Lust Thy Neighbor

Rate this book
When Violet Kelly's Prince Charming turns out to be a d-bag in designer clothing, she decides she's done with relationships. She doesn’t want the drama, and she certainly doesn’t need it. She’s perfectly content to not be involved with anyone if that means her heart won’t be ripped to shreds again.

But then Declan Pierce moves in next door.

Sarcastic and too good-looking for his own damn good, her new neighbor’s only goal is to survive raising the teenage brother he's now responsible for. He definitely isn't looking for a new relationship, especially after his last girlfriend ended up being monogamously-impaired. Too bad Declan never anticipated meeting someone like Violet. She’s irresistible—an intoxicating mixture of sexy and sweet—and he’s having a hard time staying on his side of the fence.

When flames ignite between them, will Violet and Declan be able to keep their casual, neighbors-with-benefits status? Or will L-U-S-T turn into that other four-letter L word they're both desperate to avoid?

*LUST THY NEIGHBOR is full-length and standalone and includes a bonus three chapter excerpt from Emily Snow's SECOND VERSE.

Emily Snow is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author who loves angst, hot alphaholes, and enemies-to-lovers, so naturally, she writes stories about all three.

It's been awhile since I've read a book by Emily Snow and I almost forgot her style. This was an excellent way to refresh my memory.

I enjoyed the love story that developed between Declan and Violet. Btw, Declan is one of my favourite Irish names. It never fails to conjure up images of hotness lol. Must be all those historical romances I love to read.

I liked that both of them had been hurt by cheating losers. Yes, it sucked that they had to go through that. But it made them value honesty, loyalty, and communication even more. Violet had some problems with honesty (seems that for a teacher she couldn't learn a lesson), but Declan also had some issues with trust.

I loved the inclusion of Jacob. The fact that Declan was raising his brother made him that much more hotter, outstanding, and respectable.

And who wouldn't love having a friend like Beckett? I admired his voice of reason and that he really didn't pick sides or nay say while still remaining supportive of Violet.

Overall, it was a great romantic read. Low on angst and high on love.

Enjoy! xo

I always love reading Emily Snow's books. She has this way with words that conveys humor, passion, and emotion that gets me every single time. I'm so glad she released this book because I didn't get a chance to read it the first time. Lust Thy Neighbor came along just at the right time.

I can truthfully say I devoured this book. I couldn't put it down and loved it. Violet Kelly is pretty awesome. I loved how even though her heart was broken she took no shit from her ex and moved on. And Declan Pierce may seem like a bad boy, but he's all man and a good one at that. Violet and Declan's chemistry is intense and I like how both of them sort of worked their way into each other's lives.

Emily Snow always writes wonderful secondary characters and this book was no different. From Violet's bff and Declan's brother, to Violet's grandmother and mother, there were lots of laughs and smiles. I do sincerely hope Emily continues to write, because I always look forward to reading her books.

Emily Snow delivers a standalone story of a neighbors falling into love with one another. The heroine is nursing some serious broken engagement wounds while the hero has put his love life on hold due to his fear of being “lied to” and being busy raising his fourteen year old brother.

description

The story started out well enough as the two meet, bicker and then realize that they both want more with their lives and from the other.

”She was always more comfortable with complacency. In the past, no change meant something good. Don’t rock the boat because there might be a danger of drowning – that’ what she had always feared. But maybe it wasn’t drowning. Maybe it was just that simple act of swimming. But Violet could swim. Especially if it was Declan she was swimming toward.”

Sadly, their disagreement and her accident didn’t wow me and the story sadly did loss its momentum. There were two scenes that were odd like her knowing the exact time he was coming to her house and she’s masterbating? And then there’s her bizarre accusation of him giving his brother drugs to meet her mother… her nerves probably but still come on. Anyway, it’s been awhile since I read this author and I did for the most part enjoy Delcan and Violet’s fall.

What happens when two neighbors who have sworn off relationships fall in love? Lust Thy Neighbor is what happens!

Violet has sworn off relationships after her ex broke her heart and ruined her trust in men, but when Declan and his brother Jacob move in next door, she can’t help but watch and swoon over the new neighbor. Their first encounters aren’t the greatest, and both come off as annoying neighbors, but as time goes on, the chemistry and attraction between them is undeniable.

Declan and Violet both have had pain in their pasts, but together they try to work their way through the feelings they have for one another and where to go from there. At times I really, really loved this story, but there were other times that I felt it drug on more than it should have. Both of them keep going back to things that happened in the past, instead of learning from it, and letting it go, which I think was the downfall of them before they even truly began.

Communication between these two was also not the greatest, and their “sneakiness” in trying to hide what was going on from Jacob was crazy. He’s a smart boy, he’s a teenager, he knows what is going on, and at times I felt as if he was the most mature of the three of them. My heart did break for Jacob’s character time and time again in this story, but I loved where he ended up at the end of this book.

