The Guardians Series 1: Book 3 Would you defy a God to save the one you love? The doorway to the Otherworld has been closed but at a terrible cost. Theo has been left trapped on the other side, while the Demon Nathaniel searches for one of the lost crossroads of the Underworld. With the help of the God Hades and mistrustful of his motives, Olivia risks everything to find Theo, but as she searches, she keeps catching glimpses of the real world unaware that something dark and ancient is stalking the streets of Mercy, stealing human souls. Olivia is faced with an impossible choice, save Theo or go after Nathaniel, knowing that if he reaches the crossroad before her, she will have to make a deal with the keeper of the crossroad and the price just may be her own soul. REVIEWS "I have read all the books in this series now and every single one has been a fantastic, could not put them down!!! This is the first time that I've read books by Wendy Saunders and they didn't disappoint!!" (Amazon Reviewer) "Wow another spellbinding book. That's all I can say." (Amazon Reviewer) "The best so far... This book takes us further into mythology while still holding on to the magic and modern-day Mercy. Gripping story which had me on the edge of my seat, unable to stop reading. It only took me a day to finish. I read Mercy, The Ferryman and Crossroads on holiday in Greece. I felt I was in the perfect surroundings to read this 3rd instalment as the story is heavily influenced by Greek mythology! I cannot wait for book 4..." Okay so now we are hunting Mummy and trying to stop her. I love Hades his such a cool character in these books. So much Lore is used in these books and its so easy to get sucked in. I love Olivia and Theo and how we get to see the relationship develop. I really want to know why Olivia is so special and what she'll eventually be able to do. You just don't know what to write in these reviews because you don't want to ruin anything.
This was fine, but her MM series (dead serious, under a different pen name I think) is better IMO. It's kind of telling that my favorite characters in this series at this point aren't the main couple. I just don't really care what happens to them. They're kind of meh. Hades is hilarious, and I'm interested in Sam's character.
The first book was pretty good and then the series kind of dragged. I might keep reading to see what happens with the book but I think it's getting drawn out too long.
I do appreciate the humor in these books, which is a fun unexpected touch and saves them from being too cheesy and overly dramatic. The humor in the MM books is better! Check them out.
PS: Can we take a moment to appreciate how no one in books like this has an actual day to day job, and has like months at a time to go off on adventures to a Hell dimension? Despite that, they're always mysteriously wealthy?
I just want to thank PNR writers everywhere for finding ways to make that work - I feel honestly a bit envious. Maybe of the time off, not of the Hell dimension, as much.
This series has me enthralled. I cannot stop reading. I am now getting set to get the next book in this series. I have never been one to like this genre, but it captured my attention from the first book in the first paragraph! It is amazing how the author (Wendy Saunders) can think so far outside the box, or realm of any world and keep it all so real! I want to visit the town of Mercy. I want to meet the characters in this series. I never want to leave. Fantastic work. Now on to the next book!!
This is an excellent volume in the series. It started out slow, but after the first chapter it grabs you and does not let you go. This volume is about a quest with diversions leading away from the final destination. There may be a few lapses in the book, but after you get caught in the quest you do not care.
Hades has sent Olivia to the Otherworld as she attempts to find Theo. But soon she finds herself faced with her greatest challenge yet. This third book in The Guardians Series 1 is the best yet. It switches between world's seamlessly and moved at a breathtaking pace. I can't wait to read the next book to find out what happens next. Highly recommended.
The author just keeps pulling you in with this wonderful ride of the underworld, the Gods, and all the magic mixed into one! Can't wait to continue Olivia's story!
I'm running on so little sleep because if these book!!! Can't out them down to save my life. Amazing twists and turns and leaps of faith and the characters keep changing and growing and evolving. A must read.
This has turned into Labyrinth and Neverland rolled into one in my opinion and I liked it. It has demons, witches, rock people and many other creatures that will grow on you or not.
I rec'd digital Kindle copies of The Guardians Series 1 Box Set: Contains Mercy, The Ferryman, Crossroads, through a Goodreads Giveaway in exchange for an honest review. I decided to split them up into three books and three reviews instead of reviewing it as a whole. Crossroads was the third book in the series and the final of the box set, but the series actually continues with Witchfinder and Infernum.
This series started out super strong for me. I am a total sucker for paranormal romances, especially when they're done right. Crossroads dropped a star I'm not sure exactly what it was but, I unfortunately found myself skimming a lot in this book. Picking up right where The Ferryman left off closing the door to the Otherworld, our hero's Olivia and Theo are trapped and must travel to the depths of the Underworld to stop Nathanial and her mother as they destroy the crossroads. The synopsis of this on Goodreads is stellar and pretty much sums up exactly what choices and fears Olivia is facing. Throw a little romp in the grass in between some demon hunting and you got yourself a romance. The romance seemed a little forced this time around between a few characters. There was quite the overkill of Greek Mythology in this one. Overall there was just a lot going on in the story, its still a pretty engaging read I just felt is lacked compared to the first 2 in the series. If I can get my hands on the next two I most definitely will finish it. Still an alluring read.
This book was amazing , I didn’t want to put it down . So many different aspects paranormal witchcraft time travel . I loved it I can’t read to read the rest of the story .
I don’t much like it when a group splits up and I’m not terribly fond of the underworld and yet I finished this book in a day... I can’t stop this series!
Amazing combination of Witchcraft and Greek mythology! What a web of stories, readable even if you don't know mythology, even better if you do. Loved it for that- will even encourage me to look up some things. The story is in 2 parts (and set up that way) because as one is happening, another part is too. This could be a block-buster movie series akin to Star Wars because details are so well thought out. It seems to slow down at some points, only to speed up repeatedly.
The third eagerly anticipated book in this exciting series and it does not disappoint. Picking up exactly where The Ferryman finished, we are swept along on an emotional and nerve wracking journey with Olivia. Without revealing any spoilers, you won’t want to miss this as the story hurtles along and yet also broadens to encompass worlds and characters that you find yourself totally believing in. Oh to see the World through the eyes of this very talented new author.
I think this is my favourite of the three to date, and I loved the others! This book was written very well. More questions raised and another cliff hanger ending, leaving me wanting more. Looking forward to book four! Once again we find ourselves back with our favourite characters from the first and second books, back for yet another adrenaline fuelled adventure. Excellent!
Omg!! This book was amazing. This is the third book of The Guardians series and the author did not disappoint. I love this book, The story keeps you wanting more, its a real page turner I could not put it down. With a huge Omg moment at the end I cannot wait to read the next book. Well done Wendy your books are awesome :) x
