"...clean your bong and call your mother." Words to live by, indeed. Breezy, informative, reassuring, science-based little book. Recommended especially for teenagers and the people who love them.

No rating because I read this for a research project. Nevertheless, this was informative, engaging, and sprinkled with humor.

Schmader’s clever prose helps the reader glide through very easily and it offers moments of reflection that become comforting.

Much like any other general guide, some chapters feel just a bit like fillers or “optional reads”, depending on the kind of person picking up the book. It almost works better as a reference guide rather than a beginning-to-end piece.

It’s important to keep in mind that this book, though very effective at explicating information, gives only a sort of overview of many facets pertaining to marijuana consumption, so if one needs more thorough information, it’s necessary to turn to an additional read.

The fun illustrations and easy-to-swallow information are a good combination and are effective. I found some of what I was looking for but only see myself turning back to it once or twice again.

This books gives you a lot of information on the world of Marijuana.

It is pretty easy and quick to read and is loaded with information for people new to the world of weed, interested in it, or wanting to study it. It lacks bias which is great but of course it is pro-weed but not in your face about it. I got it as weed is becoming legal and beginning to impact family members.

This is a must read for anyone who is curious about it, is impacted by it or is looking into starting it.

I picked up this book as cannabis legalization may be in conversation in my state. This book is great for people looking to learn more about cannabis, the history, the benefits, the uses, ways to be consumed, et cetera. Whether it's simply for education or tips on use, this book is very well-written and informative.
It's an easy, short read that provides a punch of information for people interested in cannabis.

“Weed: The User’s Guide” is a great book that talks about the history of marijuana and its present-day role in our society. It informatively describes how it was discovered and why it became illegal (SPOILER ALERT: It’s because of racism), as well as how to safely use it. It also busts every myth and accusation about marijuana that you've ever heard.

My review for this book can be summed up in one quick sentence:

MARIJUANA SHOULD BE LEGAL AND DECRIMINALIZED EVERYWHERE.

A must read

Super fast read which was nice. Presents the information in an entertaining way which is great. Makes you feel more informed in your decisions regardless of your experience with weed.

A great little book, for what it is. Nicely breaks down subjects easily and explains them well. Perfect for beginners or those possibly looking for other means of smoking/ingestion without feeling dumb at the dispensary. Great guide for newbs!

First, ignore the time it took me to read. I stopped for a long while part way thru, not because of the book. You can finish it in an afternoon.

This is a fun little tome on the pleasures and dangers of toking the smoke. While clearly pro-wee, and while clearly enjoying it himself, Mr. Schmader presents what I think is a well rounded guide. If you're experienced it may not teach you anything new but you may enjoy it all the more. If you're new or considering the joys of the weed then you should definitely take this guide to heart. While mostly beneficial and mostly free of harm there are some things to avoid. I particularly like his advice, repeated several times, that if you don't enjoy dope then dope's not for you.

Tips, hints, advice, and a sensible approach to the topic make this a helpful guide.

I am not a user, but I've had enough people tell me that I'd be a good candidate for medical marijuana that this book piqued my curiosity. I was surprised at how much I learned from it. (For example, if you've never tried it, don't start with edibles, no matter how attractive they may seem. Also, Queen Victoria used marijuana to deal with her cramps.) I was impressed that Schmader wrote about the possible adverse effects of marijuana; pro-weed people often write about it as a cure-all for the world's ills. I kind of skipped over the parts that I don't need (how to clean your bong, recipes for brownies, etc), but I really enjoyed the book as a whole.

An entertaining and informative overview of marijuana if America, in history and today. The author gives clear information about smoking and eating marijuana, how to identify various varieties of weed, and how to manage the effects of being high. There are chapters on the etiquette of using, how to manage if you find yourself in a troublesome high, and what medical marijuana seems to e able to do. Lots of info, presented in an entertaining way.
Read as bedtime reading, for which it was fine, but there is a lot to keep in mind; it is a good resource to have on the shelf.

An entertaining and informative read. Despite a sometimes snarky tone (which I loved), Schmader presents both the risks and benefits of marijuana. It really is time to fully legalize this plant on the federal level (or at the very least, to take it off of the Schedule 1 list).

The book ends with suggestions for actions to take next if you're pot-positive. And finally, this gem:

"Then clean your bong and call your mother."

Well written, easy to read, and fun. Perfect for an info geek. It's obviously pro-cannabis, but also clearly provides pros and cons. Schmader doesn't believe that it's for everyone or magically cures diseases or provide a panacea for every known illness.