This book was a good read, and I really did enjoy how it ended, but I felt at times it drug on too much on the boring parts and went too fast during the good parts. Violet and Declan’s story is a really great one, and perfect for someone wanting a quick light read!

To say I was shocked to see that Emily
Snow had actually released a new book,
would be an understatement. I love
her writing when she decides to actually
release her books. Let's face
it her track record is horrible.

This book was a little different than
her others, and I liked it. It had
no over the top drama, in fact, it
was a bit predictable. But, I liked it.
It was just a low drama, easy, relaxing,
read.

But I have to stress that Declan was
simply yummy. He was a simple man,
but with a lot of depth. He was raising
his 14 yr. old brother, and I loved
the interaction between the two.

I had a couple of eye rolling moments,
when the story got a little unbelievable,
but neither that or the predictability
of some of the plot, made this bad.
It was in fact, a sweet read that I
really enjoyed.

My Thoughts
This was a really well written, cute story. There was nothing over the top, nor dramatic, no unnecessary, umreasonable reason to breakup( they do break up for a short while, but that is because of their individual pasts, and mainly Declan's fault. I loved how sweet they were towards each other. And how Jake was included in the plot.

Violet and Declan meet when he moves into the house next door to hers. Violet does not like getting woken up at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday morning by the power saw he was using outdoors. She stormed next door to his house to make her displeasure known. Her dog, Bear, then proceeds to introduce himself to Declan by biting him and Violet doesn't really scold her dog at all. Violet then puts her foot in her mouth by asking questions of why Declan's brother, Jacob, was staying there for the weekend. Violet's whole family was pushy and obnoxious with their invasive questions and putting people on the spot. For a 29-year-old woman, she sure didn't have much a backbone with family but would allow people to be run over roughshod by her family. She lies to her grandmother and claims she and Declan are dating and that he owns his own construction company instead of standing her ground and refusing a blind date her grandmother wanted to set her up on. Declan takes it in stride when he gets ambushed by her and her grandmother and then gets blindsided by Violet's past at the dinner party her grandmother holds. Violet acted like a 12 year old at times and I had a hard time figuring out why she would lie or omit the truth at times. She was a teacher and expected respect and honesty from everyone else but seemed to think she was exempt. Her ex fiance', Henry, makes appearances several times during this book and she does not handle their encounters well at all. She strives to be civil to him but has no problem giving Declan grief. It was too much. Although there were times it was cute, it was also very annoying at times and led to a huge problem with their relationship. Violet was unwilling to admit her part in Declan reading the situation wrong. It took Beckett pointing out that she was wrong before she even acknowledged that she did wrong. Although she said she was sorry, she would have reacted the same way as Declan did if the situation were reversed. She promised him honesty and failed to deliver and couldn't wrap her head around about why he would not be okay with it and accept her apology. Knowing his past and her past, it was hard to fathom why she would expect him to be okay with her lie. I did enjoy the ending and epilogue.

What a nice treat! Emily Snow, finally back and with a beautifully-written love story that was a true joy to read. Lust Thy Neighbor clearly lives up to its title and the romance between the school teacher and her very sexy neighbor was as touching as it was sweet.

Violet and Declan. They find themselves as next-door neighbors to each other and almost immediately, despite the temporary rage she feels at being woken up at 7am on a weekend day, the chemistry is most definitely there. They tread lightly due to the fact that his younger brother, whom he has full custody, is one of her students. But as some time passes, there is no denying that Violet and Declan are clearly smitten with each other.

What I loved most was that this is just as it is portrayed: a love story with the some ups and downs and two people simply wanting to figure out how to do it right! Sure there are some misunderstandings, some hurt along the way but you can just feel the love between these two and there was no way they wouldn't end up together.

The secondary characters truly add the right amount of both levity and struggle with Jacob as the moody teenager, Alice as Violet's very 'free' mother and most importantly Beckett, Violet's bestie who tells her like it is each and every time. Much to her chagrin I might add. But the love is there for all of these important people in Declan and Violet's life and all together, a wonderful story has been written.

I encourage you to give this one a go when you're in a slump and you just need a fun-loving read, one that is sure to put a smile on your face.

A solid 4 stars

I loved the scenario of this book.  New guy moves in next door.  Girl meets broody guy next door.  Both Declan and Violet are coming out of bad relationships and not looking for any serious commitment.

One thing which was different, Declan is guardian to his little brother, Jacob, and has made him a number one priority in this life.  Turns out, Violet is Jacob's teacher at his new high school.  Somewhat convenient huh?

Anyway, Declan and Violet agree to just a "casual" relationship, no strings attached.  And things continue along rather nicely.....meaning absolutely no angst or heartache (it's sad that we thrive on drama these days).  Unfortunately, this made things a little slow for me, a little too "perfect", but then BAM!  At about the 75% mark things start to get interesting, and there's that angst I was looking for all along!  But......it doesn't last long.

This was a nice sweet read about two people putting their past behind them and moving forward together.

