They say the blacker the berry the sweeter the juice, but for Tierra Greene that’s the furthest thing from the truth. Growing up with a notion that “light skin’s the right skin,” Tierra’s always felt unlovable courtesy of her ebony-hued skin tone. The epitome of the “black sheep,” she’s lived a life of coming in second to her “light bright” twin sister, Kierra. Although she’s got the love of family, friends, and professional success beyond measure, her life is barren when it comes to love and romance. Just when Tierra’s set to give up hope of finding that everlasting love, her prince charming shows up in the most unlikely of men. Will she throw caution to the wind and drown her prince in her sea of dark chocolate, or will she ignore her heart for fear of what others may say? Richard Harris is young, bright, ambitious, and eager to dive head first into enjoying life away from home. Though at first glance he appears “wet behind the ears,” Ricky is all man and more than capable of chasing the woman of his dreams—no matter what or who may try to stand in his way. Despite his numerous efforts to express his love for her, he can’t seem to win that ultimate prize; her heart. But Ricky’s far from a quitter, and he won’t rest until the woman he loves is his, and his alone. Will Tierra be able to shed her control-freak ways and go against the norm, or will Ricky crash and burn in his attempt to give her a love that she deserves? Find out in the riveting page-turner...
I love this storyline from beginning to end. I honestly didn’t want it to end. With all the life struggle Tierra had in her life I’m so happy she got her happy ending and Ricky’s parents accepted her!
I was already familiar with First Lady K's work but not D. Jay and I must say they didn't disappoint. This read actually had one looking at things from different perspectives. The more I read If loving you is wrong, the more I didn't want it to be right. From the beginning Tierra and Ricky shared a chemistry that was undeniable. Yes age played a factor but the heart wants what it wants. It was crazy how insecure Tierra actually ones but didn't need to be. I loved Tierra's family and how they accepted Ricky regardless of what his age was. Ricky's parents shocked me because they went overboard trying to protect their son instead of allowing him to live his life and experience whatever would've been. I felt so bad for Tierra and Ricky but he went above and beyond to prove his feelings were real. I understood why Tierra wanted to take things slow and once she and Ricky got on the same page I was waiting to see what more would blossom. Ricky's parents had to get a reality check to realize it wasn't about them, Deshaun was thirsty and Keisha should've learned to keep her mouth closed. There were a few bumps and obstacles thrown at Tierra and Ricky but I'm glad things worked themselves out. I can't wait for part 2 just to see if those involved will finally want to be right knowing that them loving who they do is all wrong.
This was a good story. I rated this book a four because it dragged a little for me. It kinda lost me, when scenes were being repeated by Tierra and Ricky. An example of what I mean, Tierra would tell about something they did then Ricky would basically repeat what she stated. Other then that, the book was good. I loved Tierra and Ricky's story. His parents were a little too much, they really overstepped. I can understand their concerns but Ricky is a growing man who has to learn and live by his choices in life. I loved the way he helped her with her insecurities. At first, she was driving me nuts treating him like a kid. Oh and those dreams they were having about each other in the beginning was giving me life. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a good read. Good collaboration to both authors and nice meeting you two at the book fair in Charlotte.
This book was very interesting and i loved it. Even tho Tierra was much older Ricky he was grown. She didn't do anything to him because she knew what can happen. Her patents was all for it because it was them back in the. But his parents was so wrong. They could've at least hear their side of the story before jumping to conclusions. She didn't deserve to be treated that way. But I understood why. But reality kicked in and Ricky's parents realized they were destined to be together. They finally let her in. She waited he finished school. And they are so happy. Great Job
This was a great read. This book is a great example of how love is love. When you find love, age doesn't matter. There was a big age difference between Tierra and Ricky, but he didn't let that stop him from pursuing her, and eventually winning her heart. I'm glad that they didn't let anything stand in the way if their happiness. It's like the song says, If loving you is wrong, then I don't want to be right. Great job First Lady K and D. Jay.
First let me say i was won over being that the book was short enough to be read in one sitting and it is a standalone. This book is the perfect but not typical love story. Tierra has some major insecurities that Richard was able to help her get over. The book was full of hot and steamy sex scenes. This book touched on such a major age difference in relationships as well as domestic violence. I am now looking forward to the spinoff about Keshia and DeShaun.
What a beautiful love story between and older woman and a young man......even though there ages was different it didn't deter the young man to change how he felt..... Ricky was so determined to be with Tierra even though she kept pushing him away a beautiful rollercoaster story with a beautiful ending great job First Lady K
Tierra and Ricky took us on a journey on how their love began, and how it ended. Of course there were obstacles they had to endure, but that didn't stop them. Age was also a factor that neither party paid attention to. True love at its finest.
