifters. They've yet to realize their potential. - Evie is a real, basic woman. She's not uber gorgeous but not mega frumpy. She's likable. - The story was focused on Ronan and Evie, and Killian, of course, with a little about the brothers and Jessie.
Cons: I can't think of any really. It's not your usual shifter story, it's not so dark that you don't enjoy it. I like it and look forward to more in this series
First off Amazing!!! I enjoyed reading this so much. Already disappointed I have to wait for the next book to come out. The mating time limit is a unique twist. I hope we learn more about the past of Evelyn and the Knight brothers as this story progresses. I feel that their past were hinted on a lot but not a whole lot of details were given. Just enough to show they had a rough go and their lives are far from perfect. I can't wait for the next book to come out!
Good book. Lots of suspense. Sometimes I was confused as to what was happening, but figured it out in the end. Good job of describing how weak Ronan became with the passing of time. Evie is just not very believable at times which made me give this book 4.5 and not a five star rating. The bad dude is used for the other books in the series. I was disappointed that his powers weren't explained in full. I'm sure that's for another book.
Evie is an erotic writer. She goes on vacation to help her writers block. She goes on the forest tour with Ronan their guide. What when she touched him she felt a shock type tingling. Killian was also on the tour and tried to get close to Evie, but he gave her the creeps. This is how a great story starts. There are many twists and turns. Highly recommend. Will have to get the next book now.
this book was really intense.... I really liked it but it was way more serious than I was expecting and much more violent. I'm not saying this was a bad thing it was just a very different story than I expected. that being said the story was very well written and plotted out and just enough information was given on the big baddy to make u keep wondering for the next story. I totally recommend this one.
Ok, I loved the storyline in this book a lot but it moved a bit too fast for me. There were parts where I was skipping ahead because of too much wording. I will say that the ending of this book peaked my interest enough that I do want to read the next one in the series!!
What a fantastic story! Ronan and Evelyn went through so much to get their HEA but true love won! A terrific plot, well developed characters, and plenty of action. A very good adventure story with hilarious one liners and a great sense of humor. Conner and Aiden, Roman's brothers also have a tale to tell. Good paranormal novel.
I've never read this author, so I had a bit of trouble following their style of writing. It took a couple of chapters to get into the flow of the book. The story was moving and had depth. The characters were fascinating in their own rite. Each one had their own agenda and it did one necessarily benefit the other. I would most definitely recommend this author's work.
Dynamics of the story are way different than other shifter stories. It was like reading the first shifter book for the first time. Good characters, nice plot, though parts leave a little sense of why is this one so different? Weak shifters, what is that about?
I'm so mad Jillian got away and he definitely is no ordinary shifter. He is probably something evil a witch or somebody brought back. I can't wait to see what happens next.
This wasn't a bad read but it was just lacking something. I didn't really connect with the characters and I think it's because you don't really learn anything about them that would bring them to life. Their personalities somewhat shine through during dialogue but I felt a bit underwhelmed.
This book was ok but Evie just kept doing the most stupid thing by running outside to get caught by killian. The suspense was good and I enjoyed it though.
