There are elements of Conan in the road novel of this, as well as its use of the supernatural. The story holds hints of classic BPRD/Hellboy too in this way. And there's also a flavour of western. All in all, this is a perfect example of what first issues should be. While touching on a lot of elements I've loved in other stories, this stays original. When it is meant to be scary, it is scary. And there is a power in origins here, where there is sincerity behind the bonds of characters meeting one another. The diversity of the cast in this comic is a bonus. I highly recommend this.
