Emma and Lauren share a brief kiss in high school and then Lauren disappears for 14 years. Lauren has become a photographer and has a gallery showing back in London where they are both from. Emma is kind of a creepy character that watches her neighbors through a pair of binoculars and thus witnesses a burglary taking place. The neighbor that is burglarized???...you guessed it...Lauren. The fact that they are madly in love with each other after 14 years of separation and one kiss is absurd. I like that they work together to solve a mystery giving the author an opportunity to build a relationship between the two. However, that is not what happens. They are in love but you don't know why.

I typically like Jade Winters' books, but I feel Accidentally Together suffers from a "where did THIS come from?" plot twist (in the worst way possible) and over-the-top angst as well as troublesome back and forth dynamics between the two main characters. Winters' writing style, as always, is terrific and some of what the characters think and feel really strike home with me, but, overall, I just cannot get past how some things border on the implausible (including the characters' questionable history together, if you could even say they have history together). Despite all of this, a so-so read by Jade Winters is definitely still worth reading.

So Lauren pity-kissed Emma fourteen years ago, they don't talk before or after that day but we are to believe they are the loves of each other's life. how? The whodunnit was a big disappointment as well.

The prompt of it seems really good, who dunnit with some romance strung in!
Alas, I was left slightly deflated. Some of the characters either needed more background, weren't needed, or I just hated them or didn't get their reason for their appearance. Like it had all been rushed around in the last few chapters, like who the stalker was (beyond disappointed to be honest), the final arch of their relationship triumph, making up with whosever lives they had ruined.
Maybe if it was longer though it would have felt dragged out, clearly I wouldn't have won!

I mean, it was a good story, it was well written, the love the characters show was really cute and nauseating as love should be, the characters were well in their dynamic, the way the story panned out with its flow in the beginning and middle, the development of one of the protagonist.

It kept me hooked, especially as it was a stalker mystery, I just wanted to know who was lurking, my mind wandered through the characters at each chapter, making me feel like they're who I should hate because secretly maybe they're the psycho, or is it that person. So overall it did the job.
I would recommend it because maybe it's just me being an ungrateful child because I didn't guess the stalker right!

This is a love story and a whodunnit.

Winters fans know from her Ashley McCoy-series, that the author enjoys to let the reader do some guessing every now and then. And the reader enjoys the guessing, too. At least this one does. In this book is quite some guessing to do. (Early on I thought I’d know who it is – and who it isn‘t, and at some point I was already proudly patting my own shoulder – just to find out I actually was very wrong. Which is good).

We also know that we’re about to get a sweet and steamy love story and that the main characters do have to deal with things from the past (We never get them one-dimensional, they always have their own stories to tell). The two ladies here have met in the past, have kissed in the past and were for some time only able to longingly dream of the past, until they met again – accidently.

Now we Winters fans also know about the future: There will always be a happy end, of course! And if you want to know about Emma’s and Lauren’s story in between past and future, you should let her entertain you with „Accidently together“. It’s another diverting read, promised.

I'm giving this 3 stars because the grammar is good and I got it on unlimited... And I'm only at 32% of the book. Had I paid for it.. it wouldn't be more than 2 right now.

I have to take a break from it and wanted to address some things while they're in my mind:

First off this book lacks research. A counselor can talk about cases so long as they don't say who they're about and don't give specifics. So saying it's confidential and she can't talk at all about it makes no sense.

A person would not hold a job at a counseling place that has an attitude like being happy when a co-worker is being handled because their patient was attacked. That's insane.. just because the writer wanted Wendy to be the bitch in the office? There's better, more realistic and subtle ways to do that. Really in any job, there are asshole coworkers everywhere but to be outright rude isn't a thing that happens and people get to keep their job, there's harassment laws.

Okay so the worst thing so far.. first idk what happened to Lauren, I'm assuming she was raped, but whatever happened was 14 years ago and she's acting like it just happened. She needs serious therapy, and I find it hard to believe that someone with her reaction to life hasn't sought it out. I mean was she held hostage and raped for several months? It just seems so over the top, her fear. I understand ptsd can last a lifetime, especially when not addressed, but this is so much more than that, the way she's acting is just so far out there.