I really liked this book, Violet leaves Philadelphia after her fiancée breaks up with her, a couple of days before their wedding and moves an hour away for some peace of mind. Not too long after that, Declan moves in next door with his younger brother Jacob. Violet and Declan start off a little on the wrong foot but become friends. They start seeing each other after a small lie and things with them are pretty good. They become a little family the three of them, Violet, Declan and Jacob. They do go through a rough patch but make it through. I loved the ending of the book, the epilogue was so sweet and i loved Violet and Declan's story.

Wow! After falling off the map so it seemed, Emily Snow is FINALLY back! There are so many good things to say about Lust Thy Neighbor. Violet has been wounded by a cheating ex-fiancé. Declan is a manwhore who turned into a mother/father all in one to his young brother when their parents were killed by a drunk driver. The two become next door neighbors and so the story goes. The imagery Emily uses in her writing is absolutely brilliant. Picturing the H/h's homes and the scenes is easy to do without her going overboard waxing poetic. And the sex is hot as well. Lust Thy Neighbor was a steamy romance that will not disappoint.

Declan sure knows the way to a girl's heart, "...he took out something he'd picked up for her that afternoon and placed it in her hand. “A Snickers bar?” She laughed. “You bought me candy—this is so sweet.” I really liked Declan and his attitude he had sometimes, “not quite, but if you want to break a couple laws....” His voice trailed off as she wiggled around on top of him, her ankle coming up dangerously close to his ***k. "Careful, I think we’ll need that in a bit.” I really enjoyed this book I loved Declan maybe Jake will get a book of his own I loved him bunches as well.

Recently single teacher and her new sexy neighbor

I have to say first this was an amazing surprise release from one of my favorite authors and I was mad that I was out of town over the weekend and couldn't down load it to my influential I got home late Sunday night.
I enjoyed the story of Violet a recently single teacher and Declan her new sexy neighbor who writes for a paper and has custody of his teenage brother. The story flowed well and is well written with believable life situations.

I would definitely recommend "Lust Thy Neighbor"

Really enjoyed this story.

Declan and Violet were a very good couple. Violet is off relationships due to her fiance cheating on her and Declan had the same problem, his girlfriend cheated on him. Declan is raising his younger brother who is 14 because their parents were killed in a car wreck. He has been taking care of him alone for two years now. He moves into a house next to Violet and upsets her right from the start. Grab this book and take the ride with these characters you will love it.

I love Emily Snow's books!!

I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to get through this one because it's told in 3rd person and I am so used to reading in the POV of the main characters that I struggle with books that aren't. But I absolutely loved this book!!!

I loved the plot and the characters created. The banter and chemistry was so well written. This book will have you laughing out loud, shedding a few tears and wanting you to reach through the pages to smack both Declan and Violet on the back of the head.

I highly recommend that you read this book!!!

I really enjoyed this one. I liked the background stories that each of these characters were both bringing to the table with them. It made them real and relatable. I really enjoyed the way that they were introduced to one another!! I would have to say my favorite character was Jake. He brought a sweetness and vulnerability to the story that I loved. You forget how raw and lost a teenage boy can be and how much they really do need the love of their parents. It was a sweet story with tons of chemistry. I loved getting lost in the lust and love in this one!

I love how Declan hardly wears shirts in this book! Can he be my neighbor?! One word, AMAZING! I loved this book. Violet's crappy fiancee leaves her days before the wedding to another woman. Almost a year later, Declan and his kid brother move in next door. Their first meeting was hilarious with her yelling at him for using a saw at 7 in the morning on the weekend. He was too busy checking out her in her pjs to really pay attention. Sparks fly with every encounter. It's sweet, funny and heartbreaking all in one.

Sometimes I feel like the name doesn't represent the book very well. Personally I thought the name was over the top. Huge but here. But I thought it was steamy, you feel the chemistry on the pages. I feel like you could tell it wasn't just about the lust. I thought the relationship was cute and I loved they didn't play games like a lot of FWB relationship do. Declan is one of my favorite heroes. He's funny and sweet and kinda dirty. Violet is kinda adorable and I want to be her friend. Even the b characters were great! You won't regret this read

Loved it.!!! this was just what I needed for my Midnight Sunday's read. It was super sweet and the story was great, the characters were so lovely that you couldn't just fall in love with them. My only wish is that Jacob get his own story too, he was sooooo sweet that I know I'm not the only one who wants to know more about his life as a young adult.!!

Emily Snow is back and she has been missed!!!! Lust thy Neighbor is her first release of the year and it brought tears to my eyes.. This is nothing like her other books - every day people with everyday problems- who capture your heart..

Declan is hot sexy with just the right amount of baggage.

This was a nice romance story of two neighbors with trust issues. They start out bickering but can't resist the attraction. With a few bumps along the way, some help from Declan' s brother, Jacob, they find their way to each other and to their HEA. Nice easy read.