And worse, Emma said Lauren is the only girl she loved. She also still fantasizes about Lauren. And when she sees her again is immediately into her hard core again, and when she thinks she may have a bf (after 14 years of not seeing her and sharing a glass of wine) gets irrationally jealous.. you know after spying on her. Like she thinks about getting drunk, or what else can she do to take her mind off it? Lauren also says to herself that she's never felt a connection like she did with Emma with anyone else. But they didn't even KNOW each other. Lauren knew Emma as the gay outcast, and Emma knew Lauren as the popular girl. And they kissed once, in public, so it couldn't have been a make out session... Then didn't see each other for 14 years. I understand loving someone (especially as a teen, and your first) that you've never been with... (Maybe a best friend) but not someone you don't really know. It makes no sense, their feelings... Especially Emma.. it just seems so unhealthy that it's more like a lifelong infatuation, bordering on obsession (or just straight up obsession since she was spying on her and who she thought was her bf), that it makes Emma seem incredibly immature.. and amayne crazy... like she has the emotional iq of a teenager. They are 30.

Idk if I'll finish it.. maybe if I don't feel like weeding thru other unlimited because a lot are just poorly written and/or with horrible grammar... Which is the only positive thing about this book so far, the English.

Also I feel like Lauren's ex is the one who broke in and left the note so Lauren would run to her. I mean she just showed up after the burglary. And Lauren's ex is nuts too . They've been broken up for 7 months and shes like harassing her. Lauren already had to change her number once? And we met Emma's parents who are awful, and Emma still meets them on her b'day. She can't pay for her own dinner? It's like her step dad said it's too expensive and it was accepted that Emma couldn't go? Could she not pay for herself at the fancy restaurant? but again the whole scene made Emma seem like a teenager.. she doesn't even correct her coffee order? And again they bitched about the coffee price, why couldn't Emma then pay for it herself to make a point? I guess the interaction is the norm for her family... So weird. Honestly the book would make more sense if the characters were teenagers... And why do we meet her parents and why are they like that... For what purpose? It's like everyone but the MCs and their immediate person. (sister, agent) are assholes. Is it her step dad, the one who did whatever to Lauren. I hope I'm really wrong on both the ex and the dad as far as Lauren issues, because with everything else I should not be able to guess the mystery at 30%. Romances can be predictable.. mystery elements should not be.

Omg I had some time... Continued reading.. she was stalked!? That's is?? She was never even harmed.. and she's acting the way she is? Insane. And also they are head over heels love obsessed... Over a kiss a decade and a half ago and didn't know each other.. wtf? The story makes no sense. And I'm just at the part where Lauren sees Emma's sister... And they're acting like old friends. Which also makes no sense. Why didn't the story just have then as best friends in their childhood that grew up together and shared one kiss? At least the harporing on obsessive feeling would make a little more sense. And I had to write now because I'm at the part where Lauren meets good again and a minute into their meeting Emma is like "Lauren just tell hope about your stalker" like hope was trying for the information and there was no way to get around not telling her.. when she could have told her anything, been as vague as she wants, and after it took a while (a day or two) for lauren to open up to Emma about it (the love of her life, her soulmate). It's fucked up that Emma who is a counselor, and won't talk about vague aspects of her clients cases, would just out Lauren's history (the story that doesn't let her function as a normal human being, living in constant fear, and unable to go to her hometown where her parents live) to her sister like that. It's insane... This whole book is ridiculous.

Emma is a London-based therapist facing her 30th birthday without a partner or much of a social life. She pines after Lauren, a girl who was a schoolmate and kissed her in front of the bullies who were making Emma's life miserable, but then mysteriously left the school. When Emma spots a burglar robbing an apartment in a building across from hers, she is reunited with Lauren, who's using the apartment temporarily while she gets ready for an exhibit of her photographs at a London gallery.

The book focuses on the reason for Lauren's disappearance and her life since then, as she and Emma work together to find the person who's at the heart of Lauren's fears. All this while the spark between them reignites.

Second chance romances are one of my favorite tropes and Jade Winters is an experienced writer. Most of what engaged me in this book was in the second half as the MCs came together and worked on solving Lauren's situation.

The problem with this book is one of credibility. Would both Lauren and Emma really feel so strongly about their memories of just one kiss, especially since they had no prior friendship? In addition, when the person they need to find is finally identified, that person's motivation just doesn't make sense. It's as if they were plucked out of thin air.

I'd go with a 3.5 here but my interest in solving the mystery would bump it up to a 4.

I wonder if there is an unwritten law that says that in every single lesbian erotica book there MUST BE at least one Laurence, and if she's the main character, even better. If I were an editor, my number one rule would be NO MORE LESBIAN LAURENS.

Aside from the lack of originality in the names--which made me feel in a weird OUaT/Lost Girl crossover--the plot is weak and farfetched, and characters hard to empathize with. The way their romance was described, it made me think they were long lost lovers reunited by fate after 14 of longing to be back together, but that's not the case. We don't even know how they fell in love, and it's very hard for me to believe that a 30-something yo still thinks the same way she did back in high school. I thought growing up was a thing.

Anyway, over all it was pretty meh.

A Stalker broke and caused a romance

I know a weird title for a review, anyway the pair split up due to stalking, fear and tears later met again sort of by accident. The stoey talks about the couple trying to track down the Stalker where the couple again becomes close and accidentally find the Stalker who broke them up(Well it is a romance😏😏 There is quite a bit about how little the authorities do to stalkers and hoe little the believe women. The laws have changed but its seems normal that many but not all police just don't women very seriously.

The premise of this book sounded interesting, but in the end, it was not. The description made it seem like there would be more romance and development between the two characters. There was not. It seemed like they sorta just jumped into a relationship with each other and there was no pretense. The whole stalking part of the story fell flat for me and I had just wished I read a better book. I would not recommend this book.

Just what I've been looking for...

This novel was just what I needed as I've gotten into thrillers over the last few months. However, I wanted to read thrillers that included lesbians as well and I found it in this beautiful story of love shrouded in mystery. Naturally, I still failed to guess the right person for the crime but I enjoyed the chase no less. If you're looking for f/f romance and mystery then, this is the title for you. Enjoy!

TERRIFIC BOOK
Only noticed one small typo.
When Emma is talking with Jay in the park, first time she the writer speaks of view of the park she states that the grass is a lush green. Later she remarks that Jay ground out her cigarette on the floor. The correct reference would have been. Jay ground out her cigarette on the ground.

Fourteen years seems like a lifetime ago.

Suddenly she's gone and no word of why she left. The author has created a suspenseful tale of two women. One who left terrified of her shadow and the other who is determined to find out why.Enjoy!

Really good!

I really enjoyed reading "Accidentally Together". It was fast paced, kept my attention, and kept me guessing. I really like stories that I don't know who did it until it's revealed.

Emma sure is not a detective, some of the worst trying to figure out who. One kiss in high school, that is a stretch for anyone to believe. Overall not a believable story. Surprised I finished it.

Accidentally Together — Jade Winters (38 chapters)

Not much to say here. Ms. Winters is just one of those writers that you count on pretty reliably to put a smile on your face and enjoy the ride. (This is a typical lesbian romance. There are sexy bits in it.)

Despite the stated 38 chapters, it was a quick read that had a decent plot and great characters. The story felt real and natural, and I really couldn’t put it down.

A bonus was it was well edited. I didn’t see any typos or odd sentence structures.

Happy to have gotten lost in this book.

Three stars.

What a let down I've read previous books by Jade but this one well lets just say I was not impress. When they was getting to the point of who was stalking Lauren you get a big let down and no answers at all.

A must read.

I enjoyed this book. I like how it combined several issues that people deal with today. Stalking, transgender and relationships were all dealt with in an open honest way but didn't seem unrealistic.

Most of Jades book are very good and I can't put them down. However, this book took me awhile to read. It just did keep my interest like her other did. I not saying it wasn't a good story, but it took until the end to start getting my interest.

A beautiful story and decent thriller

This tale of love has the pacing of a crime thriller. The story is pretty good at tossing out believable red herrings, but the actual stalker was a bit of a disappointment. However, the love story is well done.

I loved it.

The characters are well developed, and the plot has interesting twists and turns. I thought I had it all figured out, and I wasn't even close.

Jade Winters is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors!

Wow

I really enjoyed this story even though it saddened me a little. This is bullying at its best when you change UR life so severely. Poor Lauren. I m just happy that Emma got her happy ending. Oh and Emma's mother is such an SOB! There I said it, as I wrote it .
